Mascara -Trish McEvoy - Lash Curling Mascara

This is the most awesome mascara ever. It doesn't budge once you put it on, and it comes off in nicely too--no raccoon eyes. I purchased this in Auburn, which makes my blue eyes pop. Although it is more money than I normally pay for mascara, it is worth every penny. No flaking and no smudging--I love it.

Crème -MAC - Studio Tech
annemariealex 2/26/2006 7:07:00 PM
I normally adore MAC products, but Studio Tech was a huge disappointment. My HG of foundations is Studio Fix, but I thought I would try the Studio Tech for the winter time as it is more moisturizing. The color (NC15) matches perfectly, but it is virtually impossible to get even and non-streaky coverage. I used a foundation brush to apply, but all I got were visible brush streaks on my face. Also, compared to Studio Fix which last for ages, Studio Tech, by virtue of its texture, runs out very quickly. I will finish it, using it as a spot concealer, but will not repurchase.

Conditioner -Rene Furterer - Karite Nourishing Conditioning Cream

I have super dry, frizzy hair and I find that this conditioner (along with the Karite shampoo) makes my hair feel soft and look shiny. The smell leaves a lot to be desired though!

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
annemariealex 12/29/2005 9:44:00 PM
This is my HG of foundations. I have dry skin, but do not find this to be too drying at all--I much prefer it to liquid foundation. I never use the sponge that comes in the compact though, that makes the makeup look heavy and cakey IMO. The Studio Fix provides a flawless finish and light (i.e., non mask-like) coverage when applied with a powder brush. Although it costs more than most MAC products, it lasts forever and is quite cost effective (at least for me). You need to make sure that the makeup artist takes the time to match your skin tone properly, though, as the color selection is overwhelming.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant
annemariealex 12/29/2005 9:33:00 PM
This product makes my skin glow, but I have to admit, not without some pain. The first time I used this product, my face stung and burned like crazy until I put on some of the moisturizer, which calmed things down a bit. The directions say to use it only once a day or every other day until your skin becomes used to it. Apparently, my skin still hasn't gotten used to it (6 months later)as it still stings upon application, but I get great results, so I put up with it!

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Blemish Fighting Solution
annemariealex 12/29/2005 9:27:00 PM
I love all of Paula's skincare line, which I started using about 7 months ago upon the recommendation of a friend. I have always had a mostly good complexion, but battled with minor blemishes here and there on a seemingly constant basis. Since using the 1% BHA, along with the Blemish Fighting solution I have not had one single breakout! I have not noticed any side effects (i.e, dryness, irritation) from this product that some other reviewers have mentioned.

Since using the 1% BHA, along with the Blemish Fighting solution I have not had one single breakout! Everyone comments on my flawless complexion--I credit it to Paula's products, the only skincare line that has consistently worked for me. And, the best part is that most of Paula's stuff is reasonably priced, too!

Hair Styling Tools -Anna Sui - Hair Brush
annemariealex 12/29/2005 9:08:00 PM
I love this brush! I have very thick, fairly unruly hair and this brush does a great job. My hair feels really nice and silky after I use it. The mixture of the shorter natural and the longer synthetic bristles is perfect for distributing the natural oils and getting through to the bottom layers. Although it was fairly expensive for a hair brush, I think it is reasonably priced for the type of brush it is, i.e. boar bristle and synthetic. Besides, like every other reviewer has mentioned, the design is unique and IMO, makes it worth the extra cost. Was very tempted by all of the matching boudoir accessories I saw at the Anna Sui boutique in NYC...

Shampoo -Paul Mitchell - Super Strong daily shampoo
annemariealex 12/13/2005 7:26:00 AM
My hairdresser recommended this line, so I went out and purchased it. My hair texture is frizzy and dry, and this shampoo only exacerbated the problem. After using this product, my hair felt like plastic and straw at the same time. Needless to say, I will not be repurchasing.
