Tinted Moisturizer -Clinique - Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF15
rated 2 of 5
abelharainha 10/24/2011 1:56:00 PM

First of all I'm very impressed with all the good reviews this product is getting. I don't like a bit and I'm happy I haven't bought the full size. The product It is supposed to be a tinted moisturiser with outstanding moisturising abilities, hence the name. It's oil free and has SPF 15. My experience I was offered a trial size in shade 2, neutral. The very first thing I've noticed was the terrible smell. It really smells very bad. And it lingers... Ew. Despite being very picky about smells, I'd consider buying the full size and using it as my daily foundation or tinted moisturiser if it was as good as I expected. Or at least decently good. The second day I used this I looked in the mirror closely and realised this gave me a lame, boring, dull colour and made me look like I was really tired or something. The second day I looked in a mirror outside the house and noticed my face (usually pale with slighty yellow/golden undertones) had become an orangey-pinky weird colour... Ew... Again. If that wasn't enough my face was very oily. Three times ew! Needless to say I gave it up and I'm never using it again. The bottom line I don't recommend this product to combination skin, to people sensitive to strong (and bad) smells, and to all the yellow toned girls out there. Clinique foundations have never matched my skin tone, are always too dark and too pink but I was naive enough to believe this would be different. Also I reckon all Clinique foundations have an artificial, strong smell.... I also don't think this is moisturising for that matter. As it is a TM, I used it without moisturising first and I still got oily skin by the end of the day so I guess only very dry skins (or normal skins in winter) could use this over moisturiser. So this doesn't do a good job neither as a moituriser or as foundation. This is a total waste of time and effort. And money. Looking oily, pink and stinking isn't nice at all.... And it's expensive too!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
rated 3 of 5
abelharainha 10/14/2011 6:38:00 PM

"Colossal"? Not that much... This mascara comes in a catchy yellow tube with bold letters on it, and looks really "colossal"... Promises to give "colossal" volume but if you're looking for really full and impressive lashes I advise you to pick something else or you could get disapointed... In a "Colossal" way... (Sorry, I just can't help it!). Jokes aside, this is just an average mascara and therefore the name is absolutely misleading. I'd say the effect this one provides is quite descret. It doesn't smudge or flake though, so it's not that bad. Even considering the fact that it doesn't last a lot, I mean by the end of the day my lashes don't look that right.... They don't look bad but the once low profile effect becomes even less noticeable as the day progresses. I guess this happens with most average mascaras. I get disappointed with most mascaras anyway, because I really like mascaras and always expect too much. Off course it doesn't help that models use fake lashes in adds and still brands want to convinces us we'll get lashes like those with just a coat of mascara. Two or three coats later you get nice lashes (with an average mascara) or terrible, ugly, clumpy lashes (with poor ones). Either way, far from those in the adds. I would reccommend this mascara for someone who wants to add a little bit of colour and glam to the lashes, in a very natural way since this is not buildable at all. It only works fine with ONE coat.

Treatments (Eye) -La Roche Posay - Active C Eye Cream
rated 1 of 5
abelharainha 10/6/2011 7:32:00 PM

If I could rate this as "the most terrible thing ever to have touched my eye area" I would. Just like the face cream (Active c for normal to combination skin) that I tried this sucks. So, first of all the package is lame. I'd be willing to cope with that if the product weren't so ridiculous. The consistency is very watery, seems to have no effect at all, doesn't brighten the eye area skin, doesn't even moisturises properly. But the worst, and beware cause I'm about to tell you something beyond imagination, it gave me a hudge pimple in my eye contour. Just like those you get on your chin or forehead in puberty. I'm freakin 27 and never ever did I get a pimple in my eye contour!!!! It's so big and nasty, and is here for more than 2 weeks... Also have a big pimple on my chin due to the active c face cream that is here for me than 3 weeks and other one close to my ear... That's right.... On my temple.... And lots and lots of blacked heads and large, dirty pores... I am absolutely sure this happened due to this amazing line.... I had to throw them away and I'm pissed. I look like someone who does not care for her skin at all and never used a face wash or a toner in her life. Please stay away from this line. La Roche Posay?? NEVER AGAIN

Cleansers -Garnier - Clean Detox Anti-Dullness Foaming Gel
rated 3 of 5
abelharainha 10/6/2011 7:18:00 PM

I bought this cleanser some months ago. With Summer just around the clock I wanted a cleanser that would cope with my oily T-zone. My skin is something between normal and combination in the winter but in the summer it tends to get oily in my t-zone. What appealed to me was the fact that it claimed to be brightening as my skin was lacking radiance and looking quite dull. This has a gel consistency and smells very fresh. At first I liked the smell very much, later I was only ok with it, but now it sometimes bugs me. But I guess that's just me beeing picky. I have a thing with smells anyway... Either way, the smell doesn't linger so it's ok. Although it smells fresh, I don't notice a special freshness or radiance enhacing properties per se. Does a good job in cleaning but leaves my skin a tad tight and won't control the oil. I don't wear a lot of makeup only a tinted moisturiser or sometimes a little bit of foundation and this washes it off. For removing mascara I used something else because I believe this sort of cleansers weren't made for eye are, despite what they claim in the package. Speaking of package, I like that this has got a pump in it. The package is very nice considering the low price. Even though this does a decent job at cleansing I won't buy again. Here's why: - The smell started to bug me - My face is tight after using it (not as badly as with other brands I've used but I am looking for something else); - Haven't noticed any kind of radiance improvement or any kind of improvement at all. I guess this is ok for those with normal, combination or oily skin that are not looking for that squeecky clean effect or for an oil control cleanser. Basically this is just a very basic ok cleanser. The search continues!

Treatments -La Roche Posay - La Roche Posay Active C for dry skin
rated 1 of 5
abelharainha 9/28/2011 6:21:00 AM

Well, I don't know where to start. First of all, I must say I had really high hopes on this one. I always liked LRP products and consider this brand to be safe and appropiate to sensitive skin. I read wonderful things about this cream and since I needed a night cream, I had to try it.It has no spf and is said to make skin look brighter and fight and prevent the first wrinkles. My skin had been somewhat dull, so I believed this would do wonders for my skin. Well, I was wrong!!! My skin is combination although in the winter it tends to be more normal than combination and in hot summer is tends to have oily days. I used this cream in hot summer. When I first opened up the tube, I noticed a weird and unpleasant smell. I'd describe this as having a light texture and no colour. So, I put in on my face and that smell was really bugging me because it was strong and lingered!!! I'd wake up in the morning and my sheets, my pillows would smell like Vita C!!! That would be ok if that smell was pleasant but no, it smells like oranges but not in a good way. It doesn't smell like a Body Shop orange body butter, wich would be lovely despite being to strong to use in the face, it smells more like a fake orange smell. And as I stated before, this smelll lingers and lingers.... Ew.... Then I also realized this cream left my face looking shiny and in the morning I would look really oily... And would stink. Looool. I payed 24 euros for this so I was willing to do my best to like it. And so I kept on using for three weeks. At first I felt like this nothing for my face but then I broke out terribly. I break out once in a while, a small bump, no big deal. But with this, I broke out like when I was in my teens!!! In the first week of use I got a pimple that was so big and in a place I never broke up before and that would hurt like hell. I though that bump was due to a new foundation I was wearing and stopped using that foundation but kept on using the cream. So after a few days I got several pimples on my chin. I though it was still due to the use of the foundation although by then I was no longer using it. Yoo see, I thought the foundation had caused some sort or allergy. A week later I got more pimples on my chin and hugde, giant black heads all over my face. I even got a black head close to my left eye. Can you believe it??? Then I went to a friend's house for 2 days and forgot to take this cream with me and her creams are very heavy for my skin (her skin is very dry) and so I used no cream for those days. Oh well, 2 days away from this and my skin got so much better!!! I was petrify to realize that this cream was the reason to my horrid, pimples. My skin is now clearing but I am very disapointed because in the bottle it said it was for sensitive normal to combination skin. I chose the right type for my skin, so I can't believe it caused me so much stress, days and days of me feeling ashamed of leaving the house and I still have marks caused by the pimples, still have some pimples, and God knows when will I get rid of the blackheads and large pores. My pores were not small, but this made them look much larger and darker, totally GROSS like I don't wash my face or something. I think this product would be suitable for dry skin only, but even for dry skin I would not recommend it at all because of the ridiculous smell. I understand this must be due to the vitamin C in it but what I say to LRP is "If you can't make a vitamin C that is bearable jus don't". I advise u combination girls, not to mention oily girls, to stay away from this. Terrible stuff, the worst I've ever tried in my whole life. I've tried lots of creams that do nothing but a few that ruin my skin. And this sure ruined my skin. So bad!!!! The packaging is also ridiculous. Save your money and stay the hell away from this!!! PLEASE NOTE that I'm reviewing the one that is "for sensitive normal to combination skin" one.

Fragrances -Escada - Marine Groove

Yes, I would buy this product again but unfortunately it was a limited edition for Summer 2010. I bought a 100ml bottle and I used it durinbg winter too. This fragance is sweet yet fresh, young, delicate, fruity (but I don't smell as if I just made a raspberry pie lool). It's suitable not only for Summer althought it really smells like a cosy, warm day.... Lovely. The lasting power is ok. Got tons of compliments, too!

Treatments -Pantene - Repair and Protect Intensive Treatment
rated 2 of 5
abelharainha 7/25/2011 3:50:00 PM

I would not buy this product again because: - it promises things it doesn't deliver; - hair feels heavy; - hair feels smoother but in the next day it is very dry and looks dirty; - over time, you notice this is doing nothing for you hair but concealing the dryness for a couple of hours; - and finally, it's a huge waste of money, time and effort.

Shampoo -Pantene - Repair & Protect
rated 2 of 5
abelharainha 7/25/2011 3:46:00 PM

The "repair & protect" line is very popular over here (in Europe). It promises to get rid of damaged hair (in some bottles you can even read "change your hair within only 15 days"- yeah, right!... loool). So I decided to give this a try since my hair was somewhat dry in the ends and also a little damaged. I used this along with the deep treatment (masque), wish I intend to review later. This has the same exact smell of the classic Pantene shampoo and is basic the same but with a heavier feeling. It felt ok at first but I soon started to notice it caused me dandruff and itchy scalp! Outch! Besides that, it leaves hair so limp and with a weird residue... And althought hair seems smother and more hydrated, the next day it feels straw like. I am disapointed with Pantene. I havent't tried a single product from this Brand that worked for me and I'm not the worst costumer with world! I mean, wavy fine hair is not that hard to manage.... I was forced to toss it and it took me ages to get rid of the dandruff (wich I usually don't have)..... A waste of money....

Conditioner -Pantene - Pantene Smooth and Sleek Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
abelharainha 7/25/2011 3:29:00 PM

This conditioner is supposed to give you sleek hair... LOOOL. I sitll wonder why do I always for that... Seriously?! Loool I used this along with the shampoo and and I noticed no difference in my hair at all (my hair's wavy but easy to straighten). Not only these two don't make hair straighter or smother it also leaves hair feeling dirty and straw like.

Shampoo -Pantene - Nature Fusion Moisture Balance
rated 2 of 5
abelharainha 7/25/2011 3:18:00 PM

My hair is fine and wavy. If I use a lame shampoo it tends to get frizzy. And that's what happened with this shampoo. My hair got frizzy and limp, as if it was not properly clean- never again! The only good thing about it- smells delicious.

Treatments (Eye) -Nivea - Q10 Plus Wrinkle Control Eye Cream
rated 1 of 5
abelharainha 5/1/2011 11:37:00 AM

Hey guys! I am reviewing the roll on version of this eye treatment. It has the same ingredients, I guess but the package is different and as the name suggests it has a roll-on. Nivea claims this treatement will reduce fine lines and puffiness.... Well, does it work?! Unfortunately, not. I don't have fine lines yet but I doubt that a cream that doesn't even provide decent moisture could do anything, and I mean, anything about the lines or wrinkles.... I also don't have severe pufiness or dark cicles (only once in a while, when I ask for it... lool) so I also can't comment on that aspect. But I believe a treatement that leaves my skin feeling so fragile and lacking moisture is a big waste of money and time, after all moisture should be the main aim of any cream.... Right?

Shampoo -Schwarzkopf - Bonacure Color Save Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
abelharainha 3/19/2011 8:39:00 AM

This shampoo is very gentle and has no sufaltes. Schawrzkopf claims this formulation has the abilty to hold color untill thirty washes.... whilst repairing hair... Well, that's a lot of promises for a simple shampoo, right? LOOL OK, jokes aside, I am now going to descibre my experience with this sulfate-free shampoo. Well, first of all, as all sulfate-free shampoos, it does not lather properly. You have to use a hudge amount of this in order to obtain a substancial lather, wich is wrong. I mean, let's face it, we all know a sulfate-free shampoo won't provide loads of lather. No sulfates, less lather. The other thing I don't particularly like about this shampoo is the smell. It's just... weird, I guess... Wich is just too bad because I absolutely love the way my hair feels after using this. My hair feels well moisturised, shiny and extremely light! Fortunatelly the smell doesn't linger... looool Anyway, I can't tell if this really holds the color that much, because I only color my hair now and then and I also alternate shampoos. About the repairing factor, well I don't believe a shampoo is capable of such thing as repairing hair. So, I recommend it to sulfate-free lovers, because this is really good. The quality of this is remarkable and you won't regret buying it!!!

Foundations -Maybelline - Affinitone
rated 3 of 5
abelharainha 3/16/2011 5:40:00 PM

This foundation claims to adjust to your natural skin color, therefore providing a natural and perfect finish.... and it doesn't contain oil. Does this adjust to your skin tone? Sure, like any other medium quality foundation out there. So, nothing new here! My experience.... I always go for oil free foundations, because I believe they suit my skin better. I also believe that if we want (and we should) our skin to be properly moisturised, we need a good moisturiser. There's no such thing as a foundation that can actually replace a good moisturiser. I particurarly like the color range, I guess there's a right color for everyone and all of them seem to very beautiful and natural. I picked "dark beige" and it really fits my medium skin (not too pale, not olive either). I think this foundation is very easy to use and the results are great, but, unfortunatelly they only last for a few hours. If I want my skin to look flawless all day long, I am forced to use some other foundation because I am aware this won't do the trick. Besides that, the quality of the package if very poor! So, would I recommend this? Maybe for very dry skin, this would do the trick. But for normal, combo or worst, oily skin, I don't recommend it at all.

Moisturizers -Garnier - Skin Naturals Light Moisturizing Cream SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
abelharainha 3/10/2011 2:57:00 PM

I never thought I would like this that much, but I did! This is a light yet very moisturising cream that is easy and pleasant to use. Plus, it has SPF (could be higher though)... The only downside is the smell.... Lovely, but too overpowering for a face cream... And that's the only reason I won't buy again.
