Shampoo -Neutrogena - Triple Moisture cream lather shampoo
rated 5 of 5

I think this is a great shampoo. Does a great job of getting rid of styling products, leaves my hair moist and smooth, keeps my color from fading and makes it look thicker. I also use the Triple Moisture conditioner, and my hair hasn't felt or looked this good in a very long time.

Conditioner -Neutrogena - Triple Moisture daily deep conditioner

This product has been a godsend for my hair. As I've gotten older my hair has changed, and not for the better. I had pretty much given up on the conditioners that in the past had worked for me, so I was thrilled when I found this one. It makes my hair smooth, moisturized, doesn't weigh it down and makes my hair look thicker. Combined with the Triple Moisture shampoo my hair looks and feels better than it has in a very long time.

Cleansers -Skin effects by Dr. Jeffrey Dover - Glycolic Cream Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 3/7/2012 11:23:00 PM

After reading the good reviews of this product I decided to give it a try. I have been using the Skin Effects self-foaming cleanser for years (I still use it a.m.) but thought the glycolic cleanser would be a good product to use at night. This cleanser has made my skin much smoother. I have experienced no irritation and can even use it on my neck which is particularly sensitive. It has even made my hands look better. It has also helped to clear up forehead bumps that I have had for what seems like forever. A little goes a long way, so even though it's more expensive than a lot of drugstore cleansers, in the end it really isn't that expensive.

Toners -Equate - Rejuvenating Toner
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 3/7/2012 11:13:00 PM

This is supposed to be a dupe of the ProActive toner. Since I have never used that brand I have no idea if it is an exact dupe, but I think it's a great glycolic toner. I like to add actives into my skin care with toners so I don't have to add another cream or lotion. This is alcohol free, and despite having very sensitive skin, I have found this to be totally non-irritating. I can use it on my neck too which is normally much too sensitive for anything with glycolic acid. The price is great too - I paid $4.18 for 4 ozs.

Treatments -TRESemme - Split Remedy Leave-In Conditioning Spray
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 3/7/2012 10:50:00 PM

There is finally an ingredient that actually does mend split ends. I had seen an article about it, and three products were mentioned that contained this ingredient. Two were high end, and Tresemme was the drugstore brand. There was also a link to a YouTube video showing how when a drop of the ingredient was applied to a split end the two sections snapped back together and stayed that way. Even though I don't have split ends because my hair is short, and I get frequent cuts, I figured that if it could do that it would help to make my hair smoother. It does indeed do that. What I really found amazing was how much volume and body it gives to my hair. For my purposes it's one of the best styling products I have ever found. I do about 10 sprays into my hand (this works best since it does not come out as a fine spray) work it through my hair, add a little styling cream, and the results are amazing. My hair is smooth, has tons of volume and looks very healthy. There is a full line - shampoo, conditioner, this spray, a serum and a cream. This product is definitely an HG for me, and I love the fact that it was only $5.

Lip Liners -Studio Gear - Lip liner
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 5/31/2011 10:56:00 AM

I love this lip liner! Years ago I bought a Cosmetic Impressions liner and fell in love with it, so of course I could never find it again. Ever since then I have been searching for something as good, and I finally found it with this liner. It's creamy, smooth, non-drying and delivers great color. I like to use liner all over my lips and most are too drying, but not this one. Definitely an HG for me.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Vitapointe
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 4/19/2011 2:11:00 PM

Although this product has been around for many years, I recently discovered it because it was on clearance at Walgreens, and I figured it was worth a try even though I had tried so many other products and had never gotten the results I wanted. I was never happy with silicone products, and oils, no matter how little I used, always seemed to make my hair greasy. This product gives the hair incredible shine, makes it as smooth as glass, doesn't make hair go flat, and unless you use too much is never greasy. It's a light cream that disappears into the hair. It's basically a mixture of mineral oil, water and beeswax and is the best thing I have ever found to make my hair look healthy, moisturized and smooth. It works on all types of hair, and you need only a little bit for wonderful results. Walgreens no longer carries it in their stores, but they do have it online, the smallest size can be found at Sally's, and various sizes are available on Amazon.

Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 4/15/2011 3:49:00 PM

I had read that silica powder was a great mattifier, but I was put off by the price of most of the ones I saw. When I found out that E.L.F. had one for $6 I just had to try it. It instantly mattifies but doesn't leave the skin looking or feeling dry. Because it has virtually no texture it doesn't make lines and wrinkles more apparent, in fact it seems to diminish their appearance somewhat. It gives my skin a glow that isn't at all shiny. It mattifies for most of the day and can easily be reapplied over makeup because it is so lightweight. This is something I will buy again and again.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
rated 4 of 5
abbyten 2/3/2011 9:33:00 AM

This works well as a primer, although not as well as Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I have discovered, though, that it works wonderfully as a highlighter/light concealer. I have a little bit of darkness under the eyes and on the inner corners, but most concealers are too heavy and make what crepiness I have look worse. This is lightweight enough that it just glides on, makes the entire eye area look much brighter and doesn't make wrinkles look worse. I've never tried Touche Eclat, but I have a feeling that this accomplishes the same thing at a fraction of the price.

Cleansers -Skin effects by Dr. Jeffrey Dover - Cleansing Effects Gentle Foaming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 11/2/2010 2:13:00 PM

I have used this cleanser for some time and continue to love it. I have oily sensitive skin, and this works great for me. Never irritates nor dries my skin. I can also use this on my eyes after removing eye makeup with mineral oil with no irritation. It's also a great bargain at $6.99.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
rated 4 of 5
abbyten 7/17/2010 4:08:00 PM

I wish I could use this all over my face, but I tend to clog from certain silicones, so I use this around my eyes, on my nose and on my lips. For those areas this primer is great. It helps to smooth fine lines around my eyes and makes my shadow pop. It helps tame the oiliness of my nose, and I don't have to blot or for hours. It makes my lips so smooth and liner and lipstick just glide on. I would much prefer a tube, and I do think if I was to use this all over it would be too expensive, but for the areas I use it on it should last for some time.

Conditioner -Suave - Professionals Humectant Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 4/13/2010 10:39:00 PM

My hair loves this conditioner. I am licensed and can buy salon products at half off, and so far this is the best conditioner I have found. Leaves my hair smooth, moisturized and easy to manage at an unbeatable price. Certainly as good as any of the salon brands I have tried, and in many cases much better. Can't beat the price either.

Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Short Sexy Hair FRENZY Bulked-Up Texture
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 3/3/2010 11:59:00 AM

If you want to look like you have tons of hair when you really don't, this is the stuff that will do it. I use this on damp hair and then blow dry. It's like I have 10 times more hair than I started with. It leaves my hair soft but with tons of volume and it looks much thicker. It also washes out easily so there is no buildup. Just a little bit is needed, so even though it's not inexpensive, it's well worth it for me.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
abbyten 7/14/2009 12:38:00 PM

I have used UDPP for years and thought it was great. There were problems with it - the packaging and the fact that it could make lids somewhat wrinkly - but I had never found anything that worked so well until I decided to give Shadow Insurance a try. The packaging is much better than UDPP, and the tiny opening in the tip makes it easy to apply a small amount to each lid. I love the fact that is smooths my lids instead of making them look wrinkly, and I have found that it works every bit as well as UDPP with helping my eye makeup last all day. I also find it much easier to blend shadows over Shadow Insurance, and it really makes my eye makeup pop. I am definitely a convert!!

Lotions/ Creams -Suave - Suave Sensitive Skin Fragrance Free
rated 1 of 5
abbyten 12/6/2008 5:19:00 PM

I have been using and loving Olay Quench fragrance free for a long time. It must be discontinued because I can no longer find it. Because money is really tight right now I picked up the Suave hoping it would be a good substitute. It seemed to have decent ingredients, and it was fragrance free. The only word I can use to describe it is - YUCK!! It is not fragrance free. I'm not sure if they use a masking fragrance but it smells of musk - a smell which I absolutely abhor. It goes on nicely but then seems to be dry and sticky at the same time. I only used it on my arms, realized how abominably bad it was and tossed it in the trash. I'm just glad I only wasted $3.00.
