Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Eyeliner in Cocoa
aleriene 2/15/2011 3:14:00 PM
i have been using the covergirl perfectblend for a long time now, but was trying to find something that was the same color but lasted longer and i found that with this product! i read the great reviews and decided to give it a try. i bought the brown color first but it was darker then the color on the package and it was too harsh for me. i have red hair and a really light complexion so i went back out and bought the cocoa color and realized this is the color i should have gotten to begin with. it still can be a little darker then i like for the daytime if i put it on heavily, but i try to just barely go across my lower lash line a couple times then it comes out pretty and natural looking. i use it on my waterline too and it doesn't last all day, but definitely longer then the one i was using before. i think the thing i like most about this eyeliner is the fact that i don't have to heat it up or press down hard on my eyes in order to get it to work good. it just glides on, and i don't have to sharpen it either which is a huge plus. having to keep a pencil sharpener in my makeup bag with eyeliner residue on it (if you don't wash it good EVERY time you use it!) really starts to make the bag look dirty quickly! i really wasn't thrilled about spending more then $5 for an eyeliner, but i honestly think that not having to use a lot of this eyeliner each time i use it, along with not having to sharpen it will make up for the difference in price since i won't have to repurchase it as often. not sure if it will dry out but this is what i'm thinking anyway!...anyway overall i am really glad i found this. i like it a lot. :)

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
aleriene 8/18/2010 12:33:00 PM
i bought this after reading the reviews for using it as a moisturizer and to help my eyelashes grow....i have been using it for over a week now, and can definitely tell my skin is softer, but can't really tell a difference in my lashes, which is ok, b/c if nothing else, i know it is helping protect them from breaking off etc. what i do as far as moisturizing is put in on my skin after i get done taking a shower when it's still wet and then let it sink in for a few minutes (sometimes longer) and wipe off any excess with a towel so i don't have a "greasy" feeling. it still takes a little while for it all to completely absorb but when it does, it feels great and i love the way my skin feels now. i put it on my eyelashes at night after i take off my makeup with just my finger and rub it on my eyelid across the lashes and then underneath the top lashes to coat the other side of them too...a little goes a long way, both for this and for the moisturizer, so i am sure this stuff will last forever!! also, i put it on my lips at night and on my 15 month old instead of diaper rash cream at night. she seems to like it too ;)...oh and i am pregnant and currently using it on my belly to hopefully help with stretch marks, or at least that awful itchy dry feeling i tend to get when my belly gets so big! this is my third baby and i have gotten stretch marks with the other two, so i will let you know if it helps at all with this in a few months!

Powder -Cover Girl - Fresh complexion oil control makeup (powder foundation)
aleriene 8/4/2010 10:37:00 AM
i don't why i tried to use a powder foundation, b/c every time i have used one i didn't like it. i guess i was just desperate b/c i have been trying to find something to replace my favorite, maybelline pure makeup, which was discontinued....i actually did find something that i liked almost as much ( covergirl clean makeup liquid oil control) but this wasn't it. it was too dark, even in the lightest shade, and it didn't really cover anything up, but it did make it obvious that i was wearing makeup with the powdery look and it made me pores stand out. to me, it just looked like my face was dirty and powdery, and i don't like that look...so i only used it one time...it may work great for people who aren't as pale as i am, or who like the powdery finish, but not for me. i really wish i could return it, but i can't, so if someone would like mine, just pay shipping and i would be glad to send it to you! :)

Liquid -Cover Girl - Clean Makeup Oil Control
aleriene 8/4/2010 10:16:00 AM
i have been trying to find something to replace maybelline pure makeup, which is my favorite foundation that was discontinued.the reason i liked it was because it was #1 CHEAP, and it was light but did a good job of evening out my complexion and helped control oil. this was pretty close, although it doesn't cover blemishes as well, that can be solved by just using a little concealer on those spots. it also doesn't control oil AS well i don;t think, or at least for as long as the maybelline, but i really like the way it feels on my skin and it also is light enough for my skin which is a huge plus. i have red hair and am really pale and this doesn't look orange on me or anything..i got the lightest shade, which was ivory 505...i think for someone who wants help with controlling oil and yet still look natural and not "made" up, this is a great makeup. and for the price, you really can't beat it :) *UPDATE: i am now using a thin layer of milk of magnesia on my oily tzone before putting this on, as a "primer", and it's staying on great...my face doesn't feel oily at all, and the coverage is still great. i am really happy i gave this a chance. it's really a great makeup, especially for the price!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Cover Girl Professional Mascara (washable)
aleriene 1/29/2009 1:58:00 PM
i was trying to find something a little cheaper than maybelline full and soft mascara, which is what i was currently using and loved, and i found this and gave it a try. i think it works just as well, and is under $4 at walmart. i have to use a couple coats to get the results that i want, but that is what i have done with almost every other mascara that i have ever tried so i don't mind. it doesn't clump when you apply it at the base first, and then add the rest to the outer part of your lashes. by doing this once or twice (depending on how thick your lashes are to begin with, mine are pretty non-existant!!) you will get a full, but not fake, lash effect. i think this will be a keeper =P

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
aleriene 7/23/2008 1:21:00 PM
i like this mascara a lot. i used to use it all the time, but had switched to maybelline full and soft for the last few years. i like maybelline f&s bc it gave me very natural looking, but volumized lashes. recently though i wanted to try l'oreal again, and since then have noticed that it does make my lashes look more curled, longer, and fuller than the other one. i think there is an art to applying mascara and you just have to have patience when applying it. with that i think you will really appreciate and like this mascara...

Fragrances -Mary Kay - Bella Belara
aleriene 6/10/2008 12:27:00 PM
i really like this perfume. i was using clinique happy before and was thinking about buying mary kay velocity which smells alot like happy, but when i smelled this i liked it better. i actually smelled all the mary kay fragrances at a recent party and this was my favorite. i bought my own bottle a few days ago and really like it. it doesn't seem to last as long as i would like but neither did the happy so maybe i just need to use more or reapply it sooner. anyway this smells fruity and clean. not too over-powering or stinky after the dry down. it is my new favorite!....and by the way the price is great. $35 for 1.7 ounces. not bad =D

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Milk of Magnesia
aleriene 11/14/2007 3:38:00 PM
i figured i'd give it a try since it's only a few dollars! i applied it with a makeup sponge underneath my makeup (mostly just on my forehead bc it gets pretty shiny) and it does seem to prolong the time-span before my forehead gets shiny- i don't actually think there is anything in this world that could keep my forehead from getting shiny inevitably but this does a good job, and especially for the money, you can't go wrong- i heard another girl on here say that it works as well as clinique primer (which i'm sure is way more money) so go figure! ;-) edit: i just started back using this a few weeks ago and really like it. i am not sure why i quit using it, but i recently switched foundations to covergirl clean oil control makeup and needed something to help control the shine and staying power on my t-zone, so i used this. it makes a big difference and helps my makeup stay on longer and it's not greasy by lunch time!...just be sure to put a very thin layer on your skin (i use a makeup sponge) or it will give you white patches...

Liquid -Maybelline - Pure Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
aleriene 11/14/2007 3:17:00 PM
i love this foundation! i have been trying to find something to replace my covergirl continuous wear (which they discontinued for some reason!) and i read some reviews on this and decided to try it out- i've been using it for almost a week now and believe i can finally quit searching for a makeup that i love bc i love this one- it is great for oily skin bc it sits nicely on your face and leaves a matte but completely natural appearance of your face...i've read some people say that you can barely feel it on your face and it is so true! believe it or not it does actually cover your imperfections, and even your complexion wonderfully, but at the same time you can't tell your wearing it....i can't explain how it does that, but believe me it does. i recently tried the mary kay medium coverage foundation but had to quit using it bc the lightest shade was too dark for me, but the coverage it gave was very simular to this except it was thicker. i wanted to see if this makeup was as long lasting as my maybelline everfresh make up (which says it stays put from morning to night....and does IMO) so yesterday i tried (i know this may sound crazy!) putting my maybelline everfresh foundation on one side of my face, and putting my new maybelline pure makeup on the other side to see if it would last as long, and when i checked mid-afternoon both sides looked the same! so after that little experiment i decided i am definetly going to go for my pure makeup from now on bc it just feels so light on my face- i will probably use my other for nights and stuff since it is a little thicker etc.... anyway great product, and did i mention it is CHEAP?? you can't beat $5 for 1 oz of makeup!

Eyeliner -New York Color - Eye Liner Pencil
aleriene 11/13/2007 2:22:00 PM
I use the 922A (dark brown) as an eyeliner and love it!! it's extremely cheap and does just as well if not better than more expensive eyeliner pencils out there! I used to use the covergirl pencil and others, but decided to try this a few years ago, and now I won't buy anything else- you can get the bold look or smudge it a bit to look more natural which is what I do most of the time.... it stays on all day and doesn't fade etc... and one pencil lasts me probably 6 months which is wonderful! The only negative thing I can think of is that it clumps a little it sometimes when I'm putting it on, so you have to sharpen it from time to time but overall I think it is an excellent product and bargain for the money ( you can't beat 99 cents!!come one ;-))- give it a try!

Liquid -Mary Kay - Medium Coverage Foundation
aleriene 11/7/2007 11:53:00 AM
I tried this foundation in the ivory 100(which is the lightest shade they carry), and the 104 and neither one were light enough for my complexion. I liked the way it felt, the consistency of it, and the oil control etc.. but I ended up having to give it back bc it was just too dark for me. I really wish they would make a lighter shade and then I could use it but oh well!! ;-)

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Daily Pore Cleanser
aleriene 11/6/2007 4:00:00 PM
I like this b/c it has the microscrubbers, and that helps exfoliate your skin, plus i think it smells good, and leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed...the only things I don't really care for about this is that it makes my face feel kinda tight and dry when I get done washing it, and it seems like I have to rinse it off more thoroughly to get it all off- I probably will go back to the noxema daily exfoliating cleanser when I get done with this though, because overall I think that that is a better product and it smells better and doesn't leave your skin feeling tight, just refreshed! UPDATE: this is really drying out my face- i'm gonna have to get some noxema daily exfoliating scrub like i had before or something bc this stuff is making my skin flake etc... (and i do use a moisturizer afterwards, at least at night anyway!!)

Other -Crest - Whitestrips Premium
aleriene 10/31/2007 2:08:00 PM
I used these right before I got married to whiten up my teeth and wasn't very happy with the results. My teeth aren't yellow and I don't smoke or drink coffee, but I do have a few stained stained spots from where I had braces for a few years. I have actually tried the supreme version of this product as well and didn't see a big difference with that one either. I'm not really sure if they did anything at all actually , or if it was all in my head, because I really wanted to believe that I wasn't throwing my money out the window!!haha- but I do remember asking my stepmom, my husband, and a few others and no one seemed to notice much of a difference so there ya go ;-)

Mascara -Cover Girl - Clear Mascara
aleriene 10/24/2007 4:43:00 PM
I like this mascara because it's actually the only clear mascara that I've found in a department store (maybe I'm just not looking hard enough??) but I just use it at night to help nourish my lashes, and also on my eyebrows from time to time to keep them in place. I normally wear maybelline full and soft during the day and that works great ;-)

Liquid -Clinique - Perfectly Real Makeup
aleriene 10/24/2007 3:08:00 PM
My stepmom bought me some of this and I really liked it. I don't know if it's worth the $20 or however much it is, but it worked very well for me. In fact I was kinda upset when it ran out (it lasted me about 5 months of every day use) because it's not likely that I will buy more since it is so expensive, but I may if I cannot find anything else I like that's cheaper. It covered very nicely(a little goes a long way!)- not too much but just enough to where you can still see your face underneath :) and the color was perfect- my husband thought I wasn't wearing any at all is how good it blended in! It also stayed on and didn't look cakey, or oily. This reminded me a lot of my former favorite makeup which was covergirl continuous wear foundation (which they unfortunately discontinued for some reason, and it was a lot cheaper!!) which I think is why I liked it so much. Anyway overall a good makeup for oily/ acne-prone skin!
