Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear in Made for Mocha
anela07 5/15/2013 12:56:00 PM
I got this to replace the darkest colour in the Natural Smokes quad, which I use as a liner and for my brows. It's a bit lighter brown than the quad colour, but I like that better! It's great on my brows and to line my lower lashes - I will definitely buy it again when I need more, if it's still available.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon #252B Nutty
anela07 5/14/2013 1:36:00 PM
I just bought this while down in the U.S. for the weekend, after having read many great reviews online for Wet n' Wild's shadows. I am SO pleased with it! I normally use Maybelline Tastefully Taupe because of my cooler-toned skin, and found that Nutty is almost the exact same colour. For only $2, I wish I'd bought more! The quality is really surprising - creamier than Maybelline and pigmented, I have absolutely no complaints so far and I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap everyday neutral. The small package is a plus for me because it'll be easy to take traveling or to keep in a purse.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Panther

Finally bought this while down in the U.S. this weekend, after reading great reviews everywhere online. I am SO impressed!! When I first tried it, I couldn't believe how pigmented and smooth it applied. For the amount I will use this (occasion lining) the price is unbeatable and the quality is amazing. I hadn't tried any Wet n' Wild shadows before this, but now I think I'll try them all! Highly recommended.

Self Tanners -Jergens - Jergens Natural Glow Firming
anela07 5/14/2013 1:25:00 PM
I got a small tester sized (medium to tan) version of this product in the mail, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I mainly wanted to target my legs because they're always a bit more white than the rest of me, and shorts season is here! I have to say that I am very impressed. I applied it once and by the next morning saw that I had a healthier colour to my legs. After two applications, I thought I'd better stop before my legs got disproportionally dark compared to the rest of me. It dries quickly if you rub it in, there's no need to let it dry more than a few minutes before getting dressed. No orange colour like the last tanner I used 5+ years ago, and less of a nasty scent (although let's be honest, after an hour or so you still start to smell it). As for the firming aspect, I don't think any of us believe that it really works, but the colour does definitely help to camouflage cellulite imperfections. I found that it did come out streaky on my shins, but only because I didn't rub it in well enough. Be extra careful on areas where the skin is thinner, it seems to come out a bit streaky if you don't really rub it in. I will definitely go out and buy the full size! It will be a great product for maintaining and evening out my tan this summer.

Treatments -Moroccanoil - Morrocan Oil Treatment
anela07 12/9/2012 8:12:00 PM
I love this product - heard great reviews from friends/family so I've been using it for over a year now. It smells fantastic and leaves my hair super soft and shiny if I apply it to damp hair and air-dry. I sometimes apply it to dry hair before straightening, and I find that it really intensifies the look and feel of my hair - and it helps keep its shape (and avoid frizz) for days. Rather than repurchase (because of the price), I have been using Garnier's Sleek and Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment, and I find that it is a suitable alternative. I prefer the scent of Moroccanoil, but the results are very similar.

Treatments -Garnier - Sleek and Shine Moroccan Sleek Oil Treatment

I LOVE this stuff. I am a huge Moroccanoil fan, but was looking for something cheaper because I use it all the time to soften the dry ends of my hair. I considered a few other brands before settling on Garnier, because their products rarely let me down. This definitely exceeded my expectations! After I wash my hair I blow-dry it about halfway dry, then apply the oil everywhere except my roots. I let it air dry the rest of the way and it is super soft, very close to the results I get with Moroccanoil. I find the smell to be similar to Moroccanoil, but it fades quickly so if you don't like scents, not a big deal. I will definitely buy this product again! Especially if I apply before straightening, my hair is soft, shiny, no frizz, and it holds its shape for days! Rating a 5 because it exceeds my expectations for a drugstore product, I can't complain. Will definitely repurchase.

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel
anela07 12/9/2012 7:54:00 PM
I am a huge fan of almost every Garnier product I try - this being one of the only exceptions. I have had great success with mousses in the past, but I saw this on the Garnier website and it seemed to get good reviews so I gave it a shot. I have fairly fine 2B/C hair, and I find that this just weighs it down and makes it clump more than anything. It feels oily in my hands, and makes my hair feel (and look) greasy after it's applied. My hair looks and feels like it needs to be washed, no matter how much of the product I use. If you have hair like me, this is definitely not for you. I've had it for over a year now and nothing I ever try with it works - it's finally going in the garbage.

Lotions/ Creams -Garnier - Intensive 7 Days Conditioning Lotion
anela07 10/25/2012 8:26:00 PM
I originally got a sample of this in shea butter in the mail from Garnier - I hated it. I found that it sat on top of my skin for too long, making it feel greasy and I wasn't a big fan of the scent either. I had a coupon for a free bottle - so I figured I'd test out another of the scents, because my skin is not "extra dry" to begin with so perhaps shea butter just wasn't for me. I am SO glad I decided to try another one! I have it in honey, and I am completely in love with it. The scent is fantastic, and it's not too greasy like the shea butter was on my skin. I apply it once or twice a day, and even if I don't apply it at all the next day my skin still feels moisturized and soft. It has smoothed out my rough upper arm areas like no other body lotion ever has. I will stick with this product until they stop making it!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Lots of Lashes
anela07 5/30/2012 1:59:00 PM
I thought I'd try this in blackest black after seeing a mix of positive and negative reviews online. Honestly, I was impressed! The brush is AWESOME (not too big, not too small), and separates nicely. I like a more natural look to my lashes, so I apply it in 2 thin coats, one after the other, before it dries. If you don't apply too much at a time, the lashes don't clump at all! It makes even the smallest lashes (that I didn't even know I had) visible. Love it and would definitely buy again!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Single-Tastefully Taupe
anela07 5/25/2012 7:49:00 PM
I can't really put into words how happy I was to find this product! I originally bought it to replace the lid colour in my Natural Smokes quad when it ran out - but it's actually SO much better than the quad colour! I have a cool-tone skin and most taupes and natural colours look too warm/red on my skin, but this was surprisingly perfect - not too shimmery either, so I can wear it day or night. I use it over bare lids with some liner and mascara and the pigmentation is great. This is now my go-to lid colour - I honestly don't need anything else!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Stylish Smokes in Natural Smokes
anela07 5/25/2012 7:43:00 PM
I only really use neutrals on my eyes, and this is so far the best I've tried! I use the darkest shade as liner for my eyes and brows, and the shimmery taupe for my lids. I don't use the lightest shade or the crease shade as often, only when I'm going for a more dramatic look. I recently ran out of the lid colour, and instead of re-purchasing I bought the single-colour Chic Naturals 250S Tastefully Taupe. I actually like this much better, it doesn't have as much shimmer and the colour suits me better. I would purchase this quad again though, it's really handy for the darker colour and when traveling... but they changed the packaging and now you don't get an even amount of each colour, so I might be looking for something new.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails - Clear
anela07 5/25/2012 7:34:00 PM
I took this from my sister last year, and it was amazing! Recently though I ran out, and had to buy a new bottle. The packaging has changed, and I think that the formula has changed too - before it was nice and thick, now it seems to be thinner and doesn't dry as fast. Still has a nice gloss to it though, and I just apply 2 coats instead of 1. I use it exclusively as a top coat on my fingers and toes, and it makes my toenail polish last for over a month without chipping! I only need to redo my toes when my nails grow out too much and it becomes unsightly. On my fingers, I normally use it as a top coat to a french manicure, using Sally Hansen "Get Strong" Nail Strengthener as a base coat. It is too glossy and thick for me to use as a base coat, but it works well for a top coat. My only complaint is that it takes forever to dry, so make sure you let your base and colour coats dry completely before applying this! It's not so obvious over a french manicure, but over colour the smudges are more noticeable. I find that my nails last for 4-5 days without chipping, using it as a top coat. Also worthy of note, as some reviews claim that it contains formaldehyde - the new bottle I bought clearly states "formaldehyde free" on the packaging.

Fragrances -GAP Beauty - Dream
anela07 11/9/2011 4:22:00 PM
I love this scent! I have been using it for maybe 10 years... but I can't find it in Canada anymore! Every time I go to the U.S. I stock up. I still get many comments and men seem to love it because it's not overwhelming. It doesn't last the longest, but that's ok because I get sensitive to strong scents after a while. I'll probably be buying this for life!!

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip glaze
anela07 9/25/2011 8:21:00 PM
I bought the Stila Lip Glaze Trio today after being inspired by so many YouTube reviews that have nothing bad to say about them. I usually don't wear lip gloss or lip colour of any kind, so this was sort of my first foray into glosses in a long time. I find that with my skin tone it's hard to find colours that look good on my lips, so I was looking for something sheer and not too vibrant. I bought the "cool" trio that comes with Grapefruit, Seashell, and Raisin. I have to say, I LOVE the colour of them all! Seashell is the best for daytime use, but Grapefruit isn't bad either (I thought I'd hate it because of the light pink colour, but it's actually not bad at all). For those who say they aren't sticky, I disagree. The gloss definitely sits heavy on the lips and seems very sticky, but because of this it is long-lasting and doesn't come off easily (even when trying to wipe it off, I find). That said, I find that if I put on lip balm and then the gloss over top, it's not so bad. I am not a huge fan of the flavours. I'm 25, not 5... the Watermelon specifically is kind of gross, but I don't mind the Seashell at all. All in all, they're a little expensive, but I was surprised that I liked the colours so much, so I'd consider buying them again if I can't find a cheaper alternative that I like as much. The packaging also leaves a lot to be desired, it's easy to waste product with the twist system and I was surprised with how little comes in the tube to begin with. Just a note (for Canadians), Sephora seems to be chronically sold out of the trios, but they have both the warm and cool sets at Urban Outfitters! I was surprised. And they're $2 cheaper than at Sephora.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color
anela07 5/12/2011 2:51:00 PM
The first temporary dye I used on my hair was Garnier Herbashine (in #400 dark brown), and although I loved the result I thought I would try L'Oreal Paris' Healthy Look Creme Gloss in Darkest Brown (3). I find that in comparison, this dye dried out my hair and definitely did not give it any shine - it looked flat compared to my Herbashine results and my natural highlights didn't show through. The colour seemed to wash out really fast in comparison, and my hair was almost back to normal after a week and a half. Although this dye doesn't seem to have the mild reddish undertones like Herbashine's dark brown (which I at first thought was a good thing) I soon realized that the trade-off is that the L'Oreal colour gives my hair absolutely no dimensionality or shine. My hair is naturally fine and soft, and this dye definitely didn't keep it soft like Herbashine did. Another thing I didn't like was the conditioner - I found the smell offensive in comparison to Herbashine's conditioner, so much so that I threw it out after two applications. I don't think that the royal jelly does anything at all, as Herbashine's made my hair much softer. I definitely recommend Herbashine over the L'Oreal Healthy Look Creme Gloss and will not be buying this product again.
