I decided to switch over to powder foundation from liquid foundation because my skin is very acne prone. I was tired to buying liquid foundation with the possibility of it breaking me out. Ive tried mineral foundation but it makes me itch when i wear it alone and if im outside in the sun. This pressed mineral powder foundation is great. I love this thing. They have color ranges for warm, cool, and neutral undertones. Visit their website to understand the color names/ranges. Ive not had any bad reaction to it or breaking me out. My skin is actually better. It keeps me pretty mat through out the day and ill have a little glow by the end of the day. The longevity of it is nice and too bad. It stays on all day if i don't rub or literally sweat it off, but i don't expect foundation to be water proof. It is oil free and good for acne prone/sensitive skin. The coverage is light to medium and definitely buildable. the applicator that comes with it is wonderful and works very well at applying the foundation. it covers spots and redness. Now onto the cons. THe finish is natural but i can still tell that i am wearing some sort of make up or powder. Its not as natural as Bare essentials or liquid foundation. I have to add on bronzer so i dont look washed out because the powder really evens out the skin. THe bronzer adds a realness back the my complexion and dimension. I also do contour. It doesnt photograph the best, ill have to bronze it up and add color. Be careful of a white cast in photos. My color is M40 which is a tad bit light for me but after oxidzation and bronzer, im fine with the finish. THe packaging is sleek and slippery. I find it hard sometimes to open the compact. Overall, i love the product if i warm it up with bronzer and contour. Im fine with it because most powders tend to make you look washed out anyways. I honestly think it was liquid foundation that has messed up my skin. Ill only wear liquid foundation from now on, only on special occasion. If your stuck on which powder foundation to start with because you have skin problems, i recommend this product. Its worth the try. TIP: i wear underneath it a good moisturizer or otherwise it will accentuate dry spots/areas.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15

Pros: Keeps me mat and by the end of the day, i have a semi-glow look. Great coverage with the full coverage kabuki brush. I love it covered my flaws/acne scars, redness, but it still looked like skin/natural. COns: if i wear this alone, it made me itch when i was outside. After 2 weeks, i noticed it clogged my checks/pores, so i had to return it. I was not going to keep using it.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast

Waterproof/Black; Pros: the waterproof formula is definitely waterproof. no smudge, safe to wear if you'll be swimming. great for bottom lashes. holds a curl. volumizing + length. Cons: very difficult to take off, even with eye make up remover. will need to invest in a very good make up remover. it takes days and hard work to take off. my eyes hurt and eyelashes fall out. can be clumpy, hard after it dries on lashes

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Sublime Mousse

i dont have problems with grey hair but i get bored easily so ill dye my hair. i enjoyed this product very much. it is foam so i was very easy for me. i am not great at dying my hair so this helped alot and i didnt have to comb through my hair as much. the original dye, you need to comb through your hair which i hate becuase my hair falls out and gets tangled. this makes it a lot easier which is why i like it. the longevity of it is decent, similar to original hair dyes. i didnt feel like it lasted longer or faded faster. just as good. it will be a lil more expensive and color selection are limited but im sure that will change. UPdate: its been a few months now and the color seems to have faded or just washed out. I dont notice my roots and my hair color is all the same, back to my natural hair color. So its up to you if you want a color that fades overtime so you dont have to keep dying your hair to hide your roots.

i had high hopes for this product but not great enough for me. It was i think 30 dollars, not worth it. It only spins in one direction and not multi direction like other spin brushes. what am i going to get out of one direction spinner. it didnt seem to do anything for me and i returned it.

Loose Powders -Neutrogena - Healthy skin
amyang 2/8/2011 7:27:00 PM
I bought this for 50% off so i was really happy and excited. I got medium which may be too dark for me but with light light strokes, its ok. I like it so far to set my make up, looks natural and is a very simple loose powder. I bought this because its oil free and wont clog pores. I do wish too that they had a translucent one. Ive notice it doesnt make me oily or shiny or anything like that so thats good. :_)

Blush -Maybelline - Expert Wear Blush
amyang 2/8/2011 7:23:00 PM
I bought them 50% off so not so much of a loss. I got mocha velvet which is a light brown color and Plush plum or something like that, which is a light purple. I was disappointed in these colors. As in other reviews, little to no pigmentation unless you use their blush brush that is brittle and hard, to actually dig in the product. By then, when i finally apply it, ive already set off my patchy areas. the harsh strokes i need for blush to get on my cheeks doesnt look natural either. Solution: i literally dig into the product for it to come out, i mix it with my primer or moisturizer for a creme like blush and use it like that. For now, thats how ill use it up. Although, not much pigmentation, i do like the colors because i dont have any like them and they oil free and dont clog pores.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
amyang 1/14/2011 7:52:00 PM
I love it but would not buy it again. Its expensive, about $6 for 50 sheets and i constantly use them so they run out pretty fast and not worth it. The packaging, when i mean to pull out one, many come out at once so i have to be careful. It does have mineral oil. And although it does get rid of oils, its unsanitary because when i need to blot, more times than not, my hands are dirty. I dont want to use my hands to blot my face, my hands are dirty/bacteria and i dont always have access to a restroom to wash my hands. Overall, it does the job but repeatly having to buy it becomes expensive and ive found other alternatives.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
amyang 1/14/2011 7:41:00 PM
I love this product but there are definitely some pros and cons. Its the most volumizing drug store mascara out there that is comparable to diorshow or high end. Full on volume/some length and affordable. It can be applied for some volume to something dramatic. To some extent, over many coats, it can get clumpy. I like this better than some diorshow ones because the brush is smaller and easier to use and apply mascara. And it does not get flaky or fall outs. Cons: its smudges under my eyes throughout the day and i constantly have to use a Q tip. BUT ive found a solution to that. After coating my lashes and letting it dry, i set it with another mascara that is either waterproof or does not smudge. I use Maybelline's falsies to set it and it does a better job of not smudging though out the day.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
amyang 1/14/2011 7:31:00 PM
I love this because i can use it to clean, wash, remove all face make up and its not drying or too harsh. Its a perfect everyday wash. They have formulas to accommodate skin type: oily, dry or normal/combination....This replaces my make up remover wipes that dont even do as good of a job as Cetaphil does and the product lasts me much longer. I save money and i can use it 3 times a day and it wont irritate my skin.

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Natural Finish- Long Lasting Foundation SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]
amyang 11/19/2010 7:57:00 PM
I have acne prone, oily/normal skin (a lil dry around my mouth, chin and during winter), Asian and light completed. I have some scarring and my skin is finally clearing up from acne. Pros: Keeps my face mat very well throughout day. Having to blot once a day. The formula is thin and finish i very natural. Does not look like you have on make up. When i build with it to cover blemishes, it still looks natural and is the same color as it is on your fresh skin. Sometimes, with other foundations, when you build with it, the color gets darker and changes, the color looks uneven. This foundation stays even, even with building coverage. Color match is awesome, the brand is for yellow undertones. Variety of colors to match skin tones. Stays on pretty well, i dont notice it coming off unless i touch it. I apply it with my hands after a good moisturizer. Has SPF. Does not break me out, im able to use it on my blemishes. Only need a little at a time, will last you a long time. Cons: Goes on smooth but gets very drying, will make any flake or dry patchy area show up 10xs more. So i add in a little moisturizing foundation or lotion to it. (i also exfoliate my skin) It'll be even more perfect for very oily skin, especially during the summer. It is very expensive, 45 plus tax, $50.00. Coverage is thin so not good if you need med to full coverage and need to cover up acne. I recommend this for anyone who has oily skin and wants a good yellow undertone shade for a perfect match. Some one who needs natural, light coverage and some coverage on marks. Although its very drying, its something i can work with and look pass. Its fine for me and i can work with it.

Scrubs -Clinique - Exfoliating Scrub
amyang 8/27/2010 7:46:00 PM
When i first used this product, it felt like an old layer of my skin was taken off, revealling new skin. Like my skin was breathing. It felt so good. The lady over the counter said to not use it on active pimples or it'd spread the bacteria, so be careful. Although i love this product and its really great, i wont buy it again and i dont use it as often. I am acne prone and this got to be too harsh for my skin. If/when i wasnt careful, it made my acne flare up or worse. So i use it sparingly on pimple free areas of my skin. Id suggest this to people with regular skin.

Skincare - Face -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Vitamin E Pure Beauty Oil
amyang 8/27/2010 7:35:00 PM
I was super duper excited to try this cuz of rave and reviews. Im a lil disappointed. I bought this for my acne scars. When i bought it, it was very sticky and the product was all over the packaging. Very messy packaging and the product is sticky. I honestly dont like using it because the product is sticky, my hair gets stuck on it when i go to bed. I want my skin to feel soft and smooth when i go to bed. Although, in the morning, my skin did feel a little nicer and look brighter. And as for my scars, i dont know for sure if it did anything. I just couldnt stand the feeling of this on my face so i stopped using it. Maybe if i did use it longer, perhaps id notice some difference because vitamin E is good for the skin and scars. I dont know, well see if i continue using it and ill update also.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Tone Correcting Moisture SPF 30
amyang 8/27/2010 7:28:00 PM
For the longest time, ive been looking for something that will treat my scars and act as a moisturizer w/ SPF. I love it that it has spf 30, oil free, wont clog pores and it has helpful ingredients too. Ive been using this for about 2 to 3 weeks. I use other acne scar treatments too. I wouldnt trust this product to do all the work at treating my scars fairly quickly. My scars are lighter but i cant say that it was the only thing that helped with my scars. Im sure it does helps a bit too though. What i dont like about this product is that, although it is lightweight, i find it to be a tad bit thick/shiny. Its like a light to medium consistency. You really need to work at blending it into your face for a light weight feel. And it makes my face shiny when i first apply it. But after my foundation routine and setting powder, the shininess isnt so much of a problem. Overall, id probably buy this again because i cant find anything else out there like this for a cheaper price. Department stores are really/even more expensive. If youre thinking about trying it, dont try it expecting quick results at clearing blemishes. I think this product acts like a moisturizer with spf that will help scars overtime. I'll update if ive notice any other results and i also plan to buy the night version of this.
