Blush -Maybelline - Dream Bouncy Blush

I like that this blush has zero glitter/sparkle/shimmer. It goes a long way to making the blush look "natural" on the face. I hate Maybelline's Dream Mousse Blush—it is so full of big sparkles or glitter particles, I can't understand how anyone would want to wear it. But back to this blush, the colour selections look awesome in the package (I have Fresh Pink [which is an awesome natural rosy pink shade), Pink Frosting, and Pink Plum). Applying the product is a problem, as other reviewers have noted. The consistency is weird because it's not very creamy and it takes some effort to blend it on the cheeks. However, if you work at it, the overall effect is pretty.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Excellence Creme Blonde Supreme in Lightest Ash Blonde

(This review is for the shade which is called Ultra Light Ash Blonde [AA01] from the Excellence Pro-Keratine collection.) Oh my god, this colour turned my light blonde hair (which is dyed to this colour, but naturally dark blonde) BLUE.... I almost had a heart attack when I looked in the mirror. I've been "experimenting" with colours from L'Oreal the past few months and have been overall very happy with the results. I don't necessarily blame the product, although I did follow the instructions for root touch-up and colour refresh for my lengths. I think the problem was that my hair was already so light that the product had nothing to lift and so turned blue. For anyone who has a similar experience, I washed my hair 3 times in a row, conditioned and then completely saturated it in lemon juice. A lot of the blue washed out after shampooing but it was still noticeably grey, so I turned to the lemon juice which oddly helps tone hair colour that is too ash. This would probably be a great colour for light virgin hair or for somone who has dyed medium-to-dark hair, but ladies who have ultra light coloured tresses already, steer clear!

Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation
rated 3 of 5

I bought this in 115 because the store didn't carry 110, but it still fit my pale skin very well. I have normal to dry skin and this foundation imparted the perfect amount of dewiness. I have only used it a few times, but for now I am sold. I didn't notice it rubbing off like the other reviewers have. Even though you can apply it with your fingers, I used a stippling brush and it gave a fabulous finish. I did follow up with a light translucent power to set it though. It doesn't give a crazy amount of coverage, but for me, that's ok. I want my skin to breathe and if I have blemishes I need to cover, then I use concealer. Compared to the Dream Matte line, the colour options are far better for those on the pale end (Dream Matte Mousse in Ivory is seriously a joke—it looks dark and orangy on my skin). For those looking to create a youthful and radiant look, this is the product. With spring around the corner, this foundation is an ideal choice.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5

I love this cleanser! Whenever I go overboard on my skincare routine and over-exfoliate or dry out my face, this product helps restore my skin and replenish lost moisture. The foam is extremely gentle and soothing, but it was just as good at removing makeup and dirt as the other cleansers I use. Although it's not meant to clear up acne, it certainly doesn't clog pores or cause breakouts. I highly recommend all ladies kept this cleanser on hand for those times when you need to give your skin a chance to relax and rejuvenate itself.

Lipstick -Revlon - Superlustrous Lipstick - Temptress (LE)
rated 5 of 5

This is the prettiest shade of pink (it made my lips look like a fresh rosebud). Because it is so sheer, the lipstick does not cake or dry out the lips, and maybe it is even a bit moisturizing. I love that it is a natural and believable pink—not too frosty, pale, or bright. One of the top 2012 makeup looks is rosebud lips and this lipstick is perfect for achieving that look. I can see it being too frosty for some skin tones, but for those who already have moderately pigmented lips, it complements the natural hue just enough. This is the first drugstore lipstick I've purchased in a long time and I'm so glad I took a chance because the price can't be beat for the results. One issue I had was with the packaging—the lid on my tube will not stay on probably and it keeps falling off. This isn't a problem until I tote it around in my purse.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup
rated 3 of 5
aliyurg 2/17/2012 1:49:00 AM

I really wanted to like this foundation. The shade was a perfect fit for my pale and cool skin. The consistency was good, although the dispenser was tricky to master. I noticed that the less product you use, the better it looked and set on the face. Too much and it has the potential to cake and look mask-like. I have normal skin with dry areas, so the dewiness this mousse gave was perfect and really pretty. However, as the other reviewers have said, this is chalked full of really obvious glitter. Seeing my skin for the first time in natural light was a completely unpleasant shock. This foundation would be almost perfect in my books if it weren't so glittery. I hope that Revlon changes the formula in the future to make it glitter-free.

Scrubs -Ole Henriksen - Walnut Complexion Scrub
rated 4 of 5
aliyurg 2/17/2012 1:44:00 AM

As an exfoliate, this product really does the job. After using this scrub for the first time, my skin was left glowing and feeling baby soft. Even though the other reviewers disliked the packaging, I felt the pot's design was functional and cute. My main qualm with this scrub is about the walnut granules, although I should say that the walnut is what makes this product so superb as an exfoliator. No matter how much I rinsed my face (with a cloth, sponge or just my hands), I could not remove all the tiny walnut particles. They went EVERYWHERE and were very hard to rinse from my face, my hairline, and from the sink. I even had problems in the shower. Although it hasn't happened yet, getting one of these granules in my eye would extremely painful and even dangerous to the cornea. That being said, walnut is very effective for removing dead skin and impurities. This is a fail-proof product that actually leaves the skin radiant and glowing. Because of that, I would repurchase. I think I paid about $30 CAN at Sephora and it's not an unreasonable price for the results.
