Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask

I'm not sure if this mask is the culprit, or if it was the honey I was using at the same time..but my skin EXPLODED in breakouts from either/and/or. I think it was the honey, but I've tried this mask before and it didn't do much at all, it was messy, and I'd rather just go without it. I haven't touched honey or aspirin to my face since my horrible breakout, and my skin has cleared up tremendously. Either way, the aspirin mask doesn't do anything for me..

Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15

This is a great powder foundation. I have to mix the first and second shade together to get a match (which isn't hard; I just swirl my brush in one compact and then in the other), but I'm okay with that. It provides medium coverage, which can hide most of my blemishes lightly, and then I cover the others with concealer. As others have mentioned, it doesn't do much for oil control; I use MAC Blot powder under and over it lightly, but may have to reapply that at least once if I'm out and about for the whole day. I like that this is quick and easy to apply. I use my Bare Minerals Flawless Face big powder brush to apply.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
rated 4 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 8/10/2008 8:23:00 PM

Probably the best moisturizer I've ever used, but it's still not perfect.. My Skin: Combination to the extreme, being both flaky dry and shiny throughout the day at the same time. It's also acne-prone and sensitive. I don't like that I can only find this product in a big tub; I'd like to find it in the tube form. I thought for sure this cream would make me break out horribly, but it doesn't (the Cetaphil Hydrating Lotion in the tube seems to), This makes my skin look a bit greasy, so before I put makeup on my face I blot my skin with a tissue. Hence, I'm looking for a moisturizer that will hydrate my skin without making it oily-lookng. I use a plastic spoon to scoop out the moisturizer each time I use it, and wash off the spoon after each use as well. I really need to find it in a tube.. Also, I'm using the regimen on acne.org, so the fact that this cream seems to ball up a bit on my face is likely due to the fact that there's so much benzoyl peroxide on it beforehand.

Lotions/ Creams -Cetaphil - Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion For Dry Sensitive Skin
rated 2 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 8/10/2008 5:10:00 AM

I was disappointed with this product,,, My Skin: Combination to the extreme, being very dry and very oily at the same time and in the same spots; it's crazy. Sensitive & breakout-prone as well. Ugh. I went for this product because was using the Cetaphil Cream, which I can only find in a big tub. I wanted a moisturizer in a tube or pump form, so I tried this. The product claims to be non-greasy, but it made my skin look waaaay greasier than Cetaphil Cream ever did. Also, my skin keeps subtly breaking out and it may be because of this product. Whether or not it's the cause of this random breakout I'm having, I won't continue use because of the greasiness and the fact that it doesn't moisturize my skin very well,

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Full Colour Eye Definer - Pine 231
rated 3 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 11/9/2007 5:30:00 PM

LOVE this eyeliner. Makes my dark green/hazel eyes look gorgeous. I wore it yesterday & someone complimented it (& who compliments on makeup that much anyway?). I apply it right below my lower lashes and smudge it a tiny bit. I like to pair it with dark brown mascara & sometimes some eyeshadow(s) in brown shades. Oh, and the green shade also [greatly] compliments my golden/strawberry blonde hair & fair skin. Highly recommened for anyone with my coloring =) *EDIT* (12/29/07)--- This eyeliner doesn't last long enough. It fades too fast & then the beautiful color is gone =(

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rated 2 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 10/23/2007 4:46:00 PM

I gave in to the pretty packaging and cool commercials =). I bought the lightest shade for my NC15-(maybe)NC20 skin. The lightest shade is suuuuuuuper yellow! I didn't mind it so much, since I have pink undertoned skin & the yellow can make it look more neutral undertoned. I think they could make it a more natural color though. Overall, this foundation is VERY hard to work with. As numerous others have stated, dry spots will stand out & look blotchy. It's very hard to blend, even if I moisturize generously beforehand and use a wet cosmetic sponge to apply it. If you work really hard, you can get a beautiful, airbrushed finish, but it takes a LOT of work & time to get it, so it's almost not worth it. Other foundations can give you a pretty face without all of that work.

Crème -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Cream Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 10/17/2007 5:02:00 PM

The best foundation I've used so far I think. I have combination, sensitive, and breakout-prone skin that is fair with pink undertones...so finding a color match for me is a laugh. The lightest shade of this foundation is a pretty good match. Not perfect, but good. My skin doesn't seem to breakout with this foundation, which is a must. I really don't like the sparkles in it. No, it's not shimmer....*Sparkles*. If I try to use a little bit more foundation in one spot of my face to cover up imperfections, there ends up being 10 giant pieces of glitter there that I have to smooth out so it's not obvious, & then the coverage I was trying to build is lost. If the sparkles were not in this foundation, I'd like it a LOT more. *EDIT* (12/29/07) --- I think this foundation makes my skin break out. I didn't change anything in my daily routine except I went back to using this foundation (I had been using MAC Studio Fix Powder/Foundation for a while) and I got like 5 new blemishes. It's not my period because I just stopped that happy time about a week ago so my skin is usually clearing up by now. I love the coverage and dewy look it gives me, but I'm not willing to have blemishes for it..

Other -Kiss My Face - Kiss My Face Whitening Toothpaste
rated 1 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 8/25/2007 3:08:00 PM

I seem to be the only one who's disappointed in this product so far. I really did not like it! The taste was horrible (shudders) & I actually dreaded brushing my teeth because of it. This green gel toothpaste barely sudded up & it made me feel like I wasn't getting my teeth clean. Whitening? Didn't notice that. If anything, my teeth became less white when using this. I stuck with it until the tube was almost gone, but I couldn't stand it anymore so I tossed it & got Crest Whitening Expressions in the lemon flavor. Much better flavor IMO. I'm glad this works for other people because this Kiss My Face toothpaste was definitely Not for me.

Eye Shadow -Flirt - Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow in Golden Lady
rated 5 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 8/25/2007 12:53:00 AM

Wow. This eyeshadow is SO pretty! When I first tried it on at Kohl's (the only place I know of that sells Flirt makeup) it looked super dark & way too much for me so I rubbed it off my lids. Then I applied it under my eyes kind of as a liner & it looked beautiful so I bought it. Today I tried this shadow on using an actual eyeshadow brush from Sephora & it looked absolutely *stunning*! I put it all over my lids & below my eyes & then applied some mascara & it looked gorgeous. I would recommend not using those stupid little "eyeshadow appliers" that come with eyeshadows & use an actual brush. Also, Urban Decay Primer Potion is necessary to keep the creasing away! I love this shadow & will be seen using it more often. [golden blonde hair, hazel/dark green eyes, fair (NC15) & freckled skin]

Fragrances -Chanel - No.5
rated 1 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 7/31/2007 6:42:00 PM

I was hoping I'd like this perfume, seeing as it's considered classy & all. I test sprayed it though (the EDP) & it smelled like mix between old lady & a public bathroom. Seriously. Do they spray public bathrooms with Chanel No.5? I doubt it. Unfortunately, I really did not like the smell of this. I really like Coco Mademoiselle though, so I picked that up instead.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum Express Mascara
rated 4 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 7/30/2007 7:26:00 AM

This is one of the better mascaras I've tried. I won't say it's my favorite or "HG" just yet, but I'll update later on. It doesn't do TONS for volume, but it definitely give my lashes some oomph. I think it's common sense to use a lash brush with a volumizing mascara (or maybe any mascara really) because it's going to try to stick your lashes together for volume a bit. Obviously you don't want spider eyes, but you want some volume too. Use a lash comb & start at the middle of the lashes & comb all the way up. This will seperate the lashes without getting rid of any volume near the roots of the lashes. I hope that clears up the "This mascara clumps!" accusations. I have blonde eyelashes, so I use this in brownish-black & find it's the best color for me. I tried black mascara once & it looked super fakey & weird on me. This mascara is quite wet at first, so it tends to smudge all over my eyelid when applying. Q-tips are the answer of course. I don't find much flaking throughout the day with this mascara though. I think it adds oomph to my lashes without a super high price tag, although there are a few minor set backs (need a lash comb & smudges during application). My eyelashes really do look great with this mascara though =) I like it.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 4 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 7/24/2007 2:31:00 AM

I love vaseline! Keep in mind this isn't really a moisturizer...like others have been mentioning, it's a sealant. You put on a good moisturizer & then some vaseline on to seal that moisture in. Vaseline is great for quite a few things: -Dry skin from benzoyl peroxide spot treatment. I dab this stuff on after a moisturizer to help rid of the dryness. -Eyelashes! I've been using vaseline on my eyelashes for over a year now & it makes them healthy, which gives them the potential to grow their thickest & longest. Not to mention they look super shiny & conditioned! I apply the vaseline to my lashes at night. You don't want to put it on before applying makeup because the mascara won't stick. -Lips. Vaseline protects my lips from getting chapped & gives them a subtle shine without looking all glossy & made up. It makes my lips look natural & healthy. -Feet & hands. Everyone knows about slathering vaseline on dry feet/hands & putting socks over them overnight right!? It works! I HATED the vasline in a little tub, but luckily when I visited my local CVS, they had 100% petroleum jelly in a squeezable tube in the dollar basket section! No more dipping my bacteria-filled fingers into this goop! I highly recommend the tube. UPDATE(10-29-08): I think this makes my skin break out..? I never thought it did before, and my skin was reeeaaally dry last week, so I started mixing it with my facial moisturizer, and althought it made my skin look very glowy and smooth, I just got 3 new pimples on my chin area, so it's either the vaseline, or my lovely Time of the Month Breakout isn't over yet.. I guess it makes sense that this would clog your pores, though, right?

Concealers -Physicians Formula - Conceal RX
rated 3 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 7/20/2007 12:59:00 PM

The color is almost perfect on me, but I notice it's kind of dry and cakey, or at least it becomes that way throughout the day. It may work well if your skin is very oily or if used with the right foundation, but it just looks too unnatural on my skin..

Pressed Powders -Revlon - Age Defying Translucent Finishing Powder with Botafirm [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 7/18/2007 6:42:00 PM

My favorite pressed powder is MAC Select Sheer, but I ran out & needed something great to use until I got my MAC in the mail. This stuff IS great! I need something that suits my NC15-NC20, combination/slightly sensitive, blemish-prone skin, & this powder was very nice! My skin is so picky & it's hard to get a color match, so I was very impressed with this pressed powder. The packaging is light & compact, but sort of cheap. I like red though, so that's a plus, haha. I'm not sure that this causes any breakouts since I only used it for a short time, but I highly doubt it does. I'll use this whenever my MAC is not on hand!

Concealers -Revlon - ColorStay Under Eye Concealer
rated 2 of 5
abeautifulhaunting 7/9/2007 8:34:00 PM

I tried Revlon ColorStay Concealer in the blemish covering formula. At first I tried it in the Light shade, but I found that was too dark & orangy on my NC15/NC20 skin. I found that they have this in a Fair shade, so I gave this a try the other day. It looked pretty good in artificial lighting, but when I saw it in real sunlight, it looked very unnatural... kind of dark or something. It was covering the blemish, sort of, but the red/purplish shade of the blemish would shine right through in sunlight. I don't really like concealers to have SA( salicylic acid) in them either, because it tends to dry out the skin a lot since I'm already using benzoyl peroxide on the blemish. Salicylic acid doesn't work to clear up my skin anyway. Can't find a color match, not big on the SA thing, & it didn't even seem to cover when I got in the natural light. Not so great..
