Skincare - Face -Philosophy - Help Me
rated 2 of 5

Been using this for nine months now with no appreciable results. While I do have some acne, I was mainly interested in it for anti-aging. Like another reviewer said, it definitely didn't hurt my skin, just didn't seem to change it for the better either. I didn't have problems with dryness or breakouts with this, but the long-term results just weren't there.

Sunscreen -Biore - UV Bright Face Milk SPF 50+
rated 5 of 5
alt629 8/20/2011 9:21:00 PM

I have gone through a whole bottle of this and really like it. Compared to the Perfect Face Milk (white bottle), it comes out of the bottle with some iridescence/pearliness which does not really translate to the face, esp after makeup. To me there is no discernible difference between the two, really, beyond appearance. It goes one oily feeling, but you only have to wait a few minutes for it to absorb, and it's fine. You can probably skip moisturizer and primer with this one in the summer, although in winter you may need a moisturizer depending on your skin type and where you live. For reference, my skin is pretty dry and acne prone. This does not break me out at all. Really nice product at a very reasonable price esp when compared to others like Anessa and Sofina.

Sunscreen -Biore - UV Perfect Face Milk SPF 50+

I've bought this several times since the beginning of the year, and I really like it. It goes on oily feeling but takes only a few minutes to absorb into skin. Not a bad makeup primer either. In the humid summers, you are probably safe to skip the moisturizer and primer with this. Winter, you may have to add moisturizer depending on your skin and where you live. My skin is pretty dry though, so of course YMMV. I am pretty acne prone as well and have not had a problem with this breaking me out at all. There is no white cast unless I try to use it on my hands... then for some reason it dries whitish. The price is really great too, especially when compared with Anessa and Sofina. I also have gone through a bottle of the brightening version in the pink bottle, which is very comparable - just comes out more iridescent/pearly which is not really noticeable to me on my face, esp after makeup.

Lip Treatments -LUSH - Ultrabalm
rated 5 of 5
alt629 3/26/2011 9:16:00 AM

I really like ultrabalm. I have had chronically dry and cracked lips as long as I can remember. Before buying ultrabalm, I feel like I tried *everything* without much success. But ultrabalm has helped the chapping and cracking tremendously! I generally use it at night and before applying makeup in the mornings. If I skip a couple nights, I definitely see a difference for the worse. Also, I use Differin, and I find that applying this to eyelids and around the eye area prior to putting on the Differin saves me from dry, itchy, flaky eyes!! Of course, you can use it on hands, elbows, face... anywhere you need some help! I've had my jar for about six months, and I've barely made a dent. Love it.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
rated 5 of 5
alt629 2/12/2011 9:31:00 PM

I LOVE this foundation in Siberia. After years and years of searching for a perfect match for my very fair skin, I've finally found it with this shade. I'd estimate myself as probably an NC10 or lighter, and for a very long time now, I had been mixing "darker" foundations from MAC and Illamasqua with MAC strobe liquid to achieve a lighter (and glowy-er) shade. This foundation does all that in one product... glowy (dewy, not sparkly), and finally, the right color for me (pretty neutral also). I have far from perfect skin, and I'm also happy with the coverage from this foundation (I'd call it medium and buildable). The shade also comes in a matte finish, which I have not tried, but the color is just amazing. I spent $38 and some change for this, I believe sephora has it for $42, worth every penny if you ask me. Just a quick word on durability: have worn a month now without problems with it lasting all day. Temps have been 50-75 with humidity. I do have dry skin, for reference. I love, love, love this one. All you very fair skinned gals out there, do yourself a favor and pick this one up now!!

Lip Treatments -LUSH - Sweet Lips Lip Scrub
rated 1 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:39:00 PM

I had read in a magazine about how great these scrubs were and fell for the hype, I guess. Don't get me wrong. This smells delicious!! But did little to improve my lips. Besides, I had to kind of "fake grin" to really apply and scrub my lips with this, it just felt like I was deepening my nasolabial folds the whole time holding that face. Plus most of the scrub falls onto the floor or into the sink anyway. Then you basically have to lick it off, which results in even drier lips than you started with. Definitely not worth the price. Well, realistically, I wouldn't purchase at any price. Will skip next time!!

Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt
rated 5 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:34:00 PM

Love this one! I use on both body and face without any drying issues, which surprised me given that it's salt. The liquor-y smell is fantastic! A month or so ago I started using AHA to exfoliate so I have started using this less frequently b/c I don't want to overdo it. About once or twice a week works just fine! The old St. Ives apricot scrub has been replaced.. :)

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Noubar
rated 4 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:31:00 PM

I really didn't expect to like Noubar b/c I am not crazy about nuts or coconut, and I'd never heard of vertivert oil before (the featured ingredient). I picked it up mainly to give to my parents and try a little myself, b/c my parents love them some pistachio. This smells surprisingly fresh and comforting. My dad did complain to me that he did not like that peanuts come out of the bar in your shower, requiring some post-shower cleanup. This isn't a huge deal for me though! A nice surprise, this noubar.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Sexy Peel Soap
rated 2 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:26:00 PM

I got a generous sample of this from the SA in store. It was just a way too candy-orangey smell which is not for me. This is unusually b/c I am a sucker for fresh, crisp citrus scents. This one was just too sugary-sweet, not fresh at all. This soap also dried up and cracked very quickly in my shower. :( I love LUSH, just not a fan of this one.

Scrubs -LUSH - Stepping Stone
rated 2 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:21:00 PM

The smell of this is absolutely fantastic... thus my purchase. I tried to use this on wet bath-soaked feet as a scrub, and it was virtually melting away on contact. I really didn't feel like it was scrubbing anything. In fact, the body sugar scrubs are WAY more scrubby than their foot scrub. This I don't understand. I might just get one to toss in the glove compartment as a car air freshener b/c the lemongrass smell is amazing. The product just doesn't do much!

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Dream Cream
rated 2 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:16:00 PM

I have eczema so after reading many flattering reviews here, I gave it a shot. It really didn't help as far as eczema, and for my dry skin, I prefer some drugstore options over this one. The smell is a pretty strong lavender-y herbal one which I don't love... But I don't totally hate either. For the price, I'm not willing to repurchase this rather average cream.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Ambrosia
rated 2 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:12:00 PM

I got some on the suggestion of the SA who said it may help post-shave because my legs are always itching and burning afterward. I tried it and really noticed no difference. I gave the rest to DH for him to try out as a shaving cream. He's also underimpressed with this one and is still using his Gillette preferentially...

Fragrances -LUSH - Karma Solid Fragrance
rated 5 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:09:00 PM

Love this!! I think it's a little less potent than the liquid versions of this one (and you're less apt to go wild with it when you're dabbing on a solid). I am mindful that this scent - orangey, patchouli, incense-y goodness - is not for everyone. DH doesn't really like it, but he puts on a happy face b/c he knows I just love it. I try to keep this one light on the application as I know it's a really unique smell that people either love or hate. But really, this smell is awesome. If you've ever walked by a LUSH store, this is the scent the predominates and escapes into the surrounding mall. Just heavenly!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Karma Bubble Bar
rated 5 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:05:00 PM

I think this and Blue Skies are neck and neck for my very favorite bubble bar. I buy everything Karma because I love that spicy orangey-patchouli smell. I used half a bar for a bath, and I had no problem with the bubbling. I feel soft after a soak with Karma, and the smell lingers for a few hours. It's divine! Only trouble is that DH is not a huge fan of this one, but he doesn't fuss much. :) If you love the smell like I do, slice off a small piece and stick it in your car as a freshener. This works extra well in hot weather!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - Blue Skies bubble bar
rated 5 of 5
alt629 12/30/2010 8:01:00 PM

YUM!! This smells so darn good. LUSH says it's frankincense and patchouli, but it's not an over-the-top smell. I usually cut in half for one bath, and that is plenty. I love the blue water and the tons of bubbles. When I come out of a Blue Skies bath, I feel so soft, and the delicious smell lingers for a few hours after a good soak. This is definitely a LUSH favorite!!
