Eyeliner -MAC - Liquidlast Liner - Point Black

I'm kind of on the fence about this one. I'm a long term user of liquid liner and I have to say the staying power on this one is legendary. I have really oily eyelids and this does stay put. The pigment, as most other users have stated, is excellent. On the downside and the main reason I'm not sure I'll repurchase (though I have said yes because I know I probably will!!) is the length of time it takes to dry. Honestly - its ages, like at least a good 5 mins. If you chance it too quickly it transfers ontoyour upper eyelid - grrrr. For newer users to liquid liner, it's not an easy starting point. It doesnt flow easily and the brush isn't the easiest I've had to work with,I think you need to be fairly expert in your application.

BB Cream -Tarte - BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen
rated 4 of 5

Having read such amazing reviews about this product, I went to great lengths to track one down - these are not readily available in the UK and US sites won't ship at all. I ended up obtaining it from a lovely swapper in Canada. Unfortunately I wasn't nearly as impressed as I had hoped. I have given it reasonable lippies as I don't think it's "bad" exactly buy in all honesty - no better than MAC tinted moisturiser which is much cheaper and easily obtained. The covereage is light as you would expect from a BB/primer and has a silky feel as applied. I don't think the staying power is huge but I've only worn it for 3 days and work lighting is particularly harsh. I will use it up but unlikely to repurchase.

Skincare - Face -MAC - Blot Film

I literally love these, one of the few products that I will buy again and again. I used to buy the body shop ones years ago but found the powder they had on them rather annoying. These do not have powder but remove all shine and restore my face to looking less oil slick and more human even in very hot weather. I took these on holiday to Florida and found they did the job just as we'll there as in the uk. Only complaint I have is that it's difficult to get just one sheet out at a time. Regardless, I will continue to purchase.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear Makeup (new - 2011 version)
rated 4 of 5

I purchased this foundation as heading into winter, I didn't think my mac TM would cut it much longer!! I like this and will happily use it all up but I'm on the fence about whether I'd buy it again. It's not too heavy and gives decent coverage and I find people compliment me on my skin when wearing it but I can't he but prefer TM to true foundation! It's generally given good reviews for dry skin (which I have) but I found I still needed my Laura mercier moisturising primer underneath to keep it hydrated enough. A like but not a love if I'm honest, I think the HG quest continues!

Highlighters -NARS - Illuminator in Laguna
rated 4 of 5
alix1979 12/3/2012 4:26:00 PM

Was talked into purchasing this in Space NK when I went to buy the Nars TM. Was a bit expensive I though but it turns out I really like it. It looks terribly dark in the bottle but goes on very sheer. It really warms the complexion and had a nice sparkle. I used it a great deal on holiday when I had a tan but still use occasionally in winter on night to liven up my pale face! I do think its a little over priced but you use so little each time, it will last a long time.

Eyeliner -Bourjois - Liner Pinceau in Noir
rated 5 of 5
alix1979 12/3/2012 4:22:00 PM

I used to buy this all the time when I was younger and bought high street grade products. As I graduated to HE products, I left it behind and bought gel liners, mac liquid last etc. on a whim I bought it again and remembered how easy it was to use. Lovely fine brush, smooth on and dried quickly. Lasted decently, certainly as well as mac and all round good performance for a bargain price. Will continue to buy again and again.

Powder -Laura Mercier - Foundation Powder
rated 4 of 5
alix1979 3/7/2012 9:06:00 AM

I tried this as the next selection in my ongong quest for a foundation/tinted moisturiser which made my skin look great. All in all, Im pretty pleased with it. My skin is a total pain, its not spotty - its a bit pinky/big pores/shiney nose and dry. So I was looking for something which didnt emphasise these issues. I was sold it with the hydrating primer (so quite an expensive purchase together £61) but I was immediately pleased with it. The first day I wore it - I LOVED it. My skin didnt flake, my nose didnt shine, it looked like I had perfect skin but no make up on. Well although its never performed quite as well as well as the first day (or it would have got the 5 lippies) I still like it a great deal, certainly the best product Ive used in years. Im a little unsure if it could be better though, as the hydratng primer turned to water and I had to return, the sales ass confirmed it had been a bad batch and offered me the radiant primer instead. I think if I had the hydrating primer - this may get a full 5 out of 5!

Lipstick -Clinique - Chubby Stick (all shades)
rated 4 of 5
alix1979 3/7/2012 8:59:00 AM

I had this as a Christmas gift in Chunky Cherry. I heard rave reviews, hence me asking for one as a gift! I like this just fine, which is why I gave it 4 lippies, though in truth its more like a 3.5. Its a little moisturising, a little colour and its nice too use. In essence, its a just a coloured lip balm, so I guess a little overpriced for that?! I mostly use it for work, as I think glodd can be a little overkill and lippie tends not to be moist enough for me. I wouldnt pay full price for one having experienced it but I wouldnt be sad if I got another as a gift - Im pretty ambivalent about it if Im honest.

Eyeliner -Christian Dior - Kohl Pencil
rated 2 of 5
alix1979 2/26/2012 10:45:00 AM

This is one of the worst eyeliners that I have bought. It's hard, really drags/pulls at the skin when trying to apply. I had the noir black and it was a nice deep colour, which is about its best feature. I've sharpened several times, thinking maybe it was the first layer but no - just a bit painful to apply. I marked the packaging down also because the lid keeps coming off the pencil in my make up bag. Wouldn't purchase again and have given up using it even though it's hardly used.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Cream shaper for eyes black diamond
rated 4 of 5
alix1979 2/25/2012 7:43:00 AM

I received this eyeliner as part of the "high impact lashes" package so I didn't really mean to buy it, I only really meant to buy the mascara! However, I was pleasantly surprised with this. It went on really gently and smoothly, none of the tugging or sharpness I feel with my Dior one. I like the slightly glittery effect and this isn't a harsh black at all. I keep this sharpened quite well and I'm pleased with it. It does smudge a bit but some people like that, so depends on whether you're after a perfect line or a little smudgy liner.

Tinted Moisturizer -Clinique - Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF15
rated 3 of 5
alix1979 2/25/2012 7:32:00 AM

I purchased this tinted moisturiser as an everyday product, just to even out my skin / apply a light layer of foundation type product for work. Ive got fairly dry skin and thought the moisture surge description coupled with it being a tinted moisturiser would help with this - it didn't really though. It wasn't terrible but nowhere near great. Several years ago I bought the "almost makeup" and liked this better than the current incarnation. I used in conjunction with the "stay matte" powder to alleviate the shine but found it gave a funny sort of pinky patchy coverage. I've read in other peoples reviews about the funny pinky colour it seems to bring out and I concur. It's ok and not terrible, more comparabie with revlon/max factor type profducts but with MAC type prices. I wouldn't buy again.

Tinted Moisturizer -MAC - Studio Moisture Tint SPF15
rated 4 of 5
alix1979 2/25/2012 7:14:00 AM

I liked this tinted moisturiser, wouldn't rave about it being the best product ever but I liked it and it pretty much did what it was supposed to. It was a reasonable priced and went on fine. This is a pretty light coverage as you would expect and looked good on a summer day, not like you had a mask on/ridiculously made up. I bought this specifically for holiday for the SPF and to try and look reasonable while out in the hot sun. The SPF did a fair job, but I did end up a little burnt a couple of times - though pinky rather than lobster and peely!! I think I should have been reapplying this throughout the day to solve this. I did end up quite shiny, I'm never sure if you can blot/put powder over these and not affect the SPF?! Hmmm something to investigate I think... This is better by miles than the Benefit You Rebel which is the only other tinted moisturiser that I've used. I would consider buying this again for deffo but plan to try the NARS one next, then Laura Mercier. Then I'll be buying the best out of these.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
rated 4 of 5
alix1979 2/25/2012 6:43:00 AM

I want to love this but just not sure! It looks great when it's first on but definitely has a yellow undertone which I'm not convinced about. Bought this in SpaceNK when newly back from holiday and was convinced that my pink skin tone (which I've always had) is actually a yellow undertone - hmmm. That's more about SpaceNK being pushy than the foundation though!! It gives good coverage, I'd definitely say its more an evening out coverage than a day-to-day work type. It's quite heavy and feels difficult to blend but does look good once you've managed to bend it in. It also seemed to exhasibate my dry skin. I've tried Benefit's That Gal as a primer under this as I was informed this was a really moisturising primer that should help with this, it was an awful combo!! Really slidey and patchy. I'm going to try it with the Laura Mercier primer next and see if that helps. In all - good but not as great as I hoped for the price and as many have commented before me - the lack of pump is just annoying.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
rated 3 of 5
alix1979 2/25/2012 6:31:00 AM

I bought this mascara on a whim after promising myself I wouldn't buy anymore Benefit products. I love the names, packaging etc by Benefit but find the products just never live up to the promises/descriptions. Point proven once again by this mascara. It wasn't awful, hence the 3 Lippys but just not good enough for the price or to buy again. It goes on nicely, smoothly but leaves big black smudges under my eyes as the day wears on. I've tried with varying eyeliners (and without any) to ensure I wasn't blaming this unfairly but no - it just does leave that raccoon look. It also doesn't add volume it that's what you're looking for just coats reasonably nicely and maybe a little length. Wouldn't buy again.
