I tried the yellow gel and didn't like it. Way too thick and the smell was horrible. I love that it doesn't have silicones and I know many other curly hair girls love it, but it just wasn't for me. I was going to try to mix it with other products to see if I could get it to work but I just got rid of it because of the smell.

I am so sad I didn't like this gel. It was very drying to my hair and that was even when I mixed with Re:Coil or other products and I thought the smell was horrible. Couldn't stand it. Bummer city.

This hairspray is really hard to get out of my hair and way too sticky. I'm going to try a few others but ultimately I need something that isn't so sticky and washes out without having to use a clarifying shampoo.

This makes my curly hair crunchy and stringy and when I spray the bottle it starts to leak all over the place. Poorly designed packaging! I have tried using it many different ways because I love the smell, but it's a no go... going in the trash or will give to a friend with straight hair.

This stuff smells great but it makes my curly hair DULL and frizzy. I've tried mixing it with Recoil and other products but it just doesn't work in hair. Bummer because it smells nice and it's natural!

Styling Products -Paul Brown - Stay Straight

I tried to get this to work with the stay straight cream and it is terrible. It makes my hair frizz and it doesn't have any hold. I've tried it combined with many things with it's sister product, with other products. No luck. I think I'm going to throw it out to make room in my cabinet!

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Strawberries and Cream Smoothing Shampoo

Under a buck and works great. I need a few shampoos in my rotation to take out all the build up so I keep this in my shower. I love it and only need a tiny bit to sud up my hair and get it clean. It's super thin so you'll probably over squeeze too much the first time you use it - but once you learn you shouldn't do it again! I'm bummed I didn't know this before I tried it as a ton of it got wasted! But for the price it can't be beat. Now I need to find a good clarifying shampoo to replace the Pantene Pro-V clarifying shampoo that is discontinued! HELP!

Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Strawberries & Cream smoothing conditioner

This smells terrific and helps me comb through my hair in the shower. I think it's great combined with the shampoo and prefer a thin conditioner like this for slip. I also like that there are no cones in it.

Styling Products -Beyond The Zone - Noodle Head

So far, I can't get this to work in my hair. It definitely does not work alone and when I mix with styling liquid (Glacon) or gel it still makes my hair feel dirty and I never have second day hair. It looks great wet and smells good but when it dries it doesn't work for me. I wish I had returned it to Sally's but I thought maybe i could make it work and was hoping to replace the expensive and hard to find Re:Coil (it's also drying out my hair!). I will hang on to it and continue to read MUA to see what combos work for those with similar hair!

Terrible - absolutely no hold and it smells terrible. I tried cocktailing with other products but no luck. It went right in the trash!

Conditioner -Garnier - Triple Nutrition Conditioner

I guess although I need moisture and conditioning, my hair does not respond well to THICK conditioner. That combined with the disgusting smell of apples made me take the time to return it to Target. I like VO5's Strawberry shampoo and conditioner better but I like the "slippery" and thin formulas rather than thick and sticky.

This product smells terrible like rotten apples and it makes my hair dry, crunchy, stringy and gross. So far, I hate all of Garnier's products - they all smell terrible and don't work well for my hair.

I am 41 and my hair's texture has changed drastically and I'm now in the hunt to replace my old cocktail of Re:Coil and Glacon. That, coupled with the fact that I was using a high protein conditioner that was KILLING my hair - my hair is in BAD shape. I've been trying to get on the no silicone bandwagon and tried this one since I didn't see silicone mentioned in the ingredients. This is the second time trying it and it's going back to the store for two reasons: 1. The hold isn't too great (cocktailed with Re:coil) - definitely not has good as Zerran's Glacon but it has Dimethicone so I'm not repurchasing now that it's gone. 2. THE SMELL IS HORRIBLE! Seriously, why would anyone want this in their hair? It smells like alcohol and some nasty medicinal smell. I can't stand myself but I can't wash my hair for a third time today! (Had to wash out a KMS Curls Up Mouse my hairdresser put in my hair today - which also wreaked and left my hair too frizzy.) I wish there was more help here on the boards for the curly haired girls. Naturallycurly.com is so obviously advertiser driven I don't trust any of their editorial suggestions.

Styling Products -A/G - Recoil Curl Activator

I have naturally curly, shoulder length color-treated hair - it's in long layers with shorter layers in the front and on the sides (I don't know the whole 3a 3b terminology). I was introduced to AG: Recoil Curl Activator at least 5 years ago and I've watched it go from $12 for 6 oz to $20. But it is the ONLY thing that really makes my hair look beautiful - when I cocktail with Zerran Glacon styling liquid. I have tried to find a replacement for the past few years with absolutely no luck. BTW as soon as I have 20 reviews I will do a review for Glacon which I can't believe no one talks about. It's the best styling liquid out there! If you have any suggestions for something that does the same thing cocktailed with a gel or alone (only using one product would be so nice) please share and tag your review - AG Recoil alternative!

Powder -Stila - Illuminating Powder Foundation

Is there a secret to the refillable compact and everything fitting nicely? I am on my second refill and both times, the powder refill has cracked because the sponge compartment is not big enough and always sticks up - AND the sticky tape to hold the refill in place gives out rather quickly. I resorted to getting a tiny dot of stick on velcro to keep the refill in place, but because the compartment doesn't close flush, my second refill has broken and it was barely half-way used (bought in 1/08). I am very frustrated with this product because I love the way it looks and feels on my skin, but it's frustrating that they designed the compact so poorly. Any suggestions or am I missing something? I still have the receipt for my refill, is it too embarrassing to return it for another refill?
