Moisturizers -Eucerin - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme
rated 5 of 5
anabolina 3/28/2013 12:13:00 AM

Like many other mua-ers, this is HG for me. I've been using it for 3 months and finished my second container 4 days ago. This moisturizes without breaking me out or making my skin oily. My skin just drinks it up. I've got rosacea and acne and my skin is more even while applying this. It doesn't do anything for my large pores, but it doesn't say it will and I don't expect it to help with that. My skin is really dry and since I've been using a different night cream for a few days(since the eucerin ran out), my skin's gotten noticably drier and more irritated and I've got a couple of dry patches showing back up.I have to apply three different moisturizers to get the same effecct as this. I'm definitely picking up some more at Ulta tomorrow. This is my mainn problem with this, I didn't see it at Walmart or CVS so I'm going to have to go to Ulta to get it. Eucerin should be sold at more places!

BB Cream -Rimmel - BB Cream Beauty Balm 9 in 1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup
rated 5 of 5
anabolina 1/10/2013 10:06:00 PM

I really like this bb cream, although it isn't as good as the asian bb creams I've tried. It has good coverage, blends well, and lasts all day. My skin is dry with an oily t-zone. Unlike most current US bb creams,h this one has decent coverage. I'd compare it to the Revlon Active Colorstay foundation in terms of coverage, although this one makes my skin look better and seems more moisturizing. They last for similar amounts of time(aka all day on me). I still use concealer afterward, but it definitely makes my acne scars and undereye darkness less noticeable. I actually wore it without concealer the other day(more because I woke up with 10 minutes to get out the door lol). So it doesn't break me out(nor does it seem to improve my skin much although my pores do look smaller both while wearing this and afterward). I do wonder about whether or not the color selection will work for a lot of people since it does have some coverage. My skin is currently NW25-30 and I bought the light and it's perfect. If I had a complaint, it would be that it's a little pink. It's cheap, long-lasting, and has some coverage without being mask-like. I'll definitely buy it again.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverCreme Intense Nourishing
rated 5 of 5
anabolina 12/17/2012 4:44:00 PM

I've been using this shampoo with the the matching conditioner for a couple of weeks. So far I'm really impressed. My hair is really damaged and naturally dry so it frizzes out a lot. I've had nothing but good hair days since starting to use this shampoo. My hair is shiny and smooth but its still not weighed down. My hair is naturally wavy and this makes the waves more defined but still smooth. It's hard to describe, but it's my hair but better :) My hair even feels a lot healthier. The only other product that works this well is this $30 Aveda conditioner I bought last time I was in the salon. This works just as well for a whole lot less. I marked down the packaging quality since the top leaks when stood up just leave it on it's side and it hasn't leaked since.

Accoridng to Sally's, the product is supposed to be: •Protection and moisture for all types of color-treated hair •Lightweight formula •Paraben Free Ion Color Defense Leave-in Protector detangles and balances moisture without weighing hair down. Helps maintain hair color by protecting from heat styling and environmental damage. Leaves hair soft, shiny and manageable. Ingredients: WATER ,PANTHENOL ,DIMETHICONE PEG-7 PHOSPHATE ,FRAGRANCE ,DIMETHICONE ,POLYQUATERNIUM-11 ,DMDM HYDANTOIN ,HONEY ,TETRASODIUM EDTA ,TALLOWTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE ,C11-15 PARETH-9 ,PRUNUS ARMENIACA (APRICOT) FRUIT EXTRACT ,HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) EXTRACT ,IODOPROPYNYL BUTYLCARBAMATE ,PROPYLENE GLYCOL ,TOCOPHERYL ACETATE ,ASCORBIC ACID ,YELLOW 6 ,RED 4 I like that it makes my hair must smoother looking whenever I use it. I can definitely tell the diference between when I use it and when I do not. As a tribute to its effectiveness, the bottle is almost used up. I rarely finish products so this is a good thing :-) I don't know for sure that it helps color stay in the hair shaft any longer than normal, but my hair seems to hold onto color longer when using this. Although this could be an effect of using more hair masks as well.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Natysal Rosehip Natural Cream
rated 4 of 5
anabolina 1/5/2012 8:49:00 PM

I first picked this cream up from Marshalls back in April or May for somewhere between 5 and 7 dollars. I used it intermitently over the summer and liked it enough to buy 2 more tubes from Marshalls when I ran out in November. I've already finished one of the tubes since my skin has been really dry and flaky this winter. The rose scent of the lotion is very light and it's smooth, buttery yellow color. It's consisteny is very cream and it takes a little while to sink into my skin, but it doesn't cause me any breakouts and it keeps my skin pretty moisturized. Accoring to its creator, the cream is: Ultra Moisturizing Regenerates and Nourishes Paranen-free No synthetic perfumes No mineral oils, ethanolamine-free It comes in an opaque squeeze tube, so its pretty sanitary. I don't know that I would pay more than $10-$15 for it, but for less thatn $7, it's a steal.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - CVS Age Refine Day Cream
rated 3 of 5
anabolina 1/5/2012 8:30:00 PM

This is supposed to be a knockoff of L'oreal Age Perfect . Here is the description from the CVS website: ================================================== Improves & helps prevent the appearance of sagging skin, wrinkles & age spots. With marine collagen. Increases skin's overall resilience & elasticity to improve the appearance of sagging skin & wrinkles. Helps restore firm look to mature skin by fortifying lipid barrier. Marine collagen amino acids & ceramide technologies help improve skin's hydration and elasticity. Skin brightening ingredient helps minimize the appearance of age spots. Helps to improve uneven skin tones. As we age, our skin's underlying support begins to weaken from sun damage and hormonal changes. This can cause sagging, wrinkles, more prominent age spots and loss of moisture. CVS/Pharmacy Age Refine Day Cream with SPF 15 helps fight these changes in mature skin by minimizing signs of damage already done and defending your skin from new damage. Breakthrough technology. We've combined a revolutionary plant-based stem cell skin technology with the most advanced anti-aging ingredients. SPF 15 sun protection. Hypoallergenic. Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist tested. Paraben free. SPF 15 provides moderate sunburn protection. ==================================================== Pros: Sinks into my skin as soon as its put on. It's moisturizing enough that my skin is not tight and dry 5 minutes later. My skin is soft of schizo. I have acne and lines, dry skin and oily skin. le sigh. Cons: Makes my eyes sting. This is unusual since my eyes aren't particularly sensitive. I would try to avoid getting it close to my eyes, but even a little made my eyes itch. This is the first facial moisturier I've had this reaction to. It didn't really seem to improve the condition of my skin, but didn't make it worse. My rosacea was just as red afterward so it did nothing to help with it, but then this product isn't meant to be used to help with rosacea. This was okay, but not really worth the undiscounted price of $13.99 nor will it repurchase it.

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Redness Relief Perfecting Lotion with spf 15
rated 3 of 5
anabolina 10/19/2011 10:37:00 PM

This product was HG for me a few years ago when I used the version without the green coloring, but when I tried to go back to using it a few weeks ago, I found myself really disliking the product. My skin has been a bi dry and irritated lately and this stuff doesn't help. My skin buns and gets redder when I apply it :( It also feels tight within 10 minutes, so it isn't moisturizing enough either.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 4 of 5
anabolina 3/19/2011 9:55:00 AM

I've only been using this for about a week now and only picked it up because Walgreens had a 40% off sale and I had a dollar off coupon :-), but I certainly don't regret it. I may not have chosen the best color for me (003 Shell), it's a little light and tellow for me, but it does make my face match my neck better( my face is certainly pinker then the rest of me). The makeup came with an actually decent foundation brush. I used it to apply the makeup and it really blended it. I don't know about an airbrushed finish, but my skin does look more smooth. This is good since my skin's been feeling dry lately and I have some flakiness that this foundation doesn't make worse or highlight. I've post a pic of the product on my skin to show how it looks. Also, It took some time, but if I get really close to the mirror(about a inch or so away) I can see the glitter, but its really subtle and I'm not sure if I would have noticed it if not foor makeupalley. The foundation doesn't make either my rosacea or acne worse either.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Frutique Hydrating Peach Smoothing Creme
rated 3 of 5
anabolina 3/9/2011 5:00:00 PM

I really want to love this product because is smells so good, but it's really a bit mediocre. It's is reasonably priced though. With the $3 off coupon, it was $10 for 4.2 oz of product. It didn't break me out and lasted nearly 6 weeks. I'm not particularly fond of the tub, but it works because the product is thick. My skin still get s a bit dry a couple hours after using this though and my skin is only moderately dry, so if you have really dry skin, you may want to give this a pass. Still, I'm looking forward to trying the other moisturizers from the brand. This product was nice, but not for me.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Fahrenheit Heat Wave Ceramic Flat Iron
rated 1 of 5
anabolina 12/27/2010 10:28:00 AM

I picked this up at Marshalls to replace my sadly dying GVP version of the Chi which while generic, still cost $50. I liked the fuchsia color and the feel of it and the nice box so I bought it yesterday and tried it after my shower this morning. This is my least favorite flat iron ever. I hate it, it works like crap on my hair. Aka make my hair a little straighter, but doesn’t make my hair more smooth or shiny. I have dry, often colored hair that is naturally really wavy and frizzy. This is not a one pass iron for my hair, not even with the temp at its highest 450 degrees. After a few passes, my hair would be straight, but SUPER frizzy.  I guess it could be worse, I could have bought it here from folica and paid $55 and have more of a hassle returning it. I picked it up from Marshalls for $30 and am going to try to take it back today. I have tried many different flat irons, including some really cheap ones from Walmart and Dollar General and this is the only one I’ve ever bothered returning. I mean not only does it not make my hair shiny or soft, or silky, it also pulled at my hair. After a few passes, there were a few strands caught by the plates. I’m just really disappointed after reading the reviews here and finding out it such an ineffective flat iron. If you want a sub-$30 iron,I still love my Jilbere de Paris Ceramix Extreme from Sallys. It gets my hair smooth and shiny and straight. The only reason I keep it as a back up is that it sometimes pulls my hair and the heat isn’t the most even. Sometimes I get heat spots. The GVP was really good, but died after less than 7 months of 1-2 times a week usage. So I’m still on the lookout for that awesome and inexpensive flat iron. The search continues. ETA: So my hair looks so bad that when I went home for lunch, I ironed it with the Jilbere (I live less than 5 minutes from work so was at home anyway, but I usually don't do more than redo lipstick after lunch and maybe power if the shine is coming through). The more I think of this iron, the more I dislike it. I'm rapidly going from mild dislike to real hatred. Seriously don't buy it. You have been warned.

Treatments -Wella - In-Depth Reconstructor [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
anabolina 8/31/2010 11:19:00 PM

I really love this product for a very specific purpose. I only use it after a chemical treatment since it doesn't seem to work as well as a weekly treatment for me. Using it after a dyeing or bleaching my hair makes my hair super-smooth and soft while using this after just a shampoo doesn't really do much of anything. It's weird, but the feeling of this right after you bleach is awesome. It's such a change from the rough feeling of hair after its been dyed. I do wish it came in a tube rather than a tub since you have to reach in and grab a glob out rather than squirting and its not so thick that squirting would be difficult. I hope they don't dc this since it really is the best post-chemical treatment conditioner that I have.

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Flash The Max
rated 4 of 5
anabolina 8/17/2010 2:26:00 PM

Maybe this is a love it or leave it sort of mascara. I've only had it a few days and will update my review if my appreciation for it changes, but I like it. It's not perfection, but it's better than a lot of other mascara's I've tried. Pros: Volumizes Black 001 is a good depth of black No flaking or smudging (very good for me since that' my main complaint with most mascaras) Dries quick Cons: Can be a bit clumpy if you aren't careful I got this since the brush picture made it look really similar to the Full and Soft Brush and they do seem similar to me, but the formulas are definitely different for the 2. The Rimmel is thicker and it should be since its a volumizing mascara. Now I should mention that what I look for in a mascara may be different from you. My lashes are blonde and sparse so I'm pretty happy with any mascara that's dark and makes it look like I have lashes(which is most) so long as its not too clumpy and doesn't flake and that's what defines a good mascara for me. This had a little clumping, but nothing a brush through didn't take care of and it doesn't flake and that's awesome too. I don't know if I will re-purchase since it still couldn't beat Lash Blast, but I'll defintiely finish the tube.

Hair -Unlisted Brand - Coconut Oil
rated 4 of 5
anabolina 7/27/2010 12:30:00 AM

Wow, this stuff is really great. I did a color correction on my hair last week followed by Ion 12A with 40 Peroxide and my hair was fairly damaged. I've been trying to control the damage and used grapeseed oil last week and colonut oil last week. I bought mine for $7 at Walmart and the container is huge. I've kept it beside the over for the past 6 months since I got it and so it stays in a partially liquid state. Coconut oil becomes a liquid at 76 degrees. I poured some into a bowl and nuked it for 30 seconds and swirled it around afterward and tested it with my finger. It was the perfect temp, slightly hot but not too hot. Since I needed to clean my kitchen anyway, I applied it at the kitchen sink to dry hair and wraped my hair with a plastic grocery bag. After last week and this week, I'm actually running out of bags, lol. I left it on for more than 2 hours and washed it out with Beyond the Zone Mouisturizing shampoo. The thing is that I only washed it once and toweled it try and went to sleep. Today my hair was awesome, but weighed down. It's weird it was weighed down but also had more movement if that made sense. I washed my hair again tonight with the moisturizeing shampoo and that is rare for me. I wash my hair 3 times a week so its usually every other day, but while my hair was fine for one day, it would be too oily the second day. Note that my hair is not normally oily. I can easily go 4 or more days without washing it if it didn't skeeve me out a bit. If your hair is more prone to oiliness, you'd be better served to shampoo it more to remove the coconut oil.My hair is so soft today and ridiculously shiny. It's definitely in better condition than before I color corrected it. I also liked the grapeseed oil and that wasn't azs intense and would probably be better for a more oily haired person since it washed out with one shampoo without weighing my hair down. I've also used coconut oil as a facial cleanser and it didn't break me out.

Blush -Revlon - Powder Blush - Sandalwood Beige
rated 5 of 5
anabolina 7/26/2010 11:57:00 PM

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet, seriously. I got this from a freind on whom it didn't work since her skin tone is on the darker side of medium and it just didn't show up on her skin. I love it both during the winter and during the summer. Right now my skin is NW30/Colorstay 240 Medium Beige and during the winter its NW20 and and I can't remember the colorstay color. It is more suble right now than when my skin is lighter. I'm really bad at describing colors, but on my its a pinki-brown color. This stuff gives me cheekbones, lol. It's great for contouring and creating that under-cheekbones look if you know what I mean. I think I posted a pic of my wearing it last year and another pic today from my makeup this morning. I can't describe how awesome this color is on my. My first, my-cheeks-but-better color. It's very natural and has just the right amount of shimmer without being glittery. I love how this photographs when it amost looks like I have cheekbones, lol. As to its duration, it seems to last all day over colorstay foundation. As too how long the container lasts I suppose it depends on how much you use. If you have darker skin, it will take more product to see it on your skin. My has lasted over a year, but its not a daily color since I'm fickle and have so many different blushes and rarely wear the same one 2 days in a row. This is in heavy enough rotation that its at the front of my blushes and I use it at least twice a week. Not only has this lasted a year, but there is plenty left. I could see it lasting another year, lol. Also it doen't break out my acne-prone skin. Always nice. I hope they never dc this color because I truly would be so sad.
