Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin
amarna_princess 1/1/2013 2:42:00 PM
I love these. I have thick, coarse, wild, wavy dark hair, and styling it is a nightmare. I typically stick with buns because they are easy, but I started to worry about breakage from elastics. I tried these out (the brunette pins) and they are great. They are pretty much invisible in my hair and they stay in forever - much more effective than hairpins. Of course, you may have a piece fall out of the bun every once in a while (when I used elastics, I'd just tuck it back in) but they are easy to use and I am able to get my hair to stay up in them pretty much all the time. They are not cheap but they've lasted me a while, and if I ever lose one or both I will go a buy another set. I don't know how they would work for fine hair but for thick (and sadly, somewhat naturally stiff) hair, these are very effective.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Revive & Restore
amarna_princess 8/10/2012 1:17:00 AM
I might be the only person who liked this. I have to comment on the fact that you get two balms for very cheap, and i like this. Now onto the balms themselves - the restore is pretty amazing. Very emollient, fruity scented balm that feels quite pleasant on the lips, not too thin or too thick. I like to layer the revive on top of the restore, for the moisture and the spf together. And that isn't necessarily convenient, but it's worth it because i like the layered effect! The interlocking pots make it easy to keep track of them and since i like to layer, it keeps it space-efficient. I like the toothpaste smell of revive - it is definitely a toothpastey kind of mint. These two together make a perfect balm for me and comfort and moisture are my top priorities.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - DCT for lips - Daily Conditioning Treatment SPF 20
amarna_princess 1/15/2012 3:24:00 PM
I've repurchased this because it is the most healing treatment I've ever tried. It's only a couple of dollars and it smells like mildly medicated vanilla, which I love, although the taste is very bitter from camphor and sunscreen. But it is smooth and creamy and a bit glossy, and slightly tingly on the lips. I try not to let my lips get chapped to the point of being raw, so when I feel dryness, pain, or roughness I slick this on right away and my lips are back to normal within an hour, which is enough for mild dryness. Keeps them from chapping as well. Very good stuff for winter!

Lips -Burt's Bees - Rose Tinted Lip Balm
amarna_princess 11/16/2011 10:35:00 AM
I would have been mislead by the size of the product had I not shamelessly peeked before buying. >< This shows up as a pretty tint on me, some actual color! I wanted a rosy red balm, and here it is. Not too bright or warm, just rosy and healthy. Just a small amount of gloss, looks very natural. I wouldn't call this the most moisturizing balm, but it does add some moisture, I usually carry another balm with me just in case. The price is kind of ridiculous ($6.99 I think?) but I'd pay it for this color. Really. I would. Also has a light and pleasant sweet smell.

Lip Treatments -Chapstick - Strawberry
amarna_princess 2/11/2011 4:14:00 PM
I have repurchased this a bunch of times because i LOVE it. My big issue with lip balm is that because so many of them are either "clear" or have sunscreen, they make my lips look lighter, washing me out. This is pink on the tube, and keeps my lips looking very naturally rosy and moist. Love the texture, very smooth and creamy and not too thick or thin. Stays on! Lasts a while! I hate oily balms and this is definitely a smoother, thicker feel. Smells and tastes delicious - i wouldn't say strawberry necessarily but definitely sweet and fruity and unobtrusive. Very cheap, maybe a few cents over a dollar. Honestly the best lip balm in the drugstore, i believe. :)

Lips -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - Advanced No-Injection Lip Plumper
amarna_princess 2/8/2011 1:57:00 PM
I was given this by my sister since she bought it and didn't like the color on her and we do little swaps together :) but i have no idea how much it cost, so i am making an assumption that since it came from bath and body works, it was overly priced. However, I LOVE the gloss in Raspberry. A beautiful browny purple pink, my favorite in a lip color. Lasts a long time (to me, an hour is long for a gloss) and moisturizes and has lovely shine. I haven't liked many plumping lip glosses because they often are uncomfortable but i really like the tingling effect, i don't feel that it is as intense and uncomfortable or numbing as, say, sexy motherpucker by soap and glory. But there is definitely a noticeable tingling effect. Smells faintly of anise. I really do recommend this!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser Cream
amarna_princess 11/3/2010 2:45:00 PM
This is a great, non-drying cleanser. My face is very soft after using this and it helps to keep blackheads and blocked pores under control. The minty tingle is wonderful! I like the whole deep clean line but this is the best, especially for winter. Moderately priced, maybe a little over $6 US. Oily skin can really benefit from this.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Dickinson's Witch Hazel
amarna_princess 10/6/2010 2:29:00 PM
This stuff clears breakouts for me so much faster than benzoyl peroxide, salicylic axid, duac gel, tea tree oil... basically, this works the fastest. I guess it is because it keeps me from being too oily. Not sure how it works but when i use it i'm much less oily throughout the day or night and it doesn't irritate me at all. It smells ridiculous but it isn't a lingering smell at all. If you are struggling with blocked pores, too much oil, and cysts around your period, I would definitely give this a try!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
amarna_princess 8/21/2010 1:35:00 PM
I...LOVE....this powder. I've been using it for a while and it is the best I've encountered, my absolute holy grail. I've used this powder when my skin was at its worst and at its best, so I've used it two different ways. I've applied it heavily and concentrated on things I needed to hide and also as a light dusting just to even things out. It feels like two products in one. It effectively reduces my shine (I'm kinda oily >< ) and feels so light, it is like I'm not even wearing makeup. Never irritates my skin. For a drugstore, a little pricey around ... $10-ish dollars? ...but it is so worth it for me. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that I wish it had a screw-on top instead, even with the little flap that keeps it from spilling out, because I carry it around with me. I do use Buff Beige, and it does have brighter undertones but it blends perfectly into my skin. I've used other colors too, so to the reviewers who had a problem with orangey-ness, try a different color and hopefully you'll end up loving it the way I do. :)

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete All Day Moisturizer with sunscreen Sensitive Skin SPF15 (classic gentle formula)
amarna_princess 8/4/2010 2:59:00 PM
I originally bought this in the oily/combo variety in the jar, loved it, went looking for it, couldn't find it, bought this instead. If I had skin that was more dry, I'd love this. Both types of packaging (bottle and jar) are great. This smells good. But if felt heavy. And I started to break out. I don't know if it had anything to with this. But I gave it to my mother, who has dry skin, and she loves it. So, for dry or really sensitive skin, you'll probably love it. On my oily skin, it was a mess. Too heavy for me!

Blush -Physicians Formula - POwder Palette Multi-Colored Blush
amarna_princess 8/4/2010 2:52:00 PM
First of all - the product itself, I LOVE. Tried it in three different colors, loved them all. They are buildable, blendable, and have never felt heavy or broken me out. Moderately priced I suppose for a drugstore blush, on the pricier side. Now, the packaging isn't horrible - I like that it has a mirror. The one I'm using now has stayed in pan and i carry it around in my purse - a good sign. Now the last two both broke. I emptied them into a small jar and crushed them together and they made a beautiful color, so I was happy to still use it as a loose blush! However, no one WANTS that to happen, and since it has happened to 2/3 of these that I have tried, it is safe to say it might happen to you too. So be careful! But the blush itself is really great, comes in the sweetest colors, and the amount of shimmer is not over the top.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
amarna_princess 8/4/2010 2:46:00 PM
This mascara is incredible. While its effect is more subtle than, say, the colossal volum (which I love!), it gives great definition that really is appropriate anywhere. (which I can't say really for colossal volum) One tube lasts a good while, and gives lashes a healthy, rich look. Pretty cheap, and the amount of positive reviews I think speaks for itself. Great for everyday.

Treatments -Biosilk - Silk Therapy
amarna_princess 8/4/2010 2:42:00 PM
I have used this stuff for years. It's great! It smells good and is perfect for taming flyaways. Yes, it's pricey, but I have to say that it is worth it. Also, works on dry skin in a pinch. My only complaints are one, the price. Two, I wish the cap was a little less messy. It tends to leak a bit. If you are careful though, it shouldn't be a problem. Everyone with coarse hair like mine should at least try this once.

Lip Treatments -Labello - Labello Rosè
amarna_princess 7/1/2010 7:36:00 AM
Totally agree with with wiseowl - I think the word "rose" implies different things in English-cosmetic speak. I was open for anything when I tried this, but a part of me was hoping for a deeper rose shade, along the lines of the Blistex lip tone. Not as dark or red as the Dr. Pepper lipsmacker, but still something that was my-lips-but-better. On fair skin this could look great - my lips are too dark for this to look natural, it washes me out. This is basically a light mauve. Almost bordering on lilac. The product itself was moisturizing and had a pleasant vanilla-perfume smell that I loved, but it looked like I had rubbed light lilac paste on my lips. It just didn't work for me. I payed 1.79 euros for this, and I'm glad I got to try it, but I would never repurchase because of the color (ONLY because of the color!). I would like to give this to a fair-skinned redhead friend of mine when I get back to the states, I believe this would look great on her!

Lip Treatments -Bonne Bell - lip smacker 100% natural

Got honeydew, taste and scent are sort of meh. It goes on gritty, I HATE the texture. Not worth it, you can get other natural lip balms that don't suck!
