Liquid -Clinique - Stay-Matte Oil-Free Makeup

Like many other reviewers, this looked thick and cakey on me too. I got golden neutral #8. Works great for NC 35. When I got this I also got a sample of their new pore refining solutions makeup and I love love LUV that one. It looks like real skin and hides my pores and imperfections. And it keeps me more matte than stay matte. I got #8 golden neutral in that one too. So I returned the stay matte and exchanged it for pore refining solutions makeup. And I'm so happy I did!

Crème -Cover Girl - AquaSmooth SPF15 Make-up
rated 4 of 5

One of my best friends has been using this product for years and her skin always looks flawless and smooth. I really liked it's ease of portability and application. On a recent trip my friend was able to pull out her little compact and easily touch up and her makeup looked great! So I decided I should give this a try. I usually use foundations from lancome, clinique, Dior to name a few so I wasn't expecting much from this. I was pleasantly surprised that I really liked the smooth finish this gave. It's quick and easy to apply too. The packaging doesn't bug me too bad I think it's ok considering the product is great! Now, the only negative (and it's a big one for me) is the lack of yellow-toned shades. I am an NC30 in MAC with very yellow undertones. I have to combine Buff Beige and Soft Honey to get a good color match. The colors in between those two were so pink I couldn't believe it. So it really bugs me that this product is supposed to be so convenient to tote around in your purse and I can't do that because I have to mix shades. It's hard to hold two of those big compacts in one hand while your trying to apply with your other hand. To me that's the point of a compact, to make it easier to apply and take with you on the go. Anyway, it really bothers me to say the least. So I do use this at home where I can lay both compacts on my counter and mix and apply but I'm sad it's too hard to apply on the go.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15
rated 5 of 5

I really love this color! I got the birthday gift from Sephora which came with the original and the Rose color and I just had to go back to get the Plum. These are so moisturizing and I love the sheer tint. I tried the other colors but the only ones that I like are Rose and Plum. Plum does go on a little dark but it is natural looking. I like to blot it a little so it's not so intense. I know i will be rebuying this!

Foundations -Clinique - Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfecting Makeup
rated 5 of 5

This is a new foundation; came out in September I believe (2012). It runs for $27 (I got it at Macy's). Shade range isn't very big, only 12 shades but I heard rumors they are supposed to add more shades. I recently tried Clinique's new Stay Matte makeup but I like this one better because it has a more natural finish and is light-weight. This has natural coverage in between light and medium. The finish was semi-matte, not too matte. I am NC 30 with yellow undertones and I use #8 Golden Neutral which is only the 3rd lightest shade so not much to choose from on the light colored end of the spectrum. Comes in a light-weight plastic bottle. The product is thick and creamy (kind of like Double Wear Light) so it is hard to get it out of the bottle sometimes. It is easy to store upside down which is what I do so I can get the product out. A squeeze tube would have been better. Despite being very creamy it feels very light-weight on the skin. I finish it with a little MUFE HD powder for a smooth finish. I did have to spot conceal on blemishes and around my nose for a more full coverage look. However, for everyday I don't feel the need to use concealer with this. I have combo/dry skin and it doens't make my skin feel overly dry. Coverage lasted all day on me, but I do powder up mid-day. I'm not sure how it will perform in high heat. As for the pore minimizing claim--I don't know if it is that great. Helps blur the appearance of pores but so do a lot of other foundations I have tried, especially the long-wearing ones. But I still like it and will probably repurchase.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I hated this at first, but now I love it. I think it was because of the application. When I first bought this about a month ago I tried applying it with a brush, fingers, sponge, and hated it. It looked too thick and cakey. It accentuated all my fine lines and large pores. So I stuck it in the back of my drawer. Last week I gave it another chance. This time I used a damp sponge to apply it and I used a good moisturizer. It looked a lot more natural and made my face look smooth. I made sure not to use too much and it still covered all my redness and I didn't need to use concealer. I am NC 30 and use 240 warm golden. It's a good match but I wish it were a little more yellow. And I love the thick mousse consistency. Totally different from dream matte mousse and stuff like that. Lasts all day on my combo skin. EDIT: I found this was a little too pale for me so I bought Natural Tan to mix with this and it works great. It is a yellow toned shade. I could probably use Natrual Tan by itself when I am at my darkest (NC 35) but for now I mix about 50/50 of each shade. Actually a little more of Natural Tan. I have it mixed into a little container (a sample container from Sephora) so I can travel with it too.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Episencial Sunny Sunscreen SPF 35
rated 5 of 5
ah63 5/11/2012 4:19:00 PM

I saw this in Instyle magazine and was curious about it. I am a big fan of physical and more natural sunscreens and use sun protection on my face every day. I have been using Shiseido and MAC but they are pricey. I found this at my local health food store but it can be found online on its website or amazon. It is $15 for 4 oz. It is marketed for babies but I've seen other reviewers who also use this on their face as a daily sunscreen. I think it is more lightweight that other physical sunscreens I've used. It wears well under makeup. I have NC 30 skintone (light/medium) and I do notice a subtle white cast if I put a lot on. If I put it on sheer it the white cast quickly fades but that's something to keep in mind for medium skin tones. This doesn't dry my face out like the Shiseido ones did. Overall, I recommend this and will use it on me and my kids during the summer.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
rated 5 of 5
ah63 3/7/2012 7:24:00 AM

LOVE THIS!!! This really lasts all day without drying me out. I have very dry skin in the winter, combo in the summer. It has a natural finish that is neither too matte or dewey. The price is fantastic. I like it way better that Revlon colorstay and EL doublewear. I am about NC 27 or NC 30 depending on the season and I originally got shade 200. It looks dark in the tube but turned out to be too light for me so I went up to shade 202 which works way better. It's weird that shade 202 is only available at some stores (Walmart, wasn't even carried at Target). I have very strong yellow undertones so I wish they were yellower but they are actually not as pink as some Revlon and CG foundations. This beats out many of my high end foundations I have on hand (Dior Nude, EL DW, Lancome teinte Idole ultra). One small caveat is that the finish is a little tacky but I just brush on some powder (MUFE HD) and that takes care of it.

Moisturizers -Philosophy - Hope in a Jar for Dry, Sensitive Skin
rated 5 of 5
ah63 3/7/2012 7:06:00 AM

Every winter I have really dry, flaky skin which is also very sensitive and prone to redness. This is the only moisturizer that got rid of my horrible skin flakes. I use this every night and the spf version (for dry skin) in the morning. It does have an odd smell but it's not nearly as noticeable as the original. I highly recommend this for severely dry flaky skin.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Morning Frost
rated 5 of 5
ah63 11/18/2011 2:17:00 AM

This is a really pretty paint pot, and it's my first pp ever actually. I first noticed this online and checked it out in the store. The SA applied it on my lids and I thought it was a little too shimmery for my 33 yr old eyes but I bought it anyway. When I tried it at home I loved it. I don't put it all over my lid but more on the lower half and into the crease and I think it is very day appropriate. I don't have any other color like this it adds much needed brightness to my lids! Love the smooth texture and never creases. Highly recommend!

Lipstick -MAC - I love winter
rated 4 of 5
ah63 11/18/2011 2:08:00 AM

This lipstick is a limited-edition available only in the Iced Delights Lip Bag/Sultry for the 2011 Holiday collection. It also comes with lip pencil in Boldy Bare and Cremesheen glass in Deelight in a clear round bag for $38. This lipstick is a cremesheen formula which is my favorite of the lipstick formulations from MAC because of the richness in texture and color. This particular shade is a "medium passionfruit" color as described by mac's website. The only way I can describe it is a brighter and more coral version of Modesty, which is my favorite MAC lippie of all. I think I will use I Love Winter more in the spring. If it was available by itself I might repurchase but not the gift bag because the lip pencil didn't wow me. The gloss was great and this color is nice but I think Modesty suits me a little better.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Patina (Frost)
rated 5 of 5
ah63 9/29/2011 1:04:00 AM

I use this just about every day to blend darker lash-line colors or just on the lid for a natural look. I love it and I would have never chosen this myself, but it was recommended to me by a friend. I am NC 30 and it is sheer on me but I like a more natural look.

Shampoo -Dove - Energize Grapefruit and Lemongrass Shampoo
rated 1 of 5
ah63 2/28/2011 4:47:00 AM

This made my scalp itchy and dry!!! I was alternating this with another shampoo and thought the other shampoo was drying me out. Well, then I ran out of this and started using Pantene every day. With the Pantene my scalp and hair felt fabulous! I then bought Dove again and my itchy scalp came back within a week. Well now I know never to buy this Dove shampoo again! And the conditioner wasn't great either. I'm sticking to Pantene for thick hair.

Lips -MAC - Pro Longwear - Till Tomorrow
rated 5 of 5
ah63 10/7/2010 6:12:00 PM

This is my first (and only) pro longwear lipcreme. I chose this one because I really like neutral, everyday colors. My everyday, go-to lipcolor before this was Modesty, which is a very similar color. I like Till Tomorrow a little better because the color is more mauve, a tad darker, and lasts longer. I have used this everyday for about a week and it lasts a long time. Through workouts, eating, drinking, etc. I've noticed that oily foods (i.e. oily salad dressings) break it down and it needs to be reapplied. I can see how some might be bothered by the slight tacky/filmy feeling. I'd rather have something that lasts a long time though. Also, I've topped this lightly with gloss and it still lasts a long time and it helps with the lack of moisture. This is a new staple for me!

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
rated 5 of 5
ah63 5/17/2010 3:20:00 PM

I love this! I've used it for about 5 years. I primarily got it to hide my large pores. But now I use it to help my makeup look less shiny. I guess I realized that nothing will make my huge pores disappear, LOL. My skin has gotten drier as the years go by, and I have VERY dry skin in winter and combo/oily in the summer. So I cannot use this in winter because it dries out my skin too much. But now that the temp is warming up I need it, and love it. I put a small amount all over my face after moisturizer, then foundation. The result skin that feels and looks smooth and silky. And it really helps me out with shine and oil.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist DNA superstructure UV cream SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
ah63 4/18/2010 8:34:00 PM

This is my first Regenerist product and I have to say I am very pleased. I have tried creams from Estee Lauder and Lancome and the quality of this cream is up to par with the expensive ones. It moisturizes really well, without being greasy. My foundation goes on really smoothly with this on. Really brightens my skin and protects it as well. I love that it has a pump dispenser, however I wish I could see how much product is left in there. I love this and will be repurchasing!
