Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Calamine Lotion
Yzyz 3/30/2013 11:52:00 PM
Love this! I got the Calamine Lotion with Antihistamine from my local drugstore because I got a major allergic reaction last week and wanted to use it to soothe my skin. Pros: -dries and shrinks pimples (I got one small white head and one red sore bump near my mouth this morning [not cyst] and applied this to both: it's night time now and my white head has dried up completely and the sore one does not feel as painful and bumpy anymore, instead of waiting several days for it to come to head and burst and heal, it will most likely go down tmr morning!) -not harsh (it's actually soothing to inflammation and will not cause reliance or unresponse from skin with continuous use) -cheap Cons: -consistency (quite runny and hard to apply) -packaging (mine only comes in a bottle and the mouth is soo big. I usually just shake it well to transfer some product to the lid and dab a q-tip inside) Definitely cheap, easy to get hold of, multipurpose and effective!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV is a definite staple in my daily skincare routine to get rid of active pimples, prevent future ones and lighten scars. I have discovered ACV years ago and for some reason, I have not been using it religiously. Recently, I found out why though. I was always using supermarket brands and only recently bought an organic unpasteurized one. And I discovered a world of difference. The organic one smells a lot stronger and is cloudier rather than clear gold. Though, due to its natural goodness, it eliminates blemishes and redness almost 10x better. I noticed this only because I had 3 cystic acne recently due to stress and the usual ACV did not meet my expectation since they were still pretty painful and inflamed after 3 days. The organic one literally just reduced the pain overnight, the size in 2 days and the color after the third night. They are still bumps waiting to be further healed but I am amazed by the goodness in an organic ACV!

Treatments -LUSH - Grease Lightning Spot Cleanser
Yzyz 11/20/2012 1:57:00 AM
HOLY GRAIL spot treatment right here! I have super sensitive, breakout prone and not quite oily or dry skin. Definitely allergic to all them benzol peroxide and salicylic acid treatments on the market. Most reduce spots but flakes my skin and thin it raw and red. Ugh This baby is such a blessing. Its all natural, no harms, easy to apply, not that expensive and above all, super effective! Brings down spot inflamation instantly! Yes u heard me. And reduce size overnight. Though big ones take longer time. I suggest to use this over light moisturizer and nothing more. Also, dab it on instead or blending in. It dries out quicker and soothes quicker. Dont worry about the dryness, its the pimple not ur skin. Also, dab it only on spots and dont use it on clear areas. Give this a try! Totally never looking back to anything else

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
Yzyz 11/10/2012 11:27:00 PM
Oh god. Where do I even staaart?! Usually when i review i go: hmm, these are the cons these are the pros... and for this baby im just like: it does this great, this amazingly, that awesome..YEAAAAAAAAAAAH Okay you get the excitement now. I decided to use this stuff for a whole month before a review. This baby is mint, get it? Haha okay okay. First off this smells ahmazing! like mint chocolate with extra zing. It comes out like a toothpaste and feels so creamy when applied to the skin. Dries down pretty quickly (5-10minutes) and feels like dried toothpaste (chalky and cracked). This stuff is like magnet. I don't have any blackheads so i can't comment on this but it pulls whitehead out like magnet. Wait till your pimple is totally matured with a white head and put this stuff on. When it dries, u'll see the pimple is actually gone and the puss came out. WAT? that was way too cool. It does calm down small pimples like overnight but with bigger ones, it will make them worse the second day since it pulled out all the bad stuff beneath your skin and made them surface. Just make sure you don't irritate them and they will go away soon. Another reason why I love this, cheapest price beside, it shows me very clearly where I large pores, acne scarring (those that form a tiny hole) and pimples. When it goes on, you see the exact texture of your skin. After analyzing my skin better, I can actually target problem areas better since it's not that easy to see with naked eyes and skin full of scarring and breakouts. It's great One point down for the packaging cause it's so hard to squeeze out and you have to cut the tub to get product at the end since most stick to the walls. Overall, WILL ALWAYS AND FOREVER REPURCHASE

Tinted Moisturizer -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear - Light to Natural
Yzyz 11/4/2012 1:07:00 PM
I cannot believe my eyes when I saw the low rating on MUA! So I HAD to write a review because I personally LOVED it and so did my bestfriend. So first of all I have read most posts complaining about the color. Don't go with Light to Natural if you are between NC10 and NC25. Ivory to Light is the way to go. And no it will not make ur face ghost pale. I am NC15-20 and this matches me perfectly! Second, most posts complain about the herbal smell. It is lavender essential oil first of all and guys, this product is preservatives free, alcohol free, low toxicity and fragrance free. I suppose most foundation don't smell so good with all the chemicals inside so most companies add tons of fragrance into it that is horrible for your skin. Using essential oil to fragrance the product is the natural way to go so I personally would prefer having less toxic product for the essential oil smell than fragrance filled products smelling like perfume or plastic. The lavender smell doesn't linger anyways! Pros: -not expensive and easy to get (in drugstores) -organic, low toxicity, non-comedogenic -perfect color match -feels like a tinted moisturizer, covers like a foundation !!!! (doesn't cake at all and feels very light and natural though it did cover my 50% of my acne redness like a light coverage foundation such as Almay's) -doesn't break me out -doesn't dry sticky or cakey -great for days when u don't feel like putting foundation on or just using it as a base for mineral foundation/powder since u only need to use concealer over it bcuz it has a nice coverage Cons: -it doesn't smell the best but doesn't linger and is a natural fragrance (like I explained above) -the consistency is liquid-y so when u open it, u don't have to squeeze for the product to come out, just hang it over ur palm and it will leak out. make sure it is closed well when u take it on the go with u Hope this helped! This TM isn't bad at all. I did check the ingredient list one by one and NONE was supposed to be pore-clogging or irritating. So u are not supposed to break out from it unless u sleep in it. As a matter of fact, I slept with only this stuff on one week ago and I woke up with no zit and until now, I only had one pimple and not sure if it was from this. I used to be lazy at times and sleep in my foundation and it totally ruins my face for the next two weeks or so. This proves it is very natural and low harm for your skin. It is sincerely the best TM i have tried in term of coverage and ingredient all together! Definitely better than Laura Mercier in coverage and prices and ingredients right? Give it a try!

Liquid -Almay - Clear Complexion Blemish Healing Makeup
Yzyz 10/24/2012 5:18:00 PM
I can see why some ppl hate this product and others adore it. It all depends on ur skin type and how bad ur blemishes are. I have fair skin with pretty darn harcore red acne scarring all over. Though, i dont have much active pimples, blackheads or even cystic acne. My scarring is generally discolouration rather than ice pick or deep ones. My skin type is normal, though very thin and sensitive and i get oily throughout the day. By oily, its not like u can fry an egg on it but just shine. So the product. It has a light to medium coverage that will tone down my scar though not masking it with color or powder like most foundations do. It is like a higher coverage tinted moisturizer, if that makes sense. Thats what i like abt it and why giving it 4 star although some of its flaws. I also like how the salycilic acid doesnt over dry ur skin, unless ur skin is dry, but gradually deflame and peel off and heal active pimples. Feels light on face. Buff fits my nc15-20 yellow undertone skin great! Now its flaws. Its coverage is definitely a downside since most use it to cover acne. It is nowhere near full coverage. Though it looks extremely natural. Ideal for ppl seeking this look but not so much for others. Id recommend using it as a primer under full coverage foundation since it heals and is very light. This is rly the only one flaw for me. But hey, what can u ask more for a non comedogenic foundation that heals acne and feels soo natural? I can see myself loving this foundation when my scars would fade away a bit more. Its almost winter here and this foundation doesnt flake or dry at all for my skin type. Overall, if u have mild acne and have slightly or very oily skin, ull love it!

Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Cleanser
Yzyz 10/21/2012 2:35:00 AM
Finally after all this time, my HG cleanser! I have been using so many cleansers and they were either 'meh' or 'oh god never again'. Last month, I replaced all my skincare and makeup products with non comedogenic ones to reduce chances of clogged pores. I have been using Aveeno's positively radiant cleanser, not this makeup removing one, for a year and liked it very much as a morning cleanser. However the most important cleanser for me would be the night one. I do wear foundation or tinted moisturizer daily and use oil cleanser to remove my makeup at night. I usually follow by a cleanser to remove left over makeup or oil residue just as a last check. This being said, I need a cleanser that is very effective or has makeup removing properties in itself to complete the job. In my experience, these are either so bad quality they make my skin 'squeak' afterwards or so moisturizing it leaves oily film afterwards. This cleanser is a nice balance. It takes off the leftover residue while making my skin feels silky and smooth. My skin loves it! Plus it totally saves me the task of using a sponge to lather up my cleanser, this comes out foamy!! One lipsie down because it has too strong of a smell for my liking, It is a pleasant smell and most people won't find it bothersome but I prefer unscented products. Also, it can't be carried everywhere. The cap comes off pretty easily and the pump would get the product everywhere if you want to bring this with you. :( All in all, HG cleanser! Does the job while leaving skin smooth and hydrated. Big bottle size is also a bonus :) Definitely give it a try

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Yogurt Mask
Yzyz 9/18/2012 2:12:00 AM
I've been using yogurt mask on and off for about two years. I started to religiously use it (3 times a week) for about half a year now after it saved me from a skin crisis during my trip to Thailand. Yogurt mask is the HG mask! really! I use full fat greek yogurt cuz i like its thick and creamy consistency. It doesn't run on your face and it dries slower. Doing yogurt mask has two best parts, one is when you just took it out from the fridge and smear it on your face; the other is when you wash it off and feel completely different from 30 minutes ago. It's so soothing, cooling, tightening when you smear it on. I often apply it when my face feels bumpy, allergic, hot, red or after I popped my pimples. It instantly calms my skin. Scar reducing wise, it works but will take time. I have quite fair skin and hyperpigmentation on fair skin is the worst thing. Ever little light you get can reflect and exaggerate the redness to its worse state. It's just soo annoying! Even when my skin is clear, I still have to apply foundation since TM won't even cover the redness from anything and everything on my skin. After 6 months of using yogurt mask, my acne scars are definitely less visible. They turned pink-ish instead of brown-ish, if that makes sense. The size of each scar has shrinked too. They are also easier to be covered by concealer. On areas where I got acne and I don't usual get, scars are totally cleared. I don't need any concealing on these areas, only need to dust some powder on and voila! Yogurt is great, cheap, and pwns all 'em high-end-non-effective masks on the market! Take that :)

Toners -Kose - Medicated Sekkisei
Yzyz 9/17/2012 11:23:00 PM
I have never found a HG toner and this one is the closest to it although I wouldn't qualify it HG since its price is a big downside. The quality and the fact that i can use it as a toner + a mask totally makes up for the price though. Anything under 100$ that lasts awhile and meets my expectation is worth the price. Price aside, the content actually gives amazing results! Although it smells a hint of alcohol and stings slightly my eyes, it doesn't dry off my skin. My skin is usually quite dry during autumn/winter time (after i wash my face, my skin tightens immediately and begs for moisture). After I apply this toner, my skin does not tightens or dries off it just keeps a nice balance although I wouldn't say moisturized. It's not the purpose of this product anyways. It also doesn't break out my sensitive skin. In fact, the most amazing result of this product might be its ability to calm my acne and reduce them in no time! I think the alcohol does the job. Swelliness and redness would be reduced overnight and it got rid of a big patch of slight bumpy white-head acne on my cheek withink 3 days without leaving scars! That surprised me a whole lot, it's like waking up to surprise gifts every morning, how great! I only used it for two weeks so I cannot comment on its ability to whiten, brighten or reduce acne marks. But i believe that with a daily dose of 5min cotton mask, your skin will be well balanced and hydrated, thus be improved and heals itself faster. I actually use two bottles of different toner. In the morning I use a cheap and liquidy (Burt's Bee Rosewater) to wipe away dirt for a clean canvas for makeup. At night, I use sekkisei to drenched in cotton mask to hydrate my skin and when the mask is done I wipe my face to cleanse any leftover. I follow this step by Cetaphil moisturizer and that's it!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lemon Juice
Yzyz 5/9/2012 8:18:00 PM
I created my MUA account just to share this miracle with you all! I've been using Apple cider vinegar for one year and lemon juice for a few months now. Clearly, i'm not going back to acv ever again. Lemon juice is so much better on so many levels. It smells better, is less sticky, is more efficient and burns less. Pressed fresh lemon juice or bottled 100% natural ones work the same only the latter is more convenient. I always buy a big bottle and store it in my fridge. I just poor few drops on my cotton pad before i go to sleep and it lasts forever. Plus a big bottle only costed me 1.99$ I suffer from hormonal acne and let me tell you that it is impossible for me to control it. I do study very hard and have to work night shifts sometimes. I have to pull allnighters atleast twice a month. My hormones are pretty insane and my period never comes on time. Whenever I am on vacation & get some good rest, my skin gets clear right away. Ever since i started using lemon juice, I've been in loooooove! It almost immediately dries up your pimples right after you apply it. It can burn and sting when applying but that only happens when your pimples are picked and are still open wounds. This even prevents me from picking my pimples since I don't wanna suffer the sting later on. It instantly releases and pain or swollen feeling from pimples. Bottled juice doesn't leave sticky feeling compared to fresh juice. Lemon juice helps to dry up pimples and this happens almost overnight. Any small blemishes or whiteheads would pop out at night and dries up the morning after. Any dring wound would heal within two days and peel off. Any big zits or cystic acne would go away within 3-5 days. AMAZING. rly!! And i realized that the more you apply it, the faster it heals. But do not over apply it since it would dry up your skin too much. This almost changed my skin type from slightly oily to..dry. Any good masks, facials or moisturizing occasionally would solve this problem. I also suffer from acne scars since 5 years already. Lemon juice lightens them almost overnight but to get rid of them would take quite long time. I would give it atleast 3 months. but it will work, trust me. Applying lemon juice toner eliminates existing pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and so on. Tone your discolouration and keeps emerging zits at bay! Yay for lemon juice!!!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
Yzyz 5/7/2012 8:05:00 AM
I wish I could rate this a 4.5/5 since it would be a 5/5 without the packaging issue. However it is annoying enough for me to take off credits from the product itself. This powder definitely matches my requirements for a good loose powder. It is translucent enough to look more natural than using mineral loose powder foundation, pressed powder, baked powder, etc. I have acne-prone skin. On good skin days, a sheer layer of this powder on top of some sheer concealer is perfect for my skin since it mattifies it while giving it a healthy glow. When my skin is breaking out, I need to heavier amount of this powder on. When putting a bit more than a sheer layer, it gives beautiful sheer coverage that is just enough to minimize any redness peaking through my foundation. It does not CONCEAL and despite its premises, it's definitely not a powder that has a foundation's coverage. It simply mattifies and minize a small amount of redness. This keeps the skin natural looking. Though, whenever I apply too much, it can look kinda powdery and i usually just spray some water on my face and let it sit. It would minimize the powdery effect and give a natural glow. This powder is smooth but not velvety. Does not look cakey and matches skincolor perfectly. Perfect finishing coat for base makeup since it balances out the color, the texture and the finish of the whole thing. Very versatile. Could set makeup using a sheer coat and fluffy powder brush, could be used as a sheer-coverage foundation when using a kabuki brush and spraying the brush with some water first, could dab it to set concealer alone with smaller brush and so on. Love it Definitely my favorite loose powder and i will not apply pressed powder or powder foundation anymore! REPURCHASE! One start down for its packaging though. The lid doesn't close very securely and could easily open when you carry it around in your purse or luggage only to end up in a hot mess. Can't bring this with me out or on a trip, unfortunately. A good replacement for this on a trip would be M.A.C's skinfinish baked powder in natural.

Concealers -Revlon - PhotoReady Concealer SPF 20
Yzyz 5/2/2012 11:09:00 AM
Let me just say that I HAVE FOUND MY HG CONCEALER! I have yellow undertone, quite fair skin, and lots of redness due to acne scars. I am a NC20(although a bit dark for me) and it's impossible for me to find a concealer that matches my skin perfectly in north american beauty industry. It's always too pale, too orangey, too brown, too dry, too sheer or too thick. Really, it's a pain in the butt. I have recently came across this baby and fell in love instantly with it in the pharmacy. It's slick package is great and it's in the same line as revlon photoready foundation. Being someone who's not a big fan of foundations, i have heard lots of rave about this one. Sadly, they ran out of tester for the color I wanted(002) so I tried the lighter 001 on my hand. OHHH and this is when i fell head over heel in love with the consistency. Where can you find another stick concealer that is creamier, smoother than this one? So I decided to give 002 a try since 001 was way too pale for my liking. It might fit my skin as well but it summer is comming up, so hm. The next morning, i decided to try it on. I have toned, moisturized, and applied a sheer base of bb cream. I put this on the problem areas (redness) that still need some coverage. I apply this with the smallest concealer brush (tiny bitty) and dot it on. It's soooooooooooooooooo creamy and my skin loves it! My skin isn't very dry but my pimples are, so it's a big thumb up. The color matches me PERFECTLY with a yellow undertone. sliiight darker but balances out the pale hue of my bb cream. The only downside would probably be its slickness. It's so creamy and easy to apply that when I dot a bit too much product, i end up covering the skin around my problem area too. Definitely sheer consistency and medium coverage. IDEAL for acne scars. Later during the day, boyfriend got me a big surprise for our anniversary and I got teary. I was worrying whether this concealer would melt off my face considering its consistency but it did not! That could be the power of apply physician formula loose powder with a kabuki too. My boyfriend also noticed that my makeup looks a lot more natural since the color matches me so well! Nevertheless, this concealer is not matte and could turn oily if you have very oily skin. make sure to prime well. I do not have oily skin so this sets well with a bit of loose powder. I also don't have huge dark circles and never conceal my under eye area. I just swipe my bb cream across it. I have no idea how it is at covering dark circles, tho I would guess not as great as covering blemishes since it is quite sheer in consistency. Although the color would be perfect for blue-ish dark circles since yellow diminishes blue! I lovelovelovelovelove this product! YESYES would repurchase! Give it a try if you want a concealer that is creamy, natural, has yellow undertone and doesn't accentuate ur problem area's dryness.

BB Cream -MISSHA - M Perfect Cover BB Cream
Yzyz 5/2/2012 10:44:00 AM
For reference, I am a NC20 in MAC, 002 in Revlon, Light02 in Maybelline. I have quite alot of red acne scars(not pitted but discolored scars) and some small acne from time to time. My skin has a "unoticeable" yellow undertone since it is pretty unseen & I look whiter than most Asians. But when applying makeup, yellow undertone matches my skin the best. I use it in #21 Now the product. I have been using this one for 3 years already. And with such experience, I can tell you exactly what I like about it and exactly what I don't. I have tried it in every size it comes in, i bring the 20ml size one with me on trips/flights. and keep the full size on at home. My skin has its ups and downs and when it's super clear with only few acne scars, this is THE HG FOUNDATION/BB CREAM for my face. A little goes a long way and I only dot it on my problem areas after moisturizer. When using minimal amount of this bb cream, the color matches me perfectly and gives my skin a flawless finish (with setting powder ofc). Thick consistency, powder like finish, not quite matte, dewy finish. Baby powder smell, too strong for my liking. I only have problem with this bb cream when my skin is an absolute disaster. When i'm on my final exam weeks or period, my skin breaks out, becomes crazy red all over. Although my acne dries up pretty fast, it takes long time before the driness goes away. This bb cream has quite impressive coverage but I still need a whole lot (one and a half pump)for my face when it's going insane. & everything is just not right. When you pile too much bb cream on, it looks grey/ashy/dirty/cakey, you name it. Plus, this bb cream has a pinkish undertone so when i apply too much, it just doesn't match my yellow undertone right and give me a messy look. When i let it set, it dries up my problem areas and accentuate them quite alot. Hence, I figured out a way to make it look less messy when my skin is breaking out (since i still haven't found a bb cream that does a 'better' job and i don't wanna use foundations). I dab a sheer coat over any redness or pimples, blend in by dabbing with my concealer brush. Then taking a smaller brush, dab my actual concealer over spots that need more coverage. Then set with a loose powder. This method minimizes the use of bb cream and makes it look less heavy while giving a natural finish. This is quite time consuming so I ordered a tube of #23 hoping that it would fit my yellow undertone more and look less pinkish/ashy when I apply slightly more. Here is the final verdict: Best bb cream for coverage, wish it has less pink undertone, will continue to purchase this until I find something better, too dewy for summer, too scented for sensitive skin.
