Conditioner -Pantene - Pro-V Restoratives Time Renewal Conditioner
alriester 1/1/2009 2:06:00 PM
I admit I am a hair product snob & am avidly devoted to Kerastase which is really pricey. I've been trying to stretch our dollars further, so I gave this product a try (ok, the salon was closed, and I was out, and therefore desperate.) I don't think you'll notice a difference after 1 or 2 uses, but maybe after the 3rd or 4th use. I have thick hair that I highlight and flat iron, and the product did bring moisture back substantially. I alternate it with my Kerastase products, and even better: I dilute the Pantene in a spray bottle (1 part conditioner to 3 parts water) and use it as a leave in conditioner daily. It's fabulous, protects my hair (some) with the daily flat ironing, acts like a straightening product, and really inexpensive. For the price, you can't beat it.

Masks -Arbonne - Thermal Infusion Enzyme Mask
alriester 2/15/2006 10:00:00 AM
I began a chemical peel process at the dermatologist. $800 later, my first of four treatments (they do the treatment on 4 areas of your face on seperate occasions.) the treatment was SOO painful, and my forehead looked like i'd been smacked with a very serious hot iron for about a week. I was so upset I had to go back for more. Then we attended an Arbonne party, and the consultant recommended the Thermal Fusion mask. I have used it 3 times a week, and it is amazing - if it were twice as much, THREE times as much, I would buy it. My best friend has terrible acne, used Accutane, and she now uses the mask 4 - 5 times a week. totally works. I will say use it at night. Your face is red for about 30 minutes to an hour. I have really sensitive skin, and though my face was hot, it was not at all burning or uncomfortable. But DO NOT use it before work. Use it at night before bed, then by morning there is no redness.

Toners -Arbonne - NutriMinC RE9 REstoring Mist Balancing Toner
alriester 1/31/2006 12:07:00 PM
I have never felt toner is necessary. I have combination skin, so toner had to always be used sparingly in T-Zone - it dried the other areas out too much. This is the first time I have been addicted to toner! I can spread this one over my entire face, and it is such a nice feeling right after the shower. The bottle lasts about 3 months, so this is a great price for it to last that long (and using generously twice a day.) Also feels good when it's hot - nice and cool on face. Highly recommend.

Cleansers -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Green Tea Cleansing Bar [DISCONTINUED]
alriester 7/14/2005 10:12:00 AM
You will definitely notice a difference if you switch to this cleansing bar. It is soapless and now comes with the larger face sponge (used to come with the smaller sponge.) I started with the Green Tea bar, but since using MUAC peels, I have switched to the Shea Butter. Both bars are great. Use Green Tea if you have oily skin. Use Shea Butter for dry or combo skin. Love the face sponge.

Masks -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 30% Glycolic Acid Home Chemical Peel Kit
alriester 7/14/2005 10:07:00 AM
This is a great at-home peel. If you are new to peels (as I was,) and hesitant of the spa peel (for fear of the price and intensity of the peel,) this is for you. I have sensitive skin (pale, freckles, combination skin) and am 35 - starting to see the first signs of age spots, wrinkles, uneven tone (though most people wouldn't see this, I do.) I bought the second to largest bottle, and 8 months later I am almost ready to purchase another bottle - mostly because the prep solution is almost out. I have more of the peel serum. My advice is to start slowly. Use it 2 - 3 times a week. Start at 1 minute, then work up 1 minute increments probably every 3rd use. The first peels you may not notice much, but trust me, it's working. And your skin is getting used to it. You will find what amount works for you. For me it is 4 minutes, but my skin can be a bit sensitive. When you get to the higher minutes, you will notice peeling for a couple of days (not horribly visible to others, but probably only to you.) Be sure to keep using the soap they send with it. You may also want to buy their larger bar for $10 - - it is very worth it. It is "soapless" soap, and I am hooked. Now that I am almost finished with this bottle, I will probably graduate to the next strongest peel. Also, I was hesitant about this, so i emailed them and the owner emailed me back with good advice and recommendations. She was very helpful.

Masks -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 40% Lactic Acid Peel

I have sensitive, combination skin - very pale with freckles (IRISH!) I didn't notice a lot of change the first 2 times I used the product, but I vowed to stick with it (got the medium size bottle.) I used it Sundays and Wednesdays religiously - after 4 - 5 times, I really noticed a difference and now I am hooked. I have a couple of freckles that are turning into what appear to be age spots, so I may move to a small bottle for this stubborn little patch. I highly recommend it. I worked up to 4 minutes with this mask - trust me, start at 1 minute and up it every week. Leaving it on for too long is not worth the discomfort the next day. I only really peeled at first (to the point of being noticeable.) The non-soap green tea bar is included, and I loved it so much I bought 2 bars on their website. Good products - you'll pay $100+ per session at a spa for this treatment....

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Super Skinny Serum
alriester 10/12/2004 9:38:00 AM
Great for thick hair. I swear by it. I have that in between texture - any given day it could be curly or straight, but most days it is somewhere in between, which in New Orleans humidity can get frizzy. Since my hair dresser recommended it (she uses it too) the frizzies are gone.

Treatments -Kerastase - Masquintense
alriester 10/12/2004 9:37:00 AM
I have dry thick (Thick!) hair & have tried everything. The Masquintense Cheveux Epais treatment is the best treatment I have ever come across. A bit pricey at $37 per jar, and very hard to find in some cities. On the weekends, I leave my hair wet after a shower and put this conditioner in while working in the yard. Since using it, my hair has returned to soft/shiny like my teenage years and I get tons of compliments on my hair. Highly recommend it.
