i wanted to love this so much and on paper it sounded perfect. firstly i was matched wrongly in colour to light 4 by the sa but i could just get away with it as summer is coming but thats still pissy when you pay so much for the product and the knowledge of sa's. - on first application lovely, sheer, not too heavy just ver natural looking but it didnt last. i have combination skin and this sank in to every small pore on my nose and i have never had a foundation do that and dont have very large pores at all!!!! has no staying power what so ever even with a primer and i could only get this to last 3-4 hrs max before i needed to re do my whole face. i dont touch my face very much at all and after a few hours i got that blotchy look like my makeup had been stippled?? for the price i was dissapointed and it was very promising but whilst the colour selection is good and light 3 would have been perfect the formula just doesnt work on me. on the other hand because this failed i have now discovered dior nude skin which was my second option and it is much much better - if your having the same problems with sheer glow as me try the dior !!!
nc 15- got 002 good colour match, great bottle and pump - good control over product amount dispensed. At first it blended quite well and i didnt have a problem with the glitter as some people have pointed out i thought it quite well done and not as obviously sparkly as some have claimed. those are where the pro's end- i thought this was an awesome foundation but it wears really really badly on me, by the end of the day my face looked patchy exactly like when you put wet products over powder and rub and the shimmer actually served to make my complexion look ruddy and older than i am. i have combination skin and it weared baddddly one of the worst wear wise for a long time and this isnt a patch on nars sheer glow as some have said which seems to be able to glow just via the formulation and not with the addition of physical shimmer if you get my meaning would never repurchase or even try to use this up as it looks awful
Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Black
ames1001 1/17/2010 10:40:00 AM
loooooove this so much! Ihave a sleek liner which is much thicker in consistency and no matter what i try i cant get it off the brush! This baby however is awesome, i wouldnt call it a gel more of a cream, and a little goes a long long way it is soooo richly pigmented even more so than my sisters BB which i was lemming till i got my hands on this. Not keen on the packaging just because the lid makes it look like a tester, the brush is better than i expected for essentially what is a bonus and is dense enough to work with this product well. Also it doesnt clog the brush with its consistency. I have not been more in love with an eyeliner since the urban decay 24/7. i just wish this came in more colours as im not sure eggplant is for me- and this product has single handedly killed every lemming i had for BB and mac fluidlines. its a must try- ooooo one point is it is a mission to remove although loreal demaq works well and clinique cleansing balm
Self Tanners -St.Tropez - Everyday Daily Moisturiser
ames1001 1/17/2010 9:57:00 AM
i feel that with self tanners in general whether moisturisers or mousse or cream whatever- it is a matter of you get what you pay for unfortunately. I have tried the johnsons holiday glow which as one muaer below me says after a few mins the product rolls into little thready bits and can have a grainy feel- for that reason yuk! i have also tried the dove one as well which is better, doesnt smell great - gives a good enough colour- can be streaky at times and a bit on the orange side. so finally to st tropez - i love this product, i really quite like the smell but can see how this may bother some people. Suprisingly it is also a good moisturiser like really good! leaves my skin very very soft whereas some can dry you out. great colour, im a nc15 and my body is prob paler than that and this gives a nice glow without it being in your face tan. I got it in fair- medium and so far im very impressed, easy to use packaging, kind of expensive but widely avaliable in the uk whereas a few years ago it was just salons and department stores now DS sell it. to keep it cheap(er) i alternate between using this one night then DOVE the next etc until i get the colour i want- may be expensive but worth it due to the results.
i get this through some lovely girls on here in the us for me as its difficult to get in the uk apart from rip off ebay. love love love the smell even though some dont but i love the smell of mens cologne. I put this in damp hair on the ends- dont touch the roots and it makes my wavy hair sleek, so so smooth and shiny. my hair is easily tangled after a nights sleep and this helps only thing is it sometimes doesnt last till the next day and sometimes i take a break from using this everytime i wash my hair as its almost like too much keratin which can make hair brittle and dry. i also have the chi keratin mist and this is a much better product, a little also goes a long long way - love this stuff but dont over use!
i bought the colour Latte 2 Go the other day and put it on tonight and i am really impressed. this shade is a close to dupe to opi tickle my francy. it was opaque in one coat, non streaky which i find can be a problem with pigmented creams. gorgeous colour and only £2.99. lasts well too. the only small gripe i have with this is the brush is a bit small but the bottle looks quite sleek- def give these a shot im going to go get a backup tommorrow!
one product i can safely say is a HG. Im nearly 23 and can already see a difference in my skin from when i was 18 and when i see it was at its peak looking at old photos. so my aim was to try and get back to that! I was starting to get larger pores round my nose, uneven skin tone and a slight change in texture which this product has all changed. I did have a small amount of purging from deep down clogged pores which have all cleared up now, my skin tone has evened and is less red when not wearing makeup, nasal pores have shrunk and black heads have gone, refined texture all over and my skin now looks as good as it did a few years ago. its also cleared a few large clogs from around my chin. I use this every night after toning and before moisturiser. i also have the walgreens dupe which even though that is 8% my skin reacted as if that was harsher than the AH 10% i prefer the consistency of this one which is slightly more creamy, a little goes a long way and tbh the smell doesnt bother me at all. only thing i dont like is its not easily avaliale in the UK and i dont like the way it never feels like i have the lid on properly due to the gap between lid and jar. this is one of the most awesome products ive ever tried and hopefully it will be avaliable for years to come.
i also have the plain one in the tin and i much prefer this, i think the tube is far more hygenic. This saved my lips the other day i started off with a bobbly feeling and like my lips were cracking but there was no obvious peeling skin so i scrubbed with a toothbrush and got a few bits off then i could see my lips were slowly shedding a complete layer but there was no obvious flakiness. so i got it all off and went in search of a new lip balm and picked this up as my lips were really painful this stung the 1st time but has really helped and three hours later my lips areback to normal from feeling horrible. I paid nearly £3 which is fine by me and the scent doesnt bother me at all so maybe they have modified it or ours is slightly different in the uk?? this will keep me going all winter and it doesnt slide off easily either
Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
ames1001 11/30/2009 9:12:00 AM
love love love this, this is def my holy grail eye liner. Creamy, buttery glides right on without the need for stretching and tugging. dark pigmentation and can be blended quite easily if you do so pretty quickly after application as it kind of sets. good top that doesnt get lost and come off as well- one of my hates when the tops fall off and the tip gets ruined.
one of the most unusual colours ever, its not bam in your face anything and i swear i see something different everytime i look! on first layer its a sheer whitish grey creme, on second it has more of a sheen and its a white with a grey tinge which i swear also twinges ever so slightly blue. in certain lights after the third coat it looks like there is a slight flesh tone too it - i think this is either a love or hate colour but i love these cameleon colours that keep u guessing
I adore this colour, whenever i put this on i cant stop looking in the mirror! awesome formula sooooo creamy like a very pigmented creamsheen if u compare to mac. packagings ok nice and simple nothing special, suits my nc15 skin prefectly and adds an interesting pop to your face without being garish or in your face. i have so many of these now lol
this is known as cheryl cole pink on the counter in selfridges as they sent her a promo box and she has been seen out and about in it. so i hit this baby today with one of the lovely sa's there and nicola one half of pixiwoo on youtube. I love this colour it is so so bright but classy at the same time, its very very very pigmented and matte and the sa paired it with their gloss in DIVINE. im nc15/20 blue eyes and dark hair and this makes everything 'pop'. ONLY for the BRAVE. also love this as a blush !
overall a new favourite gives great length and definition, good brush head that coats even the smallest of lashes and this is very very buildable one of the best i have used and i have tried a LOT
Treatments -The Body Shop - brazil nut moisture mask
ames1001 10/12/2009 8:02:00 PM
ok this is a bit of a tricky one as you have to get it right or the outcome is horrendous. i have had a few times of using this as a conditioning mask in the shower after shampooing but before conditioning to end up with waxy lank hair that looks wet even when dry due to not reading the instructions properly! esue washing hair all over again! firstly this is a pre shampoo treatment, you need to shampoo it out to get rid of everything. so i stuck with this and tried again last night i had a shower and just wet my hair, rung it out, slathered this on and went to sleep in a shower cap, this morning i shampooed it out including the lengths of my hair which i dont normally do as i dont want to dry them out and finished with a long rinse and regular conditioner. My hair felt really really smooth not that fake silicone smooth but the smooth where you know it has made a difference to the condition, that lasting smoothness. I dont know why this product has been rated so low as it is a really good product. i adore the smell, its a slightly spicy herbally scent that lingers on your hair. and i love it, its very unusual and i can see how not everyone would like it so smell this in store 1st! i have fine hair but lots of it thats long and wavy and i really really like this mainly because it feels like it has really penetrated the shaft and not just coated it like so many do.
Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Plus White - 5 Minute Speed Whitening Gel
ames1001 10/1/2009 3:58:00 PM
ok this is going to be a long one lol, got this stuff from ebay as you cant freely get it in the UK. First thing i would say is bin the mouth guard you can get in the set box with this and buy some thermoform guards which you can mould to your teeth and sit better in your mouth without leaking gel. personaly i paint this on my teeth with an ear bud or Qtip and then slip the guards on and leave for 10. 15. 20 mins max. Pros- definatley works and well at that, cheap and for the amount you use each application a tube will last a long time. helped stripped the staining off my dads teeth which believe me was bad from 40 years of smoking and a bad brushing regime. ok taste not as vile as some other whiteners i have used and is by far the most effective i have found. cons- i could not use this for two weeks straight as it ended up making my lower teeth so painfully sensitive when i have it on and now my gums bleed a lot which i have never had a problem with before. I now have to use a sensitive tooth paste and after a few weeks i tried again and still get seering pain so this is reserved for my top row now. also my mum tried this for a good two weeks and it did nothing at all for her. All in all if you use this make sure you watch your gums and sensitivity as this is a product you will need to top up on, also may not work for you. HTH
