Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Lip Balm #1

Mediocre. Product took ages to sink into lips, and you have to deal with weird greasiness/slipperiness for a while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vaseline works better. SPF 4 is a plus, but overall performance was not impressive.

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine Rock Out

Quite a nice color, just the right amount of pigment under most lighting, though sometimes my lips end up looking garishly pink (again, odd lighting!). I didn't find it moisturizing at all, and the product tended to flake a bit. I definitely need a coat of lip balm first. My first MAC lipstick (the SA picked it out when I said I wanted something not too bright). Wasn't spectacular (the dryness is a bit off-putting), so will try other products/brands.

Moisturizers -Natura Bisse - Oxygen Cream
rated 2 of 5

I bought this after reading lots of positive reviews. My skin gets fairly oily, and I found this really too heavy/rich for my face. Maybe this is better for dry skin?

Skincare - Face -Natura Bisse - Green Tea Extract
rated 3 of 5
arashibreeze 4/23/2009 11:27:00 PM

My first serum-type product. I think I expected earth shattering results with all the hype about serums and green tea extract, but I haven't noticed anything in particular really. I use this before moisturizer, day/night, and it seems quite hydrating. I haven't compared this with any other serum though. I'm sure there are less expensive alternatives that deliver the same/better results. The SA claimed that green tea extract is good for young/sensitive skin.

Skincare - Face -Natura Bisse - Glyco peeling plus
rated 1 of 5
arashibreeze 4/23/2009 11:16:00 PM

Peeling products are not to be used haphazardly, and I learnt this the hard way. I read loads of positive reviews, and I was looking for a preferably non-scrub exfoliater, so I picked this up. I used the peel just once, and also began the whole Natura Bisse routine - Oxygen Cream, Oxygen Serum, Sensitive Toner. In less than a week, my skin totally reacted: I had little red bumps all over my face, they weren't tender to the touch or anything, but definitely raised bumps. I went to the dermatologist and he said it was eczema caused by a reaction to the glyco peel (removing my skin's protective layer, then slathering on way too many random products). I used to think my skin was pretty hardy, but seriously: always check with a dermatologist before using hardcore products!

Shampoo -Kiss My Face - Frequent Use Whenever Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
arashibreeze 4/22/2009 5:45:00 AM

Picked this up after reading about it in Marie Claire. Clean, happy scent with nice lathering. A few tangles, but nothing impossible to work with. Not drying or an overly 'detergent'. A bit expensive for shampoo (it's an import here in HK), but does make my hair feel nicer than Dove/Pantene.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Rub rub rub showergel
rated 4 of 5
arashibreeze 4/21/2009 11:51:00 PM

Makes you feel subtly clean without that overscrubbed, tight sensation. The smell isn't wonderful (is this what sea salt smells like?), but it's not overpowering or anything. A bit expensive, but you don't need buckets of it at a time, so the bottle should last awhile. A real change from using drugstore brands!

Mascara -Shu Uemura - Mascara Basic [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5

Really basic, black mascara. No magic lengthening/thickening properties, my lashes just looked more 'coated'. I'd imagine drugstore mascara would do the same for a less wallet-mutilating price.

Cleansers -Jurlique - Balancing Foaming Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
arashibreeze 3/17/2009 4:23:00 AM

I've bought this twice. The first time I loved it (lathers well, fresh scent, nice bottle) so after I was done, I bought another bottle. I had an allergic reaction to another product, so I stopped using this and had to switch to gentle cream cleanser. Not sure I should switch back as this can be quite drying, and pretty expensive.

Eyeliner -Shu Uemura - Liquid Eye Liner - Black
rated 3 of 5
arashibreeze 3/17/2009 4:17:00 AM

I didn't have much luck with this. The line came out really flaky, not smooth at all, and the brush is really hard to master (might just be me). Color comes out unevenly.

Really fresh, slightly sweet scent that actually does linger. Great for summer.

Scrubs -Burt's Bees - Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub
rated 1 of 5
arashibreeze 3/17/2009 4:03:00 AM

I found this really harsh, and strangely clingy/hard to wash off. Ended up using it on elbows/etc - just not my face! Again, I find Burt's Bees products overrated.

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Lip Shimmers
rated 2 of 5
arashibreeze 3/17/2009 3:48:00 AM

I have this in 'Raisin'. It's minty and with a deep color, but it goes on kind of cakey and uneven. Rather drying if applied on bare lips. I like using it after lip balm and before lip gloss, it's more of a lipstick consistency rather than a true 'gloss'. Probably wouldn't purchase again, as Burt's Bees products in general seem over hyped.

Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Mentha Lip Shine
rated 4 of 5
arashibreeze 3/17/2009 2:33:00 AM

I got this as a gift. I found it very glossy, very sticky (when the wind blew, my hair would get stuck to my lips!), and the mint flavor was really fresh and had a slight cooling effect. I always applied it over regular lip balm and lipstick, so I never worried about how moisturizing it was, though the times I did apply it to bare lips - it worked fine. It's not cheap, so I would have to think twice about purchasing. Overall - a fun product with a nice kick of mintiness.
