Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Beverly Hills

I'm surprised that no one else has complained about the packaging with this Tint Stick. Lovely color, but the top comes off in my purse and that lovely color is smeared everywhere. Shame on Nars for making such a lousy package and charging $58 a pop!

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Turks and Caicos
amybean 7/2/2010 4:37:00 PM
To start, I have been searching for a replacement for my HG tint stick, the long-lasting Too Faced Blush Bouquet, which was tragically discontinued several years ago. I was THRILLED when Nars came out with these multiple tint sticks. I couldn't find them in the stores, so I went on the website and ordered all three shades as soon as they came out. They are just ok. When you first put them on, they impart a really lovely glow. Lousy staying power, though-- they don't last more than an hour or two, and you have to re-apply at the risk of turning matte hot pink (or bright orange). Other problem-- egad, the packaging! The moment you put these into your purse, the crappy matte finish starts peeling off the package, making the poor tint stick look like it's got a peeling sunburn. And then, the top doesn't close properly so it inevitably opens up in your purse and smears on your wallet. Extremely annoying. Despite these problems, I am still determined to make these lovely shades work for my daily routine. I suppose it's because I spent so much money on them.

Moisturizers -Korres - Wild Rose 24-Hour Cream
amybean 7/2/2010 4:31:00 PM
I've been using this product for a few weeks, and so far it's nothing special. Oil of Olay works just as well for a whole lot cheaper. I thought that using a more expensive product would magically transform my skin, but alas, I was wrong.

Hair -Phyto - Phytophanere Hair/Nails supplement
amybean 10/2/2008 3:00:00 PM
I just started taking these pills to grow my hair longer for my wedding next summer. I don't know how well they work yet. But just to let people know, buying the ingredients separately at a nutrition store is NOT cheaper than buying these pills! I figured I could save a few dollars by concocting my own brew of oils and yeast, but alas! At GNC prices it was just as costly as buying Phytophanere. Might as well get the Phyto pills, it's certainly easier to take them than it is to concoct a costly blend of grease and powder each morning...

Lipstick -Laura Geller - Lip Stay in Raspberry
amybean 5/10/2008 11:11:00 AM
This product does not stay on my lips. It comes right off when I eat, and even if I haven't eaten, it fades over a few hours. It is pretty much the same thing as regular lipstick! Why bother? I returned it straight to Sephora.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Overtime Sheer- Sheer Pomegranate
amybean 5/10/2008 11:06:00 AM
Usually long-lasting lip colors are way too dark for my lips (I am pale with red hair). But I love the sheerness of the Revlon line, and I love that it really stains my lips. Stays on forever. Fantastic! The only problem is that it doesn't smell great. The smell is a bit like chemicals, not at all as nice as Maybelline's Color Stay gloss.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Superstay Gloss
amybean 3/13/2008 6:10:00 PM
I own this is two shades-- Citrus Glow and Berry Blush. I use it on my lips AND my cheeks-- it makes a nice, long-lasting blush that perfectly matches my lips. It's true, the gloss is sticky-- I really prefer LORAC's version of this product when it comes to the gloss portion-- but I can buy two Maybellines for the price of one LORAC! I'm gonna try a few more colors in this product. I love that it actually stays on my lips.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Rice Flower and Shea Body Lotion

This is the only fragrance from B&BW that I can stand. It is pleasant, soft, and I can wear it with just about any fragrance. At the latest semi-annual sale, I stocked up on this stuff because it's the only scent from this store that I would ever wear.

Moisturizers -Cosmedicine - Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion
amybean 1/21/2008 5:04:00 PM
I received a sample of this from Sephora and applied it to my t-zone. Amazing! I didn't need to blot my nose ALL DAY! The oil was completely absorbed. that's probably the first time that has ever happened. But since I used up the sample, i can't justify spending so much money on a lotion, when I could very easily just blot my nose like I have for years. Maybe I will save up some money and repurchase for summer, when my oiliness exacerbates.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Yogurt Mask
amybean 11/2/2006 6:08:00 PM
Washing my face every day with yogurt has totally transformed my skin. It is so glowingly beautiful! here is my secret regimen: Mornings: 1. rub face with coconut oil 2. wash off with full-fat yogurt. (yes, it will leave a residue, but somehow it improves my complexion instead of making it greasy) Evenings: 1. wash face with full-fat yogurt 2. use apple-cider vinegar (1/2 vinegar, 1/2 water) as astringent 3. rub face gently w/ coconut oil 4. blot excess coconut oil with tissue I know that all this coconut oil and fatty yogurt should make me break out, but it has actually improved my oily complexion. My skin is glowing these days. Yay!

I'm giving this one lippie because it does NOTHING for my skin. Absolutely no change, not for the better, not for the worse. I might as well not use it. In fact, I think I am finally going to stop!

Gels/Soaps -Bath and Body Works - Pecan Passion Temptations 3 in 1
amybean 9/8/2006 1:08:00 AM
mmmm, delicious and warm-smelling. Reminds me of Tutti Dolci's Cinnamon Frosting Scent, which broke my heart when they stopped selling it. Pecan Passion makes up for this loss. What a delicious smell. Great formula, too-- very thick & gooey.

Blush -Sephora - Cheek Stain
amybean 9/2/2006 11:39:00 AM
I have this is in nude, which is a PERFECT nude shade for my auburn-haired complexion. I absolutely love the color. but do not be fooled, this is not a "stain" in any sense of the word-- or who knows, maybe it would stain your clothes? but it does not stain your face! I have to reapply at least once an hour to keep the color on my face. Often I will happen to glance into a mirror and think, "hey, where the heck did my makeup disappear to!" and then have to reapply. I have been dilligently searching for a "stain" that actually stains my face this color. So far, no luck. In the meantime, i will repurchase this one if necessary....

Powder -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation
amybean 9/2/2006 11:27:00 AM
I use this product with Bare Escentuals mineral veil on top. L'oreal's mineral makeup is great because unlike BE, it does not have a shimmery android-like quality. Big drawback: the packaging is LAME!!!! it's huge! I do not need my makeup to take up so much room, and I don't think they needed to include the cheesy brush-cap, which I do not even use. Besides, I need to mix 2 of the l'oreal shades to get the perfect color.... which means that I have not one, but TWO of these ridiculously large containers, and there's no way I can take them with me anywhere. Still trying to work out a travel-packaging to make my life easier. Another drawback: I have an oily noise, and I feel like after about 1/2 day, the product clumps on my nose. It is easily smoothed with pressed powder, which I would normally have to use about ten times a day, anyway. I use much less pressed powder since I have found Bare Minerales. Other than that, what a great product!

Lip Gloss -Philosophy - The Muffin Man Lemon Custard Lip Shine
amybean 8/25/2006 10:27:00 AM
Pros: great smell, great taste! Sort of a mix of lemonade and powdered sugar cookie. Cons: little sparkles that it leaves behind, plus the shine is not terribly long-lasting.
