Treatments (Eye) -Clinique - All About Eyes
rated 2 of 5

Like most eye products, this is quite packed with silicones, which helps eye make-up glide effortlessly. But due to the hot/humid weather here year-round, it slips off my face...together with the eye make-up. It made my eyes runny. It also doesn't help with moisture. It doesn't hydrate at all. Just feels velvety but still dry underneath. Dunno how much it costs, it was given as a gift.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - A Perfect World for Eyes
rated 3 of 5

Love the scent. Love the packaging. It doesn't seem to moisturize my eye area, though. Consistency is like that of Clinique All About Eyes, or other eye-cream/gel brands. Maybe it's the silicone. But it lacks H2O, the hydrating feeling on contact. Price is pretty steep, too.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 227 Large Fluff Brush
rated 3 of 5
angelbemine 8/24/2009 10:39:00 AM

Been searching for a fluffy brush to color my whole eyelid with a wash of dark brown (as for shadow). I have asian eyes (not hollowed), which lacks depth. I find that using a dark chocolate tone looks more natural rather than piling up beige/taupe shadow. In order to have a wash effect, I used to use a small blush brush that came free with an old compact. I went to the MAC counter & the SA suggested this. Although the size/fluffiness is okay, I feel that it's too dense (hair packed too tight) to have a washed effect. I need to practice a light hand in applying this. I haven't used it as a highlighter yet, as others here suggested. I need to wash out the dark brown first before trying it as a hightlighter for the cheekbones/temples.

Concealers -MAC - select cover-up

Been searching for somethng to sover undereye circles. Read that should use liquid concealer. My nonexistent fine lines was pronounced with this product. But it does hide the dark color under my eyes. Although when I got home, there it is again!

Lip Gloss -Stila - Passion Fruit Lipglaze
rated 3 of 5
angelbemine 8/24/2009 10:26:00 AM

I was surprised & delighted to find that Stila is finally here! The sought-after brand has eluded me for years! I once bought it in a trip to Thailand. The price here is like half of what is posted online in the US. I purchased this on impulse, falling in love with the scent & color when applied. But after 30min of application, only the shine remained. No trace of color was left. It even made my lips peel/flake! I wonder if their quality suffered due to the price slash? I just thought 'lucky me', the Stila owners decided to lower the price thinking that this is a 3rd world country. I'll test their other products soon.

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Light
rated 3 of 5
angelbemine 8/24/2009 10:20:00 AM

I used to use MAC Select Sheer in NC05. I find it's coverage beautiful, not thick enought to be mask-like/foundation-like, but not thin like a baby powder would apply (I used to use baby powder when I was younger). The Select Sheer would cover slight freckles but not look like I'm wearing anything on top of my skin. But alas! it turns to dark pinkish/orangish after an hour or so. The SA told me that this is due to the acid on my skin. I now have to switch to this Blot Powder. I like that it doesn't turn dark on me, even after hours of wear. It also regulates oil. As with the Select Sheer, I have to blot within an hour. The only drawback here is that it covers like a baby powder. Lacking of pigment & coverage. Guess I'll have to go on searching for the perfect face powder, as I don't use foundation. As for now...this will have to suffice.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Honey I Washed the Kids soap
rated 5 of 5
angelbemine 5/8/2009 4:46:00 AM

This scent wakes me up in the morning. Smells of gourmet sweets & baked goods! Even though I'm still sleepy & hate to go to work, I always look forward to a good sud with this. The only problem is that it melts rather quickly as compared to other soaps. You also can't use the top "honey" concentrate. It's too hard & scratches my skin! The soap part is soft & sudsy.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
rated 5 of 5
angelbemine 5/4/2009 11:59:00 AM

This is great! But if you live in Asia, I suggest getting the Gatsby brand one, which is I think the original & has larger-cut sheets & more sheets for less the price. It's truly a miracle product! Great for oily skin that breaks out due to sweat mixing with dirt. It's hygienic due to the fact that you don't touch your otherwise clean brush/puff on your oil & dirt-ladden face & cover all of it with more powder! Just touch this on oily skin & it becomes matte again! Freshens up make-up without adding another layer of make-up! I have these sheets an Asian brand, in basic, with sunscreen, for oil only, for oil & sweat (since the oil only doesn't absorb water). If you look at it closely you can see that this is paper thin rubber. Packaging is also disposable & made of paper, which can easily be ruined inside one's bag, so I transfer it to a plastic (same-size) case.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
angelbemine 5/4/2009 11:53:00 AM

Love the opaqueness of the color, more coverage than BE & more matte, which is great for my oily skin. But it still doesn't last in hot/humid climates. It also itches like hell whenever I sweat.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
angelbemine 5/4/2009 11:46:00 AM

I'm loving my Perfect Topping right now! Just barely touch the brush on the product & it picks up a lot! I gives you that neutral dewy glow when swiped across cheeks & under browbones. Each one is different & mine is pretty neutral. I asked the SA to give me their lightest swirl, avoiding the brown veins. Unfortunately, I think Mac International ships darker shades/swirls here thinking that the majority of our skintone is medium-deep. I'm fair with yellow undertone. I find a difference in the veinings whenever I search for photos online. Am I just paranoid or is MAC company THAT efficient? Update: July 10 '09 Am loving this product! Been using this everytime I put on my make-up. Can't live without it...as of now. Love the fact that I can use a darker shade on some parts of my face that needs receeding, & the lighter shade on parts of my face that needs highlighting. I do often remind myself to go easy with the application, because after a couple hours it tends to look like shine on my face, not dewy. Freshly-applied, it looks great!

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - 3 in 1 Powdered Sugar Cookie
rated 2 of 5

I was disappointed with this one..I was expecting a lot more sugary sweet scent, but all I get is 80% lemon, 20% sweet.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Chocolate Ice Cream 3-in-1
rated 5 of 5
angelbemine 5/4/2009 11:06:00 AM

If you're a chocoholic, this is absolutely the best! I've tried other chocolate-scented bath products but this has 70% cocoa fragrance! Sweetness is a bit low, but can definitely wake you up with the good dose of cocoa. Sad that they don't carry this anymore. It's kinda like Chocolate Chip Cookies but has richer cocoa than the sugar scent.

Makeup Brushes -Shu Uemura - 4 Piece Compact Brush Set
rated 4 of 5
angelbemine 5/4/2009 10:58:00 AM

I have this in the plain color black, but basically the same type/size of brushes. I just uploaded a LE Mika for Shu Red version. It's really really compact & portable. You can rely on the quality. I especially like the white big, fluffy goat-hair for all-over face color, but I use it as a blush. I love using big brushes for blush to disperse the pigment & avoid having spot application. I also like the soft feel of the blush brush with black goat hair. The hair is super-shiny. Although I seldom use the other two smaller brushes. Got this in my country for USD$73, which is pretty expensive, considering just how much it cost elsewhere.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 2 of 5
angelbemine 5/4/2009 10:40:00 AM

I have this in three versions : The original with peppermint, the one with honey & the lifeguard's choice (opaque with sunblock). I like the original one, the tingly feeling is great. But what I don't like with all three is the bumpy texture. Swiping them on my lips isn't smooth. I can also say that there gazillion other lipbalms that can moisturize a lot better! Out of the three, two of them won't swivel down again after swiveling up!

Highlighters -Guerlain - Meteorites Pearly White 04 Pastel White
rated 4 of 5
angelbemine 5/3/2009 11:03:00 AM

This is a LE, Asia exclusive shade. It's extremely pricey for the small amount of product that's inside the cardboard box. I just bought this a couple days ago so will have to try at different lights in order to give a good review. At the store I layered on 3-4 applications, with 5-10min intervals and noticed nothing! The SA told me it's noticable in daylight so I went outside, with my mirror in hand & still noticed nothing! Read rave reviews about this online so I guess I'll have to find out. I fair with yellow undertones & this pastel (not as multi-colored as Mythic) with more shimmer is a perfect match, according to the SA. Will post more soon! The SA said it usually lasts about 5yrs when worn everyday. It should, considering it costs USD$62 here & only has 33g of balls! Update on this: July 10 '09. This product does give a pinkish sheen on the skin when freshly applied. But given my oily skin, it seems to turn my complexion a bit dark after a couple of hours wearing it. Nowadays, I can do without it. Smell heavenly, though. Will never tire of the scent. Update on this Aug 24 '09 When I use the powder form (debris lying at the bottom due to raking the balls), which offer much concentrated application, I do see a huge difference. It makes your skin a pinkish glow, but ever so lightly. I just took one lippie coz it's so darn expensive! And an LE at that.
