Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula
akhteian 10/20/2011 12:25:00 PM
The product pictured looks different than what I have. The bottle I have is a lighter yellow color and has a pump. I love the lotion...it sinks in quickly, smells great and doesn't leave any residue. I use this after shaving to moisturize and keep irritation at bay. I would stray from this to find something better, but there's no need to because this works great!

Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime GLOW
akhteian 10/20/2011 12:21:00 PM
Just finished my first tube of this... It is VERY easy to apply and very difficult to mess up. I think I maybe got streaks from this one time and that is because of my heavy application and lazy method. I literally just put this on like regular lotion and then wash my hands afterwards. The reason for the 4 stars is that I wish this were darker. I can tell it has gradually given me color because I would be a lot whiter otherwise at this time of year...but I would hope for a more rich color. I read that the Sublime Bronze is much to orange and indeed when I opened the container of it at the store it looked much too dark...I guess I'd just like something in between. I am out of tanning lotion so unless I find a sale on a more high end alternative (I've read good things about Bare Essentuals Faux Tan), then I will more than likely buy this again and just use more of it and more often to achieve the look I desire. Definitely a safe bet for a tanning product if you're worried about orange color or streaks.

Scrubs -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Sea Salt Body Scrub
akhteian 10/20/2011 12:17:00 PM
This is the first scrub that I made a point to use religiously (3x week)...I used at night in the shower before my tanning lotion. The scent is mediocre, the consistency of the salt scrubbers is good...not too harsh, but the oil in the container is off-putting. I got this for free so I used it up, but I would not re-purchase. I'm gonna go for one of the Body Shop scrubs now and see how I like that. If you just want a scrub for once in awhile use or maybe to use just on your feet or elbow/knees, then this might be ok...although I think Trader Joe's sells a similar salt scrub for cheaper.

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
akhteian 10/20/2011 12:14:00 PM
HG. One of my only HG products actually. I cannot rave about this exfoliant enough. At first I was so weirded out by the concept of this powder exfoliant but then I followed directions and felt my skin afterwards and I was hooked. I have been using this for about 4 years and when I use it religiously as I should, I always get compliments on how bright and even my skin tone is. I love this. I use it 3-4 times a week in the evening in my shower. Just be careful not to get water into the container. Yes this is expensive, but use a small amount (it's all you need anyway) and this will last you forever. I promise you it's worth it.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense All Day Moisturizer SPF15
akhteian 10/20/2011 12:07:00 PM
It seems like there are so many different versions of this on here... The product I have looks just like the one in the picture...I have combo skin that will break-out mildly from the wrong ingredients... There is a version of this product that uses chemical sunscreen (i.e. octylcrylene, avobenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, oxybenzone) which my skin will NOT tolerate...if you have sensitive skin, look for a physical sunscreen (i.e. zinc oxide or titanium dioxide)...the version I have that I use every day has the physical sunscreen and works great. I think it good probably stand to be a little more moisturizing, but it works and it's inexpensive and I like to stick with the basics for my skincare during the day...spf, moisture and whatever antioxidants and vitamins I can get. At night is when I will truly nourish and treat my face to everything it needs to stay healthy and young. Daytime: Protect and Prevent Nighttime: Repair and Prevent This is a staple for me...not HG, but I don't think I'm going to try looking for anything better anytime soon.

Treatments (Eye) -Kiss My Face - Eye Witness Eye Cream
akhteian 10/20/2011 11:53:00 AM
I use this eye cream in the morning for day-time wear... I think the ingredients are wonderful, but I do wish it had a few additional ingredients that would truly make this a 5 star product for me. It does have a lot of nourishing ingredients like the rose hips, sunflower oil, shea butter and lavender oil...and it does have hyaluronic acid which is an absolute MUST for eye creams as well as ALA...but I wish the vitamin content was a little more hefty in this...it does have vitamin C and vitamin a in the form on retinyl palmitate...but I'd like to see actual vitamin A, some B vitamins and also vitamin K or beta carotene. Additionally I think this eye cream could benefit from the addition of caffeine. I will probably keep using this eye cream and then just look for an additional cream that has the rest of the ingredients I desire to complement this cream because it really is wonderful and the ingredient list is spectacular for the price...trust me, I know my ingredients. I will keep this in my morning routine for sure. ,

Styling Products -TRESemme - Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist Hairspray
akhteian 10/20/2011 11:46:00 AM
This is the only hair spray I will ever buy again...ever. I am obsessed with Victoria Secret-esque hair...long, touchable curls and waves and I achieve and hold that look with my hair thanks to my slew of products that I am always changing...but this is an absolutely staple for me. No matter how much I spray, it never hardens my hair or makes it sticky or crunchy...it just does it's job of keeping my curls curled and my waves wavy while still keeping my hair soft and flowy and touchable. A hairspray that lets you spray the hell out of your hair and then still be able to run your fingers through it is an absolute HG product. Love this.

Cleansers -Boscia - Purifying Cleansing Gel
akhteian 10/20/2011 11:38:00 AM
I am an absolute ingredient freak...I will research each and every ingredient of a product to learn their benefits and/or possible harmful effects on the skin...well this cleanser had all the right ingredients, it sounded wonderful for what I was looking for. I gave this about a 3 week run before returning it to Sephora. The first two weeks I really liked (not loved) this cleanser...it seemed to be a little difficult to completely rinse off, but knowing that, I just made sure to clean my face really well after lathering. The scent is nice, the consistency is nice, the packaging is lovely...but unfortunately on the third week of use I broke out into a small cluster of pimples on my left cheek (where I never break out), and then a couple on my forehead and then on the last day I used it, I broke out in a couple on my chin as well. Keep in mine my skin is combination...in every sense of the word. I have slightly oily forehead, dry cheeks, dry chin, dry nose. I rarely "break out"...just a couple hormonal pop-ups around that time of the month. I think this formula just had too many oils (plant-based or not) and my skin couldn't handle it. I returned it yesterday and bought a sample size of Ole Henrickson's African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser and it is absolutely wonderful so far. If you have combo, break-out prone skin (from products), then I would suggest trying a lighter cleanser than this. The product is definitely high quality, just didn't work for me unfortunately.

Shampoo -Organix - Coconut Milk Shampoo
akhteian 8/22/2011 6:50:00 PM
This stuff literally dehydrated my long, wavy hair. It smells so good, but it is definitely not a good product. The conditioner is no better. The shampoo left my hair feeling like straw, and the conditioner is thick, but nowhere near rich enough to nourish.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Oil Free Moisture - SPF 15
akhteian 4/6/2011 12:35:00 PM
So I've been using this for about a month and just the past couple weeks my skin has been breaking out pretty badly (few spots on cheeks and forehead). I have combo skin with oily t-zone and non-sensitive skin usually. I haven't switched anything else in my regimen and usually only breakout from PMS, came on here to check reviews and sure enough lots of people with combo/oily skin are having problems with this product. I switched from an Olay lotion which worked good enough but I think I'll look for something better than the both of them. Sighhh. Only Neutrogena product I've had problems with!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume

love this mascara. keep trying other brands and always keep this one on hand for when the other brands fail me (which they inevitably always do). i just this in conjunction with a lengthening mascara, but this one will always be a staple.
