Eyeliner -Calvin Klein - Electric Edge Liquid Eyeliner Pen (ALL)
anglophilic 6/30/2011 7:52:00 PM
I have this in Electric Black and I love it! It's very easy to use, goes on jet black and stays on all day without transferring, what more could you ask for? P.S. Just a little tip: I got mine really cheap at http://www.eastendcosmetics.co.uk, so check it out if your interested in buying this ;)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Star Violet (Veluxe pearl)
anglophilic 4/23/2011 8:14:00 PM
Star Violet may be my favourite eyeshadow out of all the ones I own, and I own quite a lot of eyeshadows. I absolutely love it! I bought it because it looked gorgeous in the pan, but to be honest, I didn't think it would be as versatile as it it. If you wear a pink-ish eyeshadow on the lid (like Jest) and SV in the crease, SV will look like a gorgeous purple colour. If you pair it with a more beige/golden lid colour (like All That Glitters) SV shows up as more of a reddish/bronze colour. It is absolutely gorgeous and makes my blue eyes pop like crazy! I definitely recommend Star Violet. It's absolutely amazing and worth every penny! I will definitely buy it again when I run out.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Jest Eyeshadow
anglophilic 4/23/2011 8:07:00 PM
Jest is just beautiful! It's the perfect everyday eyeshadow for me (I'm very pale, NC15, with light blonde hair and blue eyes). I love to wear Jest on the lid paired with Star Violet in the crease - those colours work wonderfully together. Whenever I run out of Jest I will definitely repurchase it, it's perfect!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe
anglophilic 4/19/2011 2:10:00 PM
To be honest, I bought Satin Taupe mainly because of the hype. I'd heard and read so many good things about it that I just couldn't resist getting it. And I'm so glad I did! ST is an absolutely gorgeous colour. It's neutral but definitely not boring. And even though I doubted it, it does bring out my blue eyes really nicely :) I added a picture of me wearing Satin Taupe in the crease paired with Jest on the lid. It's not a close-up, but I think it shows how wearable this shadow is, even if you are extremely pale (like I am, NC15). I just love it! You can wear it day or night, depending on what colours you pair it with, and it will look fabulous every time!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cranberry eye shadow
anglophilic 4/17/2011 7:43:00 PM
I'd seen Cranberry online, here on MUA, on youtube and on the Mac website. I wanted it so badly, but I wanted to see it in real life before buying it, so I waited until I could visit an actual Mac shop (there isn't one where I live...). So, last week I finally went to the Mac shop in Liverpool, and which shadow stood out of the crowd if not Cranberry? I bought it and now I'm in love with it! It was everything I wanted it to be... a deep berry colour that really brings out my blue eyes. I'm very pale (NC15) so it looks quite dark on me, but in a good way. I added a picture where I've paired it with All That Glitters... I think it looks fabulous!

Eye Shadow -MAC - All That Glitters
anglophilic 4/17/2011 7:28:00 PM
What can I say? Yet another gorgeous and very wearable lid colour by Mac. It works well on its own and perhaps even better paired with a darker colour in the crease. I think All That Glitters on the lid would look good with any crease colour that I'd wanna wear. It's just so versatile! I added a picture where I've paired it with Cranberry, and I think that combination brings out my blue eyes beautifully :)

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
anglophilic 4/17/2011 7:14:00 PM
This highlighter is absolutely AMAZING! I recently went to the Mac shop in Liverpool and bought loads of stuff, and out of all the products I bought this one surprised me the most. I've tried other highlighters but never really felt the need to use one on a daily basis, but this one is so incredible that I can't go a day without it! I have very dry skin on my cheeks and a t-zone that tends to get oily throughout the day (which makes the dryness of my cheeks even more noticable), but with this on my cheekbones my skin basically looks airbrushed. I'm not kidding you, this stuff is sooo good! The first time I tried Soft and gente I saw my mum, and she immediately commented on how nice my skin looked. She was like "you look amazing, I need to get one of those myself!". Yes, it is a little pricey, but it is so awesome that it's totally worth the money. To be honest, I would probably pay a lot more for it if I had to - I can't imagine using any other product now. Soft and gentle is the best highlighter ever! (I'm very pale, NC15 if anyone was wondering.)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Sable Eye Shadow
anglophilic 4/16/2011 8:27:00 PM
Yet another absolutely gorgeous colour by Mac. I added a picture where I have Sable in the crease paired with Gleam on the lid, and that is a combination I really like (just ignore my tired eyes...). Sable is very easily applied and I think it would look good on any eye colour. It really brings out my blue eyes, which is one reason why I like it so much. I think Sable is a very interesting colour... it is very noticable, although at the same time it's neutral enough for me to feel comfortable wearing it during the day. I definitely recommend this one!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Gleam (Lustre)
anglophilic 4/16/2011 8:19:00 PM
I love Gleam so much! It's one of my absolute favourite lid colours and it looks gorgeous with, well, any crease colour. I'm very pale (NC15) so it shows up on my skin, but I'd imagine it would work wonderfully as a highlight colour for women with darker skin than I. I don't understand why people dislike the lustre finishes so much... I personally don't have a problem with them - if I use a flat shader brush and pat it on I barely get any fallout. I added a picture where I've paired it with Sable (in the crease), and I think that combination looks really good (too bad my tired eyes don't look as good...) :)

Polishes -Mavala - Nail Color Creme - Mexico
anglophilic 1/26/2011 9:54:00 AM
I absolutely love the deep purple colour of this polish. However, I couldn't dislike its consistency more. It applies way too thickly; I only applied one coat of this and it was so thick it just would not dry! I waited for ages for it to dry, but after a couple of hours I just gave up and removed it. So, even though the colour is lovely, I will never ever use this again, which is such a shame. If the consistency was right, this would be perfect...

Brows -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - brow ex-press
anglophilic 1/25/2011 5:11:00 PM
The brow shadow "Blonde 1" in this kit is what I've been using for my brows every single day that I've worn makeup since I got it, which was 3 years ago, and I still have some left = AMAZING value for money! To quote juno104 below: my eyebrows are blond, thin and basically non-existent. You can't really see them at all if I leave them natural. I have very fair skin and light blonde hair, so anything darker than blond just looks silly on me. This shade is just perfect! It's my HG eyebrow shadow, to say the least. However, the reason why I'm not giving it a 5 is because I don't really like the other products in this kit. The "Blonde 2" shadow is too dark for me, the wax doesn't hold my brows in place, I prefer other highligters, and I never use the stencils. I have tried the stencils, but I think they're difficult to use and simply prefer to apply the shadow without using a stencil. So, to sum it up: I'm in love with the "Blonde 1" shadow, and would repurchase this kit (only) if I couldn't find that shade on its own. However, I don't really like the other products in this kit, and since all I want is one of the shadows, this kit is definitely pricey!

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Coco Lotion
anglophilic 1/25/2011 4:53:00 PM
I really like Coco Lotion and will definitely buy it again at some point. I love the way it gives my skin this really smooth, satin-like feel, and the way it doesn't clash with any of my perfumes. The are only two cons I can think of: I'm not very fond of the smell (and yes, I know it's unscented and that the ingredients are the only thing you can smell), and also, I think it's a bit pricey. I do think it's worth the money, but it's not like a little goes a long way - you have to use quite a bit of it, so I think they should lower the price of this one. Saying that, I absolutely love Lush and most of their products, so I will be returning to Coco Lotion. In my opinion, it's a very good every day body lotion that works well with sensitive skin :)

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
anglophilic 1/20/2011 6:56:00 PM
I have tried a lot of mascaras, everything from Maybelline's Great Lash to Dior's Diorshow (well, not everything, but I have tried plenty), and this is one of the few I always come back to. With High Impact, clue's in the title - it gives you bold, black lashes with lots of volumes. It's very gentle (I hate mascaras that stink of perfume), and although it's easy to remove, it stays on really well all day long. One coat is enough for daytime, but I usually apply two coats anyway since I love the effect of two coats of High Impact. I will probably repurchase this when I run out, which I will because I use it every day :) The only con I can think of is that it does get dried out rather quickly, but I would still choose this over Diorshow any day.

Polishes -OPI - Glow Up Already
anglophilic 1/20/2011 6:44:00 PM
I was looking for a nail polish to match my Mildew eyeshadow by UD, and fell in love with this one. 'Glow Up Already!' is a beautiful green colour that basically consists of glitter in different colours. Most of the glitter is green, some is golden, and some is copper. But there's obviously more of the green than the other ones since the overall impression is that it's a green nail polish. From what I understand it is limited edition, so I probably won't be able to buy it again even if I wanted to. I would be willing to repurchase it though, since it's such a beautiful colour. I've gotten compliments when I've worn this, it's just so pretty! I don't know about the staying power if you use this nail polish on its own. I use it with the China Glaze Matte Magic Flat Finish Top Coat as a base coat (strange, I know) and Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat as a top coat, and during the 2,5 days I've worn it this time only one nail has chipped so far - which is NOT bad for me, considering that I have incredibly thin, brittle nails that peel away easily. On my sort-of-healthy nails it hasn't chipped at all. But, on the one nail where it has chipped, a rather huge chunk came right off. Hope you'll find this helpful :) --- UPDATE: This nail polish is so hard to remove that is actually makes me want to wear is less often than I otherwise would. Still a really good nail polish though!

Eyeliner -The Body Shop - Eye Definer
anglophilic 1/20/2011 6:21:00 PM
Let me just start off by saying that this is my HG black eyeliner! I really don't understand how people here on MUA can dislike it so much, I think it's pretty much perfect. It's very well pigmented, creamy and incredibly easy to apply, it doesn't smudge and it lasts for ages. Literally. I've used mine almost every single day since I bought it 3 years ago, and I still have a little more than half of it left. If I, for some reason, want extra staying power I just apply some translucent powder on top of it and it works a treat! I seldom do that though because it never goes anywhere or smudges even if I don't. It stays put all day, jet black and lovely. Love it! Will definitely repurchase when I run out.
