Treatments -Olay - Age Defying Daily Renewal Cream
asiajolie 1/6/2011 4:07:00 AM
Pros: light texture, fresh scent Cons: comes in a jar - not very sanitary, no SPF, broke me out I bought this based on the great reviews here. Sadly it was not suitable for my combo-oily-sensitive skin. It stung every time I put it on, but eventually the itchiness calms down. I thought the whole breaking-out with tiny bumps all over my cheeks/jaw line and dry flaky patches everywhere was part of the purging process. At the same time, my skin still remained oily in the T-zone! Stubborn me, I stuck with it for almost a whole jar used up, 1st everyday then every other day. Thanks to this, I now have to buy a bunch of skincare products to get rid of my flakes, zits and bumps.
Moisturizers -Shiseido - Pureness Mattifying Moisturizer (Oil Free)

This totally dries out my sensitive combination-oily face when used in combination with the deep cleanser and alcohol-free balancing softener of the Pureness line. After 3 weeks of usage, now my face is still oily and very flaky at multiple spots, plus many tiny bumps appear on the T-zone, none of which was a problem before. Regret buying the whole set as it wasn't cheap. This should not have happened considering that the summer here is pretty hot and humid. Packaging is in a glass bottle but not easy to break, I dropped it a few times, still fine. Now I have to fix this dehydrated skin problem caused by it, sigh.
Love MAC brushes. Hate this MAC brush roll. The quality is too low compared to its price. After less than 1 year of little use the thing already ripped apart here and there. I never used up all the slots, not like I tried to overstuff it so can't understand why it got torn at the corners. Never want to fork out that much money for a bad quality brush roll branded under a famous name again. Uuugh!
This color is really pretty for a manicure but does not stand out much for a pedicure. It is long lasting, a week without chipping and no top coat needed since it's very shiny and smooth. The glow is subtle and elegant. I usually don't like pink polish but this one is great.
Charcoal Brown is the beginning of my MAC addiction :)). It was the first MAC product that I bought, along with MAC brow brush #208. I have really dark -almost black- hair but very light eyebrows. This color looks really natural, a true brown that is buildable and long lasting even in hot humid weather. I would buy it again because it's not at all expensive considering 1 pot lasts forever - already 1 year with daily use and I still haven't hit the pan yet. Oh and the brush 208 is pretty great too.
Shampoo -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Baby Bee No Tear Shampoo and Wash

Pros : made by Burts Bees with natural ingredients Cons : doesn't lather up well, tangle my fine hair like crazy, and not the greatest scent - imo. I now only use this on my brushes. One bottle last a long time for that purpose.
Love it! Very fresh look and natural on me. Just put it on in the morning and still see a healthy glow in the afternoon after a long work day. I have super sensitive skin but this doesn't break me out. I alternate between this and Springsheen, they're both great.
The first thing I noticed is that this toner has a really strong scent that lingers on. It is supposed to be good for oily skin, maybe that's why it dried out my combination skin. My skin feels refreshed, clean and a bit tightened up after immediate use. My pores got smaller and my skin tone got more even now. However, I will switch to a more moisturizing toner.
Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Milk & Honey Body Lotion

This smells sweet like coconut candy. The texture is thin and can be spread easily. It moisturizes well and best of all, is natural. Definitely a must have for me. I use it on my face sometimes too, it's that good.
Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
asiajolie 10/27/2006 1:47:00 PM
I wouldn't put this on a wet face because then it's really greasy. I put it on my dry face and massage it in circular motion, really love how that warms up my face and gets all the impurities off. Then I rinse it off with water and lather a bit of BB's tomato soap on to clean up the grease. It does sting when getting too close to the eyes. But overall, it's a great product.
Moisturizers -Kanebo - Whitening Milky Conditioner

I used the moisture version at nite and the regular version during the daytime. Just gone thru 2 whole bottles and didn't notice any fading of my freckles but it moisturized my skin and brightened it up a bit. Maybe what it does is preventing more freckles from forming. Will buy again one more time to see if it actually works with prolonged use.
Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Garden Tomato Complexion Soap [DISCONTINUED]
asiajolie 10/23/2006 12:11:00 PM
I use this with Burts' Citrus Scrub & Tomato Toner and that combo has been saving my face for over a year. My skin used to be oily & acne-prone but now it is always clear and much less shiny. I only dislike the fact that after a while, the soap bar stop smelling fresh when I put it on my wet face. However, since it works I will stick to it. One bar last for a very long time so it's well worth the money.
Been addicted to this for 5 years, this all natural lip balm is so good!
I have mixed feelings about this product. I like the fact that it has SPF, smells good and looks great on me. I don't like that every time I apply this, more liquid always spills out of the bottle than necessary. I also don't like how it's doesn't glide on my skin easily like Chanel's Base Lumiere. And although I buy this at duty free, it's still very expensive. I have this in Mimosa, which is yellow and more suited for gold undertone skin. The other shade is Rosee, which is better for very fair neutral or pink undertone skin.
Primer/ Corrector -Chanel - Base Lumiere - Illuminating Makeup Base
asiajolie 10/23/2006 11:22:00 AM
First of all, the silky gel glides on very easily after I cleansed, toned and moisturized my face. Secondly, this makes my skin looks lit-from-within and holds my makeup all day despite the hot humid weather of Hanoi summer. I learned from the other reviewers to store the bottle up side down so no problem getting the gel out even when there's only a little bit left. Also because of the gel's thicker consistency compared to Chanel's other base (Blanc Universelle), you get more control (squeeze just enuf gel out every time). My only complaint is that it is expensive and has no SPF.
