Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner

I hate this stuff. I bought it as a cheapo alternative to Wen, and it is *nothing like* Wen. The worst part might be the smell-- it smells like cheap old lady perfume. Disgusting! Just as bad, this stuff doesn't even work!! After using 1/4 bottle on my shoulder-length, color-processed, half-Asian hair, my locks just felt heavy, "hard" and .... almost sticky. They looked dirty, and they didn't lay flat and smooth like they once did with Wen. They had an ugly bend to them at the wrong place. And, of course, I smelled like gross old lady perfume all day long, so much so that it gave me a pounding headache. I couldn't wait to wash it out at the end of the day. And so, my search for an affordable Wen alternative continues....

Lipstick -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain

This stuff is complete crap. The stupid marker tip completely dries out after one use. I tried reviving it by shaking it, wetting the tip with water, storing it with the tip pointed down, etc. -- all to no avail. I wish I could return this and get my $19 back from Sephora, but I threw away all the packaging. I don't even understand how this stuff sells at all because it is completely unusable. (I bought the cha cha color, not that it matters, since you can't even get it to come out of the felt tip.)

Shampoo -Wen by Chaz Dean - Cleansing Conditioners - All

I have (half) Asian hair that has been highlighted into oblivion to hide the ever-rising onslaught of greys, and also gets drenched in ocean water at least 5 times a week. At first I **loved** Wen. It was like getting a Brazilian blowout, albeit it one that only lasts a day. My hair was glorious: soft, bouncy, and silky --- like the hair of my childhood. After about 4 months, I began to hate Wen, initially sparked by their *horrendous* customer service and their cracked-out shipping times. Once I waited 7 weeks for an order, only to receive 2 orders piled on top of each other within a week. That was annoying enough, but let's get to the important part: Wen's performance long-term. Like a stale boyfriend, the wonder of Wen began to fade after about 3 months. Not only was it never there when I needed it, but when it was there, it wasn't the same Wen that I'd initially fallen in love with. Gone was the invigorating tingling sensation it used to impart on my scalp. Gone was the instant bounce and incredible softness I'd come to expect. Sure, it still made my hair soft, but so does plain ol' conditioner and silicone. Also, as others have mentioned, if you don't wash your hair every day with Wen, the silicone coating goes to hell, and your 2nd-day hair is crap. During one of the ridiculous 4-week stretches that my Wen shipment was lost in postal limbo, I started washing my hair using regular conditioner, with a bit of silicone styling product mixed in (no shampoo). The results? Something very similar to what I'd been getting from Wen, for about 1/10 the price. Perhaps I'd still be buying Wen if their customer service people weren't such robotic nincompoops and had extended a modicum of concern toward my frustration. Regardless, my affair with Wen, as exciting as it started, is now officially over. The best thing to come of my failed relationship with Wen is that it eased me into co-washing and away from shampoo. While I have no horror stories (like the hair-loss stories from others) about my Wen relationship, it just wasn't going anywhere. It was wasted time, expectations, and money. I'd still like to try a cheaper brand of cleansing conditioner, though, cuz mixing silicone into my conditioner everyday is kind of a dicey concoction.

Liquid -Shiseido - Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF 42 PA+++

I bought this product only because I'm a surfer, and I heard that many pro surfers use it because it blocks uv rays so well. Well, that part is true-- it's the best sunblock ever. It doesn't budge after hours in the water, and it totally prevents those crappy sunspots/freckles that pop up after an afternoon surfing. If you spill some drops in the sink, you will need a scouring pad and Ajax to scrape it off. It does not budge! So as a waterproof sunblock, this stuff is gold! If I'd found it 10 years ago, I might've salvaged my skin from all that surfing sun damage! However, as a foundation for non-sport use, this stuff sucks because the color selection is horrible. I am half Asian, so I thought for sure I'd find a good match with Shiseido. Nope. If I dare wear this for non-surfing purposes, I end up looking pasty as a zombie. If Shiseido could figure out how to manufacture a decent color palette, this would be GREAT -- since it goes on so smoothly, is really lightweight, and only requires a few drops for the whole face. I'll continue to buy this-- but as a sport sunblock only, not as an actual foundation, (unless I'm planning on going out for Halloween dressed as a corpse).
