Eye Shadow -MAC - Grain
Zabby 3/22/2012 3:20:00 PM
I got this as a Back to MAC which is unfortunate because I can't return it. The texture is terrible. I cannot get the colour to show up on me (NC15-20). With primer, without primer, wet, or dry. Nothing. It is a complete waste. I'm starting to expect this hit-or-miss experience from MAC eyeshadows, in terms of texture/pigmentation issues. Its great that they have so many colours but whats the point if they wont show up on the lid? MAC will not be a go-to for eyeshadow for me in the future.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Eden
Zabby 3/22/2012 3:17:00 PM
Does exactly what it is supposed to do: prevents my eyeshadow from creasing, ALL day. I have semi oily lids. MAC Paint Pots crease within 2 hours on me. Excellent packaging now that it comes in tubes. There is a pale yellow colour to this and it is very matte. It does not interact with the colour of my eyeshadow and change it. I love wearing this knowing that my e/s will stay in place all day. And I only have to use a tiny dot so the price is reasonable. I plan to always have this in my makeup stash. HG!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Pressed Powder - Green Tint
Zabby 1/26/2012 10:02:00 AM
I've been wearing this powder for 3 days now. I have redness in my cheek area, so much so that even a medium-cover foundation cannot completely mask it, and make my cheeks match the rest of my face. I'm very happy with this powder. I put on my liquid foundation (Lancome Teinte Idole Ultra in Buff 2W), then I set it with my Eco Tools bronzer brush with this powder. It looks amazing. It actually takes out the red that the foundation cannot, but it doesnt leave that green tinge. HOWEVER, there is some white in this powder. This works well for me, because my liquid foundation is a tad dark for my skin. So this powder fixes that. But if you wore it over a bare face, or over foundation that was too light/matched well, then you may end up a little pale looking. My other concern is I do not know how well this foundation will photograph - there is Titanium Dioxide in mine, and Im not sure if maybe that will cause that ugly white cast in pictures. But for everyday wear, I love this (even though I usually turn my nose up at non high-end products!).

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Shy Girl
Zabby 10/27/2011 10:22:00 AM
Beautiful lipstick. I'm a fair warm toned girl (strong yellow undertones) and shy girl suites my skin type perfectly. My lips get dry and feathered easily so I wear a lip conditioner (MAC's conditioner at the moment, not that Im particularly loyal to it) and then put two swipes of Shy Girl on top. I get a really lovely, light peachy-pinky shade out of that. If I apply it directly to the lips, then the colour is stronger and really looks more peach - which is a fun look as well! Reasonable price for quality, nice smell, nice packaging.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
Zabby 10/27/2011 10:16:00 AM
Overall I think this palette is a great value for money purchase. As many have said, the amount of full eyeshadows you get for the price is generous. And the quality is amazing - so easy to blend, never chalky. I do wish there were more matte shadows in it, especially for a palette called Naked. This is my go-to palette for work and other times when I want a made up but very neutral toned down look. Glitter and sparkles aren't what Im looking for. One day I made the mistake of wearing Sidecar to work, applying it sparingly just to give my lids a little gold. I wont be making that mistake again. When I looked in the mirror after a few hours, my cheeks were covered in glitter. Covered. I just wanted to go home. And since I wear foundation, just wiping them off wasnt an option. And I did wear a primer that works for me. So now I hate that shade! The others have treated me very well though, and I have used them all in my makeup rotation, so overall great purchase!

Toners -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Face Mist
Zabby 8/10/2011 4:14:00 PM
The packaging quality is good and the product does help set my foundation and keep it from looking chalky. However, this stuff is FULL to the max with parabens. Ethyl, methyl, you name it! So no thanks to this vitamin e + cancer risk in a bottle. It's going to it's new home in the trash can tonight!

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Sympathy for the Skin
Zabby 8/10/2011 1:54:00 PM
I just got this two days ago and I absolutely love it already. It is thinner than I thought it would be, but it smooths on and absorbs into my skin very quickly. And leaves me with such soft and vanilla-smelling skin! I just love everything about it (except the price - paid $28CAD for mine with tax) so I will definitely be repurchasing. As a side note, when I bought it the SA at Lush said this was one of her very favourite products. I feel like they say that anytime I buy anything there!! Haha :)

Lipstick -NARS - Sexual Healing
Zabby 7/19/2011 1:48:00 PM
I feel as if Sexual Healing is getting a pretty big beating her on MUA! I went out to buy Promiscous, and ended up getting this instead (without consulting MUA which is rare for me). I actually have had it for about a month now and I really enjoy it. I think the issue here is that (1) the formula isnt the greatest, and (2) it will not suite many skin tones. I have a yellow/golden, leaning towards olive complexion, with hazel eyes and brown hair. I tend to look good in earthy/bronze shades of makeup. Sexual Healing suites my skin very well. It goes on as a muted red with purple undertones and visibile shimmer (not chunks of glitter). It does not look frosty on me, and it certainly does not wash me out, as its noticeably red. The formula is crap which is disappointing for this price point. It is much too dry, to the point where it is uncomfortable to apply. I moisturize first, always. Moisturizing first transfers some of my balm to the lipstick and helps lessen the dryness factor. If my skin tone sounds like yours, then I would recommend it. I would purchase another, although there are soooo many other brands and colours to try :)

Lips -MAC - Pure Magnificence
Zabby 7/9/2011 5:44:00 PM
Just bought this gloss and I'm already enjoying it very much. The formula feels great, I like that it's not at all sticky and feels comfortable on my lips. The colour is well pigmented, and definitely shows up on the lips instead of just giving a clear glossy appearance. It's a muted greyish/purplish pink which can probably be pulled off on a variety of skin tones. Great gloss overall!

Lip Gloss -Smashbox - Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss SPF 15 - Infinite
Zabby 5/20/2011 9:54:00 PM
I agree with the previous review about the pigmentation of this gloss, it's definitely between sheer and medium. It goes on my lips as a milky pinky beige color. It is very sticky but does last fairly long. It gives my lips a wet look which is all I really wanted, the nude colour is a bonus for my pigmented lips, as it helps tone them down. It has no glitter which was something I particularly wanted. I'm very pleased with this one!

Primer/ Corrector -LORAC - Oil-Free Neutralizer
Zabby 5/6/2011 10:53:00 AM
I've used this three times now. I completely agree with most of the reviews here - application is the key to happiness with this stuff. I squeeze a whole pump out (havent found the pump too bad actually) and combine it 1:1 with my moisturizer. Spread that on both my cheeks which have blotchy redness due to mild rosacea. I blend it in little circles like crazy, because it dries quickly. First time I put it on I didnt blend enough and WOW...I could see every streak. I'm fairly pale (NC15-20) so this colour doesnt make me look totally off. I do wear foundation over it (EL DW in Ecru for reference) and blend that with my fingers as well. I find this stuff absolutely corrects redness, better than any other product I've used. My redness doesnt peek through my foundation as it used to. And it makes a nice canvas for applying foundation, so I dont use a primer with it. After I put my DW on, I set with Laura Merciers translucent powder and I am very happy with my complexion, which I am pretty paranoid about due to my redness. I didnt give it a five only because its expensive and NOT a miracle product. If you're really red, you will still see some redness. And yeah, you could keep layering this on, but then you would just have a new problem - you would be freakishly pale and greenish-yellow. So if you have the money, and you'd like to improve your redness (not elimninate - improve) then I would absolutely recommend this.

Liquid -Cover FX - Cover FX - Natural FX
Zabby 5/3/2011 1:34:00 PM
I'm about a NC15-20 with redness that I'd like to cover. I have dry skin, so I thought it would not be a big deal that this has been reviewed as a grease-inducing product. I had an SA colour match me to E10. I have yellow undertones with redness to cover, so I was surprised that she did not use an M shade, and I mentioned that to her to no avail. I found that the E10 was too pinky on my face, and although I couldnt see a clear line on my jaw, I did see a clear colour difference in between face and neck when I looked in the mirror. I really wanted the heavy coverage in this product, but I was honestly underwhelmed by it. And it has a very odd texture on your face. Even with setting powder, it just feels so...tacky. Even on my dry skin. It made my skin weirdly shiny and fake looking. Needless to say, I dont think its worth the $40 at all and I took it back the next day. Im wearing EL Double Wear now, although I dont love the finish of it either. If anyone would like to suggest another high-coverage foundation for me to try, send me a message please :)

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
Zabby 4/28/2011 11:04:00 AM
I really like this blush. Its a light pinky-peachy colour with a little bit of sparkle; more on the pink side I would say. On my NC15-20 skin it doesn't look clownish and adds just a healthy glow of colour. I like to wear a pretty full foundation and I find that it makes me look a little bland, so I enjoy using this blush everyday to add some pretty colour back into my face. Its perfect for every work day for me, and I could go a bit heavier on it for going out. I found it pigmented but not so much so that its easy to overdo. The price is very reasonable considering one pan will probably last a year. And the packaging is excellent - sleek and functional. I would definitely buy this again. I think NARS has really gotten their blushes right.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Filament (lustre; GoLightly)
Zabby 4/21/2011 12:47:00 PM
Well I bought this one on a whim at MAC when I went in for something entirely different, and that was a mistake - should have come here to read the reviews first! The colour looks very pretty in the pot (which is probably what tricked me into buying it) but the fallout is pretty awful. By midday I have sparkles on my cheeks and I dont like that, it looks like I put the eyeshadow all over my face on purpose! I havent tried applying it wet yet, but I would guess that that would look very sparkly and too over-the-top for a typical day. Maybe I will save that for a night out. Otherwise, I will use this over matte eyeshadows to give them some sparkle, as another reviewer mentioned. And I wont use much, in an attempt to avoid the sparkle-face effect.

Lip Treatments -MAC - Prep + Prime Lip
Zabby 4/21/2011 12:33:00 PM
I am not a big lipstick wearer, but I do wear lip gloss pretty much everyday. I've found that this helps my lipgloss stick to my lips and stay in place much, much longer. And thats very helpful, especially since not all of my lipglosses have the greatest staying power. I make sure that I let it dry on my lips before applying lipgloss. It can feel a bit sticky once its dry but I think that helps it do its job. When I put it on it feel immediately moisturizing. I've also found this helps prevent my lips from getting dry. Often, I put my lipgloss on in the morning and by mid-afternoon the colour is still there but my lips feel dry and look feathered. So when I try to put another coat of lipgloss on, it doesnt go on evenly and really looks pretty bad with the dry patches. Mac's prep+prime does prevent my lips from drying out so I can apply a second layer of lipgloss later in the day if I want, no problem. The only reason I did not give this a 5 lippies is because really, I dont feel like I NEED this. I can get by without it by using more chapstick or not applying lipgloss all the time. But I do really appreciate what it does do for me :)
