Conditioner -Suave - Professionals Humectant Conditioner
ameka 9/11/2003 11:10:00 PM
This is another product tried and tested in my continuous search for a holy grail hair routine. I've been trying the no 'poo conditioner washing and using it as a final rinse -and sometimes as a leave-in- and it's working nicely. Permed frizziness has made way for soft and healthier looking hair. Admittedly i might be changing too many variables at once to know that the results are due to this product alone but it's drugstore cheap, so no regrets. However what does annoy me is the fakefakefake tropical coconut smell which makes me nearly gag in the shower whenever i use it. Thankfully, once hair's dried the scent doesn't bother me as much.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences for Dry/Damaged /Color Treated Hair
ameka 9/5/2003 12:18:00 AM
The shampoo was pitiful -stripped my color and dried hair out-, but the conditioner is a pretty good one. It's quite light, so works effectively as a wash (ala no shampoo method) without weighing hair down. The non-annoying scent is great because some drugstore finds have overpoweringly cloying stuff, but this is subtle enough and decent. Still would not repurchase because i can find comparable/better products (VO5, Suave) for cheaper.

Fragrances -BCBG Fragrance - Metro
ameka 8/28/2003 10:10:00 PM
Second favorite of the collection, falling only slightly behind Nature. It's crisp, citrusy and resident choice for sophistication. Sadly, it bothers my bf's allergies so i don't get to wear it much.

Fragrances -BCBG Fragrance - Star
ameka 8/28/2003 9:59:00 PM
I'm fairly neutral towards this scent- it's a simple powdery floral on me. It's reserved for those days when I want something light and feminine without too much impact. There's nothing inherently wrong with this, but i just don't reach for it that often.

Fragrances -BCBG Fragrance - Nature
ameka 8/17/2003 6:20:00 PM
At first I didn't think much of this, but after wearing it awhile I've come to like it best of the BCBG fragrances. On me it's a clean green scent which like its names implies is quite refreshing. The only downside is that being a light scent it doesn't seem to last very long.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 266 Thin Small Angle (Synthetic hair)

Got this as a gift and I love it! Perfect for lining eyes with precise definition. I love the look of liquid eyeliner but used to have mucho difficulty making sure the line was even and straight -but not since this brush. It's a great find indeed.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - XXX Shine Lipgloss in Baked
ameka 8/2/2003 3:10:00 AM
Glitterly bronze which perfectly complements a tan. Great color that I like to carry with me at all times. I love the minty smell and the cooling sensation it gives lips, but I don't like the chunks of glitter left after the glossiness wears off. And like other reviewers mentioned, mine also has a tendency to leak. For me the novelty of the whole mintiness makes the product worth it.

Styling Products -Pantene - Scrunching Gel
ameka 7/25/2003 6:09:00 PM
I tried using this gel on my permed hair and although it made my hair feel soft, it didn't do much otherwise. Decent curl definition and no crunchiness, but didn't hold very long. In combination with other products - mousse, hairspray- it worked okay, but I want more mileage in a product on its own and so won't repurchase.

Styling Products -Physique - Curl Defining Scrunching Foam
ameka 7/18/2003 11:33:00 PM
It's a nice light mousse which gives good hold and definition to my recently permed hair. Great volume when applied to roots too. I'm not too partial to the watermelon scent but it doesn't linger long. Overall it's a nice drugstore product which delivers.

Polishes -Maybelline - Ultimate Wear Nailpolish
ameka 7/11/2003 11:25:00 AM
I bought the Gloss Base & Top coat in this formula and have not been that impressed. As a top coat it's decent in that it did help resist chipping but it also really matted/dulled down the colour underneath. Maybe just got a bad bottle but after a few uses it got very clumpy and hard. It's cheap, but think i can do better then this.

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - New Lengths with Teflon Top Coat & Base Coat
ameka 7/11/2003 11:15:00 AM
This is a favorite to use when wanting my nails natural yet groomed. Don't know if it did anything for length, but inexpensive and lasts pretty long without chipping. I also have this in French White which creates the perfect tip for a french manicure.

Lip Gloss -Cargo - Waikiki Lip Gloss
ameka 7/3/2003 8:06:00 PM
Shimmery champagne and medium brown - the perfect palette for a nude lip look. The brown alone can become a bit too muddy with my asian MMM skintone, but layering fixes that problem easily. The gloss is moisturizing and feels great on my lips, but it dosn't seem to last as long as other Cargo glosses. I keep having to reapply but b/c the tin it's in is huge, still worth the $.

Lip Gloss -Cargo - Bora Bora Lip Gloss
ameka 6/24/2003 5:28:00 PM
Just love the cute tins that Cargo products come in. The Bora Bora colour combo of pink/berry is pretty, versatile and works well with my asian MMM skin. As a gloss it's smooth, delivers lots of shine and is very moisturizing to the lips. Usually just dip my fingers to use, altho a lipbrush would prolly be more sanitary and economical. No worries, because the tin is huge and lasts a long time.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Clear Mascara
ameka 6/18/2003 12:45:00 AM
I am not a mascara person. My experience in the past with different brands/types/whatever resulted in the same smudgey raccoon eye look. Reason i bought this was with the hopes that it would hold the curl from an eyelash curler without the mess of colored mascara. And it did, reasonably well even. I didn't have problem with clumping or flaking either. I just don't think that it made enough of an impact on me one way or another to justify repurchase.

Treatments -John Frieda - Beach Blonde- Life Preserver hair conditioning oil
ameka 5/30/2003 8:12:00 PM
Love love love this product! My thick hair has been put through the ringer with a recent perm (love the curls, hate the dryness) and this conditioning oil has def helped my hair feel soft and manageable again. I like to mix a few drops with a good creamy leave-in conditioner and apply to wet hair, or use it to tone done frizzy spots once dry. It's a great shine booster but because it's an oil, greasiness will occur if not used carefully. Love the tropical coconut smell too. Only drawback would be the flippy-cap top which seems very unsecure and might open if transporting product.
