Makeup Brushes -Aromaleigh - Chubby Blender-Brown Faux Luxurious Taklon Brush [DISCONTINUED]

I bought this brush a few months ago, thinking I *had* to have it cause it was different from every other brush I had. The brush itself is very well-made. It has short, dense, rounded bristles that are super soft and doesn't shed. It sat around in my brush organizer, completely unloved until a few weeks ago. I just couldn't figure out how to use it for but couldn't bear parting with it. Then, I had an epiphany...I had been reading several threads on the board about stippling on foundation to make it look more natural while providing good coverage. I was about to head to Target for a skunk brush for this purpose, then realized "why not try the chubby blender, it might work for that purpose and it's not being used right now." I went home to try it out and stippled on my Maybelline Superstay with it. The result: complete flawlessness. The brush is the perfect size for getting hard-to-reach-areas (around the nose and eyes, etc). Yet it is thick enough to apply enough product and "stipple" it on my cheeks, forehead, chin, etc. It allows my foundation to completely cover my acne scars with this stippling method. I am now using this brush daily to apply my superstay with great luck! First, I apply a small puddle of superstay on the back of my hand. Next, I gently pick up a small amount with the brush. Then I stipple it on the larger areas of my face. Finally, I use the side of the brush to blend any lines around my eyes, chin, and hairline. I make sure to wash it everyday after use (with cleansing oil since superstay is bullet-proof) and the brush holds up well to frequent washings. Perfect!

Blush -Cargo - PlantLove blush - Rose

I really like this blush. It is sheer, but it is perfect for a natural flushed-face look. I got this in a palette with 2 blushes and 4 eyeshadows so I could try out the line without spending oodles of cash. The palette was $38 and well-priced in my opinion. I can't really comment on the packaging (mine came in a cardboard palette not the plactic clamshells the blushes normally come in). However, if I ever run out of this blush, I will definately repurchase.

Cleansers -Desert Essence - Thoroughly Clean Face Wash with Organic Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi
rated 5 of 5
amy813 8/27/2009 7:20:00 PM

This cleanser is highly recommended on some online forums and for good reason! This cleans skin completely without drying, removes every trace of makeup, and really does help clear up and prevent pimples. I have very sensiotive, acne-prone skin and this cleanser helps keep my acne under control without aggrevating my sensitive skin. I received an 8 oz. bottle in a swap and loved it so much, I ordered a liter bottle from drugstore.com. It is super cheap and should last a good long time. As some other reviewers have said, it is very liquidy and squirts straight out if the tip gets clogged. I just turn the bottle kind of sideways and put my cupped hand about 2 inches away and it works just fine. Packaging issues alone would not keep me from buying this over and over again. It is truly the best cleanser I have ever found.

Polishes -Lacura - Nail Polish
rated 5 of 5
amy813 8/21/2009 8:41:00 PM

WOW! I must start by saying that I work in a paint store so my nails get very beat up throughout the day. Because of this, I very rarely paint my nails, but my hubby had been bugging me to put some cute color on my nails, so I picked this up in 300 (a really pretty peachy-pink with gold shimmer) and the clear. I applied the color first (no base coat) then topped it off with the clear to protect the finish a bit. This lasted a good week on my nails!!! Very surprising cause even OPI and other high end polishes usually last 3-4 days being exposed to house paint and harsh cleaners all day. At $1.99 each at Aldi's this is a steal! I recommend anyone pick some of these up nect time they are grocery shopping in Aldi's

Mascara -NYX - NYX Doll Eye Mascara- Long Lash
rated 3 of 5
amy813 4/27/2009 6:55:00 PM

This stuff is great! It was recommended to my by some great girls on the forums and I'm so glad I decided to buy it. I imagine it can be pretty hard to find for some people, but I was lucky enough to have a fragrance outlet 10 minutes from my house that carried the entire line of NYX products. The price is great ($8 a tube)---I would pay twice that for this! I have pretty long lashes already that have a fair amount of curl to them (I rarely use an eyelash curler) and was looking for something to look relatively natural but still open up my eyes and give my lashes some oomph. This is perfect! No clumping and my lashes don't feel crunchy after I apply this, just soft. Good stuff! UPDATE: Ok, so my eyes had been very irritated for a few weeks and after eliminating every other eye product, I have come to the conclusion that this is what cuased it. I think the fiber somehow falkes off into my eyes throughout the day. Bummer:(

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Abbott's Perk Me Up Concealer
rated 5 of 5
amy813 4/27/2009 6:19:00 PM

I ordered this trying to find a replacement for their discontinued intensive light. I read in a magazine that peach is supposed to disguise dark circles. It did not work well on me, it just looked fake. I wish they would bring the intensive light back cause the yellow in that works wonders on my dark circles. The search is on for another mineral concealer...

Lipstick -Alima - Nourishing Lipbalm
rated 5 of 5
amy813 6/13/2008 1:50:00 PM

I love these lipbalms! They are the best tinted lipbalms I've tried. They actually moisturize, unlike a lot of tinted lipbalms out there, leave a slightly glossy sheen, and have the perfect amount of color (sheer but not too sheer). I got a few as extras in a swap and immediately had to have more! Right now, I have mango, fig, and pomegranate and I love them all. Mango is the perfect summer shade, with a bit of shimmer and a peachy pink color (just like a mango). Fig is a gorgeous shimmery plummy pink. Pomegranate is the perfect "natural" color, with hints of pink, red, and beige. Mango and fig do have a fair amount of pigment (almost like a lipstick) while pomegranate is farily sheer, like a true tinted lipbalm. These are a must-have in my makeup bag!

Moisturizers -Weleda - Almond Soothing Facial Lotion
rated 5 of 5
amy813 6/12/2008 10:53:00 AM

This moisturizer is wonderful! I am a huge fan of Weleda and their Skin Food has been a staple in my household for YEARS! When I discovered this at Target I had to try it! I bought the tarvel size tube and started using it as my night cream. I instantly fell in love! I have sensitive combo skin that is often on the drier side (rarely oily) and this moisturizes super well without irritating my skin. I am als prone to breakouts, and this has caused none. A tiny dab is enough for my entire face and neck. I am on RAM, so I wait about 15 minutes after applying it before I use this. I wake up to glowing skin every morning and haven't had a new pimple in months! A++++++

Powder -Jane - Be Pure Mineral Makeup with *Puff attached*
rated 2 of 5
amy813 1/28/2008 1:37:00 PM

I guess I am in the minority here. I got this in a swap. I agree the sponge applicator puff sucks, I don't use it. But the actual product is very good. Perfect coverage and the fair shade is a perfect match for my NC20 skintone. I buff it on with my EM Flat top brush which works 1,000X's better than the puff that is attached to this. This is probably the best drugstore mineral makeup I've tried. I would purchase again. EDITED: After using this for a few weeks, it has begun breaking me out. Back to EM!

Blush -Everyday Minerals - waffle cone
rated 5 of 5
amy813 1/18/2008 3:05:00 PM

I just ordered a full-size of this (skipped the sample) after hearing rave reviews and I'm so glad I did! This is my fav. EM blush! Looks very natural and is a great every-day color. I would categorize this shade as a shimmery nude (more beige than peach or pink). Perfect!

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Girl's Day
rated 4 of 5
amy813 1/18/2008 3:02:00 PM

I really like this blush from EM. Gives me a nice, fresh-faced look. I can imagine it's not for everyone, but I prefer a little shimmer in my blush! It's a pretty-reddish-coral shade with lots of sparkle. Looks great with silver or champagne eyeshadow and sheer reds lips! I just ordered a full-size after using and loving the sample, and I imagine this will last quite a few years!

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
amy813 1/18/2008 2:58:00 PM

Several years ago, I was a die-hard BE user, but noticed it was beginning to clog my pores. Ever since, I have been on the search for the perfect foundation! I have tried PF, L'Oreal, Neutrogena, Alima, Jane, etc. This is my favorite (Alima comes in 2nd, followed by EM semi-matte). Goes on oh so smoothly with their flat-topped brush (which every mineral makeup wearer needs to go on-line and buy right now!) and looks natural, not at all cakey like BE did. It provides perfect coverage (unlike the drugstore brands I tried). I love that EM has build-your-own kits and the free sample kit is wonderful for finding you perfect foundation shade! Will buy again and again! Oh, and for anyone that cares, I wear fairly light neutral (I am an NC20, and wear N-2 in Alima)

Blush -Everyday Minerals - Apple
rated 3 of 5
amy813 1/18/2008 2:53:00 PM

This is a very popular EM blush shade, but it just didn't work well with my fair skin tone. It's a great neutral color, but a bit too dark for me. I much prefer their Nick Nack which is the perfect pink for my skintone!

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
rated 5 of 5
amy813 1/18/2008 2:05:00 PM

I have to join the raves on this brush! I adore it! I got it as part of the 6 pc. full-size build-your-own kit, so it was a steal! I love the synthetic fibers, so soft! It applies my mineral powder foundation like a dream...gives great coverage but also looks very natural. Purchasing this brush has me lemming many more EM brushes! Great buy.

Fragrances -mark - Jewel Eau de Toilette
rated 5 of 5
amy813 10/21/2007 10:45:00 PM

I realize that fragrance is apersonal thing, but I don't understand all the bad reviews here. This is my new favorite perfume! It smells a lot like Lancome Miracle (which I love) but for way less money. I don't think the bottle looks "barbie-ish" at all. And the reviewers who said it smelled like playdough? I'd like to know what kind of playdough you played with cause I want some! Will definately repurchase. Love it!
