Love this scent. The perfect sweet floral. Lasts me almost all day not I mind having to put on more since it's so cheap. This is a signature scent for me.

Fragrances -Bodycology - Vanilla Cupcake Body Mist
rated 2 of 5
artsypirate 5/1/2013 11:36:00 PM

Simple enough scent to get right and yet this doesn't smell quite like a vanilla cupcake. The vanilla is there but the sweetness you'd expect from the baked goods name isn't. Something about the scent is just...off and I can't put my finger on what. My husband loves it but to my nose it smells like vanilla scented play dough. The only pro for me is that it lasts a long time.

Lipstick -Maybelline - 24 Hour super stay
rated 5 of 5
artsypirate 4/8/2013 4:26:00 PM

I have this in Endless Ruby and Cinnamon Stay. ER is a gorgeous shade of red that I love so much I bought another tube just in case these are discontinued (since a lot of people seem to hate them). CS I picked up because I wanted a less bold color. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Cinnamon Stay on me. It doesn't look awful but it doesn't do anything for me either so darker skinned ladies beware. I haven't had the problems with application that others mention. I just make sure my lips are clean and free of oil and wait the TWO minutes the packaging suggests before adding the gloss. I've worn Endless Ruby for 7+ hrs and it still looked perfect when I went to bed that night. I did have to reapply the gloss a few times but the color didn't budge at all. I did find Cinnamon Stay applied streaky but since I'm not crazy about the color anyway I just put it *on top of a balm* to sheer it out but it obviously is not long wearing used that way. Packaging is pretty basic and feels cheap which makes me wonder why this is 9 bucks in some stores. The twist up part of the gloss side wobbles in it's base and I'm scared I'm going to break it. I'm not sure that it would survive if I kept it in my purse. Overall I think these are great lipsticks but I wish there were some options for daytime shades other than browns.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips in Cherry Me
rated 5 of 5
artsypirate 1/29/2013 2:20:00 AM

I'm not sure I believe this does what Maybelline claims which is provide 8 hours of moisture. It is moisturizing but the formula just isn't thick enough to last for hoursss. You will definitely need to reapply every hour or so. (Especially if your SO is like mine and likes the flavor. lol) That being said, I love the consistency of this. It's not greasy or sticky like other moisturizing balms. I think this particular color would be flattering to a range of skin tones as well. Will definitely repurchase and try other colors as well.

Fragrances -Coty - Truth or Dare by Madonna

First off I should say I'm no fragrance connoisseur so this review may not tell you what you want to know if you are. I used the tester of this perfume one day while passing through Macy's. It was nice...sweet and flowery smelling but nothing memorable and I took the perfume bottle shaped piece of paper I'd sprayed it on and tossed it in my shopping bag and forgot about it. Ten minutes later my husband and I were in the car headed home trying to figure out where the amazing smell that had enveloped the car was coming from. I bought a bottle the next day and I am extremely happy I did. I know it has a lot of negative reviews but I have yet to have anyone crinkle their nose at me and ask what perfume I'm wearing. No it doesn't smell like something a little old lady would wear either. Yes it is strong--at first. I saw a review where someone described it as being punched in the face with a bouquet of flowers...while one spray is enough it is not that overly strong a scent and it dries down to a lovely quiet scent.

Mascara -Essence - get big lashes volume boost mascara
rated 5 of 5
artsypirate 9/13/2012 10:10:00 PM

New favorite mascara. It's inexpensive, dark black, and has an "old fashioned" bristle style applicator. I have this in waterproof and it stays on all day (and sometimes all night when I fall asleep in it) with no smudging. Might just go back to Ulta and buy a few more tubes so I never run out.

Mascara -Hard Candy - Shiny When Wet
rated 1 of 5
artsypirate 8/3/2012 12:47:00 AM

I too, fell for Lucky magazines lies. Cool packaging but awful mascara. It smudges easily and I end up with raccoon eyes within 10 minutes of having it on. The liner smudges just as easily. I never buy anything but cheap brand mascara and Im so mad at myself for wasting 7 bucks on this on Luckys suggestion. The only thing I really like about it is the applicator brush and at least it holds up with a waterproof mascara on top of it.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Megashield Lip Color SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
artsypirate 7/9/2012 3:53:00 AM

I have this in That's Berry Beautiful. It's a really pretty rich brick red shade on me and one of the few non frosty colors among the megashield line. It goes on like a lip balm and is REALLY pigmented. I prefer to apply it with a lip brush because for me straight from the tube is a bit too much product since the formula is so soft. The packaging itself is fine, feels sturdy, and I rather like wet and wild's new "grippy" tubes with their logo in them BUT omg are these hard to unwrap and he lipstick got nicked in the process. :( I easily removed the leftover glue from the label with a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol so anyone dealing with a dirty sticky tube that ought to solve your problem. :)

Lip Gloss -Avon - Glazewear Sparkle in Apple Cinnamon
rated 2 of 5
artsypirate 6/1/2012 12:49:00 AM

I bought this because it was on sale and I figured I'd try another color since I already own a few of the glazewears and like them. This one is just eh though. It's way too sparkly, overly sticky, and wears off unevenly. I tried it over a few lipsticks and it made my lips look like a disco ball every time. This may be great for a lot of people but I found the effect to be over the top. The only way to make the glitter in this less obnoxious is to use the tiniest dot of it. I ended up with a face full of micro glitter when I attempted to wipe what was left of it off with a tissue. :( All that aside this gloss is a pretty color at least.

Polishes -New York Color - Long Wearing Nail Enamel - Broadway Burgundy 116
rated 5 of 5
artsypirate 5/26/2012 11:02:00 PM

Gorgeous red jelly with red micro glitter. I have no idea why this is called a burgundy. It's not really a deep red imo and the glitter is only really obvious in bright light as the previous reviewer mentioned. Opaque in 2-3 coats but even better over another polish. I've found it can be made varying shades of red depending on what you layer it over. On white it's a bright red and over pink it's mid tone red, but over a dark red or black it's a deep vampy red like it's name implies. Dries super glossy which I love because I can skip a top coat if I'm in a hurry.

Polishes -New York Color - Grand Central Station clear nail polish
rated 3 of 5
artsypirate 5/20/2012 1:39:00 AM

Really liked this at first but I've had it 2 weeks and it's already thickening up. It gives a nice glossy shine but now that it's getting thick it makes my polishes peel. Literally PEEL off, not chip. So disappointed as I love this brands other nail polishes.

Sunscreen -Banana Boat - Ultra Defense SPF 50 with Avotriplex
rated 4 of 5
artsypirate 5/10/2012 10:02:00 AM

For as thick is stuff is it's surprisingly non sticky and didn't make me a shiny dirt magnet. I wore it to a large outdoor art/antiques show for a few hours two days in a row and was pleasantly surprised that it was enough to not get sunburned. Unfortunately I didn't have any sunblock specifically for my face so I used this. Day one I was fine but after day two the waterproofing of this had plugged all the pores on my face. Literally every pore on my face looked like it was going to turn into a pimple! I had to scrub and cleanse my face multiple times that night to avoid the impending breakout. Basically this is a nice sunscreen if you're trying to avoid getting burnt and don't mind tanning a little but don't put it on your face!!

Eyeliner -Essence - Liquid Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
artsypirate 5/4/2012 1:24:00 PM

I love how compact this liners packaging is. I always had the hardest time applying liquid liner because the applicator/brush handle was so long and hard for me to maneuver but this ones is just perfect! I got this in the waterproof version because I live in Fl and nothing non waterproof lasts in this heat. This stuff lasts so long. I have actually fallen asleep in it and woke up to it looking just as nice as when I first applied it. I don't remember exactly what I paid for it but I know it was cheap, no more than $2 at Ulta.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Up & Up Facial Moisturizing Lotion
rated 4 of 5
artsypirate 3/9/2012 8:39:00 PM

I'm from FL but my combination skin is currently enduring a winter in Ohio so of course moisturizer is a must for me. Long story short I usually use my moms Oil of Olay moisturizer but when I got to target and saw how crazy expensive it is (and how many totally uncalled for versions there are) I went with this stuff at $3. I'm fairly young so I don't think I need all the bells and whistles in the more expensive brands anyway. Does it moisturize my skin? Yes, and it's not dry or flaky looking in the least. Does my skin *feel* moisturized? Not really. I don't like that the label calls it a moisturizer but it's really a mild acne cream. It contains salicylic acid which is probably why my skin doesn't feel moisturized BUT it cleared a few minor pimples within 48 hours use so it's a keeper despite it's misleading label. The one thing I consider a con about this is the awful chemically smell...but it does fade after a few minutes.

Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation
rated 4 of 5
artsypirate 2/16/2012 7:42:00 PM

Got this because I was using the Instant Age Rewind in cocoa 360 but once my summer tan faded it was waaay too dark and I got tired of mixing it with a lighter elf tinted moisturizer. I really liked the consistency and coverage of that foundation so I figured why not try another maybelline foundation since it was on sale at target for $6. The available shades were minimal for darker skin tones (what else is new) but I took a chance on 355 (the darkest shade)which turned out to be a perfect match. It transfers easily but a primer or setting powder might fix that. The finish is really natural looking and even though it transfers a bit it never fades completely and still looks nice at the end of the day in my opinion.
