Cleansers -Avene - Cleanance soapless gel cleanser for oily skin

Cleans very well and definitely reduces oil and inflammation. This will last you a long time as it's very concentrated. I love the look and smell of this cleanser and it seems to please my skin. May have made my skin purge slightly in the beginning. Very nice product though.
I was looking for a scent that smelled like fresh flowers and I fell in love with this. I was toying with the idea of buying "Chloe" but I went out on a whim and smelled this as well. There was a slightly bitter note in the Chloe that this doesn't contain. I am a very girly girl, very femenine and I feel like this suits me perfectly. If you're into floral, whimsical, romantic scents, you may love this one.
I truly truly love this product. It is very different from most other cleansers in that it uses a glycerine base to cleanse your skin very gently and to not upset your skins' PH which I've learned is hugely important. Your skin has it's own natural acid mantle that protects against bad bacteria. Most harsh cleansers strip your skin of this acid mantle, allowing bacteria to invade your pores and wreak havoc on your skin. Most people that are aggressively washing their faces are actually worsening their skin problems. Since I have started using Spectro Jel, my skin has been smooth, healthy, clear, and my overly oily skin now acts "normal". I cannot see myself straying from this cleanser anytime soon and before this I was very loyal to my Bioderma Sebium. If I do get a breakout, they are very small and superficial and are gone in a day tops. This will remove your makeup if you wipe this off with a wet washcloth. I wear foundation, bronzer and blush daily and have no problems with removing my makeup. You must follow this instructions and rub it in for 30 seconds tops.
I initially bought this to use as an undereye concealer. Well, I didn't find that it worked the greatest for that, as I found it somewhat moisturizing and found that my eye makeup would run into it. I used this recently as a foundation and was really impressed. First of all, I thought the coverage would be sheer but it was so easy to apply and looked beautifully flawless within seconds (I don't have much to cover mind you) I'm not sure how this would work for someone with lots to cover up but I thought it looked great. The finish is satin-matte, looks like healthy skin. I will update if it gives me any issues.
Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey

I'm so glad I found this stuff! So I was watching a television episode and this beautiful actress had the perfect shade of lips. I couldn't keep from staring at her mouth. It wasn't full lipstick, it was a tint of berry and it was so beautiful, not too glossy. I couldn't figure out what she was wearing. I brought it up to a friend and she recommended this and she was spot on. This really is "Almost Lipstick" and not a gloss and it gives the perfect amount of colour. I like the fact that it tends to "dry down" on the lips and almost look like your real lip colour. I still have no idea what that actress was wearing for sure but it looks exactly like Black Honey. I think I may order a few more of these in this shade, this is my new HG lip product.
Eye Makeup Remover -Marcelle - Gentle Makeup Remover for Sensitive Eyes
amanda23 2/2/2013 12:46:00 PM
I was not pleased with this product. I bought this because it specified that it was for sensitive eyes and it claimed to be Canada's No. 1 eye makeup remover. This was extremely oily. I woke up the next morning with the beginning symptoms of a stye and later on in the day noticed I had produced a small whitehead in my undereye region(sexy). When I stopped using this, it went away. I haven't gotten a stye in over 10 years and I'm pretty sure it was from this. Just too heavy and oily
I wonder if anyone can verify something for me. A friend of mine in Canada went to purchase this from a Clinique vendor was informed that it was being discontinued. Has anyone been told the same? I purchased mine from Sephora online recently and there was no indication it was being discontinued..
Shampoo -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Kids Shampoo-Orange/Mango Smoothie

I bought this stuff because I had found it reviewed on here and I'm so glad I did. I have never used a shampoo like this before. My hair is blonde-highlighted, dry, dammaged and fine. This cleanses gently and when I blow-dry and style it is so much smoother and healthier-looking. I usually have an issue with the back of my hair not wanting to cooperate and look smooth with the rest of my hair. After using this shampoo, I was amazed to see my hair smooth as silk back there. I will use this stuff on the days I don't purple shampoo. I'm so glad that I discovered this. I might add that this is a 2 in 1 but I always follow up with a conditioner, as 2 in 1's are never moisturizing enough for me. This paired with Dove repairing conditioner are a dream.
I think there is some kind of confusion with some of the reviews on here. Anyhow, the one I used, which is for the face and has an SPF 20 is amazing. I don't tan very well so when I'm makeup free, I feel self-conscious about my pale face. i generally put this on at night over my Dermaglow purifying night treatment and I wake up with some colour in my face. I have never found this to make me break out nor does it look fake or orange. It looks very subtle and it is easy to gradually build, you could use it every day but I probably wouldn't recommend twice a day. I will always keep this around. Love this way more than Avene's sunless tanner. Neostrata is still my HG sunless for the body but I don't like to use it on my face.
Cleansers -Cetaphil - Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar

I cannot believe how well this works! This is ONLY thing that has completely cleared up my mild bacne breakouts without making my skin dry and uncomfortable. I've started usig this on my entire body and it leaves my skin so soft and smooth, not to mention clear. I would only have a couple of breakouts here and there on my back. Nothing serious but it seemed I always had an issue there and it was enough that I would feel self conscious wearing tank tops or bikinis. I still can't believe how clear and smooth my skin is. I have tried this on my face despite the cardinal rule that you DO NOT use bar soap on your face. It just feels wrong and my facial skin doesn't seem to like this as well as my body. Update: My back is perfectly clear now from using this. I have noticed it has also helped clear up some eczema I had on my foot. I cannot be without this product.
Styling Products -TRESemme - Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist Hairspray

Stuff is dirt cheap, lasts forever, gets the job done and the nozzle doesn't clog. I have a bottle of this next to my Shaper plus and I will reach for this one every time (the nozzle in my shaper plus has gone haywire) but this stuff is great. Has a nice hold and doesn't weight my hair down or feel stiff and dry.
Conditioner -Dove - Damage Therapy Conditioner Intensive Repair
amanda23 12/31/2012 5:30:00 PM
So far I am in love with this condition. After the first use, I thought it was good but didn't realize how special this was til' I used it for about a week. Let me preface by saying that I have fine, damaged, blonde highlighted hair. My holy grail conditioner is Kpak intense hydrator but the price is just too steep for me to justify purchasing regularly. Dove Therapy Conditioner leaves my hair feeling healthy, light and bouncy. I have tangles to the extreme and this allows me to glide through wet hair. The smell is also beautiful and I believe my hair is looking way healthier. I might also add that I purchased this for 2.99 as opposed to K Pak's 22.99 price tag. I am massively impressed with this product.
I had been using the Almay blemish clearing makeup and was finding it was too drying for my skin so I gave this a whirl. This provides me all of the things I enjoy about the blemish clearing makeup without the drying effects. One pump from this is all I need for a fresh, natural-looking face. My skin is responding well to this as I have been noticing it clearing my comedal acne (this claims to be non-comedogenic) so far so good. This honestly lasts all day and continues to look fresh and natural. I might add that the colour choices vary slightly from the blemish clearing makeup, the shades are darker I find. I went with neutral and I wear sand normally. Update: The more I wore this, the less I liked it. It made my skin very dry and would apply patchy some days. Not a fan after all.
I was reluctant to try this product as I likened it to the face wash version of this that had left my skin angry red and dry. So upon reading good reviews on here I gave this a whirl. After nearly a week of using this, I am happy to report that I have had no further breakouts with this. It seems to be drying/clearing up present breakouts on my back.(I might add that my back breakouts are fairly minor but a concern nonetheless.) I will update this with further use, as I hope it continues to work for me. P.S. The smell is nothing at all. If you are treating your skin for a condition, you shouldn't be messing around with anything that contains additives for fragrance value. Update: After using this for a few weeks, I am left disappointed. It has minimized breakouts but not entirely cleared them up, plus it left my skin very dry. I have since gone back to using the Cetaphil gentle cleansing bar and that seems to be doing a better job without the dryness.
Conditioner -Burt's Bees - Super Shiny Conditioner with Mango
amanda23 12/5/2012 4:52:00 PM
I wasn't impressed with this, not the shampoo. This wasn't very conditioning and they both seemed to leave a film on my hair that made it look quite greasy near the end of the day. Too bad I wasted my money on this. Smells great though.
