Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Walking on Eggshells
amberlynnbg 10/8/2011 7:24:00 PM
YOU NEED THIS PRODUCT. First, it's dirt cheap. I bought mine for about $2.50 at Wal-mart. Second, the colors are well pigmented, blend smoothly and stay on the lid all day. Third, these are excellent dupes for Mac Phloof (white color), Mac Naked Lunch (pink) and Patina or Woodwinked (brown). And these are all popular Mac colors! I love this trio and will repurchase over and over again. Also, the white highlight color can be used as a face highlighter (much like Nars Albatross except much more finely milled and easier to blend).
Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes - waterproof
amberlynnbg 10/8/2011 7:20:00 PM
Drugstore dupe for Benefit's They're Real! mascara, minus the Givenchy style end ball. Very good at lengthening and separating. A little lacking in the volumizing department but still excellent. The brush is amazing and the packaging is well done. To make my lashes really pop, first I apply the regular L'Oreal Voluminous mascara in Carbon Black, then apply this to lengthen and separate. And voila!
My favorite nude lip! The color is a beige neutral but with a slight lean towards the warm-orange side. It's definitely NOT orange so don't worry, it's just a more golden color than pink. The lipstick applies beautifully, but I must say that I can't wear this on it's own. My favorite lip combo ever is this lipstick paired with Nars Orgasm lip gloss. The mix of the golden tones of the lipstick with the golden pink of the lip gloss is phenomenal! This is much better for lighter to medium skin tones. For darker skin tones, Honolulu Honey would be a similar more suiting option.
Bronzers -Chanel - Soleil Tan de Chanel - Bronzing Makeup Base
amberlynnbg 10/8/2011 7:13:00 PM
Best bronzer, if not the best make-up product I've ever tried! Yes, it's expensive, but it's also worth the money. The quality is excellent--- a little goes a long way, and I've been using mine for over 2 months every single day and there's barely a dent in it. Gorgeous gorgeous color, and this is coming from someone who loves bronzer and has tried many different kinds out there. Easy to blend (I use a Mac 188, but I think a contour brush would work best). Personally I like this better than the cult favorite Nars Laguna, but if it came in a powder version I'd probably like it even more. All in all, a perfect product.
Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer - Sable
amberlynnbg 7/6/2011 8:04:00 PM
Nothing special. Hard to place on the waterline as it is not very creamy. Not bad for the price, but if you're looking for an HG eyeliner, this ain't it.
Eye Shadow -Clinique - Colour Surge Eyeshadow Quad - Teddy Bear
amberlynnbg 7/6/2011 7:41:00 PM
Natural neutral colors, so you can't really go wrong with this. However, it's nothing special. If you are a minimalist when it comes to eyeshadow, this is a good quad. But if you're looking for something with the wow factor, look elsewhere. Also these shadows are very matte, so if you want a glow to your lids, you should skip this altogether. The darkest color applied alone to the crease does give very nice definition to the eyes, though.
This was the very first highlighter I ever bought. Because of all the hype, I bought it thinking it was going to give me that glow I searched for. However, I think this product can come off very fake looking because it is pink toned with silver shimmer. I have pink undertones on my skin and it didn't even look that natural with me. Also, the applicator makes it hard to get a nice even application, and when you get to the last few drops, you pretty much have to break the bottle. This product also must be blended meticulously to have the edges not seem obvious. I did give this product 3 stars though, because when applied to the eyelids or used as a brow highlighter, it is gorgeous.
I dyed my hair a few months ago and my salon lady told me to buy this to protect my hair from fading in the sun. I did, and used it every day, and it faded anyway. To be fair, I live in Southern California, so it's sunny all year here as opposed to many other places. It does smell good, and it's great for detangling, but as far as what it is supposed to be for....Save your money ladies!
This is a good product, but it is really nothing special. Cheaper lip balms like ChapStick do the job just as well. The smell is also very interesting. I can't exactly say what it is, but it kind of smells like an Asian ricecake dessert. Not bad, but I prefer fruity smells in lip balms. Slightly sticky but not bothersome. Overall, I'd say drug store lip balms are just as good.
Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
amberlynnbg 7/6/2011 7:29:00 PM
I have used this for applying liquid foundation, powder, bronzer and blush. I prefer it mostly for liquid foundation, as it gives an airbrushed finish to the make-up. The duo fibre quality makes it so that the brush soaks up very little product, which is great as you will waste less. This brush truly helps a little go a long way, and is a great investment so that you can get as many uses out of your make-up as you can. Worth the price, in my opinion.
Smells great, helps make-up (especially powders) settle and not look so obvious. Doesn't feel sticky or cause skin to become oily. Would definitely repurchase!
Pressed Powders -Sonia Kashuk - bare minimum pressed powder
amberlynnbg 7/6/2011 7:24:00 PM
Very very finely milled, silky smooth powder. Comparable to Lancome's pressed powders. Goes on smooth and doesn't look cakey---- would definitely repurchase.
Any time I have a breakout, I put this all over my face after exfoliating, go to sleep, and wake up with better skin. This stuff is excellent! Worth the price, in my opinion. The shape of the bottle does make it hard to get the last few bits out when you're running low, but a dime sized amount all over the face does the trick.
Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - My Favorite Lip Balm
amberlynnbg 7/6/2011 7:16:00 PM
Truly is my favorite lip balm. The smell is great, it glides on smooth, and is very moisturizing. If they had it in a stick form, I'd love it even more.
Smooth consistency, easy to apply, but not very long lasting, even when set with powder. The smell is also awful. I'd say skip this and go with a higher end concealer.
