Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
allison41 3/27/2012 9:48:00 PM
This is a great concealer! I've tried a ton of them (high end and drugstore) and this one works really well- plus it's only $6! I use it under my eyes and a little goes a long way! It can definitely get cakey if you use too much since it is so heavy duty. Mixing it with a little moisturizer works well too. The only con I can think of is that it only comes in 3 shades, so it's definitely not going to work for all skin tones, unfortunately. Overall, I like it and will definitely repurchase!

Primer/ Corrector -Revlon - PhotoReady Perfecting Primer (color 001)
allison41 3/25/2012 3:07:00 PM
Love this primer! I used it after my moisturizer and before foundation. Loved the way it made my skin look. It gave me a beautiful matte finish and my makeup went on better over this. I would also use this on its own with no makeup. Love the pump bottle, and a little goes a long way with this. I got it for around $10 at Ulta (with a coupon) and would definitely repurchase. Give it a try :D

Foundations -Cover Girl - Natureluxe Liquid Silk Foundation
allison41 3/22/2012 10:06:00 PM
I liked this and had originally purchased it months ago in the shade Flax which turned out to be just a little bit too dark for me. I used it from time to time but recently wanted to get back into using it again so I picked up the shade Alabaster, which was a better match for me. This is a very lightweight foundation and in my opinion does not cover very much at all. I don't even think it would be buildable. Also, I don't know if I got a bad tube of this or what but it made my skin burn all day and made me break out. I have no idea why, as my first go with this caused no issues and I've never had any skin problems from using different Cover Girl foundations in the past. So I don't think I'll be buying this one again, but I would recommend it if you want a LIGHT foundation that barely covers your skin...but if your skin tends to get oily throughout the day like mine, I'd skip this.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Dream Matte Pressed Powder
allison41 3/22/2012 4:46:00 PM
I bought this on a whim in Target when I remembered reading several good reviews about it and figured I'd give it a try. My skin is not SUPER oily but it definitely can get shiny throughout the day. First of all, this product only comes in 4 shades I think. Wtf. I know it is not meant to be like a full coverage foundation powder but seriously only 4? I bought the lightest shade since I am pretty fair and the "medium" shade seemed like it would be too dark. Well when I applied it, it looked like I dusted my face with flour. Totally chalky. It seemed alright after I blended it out a bit but the whole day I just felt it sitting on my face and didn't seem to do such a great job of controlling oil. Also, the packaging is seriously annoying. Overall, I wanted to love it but there are definitely other better drugstore powders out there and I won't be repurchasing this one since it really did not work for me.

Liquid -BeneFit Cosmetics - "Hello Flawless!" Oxygen Wow
allison41 3/16/2012 6:57:00 PM
I liked this foundation but unfortunately the lightest shade (Ivory) was WAY too yellow based for my cool toned, fair skin. I loved the packaging but the foundation itself was slightly runny...and a little definitely goes a long way. It's not that difficult to work with once you blend it in though. Overall, it wasn't a bad product but, again, the shade was terrible for my skin tone and just didn't work for me. I would not repurchase this unless Benefit comes out with some new shades...only 9 for an entire foundation line is certainly not enough.

Polishes -OPI - Pink Friday
allison41 3/8/2012 11:16:00 PM
Just picked this up and did my nails. This is a really pretty creamy pink...but it was SO streaky. I really didn't love the application, though the color is very pretty.

Polishes -Essie - Turquoise & Caicos (Resort 2010)
allison41 3/2/2012 1:53:00 AM
This is SUCH a pretty Tiffany blue! One of my favorite Essie polishes, for sure. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because it can be streaky and can take several coats (probably 3?) before it's opaque. Aside from that, I love it for spring and think it is a flattering and unique color for many skin tones.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverPure Sulfate-free Color Care Shampoo
allison41 3/2/2012 1:37:00 AM
I've heard how sulfate free shampoos are great for colored hair so I figured I'd give this a try, but I kinda hated it. It didn't smell all that great and made my hair super dry (I could barely get a comb through parts of it after my shower- and this is after using conditioner AND a leave in smoothing cream) My hair can tend to be on the oily side and I really didn't feel like this got it very clean and felt like it didn't rinse out all the way. It did, however, lather more than I expected it to though. Won't be using this again.

Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation
allison41 2/13/2012 6:00:00 PM
Yuck. I bought this and returned it. Normally I love Cover Girl foundations (TruBlend & NatureLuxe are both great) so I was surprised that this stuff smelled SO awful and made my face look unbelievably oily after about an hour. It seemed cakey as well. I couldn't wait to take it off. Plus $15.50 for Cover Girl is ridiculous...If I'm spending that much I want to love the product. Anyway, won't be repurchasing this one, it just didn't work for me.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
allison41 2/13/2012 5:48:00 PM
FINALLY was able to pick a couple of these up, they've been out of stock everywhere! I got Gumdrop and Lollipop and love them both. Gumdrop is a shimmery lilac. I didn't own any lilac lip products and this looks pretty on. My lips are very pigmented and it's a nice sheer color. Lollipop is a bright fuchsia and I LOVE it on, such a pretty color and it has a slight shimmer as well. They're very moisturizing and I'd definitely repurchase.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush
allison41 2/13/2012 5:32:00 PM
I wasn't too sure about this after hearing a lot of negative reviews, but I really wanted to try it out anyway (if nothing else then to feel the texture lol) I picked it up in Fresh Pink and Rose Petal and I really like them! Fresh Pink is a true bright(ish) pink and Rose Petal is really more on the peachy pink side. I wanted to get Peach Satin but I think it would have been too dark for my skin tone. I am pretty fair and these show up well on my skin after I swipe them a few times, I think if you have a darker complexion they may not work as well--or you'd have to spend a long time swiping the product to get any to show up as they are so sheer. Overall these are pretty good. Normally I prefer mac, nars, benefit blushes to drugstore brands...but I could see myself repurchasing this if they come out with new colors down the line.

Treatments -Dove - Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Leave-in Smoothing Cream
allison41 1/23/2012 1:22:00 AM
This made my hair really soft, shiny, and a little more manageable. I can't say it did *that* much for frizzy-ness or fly aways but I did notice some improvement. My hair can tend to be on the oily side so I really liked that this didn't make it greasy or weigh it down at all. I worked a small amount through damp, towel dried hair. It smells really good too...though if you don't care for a stronger scent in your hair products, you may want to stay away from this. Overall, this is a pretty good leave in cream and does a good job for the price. I'd repurchase.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream (Night)
allison41 11/9/2011 3:37:00 PM
wow! i recently started using this moisturizer and i love it! i just turned 30 and have started some preventative measures on my skin. this is very lightweight and not greasy at all, though it moisturizes very well. it is unscented and smooths into the skin very easily. the box warned of redness or irritation that could possibly occur with using this product. i have sensitive skin so i wasn't sure how it would react to a product with retinol. i had no adverse reaction to this and will continue to use it.

Powder -Cover Girl - Simply Powder Foundation
allison41 11/8/2011 5:44:00 PM
Normally I use CG pocket powder (the oval one in the blue packaging, sometimes it's hard to find) I was looking to try a new powder (since Target was sold out of my shade in the powder I usually use) and came across this one. I figured I'd give it a try since It wasn't too expensive, I think I paid around $6.50 or $7 for it. I LOVE it! I've tried several drugstore and high end brands and I think this works just as well or better as mac studio fix- and let's face it, it's hard to spend $25+ on a powder. My skin can tend to get shiny throughout the day but this really helped control the oil for hours. It covers pretty well and was not cakey. Think I have a new CG favorite! The only things I do NOT like about this was having to put the compact together, kinda confusing but once you figure it out, it's fine. I also do not like that the sponge doesn't have a separate compartment- it just sits on the product. Overall this is a great, affordable powder foundation that works well.
