Crème -Rimmel - Match Perfection Cream Gel
antelopes 5/2/2011 7:44:00 AM
This is a cream to gel foundation, claiming to have an instant effect, fresh lightweight feel whilst looking natural and mimic-ing skin tone and texture. I picked this up on impulse in Boots for £6.99, and selected the shade 200 soft beige. This is the most yellow based shade in the range, however it is too fair for my nc30 skin. This is easily corrected with a bronzer and I don't find it looks ashy, perhaps the 'match' technology at work. I think I'm going to purchase 400 natural beige for the summer months. The packaging is a small glass pot with a white plastic stopper (I assume to stop the product drying out) and a blue screw-top lid. The glass jar feels weighty and is nice to see from a drugstore product. The shape of the jar may prove hard to use up the last dregs of the product, and so I removed a lippie for this. On first application, the cream feels cold on the skin. It's a really refreshing feeling, which dulls as you buff the foundation in to the skin. It 'sets' within 15 seconds or so, and then it will not budge. It's easily blendable with synthetic flat top brush, and leaves a matte/satin finish. You can also layer it for heavier coverage once it has 'set' and it never appears cakey. The texture once dried appears smooth. It does not accentuate dry patches and flakiness, but also does not appear oily on problem areas for me such as my nose and chin. I ensure to set with a powder and this will last for about 10 hours. It's lightweight and feels like super moisturised skin. I'm very impressed by this foundation. The technology, packaging and shades seem to mimic those of a high end product. While the exact shade range is not wide, they are 'natural' looking skin tones with no obscene hints of pink or orange that are often seen in the cheaper foundations. The glass jar feels luxurious and the product leaves my skin feeling refreshed, soft and healthy which is rare for a foundation. Add 5 more shades to the range (which knowing Rimmel, is not likely) and it will be one of the best drugstore foundations available.

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
antelopes 12/4/2010 11:36:00 AM
i swapped to using pro longwear after using studio fix fluid for months and months. it's a light to medium coverage foundation, leaning on more of the medium side, described by mac as having a 'natural' finish. the finish of it is lovely, it's slightly glowy looking but not at all dewy. the wear of it is lovely, it stays on all day well and holds up in warm and cooler conditions. it doesn't make me break out or dry my skin out, and it seems to control shine for me as well. the colours however are a little off. i wear nc40 in sff, but nc35 in pro longwear. the nc40 in plw was not as yellow toned as the sff, but nc35 provided a better match. 40 dried slightly orange/beige. i would recommend going to mac to be colourmatched with this one as ordinary colours are not the same. i think it will be a permanent swap from sff to plw for me, i prefer the formula and how it looks. there's also a plus of the bottle coming with a pump. it is different to other long wearing foundations on the market such as estee lauder doublewear as it's not as heavy, and with a wide range of shades.

Blush -NARS - Gina
antelopes 6/28/2009 4:17:00 PM
holy crap, this is my new HG blush. i'm about nc30/35 with blonde hair, and this blush just instantly warms up my face and brings an entire glow to my complexion. it's described as 'tangerine', which whilst i can kind of see an orange hint to it, to me it's pure peach. i LOVE it. it's my first nars blush and i'm going to be buying more! i love how it stays on forever, sometimes i can still notice the blush even if my foundation has started to wear off. the only bad side to this is the packaging, the matte rubberized black nars packaging is lovely when it's new, but it seems to attract every bit of dirt and dust ever and after about a day looks so scruffy :( oh well, the product makes up for it! i cannot sing enough praises for this blush, it's a miracle worker. i would however stay away if you're cool toned or fair, it will look orange.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Brule

i freakin love this eyeshadow. described as a muted creamy beige, it's my first eyeshadow i hit pan on. i use it as a matte highlight, or all over my lid for neutral looks (i'm nc30). sometimes i feel it looks a bit cool on it's own for my skin, but if i add other colours with it it's perfect. i bought it from a cco and regretted it after, thinking it was boring but as soon as i used it i fell in love. i use it pretty much every day and am so close to finishing it! and then i will rebuy and rebuy..

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
antelopes 6/3/2009 10:48:00 AM
i love this foundation. it's fairly thick, and so i find i prefer to use a regular foundation brush as opposed to a 187. i only use a tiny bit and it goes a long way. it's waterproof, rub resistant and will stay on all day. the coverage is medium/full, however i find it doesn't build very well. i would say it was a matte/satin finish. the only negative side to this foundation is that in direct sunlight it doesn't look so good.. i'm not quite sure how to describe it though. i tend to only wear it in winter and on occasions that i know i'll be inside! i wear 2w1 or 3w1 depending on how tanned i am, in mac i tend to vary from nc20 to nc35.

Moisturizers -Johnson & Johnson - 24 hour facial moisturiser
antelopes 6/3/2009 10:45:00 AM
i've actually rebought this moisturizer, i really like it. it's a sort of gel consistency as opposed to a cream, a little goes a long way and it's a really good moisturizer as a base. i use the one for dry/sensitive skin and it feels incredibly soothing on tight or dry skin, providing almost instant relief. it's SO cheap, and i pick it up from sainsburys. another thing i like is that it comes in a glass pot. some people might not like it as they may not feel it's hygenic dipping in your fingers, but i like how nice and weighty the pot is, it keeps the foundation fairly cool and glass is a lot easier to recycle :) i think i shall keep on buying this.

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Skin Foundation SPF 15

Pretty sure I've found my HG foundation. I've swapped to this from EL Doublewear. The finish on this foundation is absolutely fantastic, dewy and glowy without being fake looking or making my skin appear oily. It makes me look like I have perfect skin, and I've even had people like my brother commenting, people who don't tend to notice these sort of things. It doesn't wear as longly as EL dw, but I think I'm expecting too much of it in that aspect. All I can say is that I'm absolutely blown away by this and once I get through my copious samples, I'll be purchasing a full size bottle. An absolutely amazing product.

i LOVE this stuff. i'm not sure whether it's due to my type of skin but it works excellently. i had a huge spot on my chin, dabbed a bit of this on and the next morning it was virtually gone. however, i can't find it in the uk anymore so i just keep it for when i need it. i was surprised when i read other peoples reviews..

Mascara -Max Factor - False lash effect
antelopes 11/8/2008 1:42:00 PM
My new HG mascara. Fairly expensive for a drugstore mascara- £10.99, but I love it. I'd describe it as benefit badgal/dior diorshow sized brush, but just an oversized version of the masterpiece. It's got those plastic synthetic bristles. Makes my lashes incredibly long and curled, very black and doesn't smudge. Separates them well and there is absolutely no clumping. For a bit of volume, I use one coat of maybelline volum express, and I'm away. This stuff is incredible.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Enriched w/ Minerals
antelopes 11/8/2008 1:40:00 PM
This is my new favourite foundation. I LOVE it. I put it on at 7am in the morning, set with a tiny bit of powder and by 6pm it's still there. It lasts forever! The packaging is very handy, a small squeeze tube that you can just pop in your make-up bag, not that you need to considering the time it lasts! I wear shade 303 true nude, and i'm nw25 in mac. i've had friends, even male friends, comment on how clear and fresh my skin looks, and even a MAC ma commented on how lovely it looked yesterday! All zits I had have now cleared up after switching to this foundation too. The only negative I have with it is that it really messes up my 187, it seems to stick the bristles together and is very hard to wash out, and left the white bristles slightly stained. This stuff beats every high end foundation I've ever tried- and it's only £5.99. I'll be buying this until the very end!

Lipstick -MAC - Emanuel Ungaro Lipstick - Pure Rose (Lustre)
antelopes 10/18/2008 2:22:00 PM
i LOVE this lipstick. so much that i'm considering buying a back-up. i'm nc25, blonde hair, blue eyes. it's a really light pink, looks warm in the tube but cool applied on and i'm fairly neutral and the undertone makes my teeth look whiter. i can wear this without any other make-up at all, or with dark eyes which is great. i love the lustre formula, though it is more drying than other lustres i have. i generally however, have to re-apply about 3 times a day, which is making me consider buying a backup i love love love it, and i feel sorry for those who don't find it works for them! it's a lovely lipstick.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Nails Inc
antelopes 8/30/2008 7:45:00 AM
These are some of my favourite nail polishes. You get 10ml of product in a small, round 'jar'. I find the lid (handle of the brush) very easy to hold although it isn't long and narrow like most polishes. The brush is very narrow and holds just the right amount of product to get a lovely even application. There's many colours to choose from and a lot of pinks which are my favourites!

The nozzle on this product is so disgustingly cheap and breaks/leaks all the time, it smells odd, does nothing and leaves a horrible feel to my hair. Waste of money!

Mascara -Chanel - Mascara Exceptionnel
antelopes 8/17/2008 3:29:00 PM
This is my new all time favourite mascara, although the price tag is definitely not my favourite. My lashes are naturally long and dark, however they are pin straight and I really like the false, doll eye lash look. I actually only apply this to the underside of my top lashes, and pull it up whilst rotating it. This really works for me and creates an amazing curl without even using a curler and volumizes as well as combs my lashes. However, I find it quite hard to reach the short ones close to the inside of my eye. It doesn't flake or smudge either! For extra oomph, I use a coat of Maybelline Volum' Express over the top and it just makes my lashes look so full and thick. The packaging is very elegant and classy, although I think I'd prefer a cheaper price tag!

Styling Products -Got 2 Be - Crazy Sleek Hot Smooth Iron & Blow Dry Lotion
antelopes 8/17/2008 3:24:00 PM
I bought this whilst in the US and I've had it for 2 years and it still hasn't ran out! My hair is naturally straight but I straighten it to get a sleek finish. I towel dry my hair first, spray some product into my hands and then put it all through the ends of my hair (where I concentrate the most heat). It leaves my hair feeling nice and silky, also it smells absolutely divine! Unfortunately this range isn't available in the UK so I haven't been able to buy it again, but I would if I had the chance.
