Conditioner -The Body Shop - Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter
asherzoby 3/1/2013 12:15:00 PM
this is terrible! had a sample from the body shop and used it after 2 months. when i peeled open the sample, the "butter" was already all chalky and white. i can't apply it to my hair!!! ok, so i tried to and there was no difference to my hair AT ALL. plus, the smell was just strange. sure, the sample was 2 months old, but i dun think hair butter is a product that expires in a matter of months right?!

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Rainforest Moisture Conditioner
asherzoby 2/26/2013 12:10:00 AM
Got a few samples from my local body shop when i splurged on lots of household items (think scented mist, perfume oil, pillow spray). This conditioner does nothing for my hair. My hair is rather dry at the ends, but i tend to have an oily scalp if i used a shampoo that is overly moisturising. i feel like i have to squeeze a lot of this product just to get my hair feeling softer. not good. not sure if i totally like the smell either. verdict: the body shop body, bath and hair products don't really work for me. i am always fascinated by their marketing and packaging, but aside from that, it just does not work. reminder to self: not to get suckered into buying these products! just stick with scents, perfume and creams would do.

Bronzers -Unlisted Brand - Sportsgirl - glow and behold illuminating bronzer
asherzoby 2/25/2013 4:14:00 AM
This comes in a very pretty box and its own brush! it is a mix of bronze, pink and dark brown powder. it goes on nicely on my NC20 face, and has a soft shimmery sheen to it. i am currently using it for contouring my face, and it does work. it is a little too pink though, so don't pick up too much powder if you are using it to contour. otherwise, i think it is perfect for a blusher / bronzer as well. Not sure how much it sells in Aussie as i got it as a present. not available in Singapore so i won't be able to stock up anytime soon. it is my first bronzer though, so i don't have anything to judge by, but so far, the texture, powder and pigment goes on really well!

Lip Treatments -Korres - Lip Butter -Quince
asherzoby 2/25/2013 4:11:00 AM
got this when i purchased the sephora best buys of the year. I am NC 20. This when applied to my lips does leave it nicely soft and not sticky. however, it does not really have a obvious tint on my lips. also, i don't like the packaging since you got to dip your fingers into the tub to get the product out. that being said, it is a nice smooth formula, and leaves my lips nice and buttery, and it does have a nice and very light scent and taste. however, i don't believe in paying out more than 10 USD for any lip balm, the best one i still believe in is my vaseline which costs me less than 3.50 SGD. that is the bomb, and nothing comes close to that as yet, certainly not a pricey korres lip butter!

Treatments -Kerastase - Chroma Riche Leave In
asherzoby 2/25/2013 4:07:00 AM
I got a sample size of this Keratase reflection chroma riche luminious softening essence for coloured treated hair. just a small squirt on my hands and rubbed into my hair and an immediate noticable difference can be seen and felt! not sure if it does any good for brightening up my year old dyed hair, but it seriously leaves my hair silky smooth and soft!! will buy this again if the price is right! i am not a big sucker for spending lots of money on hair product, but this is just amazing!

Eye Shadow -TheFACEShop - Jewel Effect Duo 03
asherzoby 2/25/2013 4:04:00 AM
This was a duo eyeshadow in light and dark green. the colour does not stay, and it makes my eyes just look so garish and outlandish. the green looks really nice in the tube, but not on my eyes. ok priced, but it flakes all over - espeically the darker green. not happy with having a glittery face by mid morning! not buying this again.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Sin Eyeshadow
asherzoby 2/25/2013 3:12:00 AM
I am chinese with NC20-25 skin with yellow tones. I got compliments when i use this eyeshadow before, i am just not sure if i like it enough. it goes on a tad too frosty for my liking. it does not really compliment my skin that much though, so i use it on the outer sides of my eyes. i know some people think this is suitable to highlight the brow area and the inner corner, but i prefer a brighter white colour for that - like my trusty NYX in cottage cheese. i may try doing that one day, although i am not too sure about whether it will work since i find this really too dark for my eyes. since it got so much raves, i will try to see how it works for asians! will update if i can figure out how to work this in for my skin, until then, i think my sallow skin tone defintely needs something brighter.

Primer/ Corrector -Stila - One Step Correct
asherzoby 2/25/2013 3:02:00 AM
Got a sample of this from the SA who was strongly recommending this over MUFE in 002, and smashbox in purple. Seems like a good enough product to love, since it has all the three nice colours wrapped up in one tube. Unfortunately, i think as an asian with yellow tone skin, what i really need is just the purple tones to reduce my yellow tones. therefore, this did not really work for me. my skin looks better with just a pure purple primer instead of this three in one product. Formula wise, it is not silicon based, but more moisturising. makes me feel more oily though. would not be buying this.

Primer/ Corrector -Make Up For Ever - HD Microperfecting Primer
asherzoby 2/25/2013 2:43:00 AM
I got a sample size of this in 002 (purple) together with the smashbox photofinish in purple. I prefer this as it feels less silicony. This goes on like a moisturizer. It really brightens up my skin and makes me look less yellow and more fair, which i really like! i am not sure how effective it is in making my make up stay though, at the most, i think it makes my make up stay on for about an hour or two longer, but i really like the brighterning effect so i will purchase this when my existing smashbox sample size runs out! will update again after buying and using! it is tad pricey in Singapore though - around 65 SGD, so will probably try to buy online from US. Since primer is on your face so much, i figured i rather use this than a drugstore brand!

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
asherzoby 2/25/2013 2:30:00 AM
As with most smashbox primer, this one has a silicon feel when you apply it to your face. So your face ends up feeling nice and silky, but i can't help wondering if it would clog my pores. the SA at sephora assured me otherwise, but my skin feels so poreless and silicon-y and dry that i cannot help but wonder. anyway, this primer does help to keep make up on my face for about 2 hours longer. it also reduces shine. i find the product rather expensive though! I also tried on the sample for photofinish primer in purple to reduce my yellow tones. it works very nicely, makes me look less "yellowish". i also tried the sample for Make Up Forever in 002 purple, and that one made me look fairer. both have pretty good staying power and does not clog my pores out. this seems pricer than the MUFE though, so i will probably be buying the MUFE since i love having a fairer complexion.

Eyeliner -MAC - Superslick Liquid Liner
asherzoby 2/25/2013 2:15:00 AM
I think the formula for the different colours differs so i will do my review in parts instead: 1. On the hunt (black). the black does not go on perfectly. and if you attempt to redo your eyeliner, it smudges some of the existing eyeliner off your eyes. the formula is not very smooth and tends to be a little too thick at the beginning. The black is very strong, and it is a pure sooty black. good if you prefer that. for me, it is too strong a look. overall, i find the formula for black does not work as well. it also tends to drop off sometimes during the day, especially for me since my eyes tear up more in the morning, so i get left with half an eyeliner on during the day. it is not very obvious since my asian eyes tend to have a very deep crease very near the eye, but it is annoying when i close my eyes coz you can clearly see that half my eyeliner has fallen off, especially since black is such a strong colour. 2. signature blue (blue). The formula goes on better. and blue is pretty cool colour. less fall out, and you can touch up a couple of times without removing the original blue colour, unlike the black eyeliner. not too bad but blue is rather obvious, so more suitable for night out rather than a day in the office. 3. desires and devices (olive). this is the best and one of the reason why i keep buying this eyeliner. the formula is smooth and consistent throughout for all the two tubes i have bought so far. it is dark but not too dark and just right for my NC20 skintone. there is way less fall out, and it does not smudge and does not take as long as the black one to dry up. easily removable with warm water so no need to meddle around with oil and stuff. love, love, love this. it cost me around SGD25 if i buy this in US, but around SGD35 if i bought this from the local MAC shop in Singapore. Definitely buying it when i go US, not in Singapore. Even a maybelline or revlon eyeliner goes for about 20 SGD here, so paying 25SGD for a MAC definitely makes sense. 4. pure show (gold). love this colour and formula! it tends to be a little more clumpy than the olive one though, but its very difficult to find a gold eyeliner that is easily removable by water. please pm me if any of you know of any good ones! overall - i love pure show and desires and devices. on the hunt just does not work. i love the fact that you can easily remove the eyeliner with just warm water! that is a mega plus point for me and the reason why i am willing to spend more money on a product that you have to throw away after 3-6 months. i would consider MAC eyeliners expensive in Singapore since it cost me 35SGD, but would definitely get some in US for only 25SGD. overall, i like this eyeliner but am still looking around for a good dupe. Unlike fibre mascaras, i don't have an issue with this fibre (i assume its kinda the same formula since they wash away with warm water) irritating my eyes. have tried the rest of the eyeliners colour on my hands, but pure show and desires and devices win hands down.

Concealers -NYX - Concealer Stick - Fair CS02
asherzoby 2/25/2013 1:40:00 AM
This does not work on me. Not sure if it is too light, but the concealer goes on too sheer on my skin. It cannot cover any blemishes unless i put on a cakey paste on my skin. Price wise, it is cheap for a drugstore brand in singapore (believe i got it for about 6 SGD) but since it does not work, it is not worth the money at all. only good thing is that it does not break my face out. but that is about it. i will probably consider higher end products for concealer next time.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst in Plum
asherzoby 2/25/2013 1:35:00 AM
I am NC20 - NC25. This colour is highly pigmented, and as most people already say, it is not plum, but rather dark deep red, like wine coloured. Maybe i don't wear lipstick often, so wearing this heavy colour straight off the lipstick is too dark and harsh for me, even if i try to tone down the rest of the make up. it works better when i use a little of it with a lipbrush, and then up the gloss factor with a lip gloss. the original colour goes on matte. staying power wise is pretty good if you just use it from the lipstick. lipstick itself is tasteless (which is the way liptstick should be). Does not dry out my lips but texture wise, my usual elizabeth arden liptstick feels creamier on my lips. will not be repurchasing this again since this colour is really not my thing until i get used to it i guess!

Blush -MAC - Mocha blush
asherzoby 2/25/2013 1:19:00 AM
I am NC20 and this goes quite well on me. It is highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way. got to be light handed though, as too much of the product can make it go on splotchy instead and it is pretty hard to blend it out thereafter. it is a nice neutral healthy pink flush with brown base and it suits my yellow based skin. It holds ok well - i have oily skin, so about 4 hours, most of the blush is gone, and i would have to touch up thereafter. it still feels like my benefit sugarbomb one has a slightly longer staying power but the matte finish makes it easier to work with especially if you already have shimmery eyeshadow on. this was recommended to be by the SA. It is value for money since i have been using it for pretty long and have yet to hit pan. would love to explore other colours though!

Masks -Laneige - Water Sleeping Pack_EX
asherzoby 2/25/2013 12:47:00 AM
This smells good, and a little does more than a lot. Putting too much just makes my face really sticky. Putting a little helps keep my face feeling slightly moist and smooth. I like the smell - makes me feel very relaxed. I am not sure if it really works on my skin though. When i had terrible acne, it did nothing for my skin. My skin cleared up after going to see the derm and taking the prescribed medication. Now that my skin is cleared, i am trying these counter products again. Not too sure how effective this face mask is. Unless i am in Korea and the price is reasonable, unlikely that i will be getting this in Singapore where it goes for more than 50 per tub. Also, i dun really like the packaging since it is in the form of a tub and seems not so hygenic to be dipping my hand, or a stick in.
