Blush -Kevyn Aucoin - The Creamy Moist Glow in Euphoria (Apricot Rose)
angielynne 6/18/2009 3:33:00 PM
This is a really interesting shade. It is sort of like someone mixed berry tones with orange/peach tones. It is on the warm side. I have very fair (nc20ish) skin and blue-green eyes and this looks great on me. The product itself is very easy to use, light weight and dewy feeling. Blends very easily I am just starting to get into gel/cream blushes and this product is why. Usually they just slip right off of my skin and feel really itchy/heavy on my break out prone skin, this one stays on great, feels light and doesn't break me out. I have to add, a little bit of this goes a long way. This jar will last a long long time!
Toners -Mario Badescu - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
angielynne 5/18/2009 6:36:00 PM
I LOVE this stuff! I am not a huge fan of rose scent but I got this to set my make up and as a a light moisturizer and it is sooooo great! The smell is soft and pretty and doesn't bother my sensitive head (I am prone to migraines.) I use this product as a light moistuizer by spraying after I put on other products or just at random times through the day. I use it to set my make up. I spray it on my eye brushes with I use pigment powders that I want to use wet, it works much better than water. I also spray it on my brush before I put on face mask, which I like to put on with a brush anyhow. Sometimes I even spray it on my hair, when it is dry and I have flyaways. Bottom line is this is a great product that anyone can find uses for! It is one of the few products I buy over and over and consider a must have for EVERYONE!!
Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
angielynne 5/8/2009 10:22:00 PM
I will be fast and simple with my review since there are plenty of others. Just FYI: my skin is combination/break out prone and I wear 20 in this formula. Pros: Feels very lightweight, nice finish, lasts pretty good on. No break outs. Cons: can look chalky if not blended properly, medium ish coverage so if you have a break out you may still need concealer with it. Over all I really like this foundation. I was going to try a matte Chanel one, but I got this instead after too many reports of breakouts for the Chanel and I am really glad I tried this. On thing is you want to use a make up remover or just wash really really well, because once on this foundation doesn't want to leave.
Mascara -Make Up For Ever - Smoky Lash Extra Black Mascara
angielynne 3/4/2009 12:31:00 AM
I am a big MUFE fan! I love just about everything from them that I have used. I do think that they, in general, their products can be high maintenance. By that I mean that they often take more skill to use because they are just not always very user friendly. All of those things aside, I really do like this mascara! I love the brush because it really gets to the root of my lashes without any real effort, the brush just wiggles itself in between my lashes and gets right to the root. The shade is nice and black and you really get a fast impact, you don't have to put on a lot of coats, like I usually end up having to do with other mascaras. These does give me thickening and lengthening, also gives me great lift without using a curler. To the negatives, and why I give four instead of five, is it can be very clumpy. I do have to use my metal lash comb with it often. Overall, this is still my favorite mascara thus far. Also, because pictures speak more than words, here is a before and after with Smokey Lash. Nothing else is on my lashes, I also did not curl or comb them with my tweezerman metal lash comb.
Well, I really thought I would never like this product and would have no real use for it, as I really don't get true cystic acne but I am so glad I tried it! I use this twice a day, before I use the acne serum and oil free moisturizer spf 17. Like I said, I am not remarkably prone to cystic acne, but I am prone to getting blackheads (I really dislike that term but there it is). Using this product with the serum and also the enzyme cleanser over the last couple months has totally turned around my skin. I don't use it as a spot treatment often but I do use it with the drying mask as they suggest, and together I used that as a spot treatment. At this point I don't need a spot treatment anymore! I will continue to use this to prevent breakouts! If you are going to use mario badescu products, I really feel that you must just try using all mario products(by that I mean all products that you use being MB, not using every single thing they sell ;) ), I think you will be disappointed with using just one product, especially since one of what is part of your current regime could be part of the problem-- but together, once you get the mixture of products you need, it is a symphony, or it can be and has been for me.
I use this "serum" twice a day, started a couple months ago. I use it right after I use the buffering lotion all over, and together, with the Enzyme cleanser, my skin is now clear. I don't think that this works well for a spot treatment, it is very gentle, but it seems to work well to improve, slightly, the overall appearance of my skin, as well as be preventative, keeping my pores from developing clogs. I won't go without this and the buffering lotion, just went through my first bottles of both and just ordered two more of each. It is more like a dense gel, than a true serum, I smear it on my face and after it absorbs, which doesn't take long and I can wear it under my make up. It is my experience that mario badscu products work most effectively with each other. They are very simple, mostly gentle products (glycolic products in the line are pretty strong) that work steadily not often quickly. It has been about two months of regular use of my current routine to really turn my skin around, but it happened without excess scarring or drying. This product was part of my routine and it will stay with it. I don't think it is like the over the counter strong spot treatments, so if that is what you are looking for, then you should not buy this. I want to add that the bottle is a pain in the bum, not easy to get out once it gets down low, that is why i gave the packaging such a low
Lipstick -Avon - Anew Youth Awakening Lipstick- ALL COLORS
angielynne 10/18/2008 6:43:00 PM
I bought this lipstick for $7.50US each( technically they were 10$ for one and half off the other). I got the Berry Bloom shade, which is a pretty, traditional pinkish berry that is on the warmer side. I also got the Perfectly Natural shade, which is a really hard to describe shade that contains mix of an orange-red, brown, and seems to have some plum in it. Like I said, it is really hard to describe but I like it. Pluses of this product are: Good color payoff Creamy texture but still light weight the packaging- it is a little odd that the top is wider than the bottom but if you need to stand it, it will stand on the bottom without tipping over but that isn't the plus. The plus is that it is just very pretty. iIt is a gold tube encased in clear plastic. Looks very high end, to look at it you would not think it was avon. color selection is good. very wearable shades and nothing too OTT shimmer shades are not really shimmer, it just shows on your lips as light catching making your lips look more dimensional rather than sparkley. Minuses are: It can kind of wander if you are not careful. It doesn't on its own, only if you smear it. It does have a scent, sweet and kind of fruity, tho it is not over-powering and does not linger. I am only putting it as a minus because many don't like scents in their lipsticks. The feature that makes me an addict already is the super fast results on my lips. I have been using products on my skin that seem to dry out my lips, also I have been wearing glosses that also tend to dry out my lips so my lips were not in great shape. They weren't so dry that they were cracked or anything, but there has been a lingering dryness that nothing seems to get rid of, even with exfoliating. That was until I got this lipstick...... YESTERDAY!! Almost immediately my lips were smoother and the dryness was going away. Today my lips are soooooooo smooth I am in shock. I have never seen my lips look and feel so smooth! I think that this may not be a constantly wearing lipstick, It seems that my lips may become a little sensitive so I will be interchanging it with a hydrating gloss that I got the other day. That being said, this is a great product that I hope stays around for a long time. I already feel like I cannot do without it.
I actually got this a couple months ago at Marshalls for about 6$, and I bought the last two, just because I really like Too Faced and it seemed like a great deal. The colors are very soft and pretty, I think this is a great set for most all skin tones. The glosses come in a pearly soft pink shade and a clearish gold shade. They are thick, they remind of me the smashbox lip brilliance formulas which are supposed to be a hybrid of lipstick and gloss. The eyeshadows are pretty great, all very blendable and wearable. I never would have imagined myself loving a yellow shadow but this one is such a perfect highlighter on me, I am in love with it. The brown and pink go on very soft and somewhat shimmery. The really love the sorta nude, fleshy shade but it has a silver glitter in it that some may not love. This box has converted me to a highlighter. I never had been interested in highlighters, I never really knew what the purpose of them was.... seemed to me that they just made people look sweaty. I really love this one tho, it just melts into my skin to give me a really healthy glow. The pink shade that comes with is very light, if you are super pale like I am you can use it as a blush, if you are darker, maybe a highlighter over your usual blush. My only real complain with this is that the highlighter/blush in the center started falling out almost immediately. Not the metal part, the product itself was not up against the pan, it was coming forward and crackingt. I actually just dug out the product and used the rubbing alcohol technique to press them back into the pan, so far it seems to be holding up much better. As I mentioned, I did buy two but I cant see myself ever running out of one, as one mentioned, these are very generous portions.
Treatments (Eye) -Avon - Anew Ultimate Contouring Eye Serum
angielynne 8/14/2008 1:29:00 AM
I like this product. I don't really have any lines around my eyes but when I use this system I notice that I look more rested and in general, my eyes look more alive. I do tend to get a little bit of a difference under my eyes, i would not call them bags but a little sunk in if I don't get enough rest and this takes care of that. A *note* about the use of this product, the cream is for day and night, however, the elixir is only for night time use. It sound like other may be using it during the day but it is not made for day time use.
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin
angielynne 6/6/2008 10:42:00 PM
If you have ever smelled a freshly opened bag of potpurri and said to yourself " I wish I could smell like that!!" than you will love this scent! If, on the other hand, you are like me and don't want to smell like that -- don't buy this! I think I was hoping it would smell close to the Temptation pumpkin pie scent, but it does not at all!
Scrubs -Mario Badescu - Rolling Cream Peel with A.H.A.
angielynne 6/6/2008 1:35:00 AM
I have to admit I am a MB devotee, I love his stuff and it has done wonders for my skin. I have been on the search for a safer way to exfoliate my skin that would not cause dryness or irritation, this seems to fit that bill perfectly. It removed dead skin quickly and gently leaving my skin feeling refreshed and smooth, but not red, sensitive, or dry. One plus that this product has over exfolitaters that use scrubbing agents, you cannot over do this, the product is removed as you are exfolitating. That is certainly a perk to those that are prone to overdoing it while using a scrub. Another thing that this is good for is for those that self tan! I used this on my knuckles and some other places where the tanner had collected w/dry skin and it took it all off, only the dry parts--it did not disturb the rest of the color on my skin. I can comfortably recommend this for people who break out, but also those who are prone to dryness.
Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Rainkissed Leaves
angielynne 6/4/2008 1:37:00 AM
This is a unique scent for me. I don't usually go for anything with leaves in the title but this was a gift. What is also unusual with this, for me, it that I REALLY don't like it but I also REALLY do like it. To explain, when I smell this in the bottle I really don't like it at all. It kind of reminds me of fresh cut grass, I don't like the smell of that either. After I have had the scent on for a little while, then I LOVE it!! It leaves this super-fresh outside after a good rain scent behind that is so pretty and feminine. Also, like one other poster pointed out, the scent last for a long time!! So I will definitely buy full sizes of this scent and I can recommend it, but if you smell it in the bottle and don't like it, still try wearing it for a bit before you decide you do or don't like it! It smells totally different on.
Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Famous Dave's Moisture Tan
angielynne 6/1/2008 10:39:00 AM
I came across this product from reading on MUA. For the most part, you can only buy it online, from the Famous Dave's website, though they look like they offer their line to be sold in salons, I have never seen it in one in my area. I am a very pale person, though I am not prone to burning, with all the concerns of sun damage and cancer I gave up on tanning beds a couple years ago. Ever since I have been on the search for a great self-tanner, because I do like a nice bronzed look sometimes. I think that this is a great self-tanner. It has no added fragrance, so there is much less of that baked skin smell that you get with most ST's, there still is some aroma as the tan develops, but that going to be there with all tanners that use the DHC. There are different formulas, I have the Moisture Tan and it does live up to its name. It includes sesame and jojoba oils in its formula, both are known for their benefits to the skin. It comes in a pump bottle. The color that it gives is a natural as I have ever got from using tanning beds, and it does not take many applications to go from very pale to totally bronzed. Within two applications I was quite dark. Before I start self- tanner I do a really good exfoliation the day prior to tanning. I use gloves and work in the lotion until it feels tacky, then let it dry the rest of the way, which is very fast. For my hands, I do one at a time, always using a gloved had. I also do not apply to knuckles/knees/elbows. I will just blend a little lotion when it is a t the tacky stage before being totally dry, that seems to work well for me. Once this lotion soaks in, it is soaked in, meaning I was not left feeling dirty or sticky at all. The biggest difference that I notice between this tanner and others I have tried is in the color and how natural it looks. Most other tanners that I have tried in the past, it almost looked like I was painting my skin, dying it rather than tanning. Often, my skin would take on a two-toned look, like a opal, but with tanner; you could see the pale skin underneath a bronze sheen. With this, it looks very natural and very even. I could not be happier with the color as well as how moisturized it makes my skin feel. This product is definitely worth a try!
I bought three dazzle glasses, Ms. Fizz-Money, honey- Love Alert, of three this seems to have the most color in the actual gloss. That being said, it seems that they are all mostly tinted with color, even with this one. I really love this gloss, it is a Fuschia with bluish, purplish glitter. It is more bold of a look than some of the other Dazzleglasses, however, it is very wearable for day or night. I think the sparkles are great, like beautiful stars sparkling on the lips, and there is no grit from the glitter at all, which is very surprising to me. If you are a girl that loves glitter, like I do, than you will love the DG's. On a side note, if you are looking for a coordinating lipstick to wear with this color, than Nyx Fusion is for you, it has the same Fuschia shade with a blue cast to it (think pearl). It goes PERFECT with Ms. Fizz, they could be sisters.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Irresistible Apple
angielynne 5/5/2008 3:57:00 AM
I really love this, it is my new favorite BBW scent. I got this in the splash and cream(rather than the lotion). I ordered this online, so I did not have the chance to get to know the scent beforehand, but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't usually like to smell like fruit (or foods in general) and I did not really like the other apply scent that I tried from BBW a long time ago but this is much different. When I first put it on I can definitely smell a juicy, dark red apple but it does develop into something a bit more complex. I don't think I would say it has a floral scent but its description says it had blond wood and soft musk, and they do make it a much sexier and more sophisticated scent then just smelling like an apple.
