Treatments -Clearasil - Pimple Blocker Pen
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 9/25/2009 4:21:00 PM

I believe this is a replacement for Clearasil's rollerball acne treatment that's been discontinued. That was an amazing product and so far, this is, too. I bought some last night to deal with a recent crop of pimples. Just overnight, I've seen a big improvement - just as I had when I used the rollerball. It's 2% salicylic acid, a clear fluid, no dimethicone or frou frou ingredients. It goes on clear - just let it soak in for a few minutes before moisturizing. It doesn't irritate my skin at all. It reduces redness and really just makes those annoying under the skin pimples shrink like magic! It's about $10.50, a little more than I like paying for drugstore acne treatments, but hey - if it works, then that's money well spent! Here's what Clearasil says about it: Benefits Discreet, easily portable format Gets to work immediately to help stop a pimple in its tracks Clears existing pimples, visibly reducing redness and swelling Fast absorbing, clear formula — disappears on the face Maximum strength acne fighting ingredient Precision applicator for convenient usage Directions for use Use the product as soon as you feel a pimple is coming, on existing pimples or on pimple prone areas. Cleanse the skin thoroughly, as needed, before applying medication. Remove cap and twist the bottom of the pen until sufficient product appears on the applicator. Cover the affected area with a thin layer one to three times a day. Replace cap after each use. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day of every other day. Ingredients Salicylic acid 2%

Bronzers -Mary Kay - Mineral Bronzing Powder
rated 2 of 5

I have NOT tried this product -- this is a PSA. I really wanted to try this but am allergic to talc. I could not find an ingredient list online, but my sister who's a Mary Kay rep looked into it and it does contain talc, as do all the other mineral products from Mary Kay.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Body Oil with Sesame
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 2/20/2009 12:31:00 PM

I just bought this last night based on reviews and already love it! I used it last night and this morning after showering - just a couple of drops were all I needed for my whole body. My skin has been really dry and itchy lately. I'd been slathering on lotions after showering, but they felt goopy and sticky - and my skin would still be dry. So far, this is great! My skin feels soft and moisturized with no stickiness and I love the light scent. It smells light and floral and a bit tropical. Very nummy! I do have a couple of complaints: 1) I wish it came in a pump bottle. 2) I feel it's a bit over-priced - but then again, it seems it'll last a long time, so maybe it's not that bad.

Scrubs -Alba Botanica - Pineapple Enzyme Facial Scrub
rated 4 of 5
angelmae78 12/29/2008 1:27:00 PM

I've really grown to like this product, although like many of you, I did not like it at all at first. I now use it after Alba's papaya enzyme mask. Here's what I do - a couple of times a week at night, I apply the papaya enzyme mask to clean skin. After 5 - 10 minutes, I rub on this scrub. Yes, there are few "scrubbies" -- but the main exfoliation occurs not from the scrubbies but from the enzymes, which results in less physical wear & tear on the skin. I leave the scrub on for five minutes or so, then rinse and wipe gently with a warm wash cloth to remove all residue. I follow with a rich, gentle moisturizer. I've used this as as I've changed birth control, and it's really helped to keep the hormonal acne at bay, and has also helped to gently smooth dry, winter flakes. Like others have said, this isn't a cleanser - it won't remove makeup. It also doesn't work like an apricot scrub - in my humble opinion it's much better because it uses fruit enzymes rather than hard, scratchy walnut shells or apricot pits to exfoliate.

Masks -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Papaya Enzyme Facial Mask
rated 4 of 5
angelmae78 12/29/2008 1:20:00 PM

I've had this product for a while, but just recently started to use it regularly. I find that it works wonders on dry, flaky skin -- I smooth it on at night, leave it for five or ten minutes, rub on Alba pineapple enzyme scrub and leave it for another few minutes, then rinse everything off and follow with a rich moisturizer. It really has helped to keep acne at bay, too. I recently switched birth control and knew that it would trigger hormonal acne. This stuff helped to quickly get rid of acne that cropped up and to prevent new acne. I find it less drying and irritating than a salicylic acid cream or gel. I do avoid my eye area, as it causes irritation on my eyelids. The only other complaint I have is that I wish it came in a tube instead of a tub.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 11/9/2008 3:15:00 PM

This is a wonderful cream. My only gripe is that I wish it came in a tube. But, that said, this is every effective at moisturizing my sensitive, eczema prone, dry skin that gets the occasional pimple (usually due to stress or hormones). I use this as a night cream after using Neutrogena's extra gentle cream cleanser and find that my skin is very soft in the morning. I just rinse (as opposed to wash) my skin in the morning, then use a lighter day moisturizer. My skin is so, so happy! Makeup goes on smoothly and my skin is more even and soft and I break out less often than when I was using oil-free cleansers and moisturizers.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 11/9/2008 3:09:00 PM

I first bought this cleanser to keep at my boyfriend's house -- I wanted something inexpensive and gentle to keep there. I ended up liking it so much that I now use it at home as well. My skin is sensitive and tends to be dry - but still prone to the occasional breakout. Since using this, my skin is happier and even though it contains oil and isn't a traditional foamy cleanser, I break out less than before! Even better, it takes off makeup easily and is inexpensive. I find it to be gentler, more effective, all around better than Cetaphil, which tended to irritate some areas of my skin and left a film on my skin. I'll keep on buying this for sure!

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Herbaceuticals Inc. - Naturcolor - all shades
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 9/8/2008 6:21:00 PM

For the past few years, I've been going to a salon to get all over hair color. To save a little money, I decided to try coloring my hair myself, using Naturcolor. I'd helped a girlfriend color her hair using this brand before and had liked the results, and also liked that compared to other brands, it's quite gentle. I bought two shades and mixed them (Cola - 3N, a deep neutral brown and Clove Chestnut 4D, a golden brown). The results are as good, if not better than salon results! My hair is shiny and the color is just right. I've gotten numerous compliments on the color, even more than one month after coloring it. The price is quite reasonable - $16/box. I find the formula easy to apply and easy to clean up (I apply a little vaselline along my hairline beforehand). Naturcolor's customer service is also unbelievably great. I called the 1-800 number on a Sunday night. I wanted to color my hair, but had lost the instruction sheet. When someone picked up the phone, it sounded as though I'd reached a personal residence. It turns out to be Naturcolor's owner. She not only answered my questions, but also asked which colors I was using and gave me some tips and wished me the best. I was extremely impressed by her courteousness and care. I will definitely be repurchasing this and raving about it to friends!!

Lips -Ecco Bella - Long Lasting Lip Crayon
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 9/8/2008 1:38:00 AM

I just found this at TJ Maxx for $2.99 - a great deal since on the Ecco Bella website, they're priced at $10.95. I usually wear fairly light, natural lip colors, but decided to give the Cranberry a try (the only other one there was Crimson). Cranberry is a very wearable shade of blue red. It goes on smoothly, even on bare lips and becomes more wearable with a bit of gloss over the top to tone it down. I might just go back to TJ Maxx tomorrow and buy the Crimson!

Powder -Wet 'n' Wild - Ultimate Minerals Powder Foundation in Stage Light
rated 4 of 5
angelmae78 9/13/2007 6:44:00 PM

I just bought this, and am very happy with it. I love mineral makeup, but it really dries out my skin (particularly the area around my eyes). I bought this to use as a setting powder with Estee Lauder's new compact foundation, which I use more like a concealer, just in the areas I need it, and to keep the rest of my face from getting shiny. I love this mineral makeup so far - it feels silky and light, and does the job of setting the foundation and keeping down shine. I dust on a tiny amount of this with my kabuki brush. I find it needs minimal buffing, and has a very natural look.

Moisturizers -Kiss My Face - Peaches and Creme moisturizer with AHA
rated 4 of 5
angelmae78 8/20/2007 12:48:00 AM

I just bought the new formula of this lotion. First the cons - it's thicker and definitely more difficult to spread than the old version, and leaves a weird white film. The pros - the white film fades after just a couple of minutes (no need to waste time rubbing it in), and I find the smell softer and less intrusive than the old version. Two other pros - not tested on animals, and inexpensive. It's easy to make it more spreadable - just add a couple drops of jojoba oil before applying. Finally - the number one reason I will continue to buy this: when I use this on my legs after shaving with KMF shaving cream, I have the smoothest legs with absolutely no in-growns - even in the bikini area. This is a miracle for me - I have tried many different lotions, shave creams, and hair removal methods in an attempt to have smooth legs/bikini area without ingrowns. This is the only combination that works!!

Deodorants -Trader Joe's - Unscented Deodorant with Cotton
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 7/30/2007 6:57:00 PM

Wow - I looked up this product on MUA, thinking everyone else would be as in love with it as I am. I'm sorry to hear it hasn't worked well for the other reviewers. Here's my review - I picked this up at TJs because I've been wanting to switch to a more "natural" deodorant that isn't tested on animals. I find that it does a great job of keeping my underarms dry - just as well as regular old antiperspirant. It doesn't have added fragrance or much of a scent, and a teeny bit of BO odor comes through by the end of the day - but nothing that a timely reapplication can't help. I would prefer a scented version, but really, I have no complaint about this one. Edited to add that I found that if I pair this with a crystal deodorant to control odor, I get far better, all day protection against both odor and wetness. Yay!

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Q10 Sensitive Skin Anti-Wrinkle Fluid
rated 5 of 5
angelmae78 6/12/2007 2:05:00 PM

I love this moisturizer. I waited to write a review until I had used it for 3 weeks. I have sensitive skin, and am prone to eczema. I haven't had any problem with irritation, break outs, or eczema while using this - yay! It soaks in quickly, without leaving a whiteish cast, or shininess. Shine during the day is minimal to none (most sunscreens either completely irritate & break out my skin or leave my dry skin looking like an oil slick). Love that it has SPF 15 - makes sun protection easy & painless.
