Concealers -Ettusais - Whitening Concealer

right now my HG concealer..and i've tried tons of brands...including CDP...this one can conceal 80% of my dark circles..it can even conceal the red dots that appear under my eyes if i ever cry too hard~~its also very creamy...never emphasizing any dehydration lines no matter how many times i re-apply...i have the middle shade..which is a bit pink...good for covering my brownish circles~~it's also very affordable for its quality~~i think i got it for ard $150-$180 HKD? the tube packaging is also very convenient to bring ard~~i give it a 4.5...if only it could cover up 100% of my circles!~

Eye Makeup Remover -Kose - Perfect Make-up Remover - Eye and Lip
ah_yan 10/22/2004 4:00:00 PM
I'm so glad i bought this product!! If it wasn;t for MUA..i would never have known about this..hehe~~~My skin is allergic to all types of cleansing oils...it's fine for the first few days..but i break out after that..but the problem is, i find other make up removers to be either too harsh or just doesn't remove make up completely~~but this one is different..it is just right for my skin!! I use it for my face too..hehe..and it works really really well~~ =) does anyone know if this product is available in canada? cuz i think this will be my HG for sure..hehe

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
ah_yan 5/22/2004 6:49:00 PM
this is the 2nd mascara i've tried...and i'm going back to my first one~~when i use the annabelle magnifeye (the first one i tried), there were hardly any clumps (have to smoothen out a bit afterwards), my lashes looked thicker but very natural, but most importantly, they curled up even w/out an eyelash curler...but w/ this one..yes, my lashes stayed soft after using it..but they just looked thicker and thats it~~it also made my lashes look clumpy~~and even tho it claims to be waterproof, i find my annabelle one more smudge-free than this one..

Blush -Shiseido - The Makeup Blush Duo in 1 Tangerine Mandarine
ah_yan 4/11/2004 4:15:00 AM
i'm finding myself buying more and more shiseido products..and one of my fav is this blush~~ =) gives me a healthy glow and does not cause any break outs~~i wear the shiseido foundation in O20 and i find it matches perfectly w/ this blush...as just wearing the foundation itself makes me look too pale under daylight~~

Liquid -Shiseido - Fluid Foundation
ah_yan 4/11/2004 4:08:00 AM
so far..this is my HG foundation..and i'm very very picky w/ foundations..its got to look perfect and natural under daylight, indoors as well as pictures..after experimenting w/ many (chanel, mac, CG, versace..etc), i've finally found the exact shade i want...i have it in o20, and its neither too white or yellow~~i definitely need to moisturize a lot b4 putting this on...and i usually don't have to~~i find that this foundation looks better during the day..allowing some time for it to absorb~~it is pretty sheer...but its ok for me as i dun have much acne marks after using kose medicated sekkasai..but i do need to add some concealer around my nose area~~this foundation is a little dry when i first put it on..but it will look better during the day..now i'm still wondering if i should have got the cream version..but i hope this one will work well for the summer~~

Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Eyelash curler
ah_yan 4/10/2004 3:21:00 PM
I saw this on sale so decided to try it out...it didn't make any difference to my lashes...maybe crimping it a little after using it a few more times..teh shape didn't fit my eyes either as it is too flat~~but i shouldn't complain as this only cost me $3-$4 CDN

Sunscreen -Sofina - Very Very UV Cut Milk
ah_yan 4/9/2004 11:32:00 PM
this is the best sunscreen i tried for face so far~~it absorbs quickly, non-greasy and makes a good make-up base~~ w/ SPF24 PA+++, it is just right as it is not too high but good enough for everyday protection..remember to shake well before using or you will pour out water and not lotion~~the best thing about this is that it doesn't cause me break-outs!~it is exactly what i'm looking for and would definitely be my HG if it wasn't for the price...it cost be around $30 US (my friend got it for me from hk)...but comes in a very tiny 30 ml bottle..used it for a week and the bottle feels like its half empty already!~~there must be something cheaper out there that can do the same thing....for now it is my HG but i will be glad to switch if i can find a replacement~~UPDATE: i use it for sun protection around my eyes now...switched to fancl for face!~for some odd reason...this turns a bit greasy for me during the day (it doesn't happen to any of my fds)..but i dun have that problem w/ fancl~~

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
ah_yan 4/4/2004 3:32:00 AM
I agree w/ meera's review 100%...this sunscreen is definitely not good for under make-up...flakes would come right off when i try to blend my foundation~~i find that it breaks me out too~~but it makes a decent, non-greasy, inexpensive, sunscreen for other parts of my body tho~~ =)

Treatments (Eye) -Neutrogena - Radiance Boost Eye Cream
ah_yan 3/31/2004 7:08:00 PM
i'm surprised this product got such a low rating~~it doesn't do anything special but is a pretty decent eye cream that never irritates my eyes no matter how much i put on~~i use it for moisturizing only and it does a decent job...just a bit more moisturizing would be better for concealer base~~dunno if there's something wrong w/ the eyecream i got or my sense of smell but i do not smell anything weird from it..just a tiny bit of a lotion smell~~it looks like a tiny tube but lasts a long long time~~

Mascara -Annabelle - magnifeye
ah_yan 3/27/2004 8:40:00 PM
i've never used a mascara in my life..but after trying this...i think it will have to be part of my routine now!!~i have long, dense, curly eyelashes...i was looking for something really natural and non-clumpy~~after going over all the reviews on MUA..i almost bought the Shu mascara basic on sephora..but luckily i didn't~~SDM had a sale today so i picked this up for around $6...after one coat..my eyes immediately brightened up~~my lashes were a lil thicker but definitely looked much longer~i think it made my lashes even more curly (tho i didn't use a curler prior to this)best of all...it looks so natural..like i wasn't wearing mascara!~i've never tried another mascara in my life..so i cant compare..but i'm very happy w/ this one so i'm not planning to look for another one~~i dun think there is anything the shu one can do to convince me to pay for that outrageous price tag now~~

Crème -Cover Girl - AquaSmooth SPF15 Make-up
ah_yan 3/22/2004 7:50:00 PM
if there was a good colour match for me..this would be my HG for sure~~it covers all my flaws..no need for concealer..which is good cuz i'm always so lazy~~i've tried buff beige and creamy natural...buff beige oxidized into a weird orangy colour after a few hours..creamy natural did not change for me..weird~~but creamy natural is not my exact colour match as i have yellow undertones~~sometimes i feel it has too much coverage too..and feels+looks mask-like (esp in pictures) now i use this as a concealer to cover the redness around my nose, and some light acne marks..and it works great!!~UPDATE: this is my HG foundation again...i put this on if i'm running late..only takes less than a minute..hehe..the key thing is..dun put on too much!!~it will look very natural and flawless if u use a light hand~~i find that creamy natural is great for the average asian skin...it would be a little too dark for light-skinned asians tho...classic ivory would be better for them~~i am nc20-nc30 and now i find that this is a perfect match...and dun be fooled my buff beige!! when u just put it on..it's a perfect match..but it will oxidize in a few hrs~~

i still can't believe something so cheap can work so well~~this scrub left my skin glowing and very very smooth~~will continue to use this for sure~~i always walked pass this product assuming it was an oversized handcream or something~~if i didn't read the reviews here..i wouldn't even think of buying this!!~

Moisturizers -Vichy - Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care
ah_yan 3/15/2004 6:26:00 PM
At first I loved this product as it made my skin silky smooth~~i think it adds a smooth layer on my skin or something..it didn't make a good makeup base for me tho..as foundation would "roll up into a ball" so i only used it at night...but then i broke out from it later and its suppose to cure acne...so i stopped using it completely~~i think it clogs pores due to its "adding a smooth layer" effect~~

Lips -Bonne Bell - Lipsmacker
ah_yan 3/14/2004 12:07:00 AM
I used to use this as a tinted lip balm...its a good product considering its price~~i heard its not available in hk so my aunt is always asking me to get more for her~~it feels really waxy and doesn't moisturize my lips much~~i switched to labello for lip balm and clinique moisture sheer for colour~~
