Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
ahs767 5/21/2013 6:48:00 PM
I tried this out as a sample before committing to buy because finding foundation that a) matches my skin and b) doesn't melt off my face is nearly impossible. I had previously been using a powder foundation, but it wasn't giving me the coverage or the lasting power that I wanted. I think I may have found my holy grail with this foundation! I had someone at Sephora do a shade match for me and I wound up sampling #25, which was a perfect match for my face. I was terrified that a liquid foundation would feel cakey and thick on my skin, but this went on so smooth and light. It's a medium to full coverage foundation, and it's very buildable. The thing that really sold me though is that 7 hours later I very little oil breakthrough in my t zone and none on the rest of my face! The little bit of oil that did manage to make it through is only enough to give my skin that "dewy" look, it's certainly not enough that someone would look at my face and say "Oh, she has oily skin." The $42 (before taxes) price here in Canada is a bit of an ouch, but for the results I would pay it. My only other gripe is that it doesn't have a pump, but that's just a personal preference for packaging. Overall this is a great foundation, and I'd recommend that anyone who has problems with oily skin give it a try.

Palettes -Too Faced - Summer Eye
ahs767 3/31/2013 4:19:00 PM
This was all sold out last year, so I was really excited when they re-released it! The only difference with the colors is that they've changed sugar sand to seashell. There are pros and cons with the new packaging. It's made of tin this year instead which I don't mind, but it's only magnets that keep it shut. I'm afraid it might pop open when traveling. The plastic inside gets a little messy too, I dunno...I'm just a fan of the original packaging that too faced usually uses. Now, on to the colors. I'm sort of up and down about them. They're very sheer, which is something that I've never had a problem with with too faced before (I own the romantic and smokey eye palettes, and previously owned the pixie pinups palette). They're really pretty, but you really have to pack it on to get them to show. Even the coral color that I thought would be so bright took some work. That said, if you work at it the looks are very pretty. Despite the fact that many of them are glittery, I also haven't experienced any fallout which is great. The shades for the crease for each look are all different shades of brown. I don't know what I would have preferred honestly, but something different would have been nice. I know I'll get a lot of use out of it this summer, but I probably wouldn't repurchase it if it came out again next year.

Blush -Too Faced - Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush
ahs767 3/31/2013 4:10:00 PM
Really cute blush! Reading the reviews below it seemed like it didn't show up very well on a lot of people's skin, but it works very well for my fair skin. It gives my cheeks a nice pink flush, which I think would work for any season. The packaging is cute, although I do wish it was a little more durable for traveling. Not a bad blush, I'd buy it again.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
ahs767 1/4/2013 1:29:00 AM
Amazing drug store mascara, and this is coming from someone who didn't like the original lash blast! I'm pleasantly surprised to say that so far for me this mascara has done what it promises - it hasn't clumped. I bought this in brown black, which looks really natural and pretty on my lashes. Another big difference from the original lash blast is the brush. I found the brush on the original too big, making it hard to work with. I also didn't like how the brush on the original had no curve. The brush with clump crusher is curved and a bit smaller. It was a bit expensive where I am (10.99 before taxes) but still cheaper than shelling out an extra 10-20 dollars for a mascara from sephora. I'd definitely repurchase, it's a great mascara!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eyes
ahs767 12/23/2012 6:51:00 PM
I found there were lots of pros and cons to this mascara. First of all, I loved the brush. The shape was perfect for grabbing my lower lashes! The formula was a little wet, which was fine for me since I prefer wet mascaras. I liked the amount of length it gave my lashes, but that said it didn't do much for volume. I found this mascara was a lot like Maybelline's lash stiletto, right down to the smell. If you like that mascara, you'd probably like this one. It didn't really create a "cat eye" for me, although I wasn't really expecting it to be a miracle worker in that sense. Overall it was an okay mascara, but the reason I wouldn't repurchase is because it made my eyelashes fall out! Not just a few either, I actually have a little spot on my right eyelid where there are no lashes. I don't know if other people have experienced this or if it's just me, but despite the cheap price I wouldn't personally risk it again.

Mascara -Quo - Miraculous Lash Mascara
ahs767 7/24/2012 9:34:00 PM
Not a bad mascara! I took a risk on this one because I was in need of something and I liked the look of the brush, wasn't disappointed. It gives your lashes a very natural look and doesn't clump. The formula is neither too wet nor too dry. The price was a bit higher than most drug store mascaras, but that didn't bother me considering it worked well. It doesn't quite measure up to my all time favorite (too faced lashgasm) but it does the trick when I'm looking for something a little cheaper.

Styling Products -Organix - Renewing Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil
ahs767 7/20/2012 6:30:00 PM
I bought travel sizes of both the shampoo and conditioner to try because of all the hype. Although it made my hair soft, it also made it greasy. I only put a dime sized amount in my shoulder length hair and it still made it look oily when it dried out. Honestly, lush shampoo products made my hair softer anyway. Wouldn't repurchase.

Lipstick -NARS - Jungle Red
ahs767 7/19/2012 11:08:00 PM
I've been on the hunt for a red lipstick that's not too overpowering but still bright for a while now. I wanted something I could wear every day, and this is it! The lasting power of this lipstick is great. I ate and drank water with it on and it still remained, no touch up needed. Like other reviewers have said, it is a bit drying so you'll need a gloss or a balm. It's a beautiful and versatile red that I'll continue to repurchase!

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush in Tipsy
ahs767 7/8/2012 11:40:00 PM
After falling so in love with the color blissful in this collection, I ran out to Sephora and picked up tipsy too. Just like blissful, this blush is gorgeous! It turns out pretty and peachy on my skin, I'm hooked. Just like blissful, tipsy only required me to put the tiniest bit of product on my brush. As promised, my blush lasted a full 12 hours. It would probably last longer too, I just washed it off before I could find out. I love this blush line, it's definitely worth the price.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti
ahs767 7/8/2012 11:36:00 PM
My mom gave this to me cause she hated the way it looked on her lips, and I apprehensively accepted it because it looks frightening in the tube! I didn't use it for weeks until I finally put some on today just to see. Don't let it scare you! It's gorgeous! It looked like a pretty coral pink on my lips, and I liked that unlike my other lip butters it has no glitter. It was a nice little change. Will definitely repurchase this one!

Palettes -Too Faced - Romantic Eye
ahs767 7/5/2012 11:58:00 PM
As someone who used a Too Faced palette before (pixie pin-ups) I was thrilled to receive this as a gift. I tried the classic look right away and it turned out beautifully! As always with Too Faced shadows, the application was super smooth and easy to shade and blend. I had absolutely no problems with fall out. These colors are so pretty for a day to day fresh look. Can't wait to keep using it!

Lip Gloss -NYX - NYX 113 French Kiss
ahs767 7/5/2012 11:51:00 PM
VERY FROSTY. I like this lip gloss when I use a little bit of it. Too much and you're gonna make yourself look like a porn star. I'll continue to wear a little of it every now and then til I run out, but because it's a little hard to work with I probably wouldn't repurchase.

Lips -DuWop - Lip Venom V - Twilight Venom
ahs767 7/5/2012 11:46:00 PM
What could have been a great product wound up being a huge flop. The color of this was very appealing on my lips (a nice dark crimson red). Unfortunately it didn't go anywhere but the center of my bottom lip and the bottom of my upper lip (does that make sense?). Basically, it made my mouth look like it was covered in blood...not exactly attractive. The packaging quality was also very poor, as the oily part of the venom leaked out all over the bottle. I really, really wish this had distributed on my lips better...the color was so pretty.

Palettes -Tarte - Tarte for True Blood
ahs767 7/3/2012 1:54:00 PM
I waited forever to get this palette, and I wanted to love it so bad. Sadly I was disappointed. The colors aren't very pigmented and very chalky, the way they looked on my eyes isn't what they looked like in the pan. The amount of fall out made it extremely hard to work with, I put a tissue under my eye and still got glitter everywhere. I tried to do the Sookie inspired look and it just looked cheap. On the plus side, I do actually really like the lighter colors in this pallette. Bayou and Dawn are very pretty, and I've gotten quite a bit of use out of those. The Light, Fairy and Dusk are also really great neutral colors. I thought I'd use this palette mostly for colorful going out looks, but I find I use it most for simple and neutral ones. I avoid Waitress (and most of the glittery colors) like the plague, but the matte colors like Werewolf, Stake and Legend (though chalky) aren't terrible. The packaging is awesome, but sadly that and the few good colors aren't enough to make me wanna repurchase this super pricy palette.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful
ahs767 7/3/2012 1:26:00 PM
This blush leaves the most beautiful pink glow on my skin. It's highly pigmented, so I don't have to pack it on the brush like some of my other blushes. It was really pricy, but seeing as I don't need to use much of it to get the desired effect I know it will last a long time! It does as promised and lasted all day, even in the heat. This is a wonderful product, and I'll certainly buy more colors in the line!
