Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Whisper

This has the exact texture and smell of Nivea chap stick. If you like that, you'll love this. I do need to use a moisturizing product underneath, also a base layer helps hide imperfections as this product settles into lines almost instantly. However, every lip product I've ever used requires two products (at least) to get moisture, longevity, and color payoff, and an all in one is not what I'm looking for. I was looking for a sheer wash of color that was more translucent than Lip Butters, and this fits the bill. Colors are jelly like with a cooler tone, and I love them.

Fragrance is so subjective. I don't get Bronze Goddess notes in this at all. I really am not a fan of this stuff, it smells so much like a cosmetic product (makeup, lipstick or something) - The drydown is a but more likeable but reminds me vaguely of VS Heavenly. In theory, I should love this based on the notes, but I just don't think the scent matches the notes or the vibe it's going for. You could put this in a celeb scent bottle and it would seem more appropriate.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Flawless 24K Lip Illuminator

This is a product I don't love or hate - I think I'd love it more if the gold actually showed up. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and I'm not sure if more gold will show up later in the tube's life or not. The tube is very pretty, although I think it's larger than it's needed to be. The cap is like 1.5" long. The gloss itself is not sticky; it's more "wet" feeling. It doesn't have more than an hour or so wear-time on me. The scent reminds me of a subtle version of Bonne Bell's old Vanilla Frosting. I like the scent a lot. I don't detect a flavor. Overall, if this was golder and longer lasting, I'd like it a lot. But for a basic, clear gloss, you can find better for cheaper.

Either my nose or my skin causes this to just smell Smokey. It reminds me of when women smoke, and then try to cover the smell with perfume. I don't hate it, but I just can't get past the smoke element. My husband even asked me if I'd been around a friend who smokes.

I LOVE the Florale scent, so I thought I'd try the original. I hate it. It smells exactly like Sunflowers perfume on me.

This smells EXACTLY like Cool Water on me. Exactly. Cloying citrus, poor silliage and longevity, and unappealing overall. If I didn't loathe Cool Water maybe I'd appreciate this more.

I tried the version of this sold at Kohls, so I'm not sure if it was an EDP or EDT or if this even sells in an EDP. I liked the initial spray, and then the patchouli hit me like a ton of bricks. The patchouli and sandalwood together are far too spicy-musky and that is all I could smell for several hours. Impressive longevity on me. I actually love the drydown, but my hubby says I smell like his grandma. So even though I ended up liking it, I won't wear it bc my husband won't come near m!

I bought this for my husband. I normally loathe cologne - so many of them seem to share the same note that apparently indicates a scent is for males. This cologne doesn't have that note! It's *almost* an androgynous fragrance, but also really manly at the same time, though that doesn't make a ton of sense. I love this, my husband likes it, and he actually used the whole bottle. Will buy again.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Persagel 10
alex193 6/11/2012 6:09:00 PM
I restrained myself from writing a review on this product until I had been using it for several weeks, just to be sure. Well, peeps, this stuff ROCKS. From my own trials and tribulations, I know that my skin doesn't respond well to Salicylic Acid (nothing happens with it. It's like water) but I had luck with a weaker Benzoyl Peroxide - 2.5% in the past. Long story short, I went off the pill, my face grew more blemishes by the month, and once my cheeks broke out with tons of whiteheads and my chin had cystic acne, I was desperate. None of my old tricks had been working, including the 2.5% BP that that had previously worked. For a reference, I never tried oil cleansing - that is just too much work for me to keep up with on a regular basis. So with Persagel 10, I def. got drying. However, everywhere it dried had ZERO blemishes. I got a very light moisturizer, and once my skin had gotten used to Persagel, I've had no issues with flakes or dryness and my zits are kept at bay. So if you get flakes, don't quit, but maybe cut down to once a day and just a thin layer. I always apply a thicker layer to areas that don't respond as well, like my cheeks and my nose. Don't get this around your eyes... wash your hands after you use it. My routine: Night: Remove eye makeup. Wash and gently exfoliate face with L'oreal 360 clean scrub. Lightly moisturize if needed with Cerave PM and put eye area treatments on. Apply Persagel all over face, using a thicker layer on problem areas. (I do this last because otherwise I have a tendency to shmear it into my eye area.) (I'm not in love with that scrub, I just wanted a non-medicated exfoliant scrub and this was economical. I don't recommend any apricot scrub though) Morning: Dampen a paper towel and gently rub all over face and neck. Apply Cerave PM lotion. If still feeling dry, apply another layer and/or use a primer with my makeup.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Pomegranate Punk
alex193 6/11/2012 5:43:00 PM
I like this! I was hoping the color was a little more cranberry - it seems to pull a bit bronze on me. It looks nice layered with a little Urban Decay "Busted" as a liner. I'd give it a 5 if the shimmer in it wasn't bronze colored (you can see the tiny glitter pieces are bronze rather than pomegranate). I have oily lids and this didn't crease all day at work. Yay for that! It can be hard for me to blend evenly on both eyes, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream
alex193 6/11/2012 2:24:00 PM
After experiencing breakouts from this on my cheeks, I only use it around my eyes now. I simply dip a clean q-tip and rub over my liner and shadow, then dip the other end (clean end) and get the rest of my eye makeup off. I then rinse and wipe gently with a damp paper towel. While this works great, I've also used the same method for the tub of moisturizer, and that actually works better at removing makeup. I think it works really well on the face but like others have said, you need to take care to completely remove it or you will likely clog your pores. Even though you're left with glowy plump skin, that is simply too much work for me... lol. I don't want to have to be vigilant about taking off something I just put on to take something else off. Seems redundant, so I just use a cleanser.

Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Powder Play
alex193 6/3/2012 7:39:00 PM
So weird, but so awesome. I have really long hair that is thick at the ends but thin at the roots, and I hate how flat it gets on the top. Could be an unflattering cut, but even still, I need a solution - this powder is just awesome. Yes, it feels gummy, but it seriously works. It reminds me of the feel of dancefloor wax powder or rosin or something - it's very strange. My application method = Sprinkle liberally on roots, lifting to get the roots underneath. Flip head over, shake and massage roots, and BAM! Big, sexy hair. Flip and shake throughout the day as needed. If you aren't getting volume, add some more powder when you apply. I haven't experienced a problem washing it out at all.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked 2 Palette
alex193 5/22/2012 10:54:00 AM
I love the packaging and I actually really like the brush, but the e/s itself... well, I'm a little disappointed. I love the colors. This is my first higher end cosmetics purchase and I was hoping that the shadow would be better. I find that by the end of the day, the colors sort of all blend together into one color. I do get some creasing occasionally. I don't experience that with some of my drugstore e/s, and I feel as though the price of this pallet warrants being able to wear it without having to use a primer. EDIT: I returned this. It just creases and blurs too much and I can't justify spending more money on a primer when I can get DS e/s that lasts better and longer for 1/3 of the price. I do like the texture of this e/s, and you can get a good color payout with just one swipe of the brush. I do have to do this before my foundation bc of the fallout on my cheeks, which I suppose it a trade up for the nice texture. Again though, I don't experience this with some of my drugstore e/s. The main reason I bought this was for the matte black color- it's fantastically opaque and no hint of shimmer or sparkle, which I appreciate. I like Pistol, Bootycall, Tease, and Busted the best. Busted is prob my favorite. Overall, I don't feel the quality of the e/s is better than many drugstore e/s. However, I like the colors and I like the packaging, and I appreciate the brush that came with it. 3 lippies from me. Won't repurchase though.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue

This lasts forever on me - especially on my clothing and in my hair. I love the open and I love the dry down, but I hate the mid section. It smells like really strong candy on me between open and drydown and I loathe it. I like simple, non complex frags bc I'm so picky with all of the notes... I wish I could take out whatever is so sweet in this. Leave the lime, musk and whatever ozonic thing I'm smelling and take out anything floral and sugary.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - ColorBurst Strawberry
alex193 5/14/2012 1:30:00 PM
WOW! I adore this color. I've been looking for the perfect color for so long, and I prefer glossier lip products, so this is perfect. I don't mind the glitter. It's less apparent in this gloss than it is in the Peach Parfait lip butter. Longevity doesn't quite live up to Victoria's Secret lip gloss in the squeeze tube, but the Revlon isn't quite as sticky either. I will buy this forever simply bc the color is the best I've ever found for my coloring. It's almost perfectly neutral with a smidge of blue undertones that works perfectly on my pigmented lips. My skin is neutral. For a reference, I bought 3 different colors of this product - they all have a weird, kind of rancid smell... I think this is normal, based on other reviews... It's not apparent in the Strawberry color, but in the Crystal Waters color, the smell is quite strong and icky. Might return that one...
