Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Asia

Beautiful color but it was drying for me and actually accentuates the tiny lines on my lips so I don't think I can wear it on its own. I opt for putting some Avon 24K lipgloss in pink (not too sure if that's the full name) and it looks very lovely and airy. I can actually wear it with smokey eyes without looking as if someone drained the life out of me. The colour is nice pinkish-brown mauve-ish mix that looks cool toned on me. I can't say it is a very complex colour, in fact, I find it one dimensional but I see it as something that will look good on variety of skintones. I don't think this is the most flattering colour for me but when I put the lipgloss it transforms into this beautiful warm-toned neutral pink with golden flecks that is what I have been looking for. I think I would have even worn it on its own if it wasn't so drying. So I took a lippie and a half for the formula which makes it a pain for me to wear and another half for looking kind of dull on the lips (if you want a matte-looking lipstick, then ignore this).

Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15
alicehump 11/18/2012 8:56:00 AM
This is by far the best powder foundation that I have ever used. Works like a dream giving me medium coverage without looking fake or cakey. My skin is acne prone and sensitive but this stuff didn't irritate it (didn't help it either but the product is not aiming at it). I find that it somewhat controls my oily skin which is more than I expected. For performance I would give it 5 lippies but the packaging deserves 3. I decided that when I am spending on makeup I have to be happy with each aspect of it so I won't be getting this till they change the packaging. Till then I will be using liquid foundation and setting powder.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
alicehump 11/15/2012 8:13:00 AM
YES! So much better than the UD primer or the Artdeco one that didn't do anything for me. TFSI made me understand why everyone was so crazy about eyeshadow primers. Before it all seemed like a gimmick or something that works on everyone else but me. I have oily hooded lids that don't get on well with eyeshadow but with this the staying time increased from an hour to 6-8 hours. Yeah! And the packaging is much better than UD (I had the old one) or Artdeco!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
alicehump 11/15/2012 7:45:00 AM
Though my review might seem negative, it is not - 187 is a fine brush but that's it. I am not head over heels in love with it like everyone else here. It is something that I really tried to love but it ultimately failed to fulfil my expectations. Maybe I was expecting too much? Reading the reviews I was left with the impression it was something outstanding you can't really live without. It's just not that efficient - I have to spend ages to get the coverage I want and my hand kind of hurts afterwards :( I can achieve a similar look with a paddle brush if I use up the same amount of time. Why? I have acne and nothing can look airbrushed on top of that, that's why :) I also tried it for blush and bronzer and it works fine. I don't have highly pigmented blushes that work best with it so it was a bit pointless using it. I have been using it for two years now and this is all I can say - meeeh, it could have been better... I also could have saved some money.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
alicehump 11/2/2012 8:15:00 AM
It is a lovely eyeliner but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I have somewhat oily hooded eyelids but generally have no problem with eyeliners but this one smudged in no time. I guess it has something to do with my chemistry because I gave it to a friend that is similar to me and she gives it 5 stars. So my overall advice is to get it. It is good quality and reasonably priced. Chances are you will like it.

Lotions/ Creams -Nuxe - Huile Prodigieuse (Multipurpose dry oil)
alicehump 6/29/2012 1:20:00 PM
Oh, my! Such an amazing product that is really multipurpose! I was quite sceptical and always thought it was one of these overpriced over-hyped products but I couldn't be more wrong! I got a 15 ml GWP sample at the drugstore and was amazed! I was using it on my cuticles/nails, body, hair. It smells divine - like a bouquet of flowers with some monoi in it. I love it! As for the use - my nails are healthy again, my cuticles are soft, my hair is looking and feeling so much healthier than before and my knees and elbows are so so so soft! Wow! What I do is use it nightly on my hands gently massaging it in my cuticles, I rub it in my hair the night before I wash it and use it as a body oil every few days. And the best part is that it takes less than 5 minutes to dry (not sure how many minutes but it is faster than some of my lotions). And think about the price - you don't need a hair oil, cuticle oil and special lotions for knees and elbows so it is actually cheap (in Eurore at least, I have no idea how it is in the other parts of the world). So I really recommend it! Buy it or at least try it

Highlighters -Christian Dior - Shimmer Powder 002 Amber Diamond, Spring 08
alicehump 5/13/2012 9:26:00 AM
My skin is acting up a lot so till now I couldn't justify getting a more expensive highlighter and opted for drugstore ones that set in my pores, looked weird and somehow made my skin look even worse. But one day, after a particularly bad day, even bad week I thought, why not? And I got it! Oh, wow! It looks amazing, it is soooo finely milled, it looks like my actual skin is glowing and doesn't emphasize my pores and it never looks garish. I am really happy about this! But beware glitter/shimmer/shine lovers! This gives a glow that can get to show as microshimmers in the sun but that's it. Some of my friends dislike it and can't understand why I bought it because "it doesn't show up much". It works perfectly for me but I can easily see how some won't like it.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure - #85 Coquette
alicehump 5/13/2012 9:10:00 AM
Oh, this colour is amazing! Perfect for warm weather, very casual, not over the top - a perfect balance between coral and pink that is warm and yet there is something like a blue iridescence (sounds bad but it looks gorgeous). It is such a complex colour - I can't believe I didn't buy it earlier! It is a RA so the packaging is perfect, the formula is smooth and it lasts a long time BUT compared to the other RA I own Prodigious or Lover the lasting time is not that long, probably due to the lighter colour and it also has a tendency to set in a weird way when my lips aren't in perfect shape so when it is completely wiped off I still have some bright spots in the inner corners as opposed to an even stain maybe because it is a lighter texture, not so creamy as my other ones (which is better for summer, if you ask me). And yet - it is still a pretty good moisturising lipstick that looks so gorgeous on both pale and especially darker skins. So my only advice is - make sure your lips are properly exfoliated :)

Liquid -Shiseido - Perfect Refining Foundation
alicehump 3/24/2012 2:14:00 PM
I have oily skin but my main concern is to find a foundation that won't make my acne worse, have decent coverage without making me look like a painting - this foundation proved to be the answer. The lasting power and coverage is not like that of a Guerlain Parure Extreme or Revlon Colorstay but it is pretty decent and it has a huge advantage over them - it looks very natural. Really! If you have bad skin the best thing you can do is to get a medium coverage fdt and cover everything else with a good concealer - it is thousand times better than looking like a painting. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is only because the lasting power is not great on my oily skin and it's not going to work in hot humid weather but for a winter foundation it deserves 5 stars! And the packaging is wonderful - it is 0,5 oz (30 ml) which is the standard size but without a heavy and bulky bottle which makes it more compact (it fits in a kid's palm and it is very light) and cheaper (I love fancy packaging but now is not the best time for my budget to be paying for it). It has a nozzle so it's hygienic. The only bad thing is that bottle is black which means that if you are not careful you are going to end up with finger prints all over it :( But it looks very minimalistic and cool :)

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Le Absolu Creme De Brillance
alicehump 3/24/2012 1:56:00 PM
I got this in Rose Empire which is a wonderful pink that looks good on almost anyone, pairs up with smoky eye like a dream and is more of a creamy lipstick than a lip gloss. Then why only 2 lipsticks for it? Well, it has a terrible shortcoming - it gone bad after 3 months of usage! And for that price it is a huge turn off! I am not taking chances with this again - I won't purchase it again, and since I am a lipstick girl, I don't think I will be getting a gloss any time soon. It was a big disappointment!

Liquid -Clinique - Superbalanced Foundation
alicehump 1/25/2012 5:35:00 PM
I bought it because it seemed right for me and cheaper than Guerlain's PA - I have combination acne prone skin that doesn't like many brands so I was happy when I tried it and it looked right for me. Well, not really - colour range is very off, it oxidises, it requires a lot of effort to not look cakey when you apply it, it emphasizes dryness and doesn't do anything to fight shine. This pretty much killed my initial excitement but I think it is right for people who have perfect skin and want to try it out... which is kind of pointless if your skin is so perfect you can get away with a tinted moisturiser. I want to finish it up and get something else, that's it. It gets two starts for not breaking me out.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
alicehump 12/10/2011 6:10:00 PM
I got the small bottle with my Naked palette last year and so far I was hoping to see what the hype is about but I can only say - why? I have oily lids and when I read about this product I was excited to try it. First impression - it works for 4 hours which is ok for me. As for the promised vibrancy - I didn't see it but that wasn't my initial aim. But then I noticed I would get a 4-hour wear with UD's shadows BUT with the other ones that wouldn't work for me - still no change. Well, no big deal... until I noticed that if I use it more regularly I get ingrown hairs on my eyebrows. Not only this but even funky pimples that hurt. My theory is that it's the silicone doing this but I will say it for sure after I try TFSI.

Cleansers -Nuxe - REVE DE MIEL Face Gentle Cleansing Gel
alicehump 12/1/2011 3:23:00 PM
It's nice but not for me :( I initially liked it but after 2 weeks my skin got dry in places and started flaking while at the same time i got few cystic pimples :( And cystic acne is not something my skin shows as a reaction to a new product. I will try it again in the spring because during the winter my skin gets sensitive and dry-ish while oily in certain places. I am not positive about this though! EDIT: Works like a charm after I started using it again in warmer weather. Maybe my cystic pimples were due to stress? I have no idea since they continued showing for some time after I stopped using it and didn't occur again when I started using it again. My skin is combination - oily on the T zone, dry at the cheeks, sensitive, acne prone and evil so my struggle is to find something that doesn't cost a fortune, doesn't irritate it and keeps it under control and this comes at a close second to my Guerlain Secret de Purete without the hefty price tag so I will give it 4 stars now (not 5 since it is not perfect) and I will definitely buy it again as well as other products from this brand, hoping to get an even better result.

Bronzers -Chanel - Soleil Tan de Chanel - 547 Bronze Rose
alicehump 5/19/2011 7:38:00 AM
Seems like more people like this one than the corail one but I don't really understand. I tried to like this version, tried it two times and it looked ok on my skin but as a blush, not as a bronzer. I already have some redness on my cheeks so when I use it on my whole face it just looks so wrong. And I hate the icy pink stripe - so unnatural. Since bronze coral does not have it's own page for reviews yet, I am going to write about it here. Though I saw a lot of swatches online where it looked way sparklier than bronze rose, on me, they both look glowy indoors and in the shade, and a bit sparkly in the sun. The biggest difference is that the corail is more versatile (for me at least) - you can use the upper two stripes or just the lightest one as a highlighter, the coral one as a blush and the darkest one as a contour and the the three or four combined as a bronzer which can't really compare to only using bronze rose as 2 types of blush. Another plus is that it really evens out my skintone and I look healthy :) And both don't show orange on me so this alone is a reason enough to throw a party :P

Blush -Chanel - Orchid Rose [DISCONTINUED]
alicehump 5/17/2011 10:28:00 AM
This is a review for the US version. It wasn't a love at first sight, especially when I saw how sparkly it look in the pan. Then I swatched it on my hand and the sparkles were there but fortunately they show up as a lovely glow on my cheeks when I use my 187 brush. Surprisingly, it looks very natural on my NC20-25 skin because I can't really think of someone that blushes with glitter (NARS Orgasm, I am looking at you). The thing is that as much as I like the glow, I prefer matte finishes for my blush because they look even more natural (I have breakouts sometimes so it can look a bit weird). I prefer experimenting with eyeshadow and lipstick rather than blush (bronzer is another thing, lol) So, in few words - if you like glitter - go for NARS orgasm & co., if you like glow get this one, if you like matte finishes, go for Givenchy :) The only reason, I wouldn't repurchase is that it takes me ages to finish a blush and if I am not 100% wowed by it, I am pretty much bored by then. Edit: So I was feeling tired, I had an awful breakout and poeple were complimenting my complexion and how fresh I looked. Most were surprised that the only thing I changed in my routine was the blush so I am starting to get wowed. Edit 2: I love love love it! I get compliments, it smells nice, my skin loves it so I am getting it again!
