BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream

I'm not much of a drug store brand buyer. Having bought the $40 Smashbox BB cream, I like this one much better! I went with light medium (I'm fair, NC20) and I'm glad I did, rather than the light. Remember, this is NOT a foundation, so don't compare it to a foundation. It will not fully cover as a foundation will. It's a little creamier and a little thicker than a tinted moisturizer. For everyday use that's not cakey or overdone, this is perfect! For everyday use: dropping kids off at school, going to grocery store, trips to the mall this is WONDERFUL. It takes 30 seconds to apply, applies evenly and does a fantastic job of blending into the skin. It covers minor skin issues, makes the skin look even, and makes the skin look fresh and glowey. It doesn't look like I spent 4 minutes putting on a heavier foundation... it just looks like I have really good, clear, healthy skin. best of all, it's an SPF30 so you skin stays protected. During the day I tend to still get a bit shiny with this, so when I notice it (only once per day) I just dab on a bit of powder on my nose. All in all- use an Ulta coupon or take advantage of the Maybeliene sales that Ulta does and buy this! Worse case scenario- Ulta returns everything!

Moisturizers -Dermalogica - Sheer Tint Moisturiser SPF 15
rated 4 of 5

I really like this product. It's light, and not greasy like other SPF moisturizers that I've used. I'm very fair (NC20, MUF120) and the light color is perfect for me. It doesn't "cover" anything, but gives a nice glow. (i NEED the coverage, so i usually use foundation over the top) I only wish it had more SPF in it, I feel that come summer time the 15 won't be enough. That's why I'm giving it a 4. Please dermalogica, make this in an SPF30!!

blah, blah and more blah! The "theory" sounds great, right? Natural, smells nice, but I had the WORST reaction to this stuff. Within an hour or two my skin feels like it's on fire, is bright red, and itchy. I tried it about 4 years ago, and then I decided to try it ONE more time. BAD idea, same reaction! Blah! Also, who has time to wait for it to come in the mail! Huge con!

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Ultra Calming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
alikatgrrl 3/11/2012 9:37:00 PM

SKIN: combination, shiny/oily nose, sometimes dry patches, acne scars, hormonal acne along the jawline. (I've had too much peeling from retinol products and ProActiv or clinique #3) I went into Ulta in hopes of finding something that would finally WORK for me. After talking to both the estecitian and the prestige line manager, they came up with products for me: all dermalogica: the pre-cleanse, the ultra calming line, and spot treatment for acne, tinted moisturizer with SPF. I don't really think I have "sensitive" skin, but the ladies assured me that this would help. This cleanser is a bit weird. It's a creamy, gel-ish, almost lotion feel. It's weird to get used it. It doesn't suds at all. (I use with clarisonic) It honestly takes a few uses to get used to. However, It makes my face feel amazingly clean and refreshed. (i use the pre cleanse before this wash) It also feels soft and never stripped of moisture like some other cleansers made me feel (proactive, boscia, clinique) I used the whole "kit" for a few days, but then realized that I really only needed the cleanser. The other products are great (and not on MUA to review!!! :() but this did such amazing things for my skin that I didn't need the others!

Cleansers -Dermalogica - PreCleanse
rated 5 of 5

I typically wouldn't buy an "oil based cleanser"... but a kind lady at Ulta recommended I use this before using the ultra calming cleanser (that will be another review- 5!) I have combo skin- sometimes dry patches, shiny nose, acne scars, and hormonal acne along the jawline. These reasons alone make me cringe at the thought of oil cleanser. I honestly bought this knowing that I could (and probably would) return it. The "thought" made me think it wouldn't work out for my skin. BOY WAS I WRONG! The first time I used it, it was a little odd to rub oil into your skin (dry hands and dry skin)... but the massage felt great, and the scent is pleasant. I rubbed it all over my eyes, and it never stung. When I added water it became milky and I could literally see makeup dripping off my face (I made a huge mess of my bathroom counter!). I rinsed it off with warm water. My face immediately felt soft, and SO clean! I know that it cleaned my makeup off amazingly, because after using this, I used the ultra calming cleanser with my clarisonic and my bristles of the clarisonic were CLEAN without a trace of makeup on them) I have not had any reactions to this, and I truly feel that my face is cleaner after using my face wash. The bottle is pretty large, and will last a LONG time. I only use about a dime to penny size of product in my palm and it takes off: primer, foundation, powder, blush, mascara, eye liner, and eyeshadows. Give it a try!

Classic bottle, timeless clean fresh scent, heaven in a bottle. I love this fragrance. It's light enough for me to wear around my two children (ages 1 & 3) yet strong enough for me to wear out and feel put together.

I have the old style (bought in 2007) and it's still working great. I use it for everything! -bare minerals -PUR minerals -MAC studio fix -MAC studio tech -liquid foundation -other powders I am very diligent about cleaning this with a mild shampoo about once a week, and it's STILL going strong and not loosing any bristles. It's super super soft to the touch and works great.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Mia2
rated 5 of 5

YES, YES, YES. This is the most amazing gadget you will ever buy! I'm sure the Mia would work just the same (without the timer, of course) but I'm in love! I've always had issues with acne, and that has NOT gone away... but my face has never ever been smoother or cleaner. I have had this for exactly 5 weeks and never once missed a morning or night. I use the regular brush head, and have had no issues with it. I have normal/combo skin with larger pores on the nose.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Vanilla

By far, such an easy go-to shadow that looks awesome and lasts FOREVER. Seriously, I use this occasionally (maybe 1-2 times per week as an all over shadow color, or highlighter) and I bought it in 2008.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
rated 2 of 5
alikatgrrl 3/4/2012 7:10:00 PM

I don't have awful acne. I don't have clear skin either. I break out along the jaw line constantly (maybe 3-5 blemishes at a time- mostly hormonally related... or so I think) I was frustrated with other products (believe me, I've tried EVERYTHING... (proactiv in 2007 AND 2009, and just returned this batch in 2012) so while at the mall I felt the sudden urge to buy this magical stuff that works for all the celebrities. I used it for about 5 days. Honestly, my breakouts did clear up a little bit... and that, I liked. BUT, after 3-4 days my skin felt super tight and started to burn. In areas: under eye, around the mouth, and sides of the eyes turned red and patchy and are burning to the touch. I have not used it in over 24 hours and my skin is still burning. (I was using both their tinted moisturizer, and green tea moisturizer with the 3 step) After this happening, I researched the product a little *more* and read how awful this stuff can really be for the skin. I figured it'd be best for my skin to go with something a little more natural that didn't burn.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5
alikatgrrl 3/4/2012 7:04:00 PM

Hands down, I think this is the best eye shadow primer. I only use it when I need my eye makeup to STAY, and I've had no problems with it at all. The applicator is a little odd to apply to just the eyelid itself, so I dab it on my finger and apply it with my finger.

Lotions/ Creams -Cerave - Moisturizing Cream
rated 4 of 5
alikatgrrl 3/4/2012 7:03:00 PM

This is a great moisturizer! I love using it on my body when I'm dry, but I can't use it on my face. I'm pretty sensitive to moisturizers, and this broke me out pretty bad. It's too bad because I really wanted to use it on my face at night, instead of having to spend a lot on a different moisturizer. I rated a 4, because on the rest of my body, it's my go-to!

BB Cream -Boscia - BB Cream SPF 27 PA++
rated 2 of 5
alikatgrrl 3/4/2012 7:00:00 PM

I'm fair (NC20) and this cream is SO DARK when coming straight out the bottle. It does blend decently into the skin, but for me was just a tad too dark. If you use it without a primer, it's pretty hard to get to rub in. It does have a glittery hue. Way too overpriced, in my opinion! I didn't feel like it covered much up.
