My long hair has always been a point of pride for me so I was very disappointed when I went to the salon for a trim and ended up losing a lot more than split ends. My hair had been mid-way down my back, I own a set of 18 inch extensions and my hair was the same length as them when I went for a cut, the woman said she was cutting off an inch and I ended up leaving with hair that was only an inch past my arm pit. She had taken off at least 4-5 inches and I was although it is just hair and I knew it would grow back I was quite upset about it. I immediately went home and started researching ways to increase the speed of hair growth. I tried a number of home remedies and over the counter products such as biotin, hair and nail vitamins, applying castor oil to the roots and ends, crushing up pre-natal vitamins into my shampoo and mane and tail shampoo. None of these products seems to visibly increase my hair growth and then I heard about nisim FAST shampoo and conditioner. For reference I have used an entire bottle of both the shampoo and conditioner. I love this product. In one month my hair grew an inch and a half. The directions tell you to use this product daily but I suggest just using it in place of your current shampoo, it isn't necessary to use it every day if you don't normally wash your hair daily. I watched/read some reviews where people said this product made their hair feel dry or oily but I didn't have a problem with that at all. The shampoo and condition have a clean scent and left my hair looking clean and shiny and feeling quite soft. This shampoo is suitable for all hair types including color treated hair however, it does tend to strip the color quite substantially. I am currently waiting for my second bottle to arrive in the mail and I will continue to repurchase until my hair is at the desired length.
Loose Powders -Coastal Scents - Silica Spheres Powder
angel111 4/21/2009 2:49:00 PM
Some lovely ladies on the makeup board recommended that I try the silica powder from Coastal scents after I mentioned that I hated spending so much of the HD powder. So I ordered it online and was pleased to discover that it was exactly the same as the HD stuff that cost me 35 dollars, and I got more of the silica powder (tax and delivery included) for 8 dollars. This is my HG setting powder and I will definitly be repurchasing it when I run out. I recommend it to everyone!
I have to agree with alot of the other reviewers that said that the packaging sucks. But aside from that, this is my HG bronzer. I have tried so many bronzers (everything from high end to low end) and this is my favorite by far. It gives you a very pretty subtle bronzed look and it is perfect for people with pale skin. This bronzer is not at all orange or dirty looking. Plus it is extremly cheep. I am not sure how much it sells for regularly but I got mine on sale for 3 dollars at shopper's drugmart. I love this bronzer and I will definitly continue to buy this. I recommend it to anyone with pale skin.
My friend is new to makeup and is always going through my stash trying different looks so she can decide what she wants to buy. She tried my NARS blush in orgasm and loved it (as many people do) but she is a drugstore makeup shopper only, and refused to spend money on a blush that is $25.00. So she went out and bought Jane's blushing glow for 5 dollars. She then showed up at my apartment saying "do you like my blush?" I was shocked because I thought that she had bought a nars (which is very out of character for her) But then she showed me this little gem! We tested it and there is very little difference between my 25 dollar NARS and this 3 dollar Jane blush. (the color is slightly less pigmented-and alittle more bronzy than orgasm) but it is definily similar to orgasm and I recommend it to everyone! I have since gone and bought one for myself and I love it!
Bronzers -L'Oreal - HIP Vibrant Shimmering Bronzing Powder in Thriving
angel111 3/2/2009 8:03:00 PM
I was given this bronzer as a gift, and I originally thought it would be to dark for my NC20-25 skintone. But I was intreged by it because it is a deep brown color, not at all orange looking like some bronzers. The first time I tried this bronzer, I used a dense blush brush, and it looked horrible, it went on way to dark and made me look a little dirty. At first I thought that thriving was just not a bronzer that I could ever pull off with my light skintone, but a few days later I decided to try it with a quo bronzing brush (for reference- this brush is similar in shape to the MAC 187 but it is alot softer and alot less dense). I lightly touched the brush into the bronzer and taped off the excess and applied it (using the 3 method) and it looked great. I have used this bronzer almost everday since, and I have gotten alot of compliments on how tanned and glowy I look when I am wearing it.I will repurchase, but I definitly will not have to for a long time because I use so little each time. This bronzer comes in a circular compact with the bronzer on the top and a mirror and brush in the bottom compartment. I would suggest using a different brush to apply, and I think the key to this bronzer is using a light hand. I really like it!
My MAC 187 stippling brush was stolen and I was complaining about how I didnt have the money to buy a new one right away (end of the month and rent was due) But my boyfriend went out and bought me this (he is a sweetheart!) I absolutely loved that he would do something so sweet but when I first looked at the brush I thought that there was no way that it could replace my 187. It is bigger than the 187 and the bristles are alot softer. The brush itself seems less dense, so I thought that it wouldn't buff my foundation enough...man, was I wrong! I LOVE THIS BRUSH! I dip it in my foundation and stipple it over my face and then buff/blend it in and I absolutely love the finish that it gives me. I recommend this brush to everyone (they are approximately 20 dollars at shoppers drugmart but they often go on sale for 40% off) This brush can be used for everything from foundation to powder to blush and bronzer. I think that I am going to go pick up another one the next time that they are on sale.
My original thought when I looked at this lipglaze was that it would be too dark and brown looking for my skintone. But I was plesantly surprised. I love the way it makes my lips look. This is a lipglaze so it has color and shine. The color looks like a mix of plum and caramel with subtle gold sparkle and heavy glaze. It is beautiful! The only downside to this product is that it is a little sticky when you first apply it, but that isn't enough to deter me from repurchasing. I definitly recommend this to everyone!
I recieved this eyeshadow as a gift from a friend and I really like it. In the container it looks white but when you apply it you can clearly see sparkles of pink. Not only do I use this as an eyeshadow, but I also lightly dust it over my blush sometimes, which gives me a subtle but pretty glow. It stays well and applys nicely. (I apply it wet to avoid fall out) I would recomend this if you are looking for a white eyeshadow with pretty pink sparkles.
My hair is caught somewhere between straight and curly. It have a natural wave but I rarely go out with out styling it. Meaning I am either trying to straighten it or add some curls, so I am always looking for product that will help protect my hair from getting damaged. I saw the Sunsilk straighten up, shampoo and conditioner on sale for $1.99 each and I decided to give it a try (not really expecting to much) I have been using it (on the days I plan to straighten my hair) for about 3 weeks and I have to tell you, I love it! It is everything I want in a shampoo and conditioner. It smells great, it is thick so it really coats your hair, it washes out easily and leaves your hair really soft and smooth. And these products reduce my wave alot, so it makes straightening my hair a lot quicker. I will definitly repurchase and I highly recommend it.
Conditioner -Pantene - Brunette Expressions Conditioner
angel111 2/19/2009 6:33:00 PM
My sister gave me the Pantene brunette experssions shampoo and conditioner. I have naturally brown hair (I dont know if this product is intended for people with dyed brown hair or naturally brown or both) I really like the shampoo and conditioner. They smell great and leave my hair look great and feeling really soft. It is not HG for me but I will definitly repurchase (I like to switch up my hair routine, so I always have tons of different products)
I am not sure whether or not this shampoo is made for people with dyed brown hair or natural brown hair (or both). I have natural dark brown hair, and I must say that I didn't notice any difference in my color after using it. But I still like the shampoo and conditioner. When I use them both, my hair ends up looking great. It smells nice and feels really soft. I wouldn't say that this is an HG for me but I will definitly repurchase. (I like to switch up my shampoo and conditioners so I always have tons of different bottles in my shower)
Liquid -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers All Day Hydrating Makeup
angel111 2/18/2009 12:58:00 AM
I used this foundation for awhile when I first started wearing makeup, but quickly replaced it with high end foundations. I loved the foundation but never found the perfect shade for my skin. But aside from not having the right color for me, this foundation is great. It lasts all day, hydrates your skin. If you have dry skin this foundation actually improves it. I always keep a bottle of this on hand, and I often mix it with other foundations. It might seem like a weird thing to do but it really works for me. I am using MUFE HD foundation but I found that it was accentuating my dry spots, so I mixed alittle CG smoother in there and you couldn't see any dry spots at all. And after just a day of wearing the mixed foundation, my skin had improved so much that I dont notice any dry spots at all. I recommend this foundation for any ladies with dry skin. On its own or just to mix with foundations that you like but dry your skin.
Primer/ Corrector -Make Up For Ever - HD Microperfecting Primer
angel111 2/17/2009 11:47:00 PM
I bought the HD foundation, primer and powder and I love them all. When I went to Sephora the SA suggested that I used the neutral or green primer because I am quite pale. (Green reduces redness and neutral adds luminosity to complexions) I had decided on neutral and she gave me a sample and I loved it. I later ordered all of these items in full size over the internet. When it arrived I saw that I had gotten the green primer by mistake. Instead of returning it, I decided to give it a try and I love it too. I will definitly repurchase as it does everything that I would expect for a good primer. It makes me skin feel smooth, makes my foundation last longer and look more natural and it reduces any redness. I love this stuff, I definitly recommend it especially with the HD powder and foundation.
Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
angel111 2/17/2009 11:34:00 PM
After I kept hearing about make up for ever on the makeup board I decided to give it a try. I bought the HD foundation, primer and powder and I absolutely love each one. I have heard a few people say that this powder makes them look ashy, I did not have this problem, but I am quite pale (for reference 117 MUFE HD) The HD powder works great for me. It sets my foundation so that it stays on all day and it looks natural (doesn't look cakey or powdery) If this was the only product like this for sale I would repurchase, but I have since found silica powder that is the exact same but so much cheaper!
Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
angel111 2/17/2009 11:24:00 PM
After trying so many different kinds of foundation, I had almost given up until I heard all the buzz about this and decided to try it for myself. I bought it in 117 along with the hd powder and primer. I use all three together and the result is flawless looking natural skin. This foundation really does look invisible, while still providing full coverage. It also comes in a lot of different shades, so it should be easy for someone to find a shade that works for them. I personally found a perfect match for my skintone. And this foundation does not contain SPF, which I actually like (I am all for skin protection but I tend to stay away from foundations containing SPF when I know that there will be pictures taken because the flash causes me to look ghost like) To sum this review up, I LOVE THIS FOUNDATION!!!! And I will definitly repurchase *EDIT*- After wearing this for almost a month now, I realize that although I love the natural looking coverage, this foundation is not HG for me. It seems to be drying my skin and then accentuating the dryness. I will probably use this in the summer or on special events but it definitly isn't an everyday foundation for me
