Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Coconut Revival Cream
appledee2 11/2/2012 12:32:00 AM
I'm absolutely crazy about the coconut smell...it's a nice facial cream. It doesn't really do anything life-changing (I still get breakouts), but it's very calming and it leaves a nice matte finish to my skin. I just recently discovered GOW, and I am never using any other skincare products. My skin's improved sooooooooooooo much since I started using their natural cleansers and moisturizers!

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Vanicream SPF 60 Sensitive Skin Sunscreen
appledee2 6/3/2012 6:35:00 PM
I have the most ridiculously sensitive, acne prone skin. The weird thing is that I had pretty decent skin up until my mid 20's (I am now 30). I had tried everything for my acne, and I've finally narrowed it down to diet and skincare ingredients. I haven't used SPF regularly due to the fact that it freaks out my skin. I have tried everything but I've been stuck with really dark hyperpigmentation because I couldn't wear SPF on my face. I've tried EVERYTHING. Chemical sunblock ingredients break me out, and physical sunblock ingredients leave a really obvious gray/white cast on my tan/olive complexion. I came across a web article written by a dermatologist where she recommended different facial sunscreens. She recommended Vanicream for sensitive and acne skinned-folks like myself. I thought to jaded self, "Yeah, right!!!" I was at at Walgreens last week, and saw this tube on sale for $3.00 off. I debated for a while, because I really believed that I was going to have to add this to my "tried it, but it sucks" cabinet of beauty products. And it's getting quite full....I really should just throw stuff away, but I always stop myself because deep down I believe I was going to magically be able to use it one day. So needless to say, I bought the Vanicream and I've used it everyday for about 10 days now....and it is UH-MAZING! I feels very soothing, and does not irritate my super sensitive cheeks AT ALL. It makes for a wonderful primer underneath my Everyday Minerals medium olive mineral makeup. I use Mario Badescu's rosewater mist to help set my makeup, and my skin looks so freaking good! WHEW!!! This is the longest review I've ever written....and it's because I am so in love with this sunscreen!!!

Liquid -The Body Shop - Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation
appledee2 3/28/2012 1:20:00 AM
I really like this foundation. It's nice for sensitive skin like mine. I can't use foundation with dimethicone so it's really hard for me to find liquid foundations. I can only use mineral makeup. I tried this, and it's really good. I don't use this all the time though because my aesthetician made me swear to only use powder mineral makeup.

Cleansers -The Body Shop - Tea Tree Oil Face Wash
appledee2 12/23/2011 2:51:00 AM
I have super sensitive, acne-prone skin. This cleanser is very 'meh', It didn't really do anything to help with my breakouts so I stopped using it. Then I ran out of tea tree oil that I mix with some baby shampoo to clean my makeup brushes. I decided to pull this out and use it to clean my brushes and it did a fabulous job! It got all the makeup out, plus it has tea tree so it also disinfects. Will probably only re-buy to use as a makeup brush cleaner.

Toners -Mario Badescu - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
appledee2 11/9/2011 10:51:00 PM
I use this to set my mineral makeup. It is fabulous! I have very sensitive skin, and it doesn't react to this at all. It really helps blend out my foundation. I also use this this by itself whenever my face feels dry or if I need to calm down the redness.

Moisturizers -Burt's Bees - Radiance SPF 15 Day Lotion
appledee2 6/8/2011
This review is for the spf bottle version. I have super sensitive skin and I'm always on the lookout for natural skin products, especially a good moisturizer with SPF. I've tried everything, and I've come to the conclusion that I am allergic to all chemical sun protection. I only use mineral makeup, and since I'm not allergic to the titanium dioxide and zinc in it, I thought I'd give this lotion a try. I've been using this for a week now, and it feels amazing on my skin. I like how it makes my face feel nourished and protected without the sting of other spf lotions I've tried. It also hasn't broke me out, which is a FIRST! I break out with EVERYTHING! My only wish is for this product to have a higher spf, but my skin doesn't react well to a higher spf anyway. Quick tip, this will leave a SLIGHT white cast on your face, but it's so much less than other spf's I've tried. I only use 2 squirts and spread it all over as thinly and evenly to alleviate the whiteness. Love this! (so far, crossing fingers...)

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes
appledee2 12/25/2010 1:01:00 AM
This is a GREAT drugstore mascara! I have very sparse, asian lashes, so I am very finicky about mascaras. But with this, I can achieve incredible lashes. This makes me look like I have falsies on! I like to put this on, then wait for it to dry, then re-apply for crazy-thick lashes.

Cleansers -MyChelle - White Cranberry Cleanser

This is a GREAT natural face cleanser for acne-prone skin. It's gently yet gets rid of existing pimples. It also does a great job preventing future breakouts. I'm a huge skincare fanatic. I love to try new things, but I am horribly allergic to pretty much everything. I love how this line is all-natural, yet it does a great job of doing what it claims.

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Glycolic gel
appledee2 8/8/2010 1:51:00 AM
I bought this in hopes of lightening my acne scars. I have naturally dark skin, so my scars are super dark. They have lightened up a bit with the use of this product, but they're still visible. I also tend to have bouts of cystic acne, so by the time my old scars have faded significantly, I have new scars from my cystic acne (annoying, I know!). I also love how nice my skin looks in the morning, especially if I've had a long night's sleep. Overall, this is an awesome exfoliator. If you have sensitive skin, watch out 'coz this stuff stings!

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer spf15
appledee2 7/30/2010 1:25:00 AM
I have the most sensitive skin, and I was sooo happy that my skin actually did okay with this moisturizer. I have noticed old acne scars lighten up a bit, but since I just really have acne-prone skin and constantly break out for various reasons (i.e., change in weather, change in sleeping habits, eating acne-causing foods-I found this out after binging on 3 jars of nutella in a one week time period....basically, I'll just suffer with zits forever...and yes, I have tried EVERYTHING-proactive, birth control, all the soaps, creams, potions imaginable), this hasn't really stopped my cystic acne. I gave this 5 lippies because it actually works. It's not a miracle cream, but then such a thing doesn't really exist.....

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
appledee2 6/15/2010 10:23:00 PM
I originally wrote a 5-lippie review on this and had to change it asap! I loved this at first. I have super sensitive skin and have been looking for liquid makeup that I can wear to work daily without freaking out my skin. I normally use everyday minerals, which is the only foundation that NEVER EVER gave me problems. I've used soooooo many different foundations, both drugstore and department store brands, but found no success. I was at sephora one day and the sales clerk recommended tarte. She said it was all natural and that it was perfect for me. I was getting tired of the hassles that come with applying powder mineral foundation ever morning. I hate having to clean my counter and sink ever day! Anyway, I loved this at first. The shade (incognito) was perfect for my olive/tan skin, and the consistency and finish was pretty good for your everyday look. I used this everyday for 3 weeks, then my face broke out with cystic acne like crazy! I had about 15 all over my face. At first I thought it was from stress or from PMS, but it just got worse and worse. I never thought it was from this product because it claimed to have none of those harmful ingredients that normally triggered acne. So I stopped using it, and I stopped breaking out IMMEDIATELY. I really wanted to love this product. I love Tarte's philosophy and it is very difficult for me to find makeup that matches my skin. I guess it's back to everyday minerals for me.....
