Moisturizers -Equate - Ultra-Gentle Facial Moisturizer (Oil Free)
andieheartsmakeup 6/18/2013 11:28:00 PM
I'm glad Equate updated their bottle, and now it's much more pleasing to look at :-) This is identical in every respect to the Neutrogena Oil Free Moisture for sensitive skin. Fantastic for people who break out easily from moisturizers, and also fantastic for those with oilier skin, because it really absorbs well. For being a generic, it's not all that cheap :-/ Dollar General makes their own knockoff of the Neutrogena moisturizer, and it's also identical in it's ingredient list and performance, but only costs $3, so next time I will probably repurchase that one.

Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Studio Makeup Mist & Set Spray
andieheartsmakeup 6/18/2013 9:43:00 AM
I am on my 3rd bottle of this! I do feel it helps set makeup but it also works great for refreshing makeup throughout the day, especially if you have an oily t-zone. I never noticed any scent to this, and while it may feel damp at first, it dries nicely. I take an elf flat top brush and press it into my tzone to help it set faster. Love it!

Primer/ Corrector -Palladio - Herbal Liquid Foundation Primer
andieheartsmakeup 6/18/2013 9:34:00 AM
I have a very oily t-zone and I love this primer! I just use a small pea sized amount and spread it all over concentrating on my t-zone especially. It is silky smooth, minimizes pores and shine, and keeps my makeup looking fresh all day. Well worth the price considering how little you need on a daily basis. Will repurchase!

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Heather Silk
andieheartsmakeup 6/17/2013 1:41:00 PM
Love it! This will give you a true cool pink flush of color. For some reason, so many blushes that appear cool toned, end up looking peachy on my skin, but this one actually mimics the rosiness my cheeks naturally have. This has plenty of pigment, so I can use this when I'm pale (applied lightly), or when I have my deepest of tans. The brush that comes with it actually isn't that bad (I have used it), and I like that it's and angled brush. What makes this HG status for me though, is that it's matte, since shimmery blushes don't look as natural (IMO). I don't wear blush that often, since I mostly just use bronzer, but when I do, this is the one I reach for, and I would repurchase it if I ever run out!

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
andieheartsmakeup 6/17/2013 1:36:00 PM
This review is for the original duo called St. Lucia. I mainly buy this for the bronzer side, because I love the tone and depth of the color. I also like the fact it does not apply shimmery, because I have oily skin and therefor hate shimmery bronzers. The formula applies smoothly, and lasts all day, and doesn't break me out. I can use this when I'm pale (with a light hand), but it also works fantastically even when I'm at my tannest, because it's nicely pigmented. The blush side is nice if I ever feel like wearing a shimmery peachy shade, but even if I never used it, $3 for a fantastic bronzer in really sturdy, nice packaging, is well worth the cost!

Loose Powders -New York Color - loose translucent powder
andieheartsmakeup 6/17/2013 1:29:00 PM
This is dirt cheap, set's makeup without making it cakey, and helps control t-zone shine. I use this when I'm pale in winter, or tan in summer, and it goes on pretty much invisibly. I think it adds a lovely soft focus, airbrushed look, and helps minimize pores. I would strongly advise not to remove the entire sticker that covers the holes, but only allow a few to remain open. Or you could use a needle and punch through just a few, but if you uncover all of them, the powder is so finely milled, it will all spill out and you will have one messy container of powder! This is the only powder I use to set my makeup, and I would repurchase if I ever run out (you get a LOT of product!).

Eyeliner -Prestige - Liquid Eyeliner
andieheartsmakeup 6/17/2013 1:24:00 PM

I got this on sale for like $1.50 in the shade Black Brown, and it's shockingly good for the price I paid! It's a nice deep brown, just as the name states, and it applies smoothly and rich in pigment. I like felt tip liquid liners, and this one is easy to use. It holds up all day on my upper lash line, and I have oily eyelids. I wish I could have gotten Black, but they were sold out, but if I find it in stock, I will purchase Black as well!

Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer
andieheartsmakeup 6/17/2013 1:13:00 PM
This concealer is awesome! The packaging makes this so easy to apply, you can just dot it over blemishes and blend with your fingertips. I expected the formula to be waxy and hard to blend like regular lipstick style concealers, but I was surprised to find it's actually quite creamy and blendable. This has amazing opaque coverage, and lasts all day, although I always set concealer with a loose powder (NYC Translucent). I am using Warm 1-2-3, and it's a fantastic light yellow based shade that neutralizes redness well. The convenience of application alone makes this my new top favorite concealer!

Scrubs -Clean & Clear - Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub - Oil-Free
andieheartsmakeup 6/17/2013 1:06:00 PM
Love it! I use it daily, since the scrubbies are not overly harsh. I like that this removes all makeup, gently exfoliates, and makes skin feel icy cool due to the menthol. I use this as my exfoliant/makeup remover/cleanser, all in one. If you hate menthol or are sensitive to it, then definitely skip this product, but menthol doesn't irritate my skin, and I enjoy the cooling effect, especially in summer! This cleans really well, and gets rid of the oil and junk from my t-zone without overly drying the rest of my face. The scent is fresh and really helps wake me up in the mornings. It's hard to find a scrub that doesn't have Salicylic Acid in it, and I appreciate that this doesn't contain SA, but it still does seem to help against breakouts. Would repurchase!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers Trio - Cafe au Lait #105
andieheartsmakeup 6/16/2013 1:52:00 PM
This has replaced the highly popular "Shimmering Sands" trio as my everyday neutral palette! I try to keep my makeup as natural looking as possible, so I am always on the lookout for pretty brown palettes. I like that the darker brown in this trio is more on the cool side, because warm browns just clash with my skintone. The deepest shade also does not go on nearly as dark as you might expect, so I use it as an all over lid color, and alternate between the 2 lighter shades as my brow bone highlight shade. Mostly I use the mid and deep shades together, so this as a duo would be even better! This has just enough frost to be pretty, without being ultra shiny or over the top shimmery. It's a nice, error proof trio for those who prefer neutral shadows. Would repurchase!

Concealers -Revlon - Colorstay Concealer
andieheartsmakeup 6/16/2013 1:44:00 PM
This is better than the previous CS concealer for blemishes, which was a little too sheer and runny. I would actually consider this a dupe for Estee Lauder's DoubeWear concealer, as I own both, and honestly can't tell a difference. This is creamy enough to be workable, and has opaque enough coverage to cover blemishes, which I currently have a few of :-/ I am using the shade "Light" which is a fantastic light, yellow based shade that neutralizes redness well. I notice that Salicylic Acid is still listed in the ingredients, although Revlon doesn't state the amount, but generally speaking, SA should not be used around the eyes, so I'm not sure I can recommend this as an under-eye concealer. This sets to a nice matte finish, and doesn't budge throughout the day, so it lives up to it's name. Would repurchase!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
andieheartsmakeup 6/16/2013 10:28:00 AM
If you have oily skin, run to your nearest drugstore and buy this! I have always had an extremely oily t-zone, having to blot and powder every hour during warmer months, which is so frustrating. With CS, I only get a little shine every 4 hrs, which is fantastic for me! I have tried almost every single drugstore foundation, and high end ones like Mac SFF, Lancome Teint Idole, EL Doublewear, and none come even close to banishing oil like Colorstay does! I am currently using the newer 24hr formula for Oily skin, but I have used the version for Normal/Dry skin and it controls my oily skin just as well. I actually prefer the updated "24hr" formula for Oily skin, because the previous formula actually didn't help control my oil at all and it oxidized badly. I am around an NC 25 at the moment, and Nude 200 is a great color match. I prefer light, natural looking coverage, so I apply using a damp sponge, or e.l.f stippling brush and I get an incredible skinlike finish with no shine! Holds up all day, minimal oil breakthrough, and doesnt break me out at all. This IS the best foundation on the market, and I won't stray from it!

Cleansers -Olay - Age Defying Daily Renewal Cleanser
andieheartsmakeup 6/14/2013 11:51:00 PM
This cleanser has it all!!! It removes all my makeup (and I wear Revlon CS foundation), has BHA, gentle exfoliating beads, a fantastic scent, and leaves my combo/oily skin balanced. It also comes in a convenient pump bottle. I didn't think a cleanser like this existed, meaning a cleanser that leaves behind just enough moisture that I can skip moisturizer, but is strong enough to remove makeup with simple rinsing (no washcloth needed here). I love that it doesn't leave my face greasy or shiny, yet not the slightest bit stripped or dehydrated either. At night, I always do a double cleanse if I'm wearing foundation, but I recommend doing that with any cleanser, not just this one. I am really picky about scents in my cleansers, and I love the way this smells, it reminds me of a classic perfume I just can't place at the moment, which is light and floral, without being cloying and obnoxious. This is sold almost everywhere, and you can usually get the store brand knockoff's for even cheaper (I like Dollar General's brand "Daily Renewal Cleanser"). Will repurchase!

Bronzers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Bronzer
andieheartsmakeup 6/12/2013 1:12:00 PM
Really great bronzer if you hate shimmer in your bronzers. I think this is one that all skintones can use, because it has the perfect balance of cool and warm tones, and the perfect amount of pigment, that you can apply lightly, or build up for a deeper tan. I use this daily as my bronzer and blush, to give my face a natural tan glow. The packaging is really nice, and the brush that comes with it actually isn't that bad. This applies so smoothly, and blends so easily, it's almost error proof. The only con, is that like all Neutrogena products, it is kind of expensive (for a drugstore cosmetic). However, I picked this up during a BOGO along with the Healthy Skin Blends Oil Control powder, so it hurt my wallet a bit less ;-) Would definitely repurchase, and bronzers are one thing I am SUPER picky about!

Hair Styling Tools -Revlon - Perfect Heat Ceramic Flat Iron 1 1/2 inch
andieheartsmakeup 6/9/2013 5:19:00 PM
So for the past year I have used my expensive CHI flat iron, thinking it was worth the pricetag. Then I decided I wanted a slighter larger plated one, and took a chance on this Revlon 1.5 inch iron, since it was under $20, I figured I didn't have much to lose. Well...it works better than the CHI!!!! It has 30 heat settings, heats up fast, and retains heat. I use the highest setting, because I have SUPER thick, naturally wavy hair (think mixed chick hair), and this baby gets nice and hot, and gives me a sleek, pin straight look, better than I ever got with my CHI (or any other brand). My hair actually feels softer and looks shinier with this flat iron. I am amazed, and would definitely repurchase another one just like it, when it comes time to replace it.
