Liquid -Bourjois - Radiance Reveal Healthy Mix Foundation
Yrie 4/11/2013 11:33:00 AM
So, apparently I'm the first one to review Bourjois' new version of the Healthy Mix Foundation - here we go then: PROS: - Lovely smell - Gorgeous texture. I apply this with my fingers, it glides on and blends effortlessly. - Light to medium coverage, buildable. Looks very natural. Glowy finish. - Affordable price, the 30ml will last me quite a while as well (usually 9 months up to a year). - Nice glass packaging with a pump. - Having worn it for about 10 hours now, it looks mighty fine. I had to blot my t-zone halfway through, but the foundation is definitely still on. CONS: - The colour selection isn't the greatest. The undertones suit me very well (they are quite yellow), but their lightest shade (51 Light Vanilla) is still a smidgen too dark for me (N10ish). HOW IT COMPARES TO THE OTHER VERSIONS: - Regarding the finish, this is pretty much in between the original version and the serum. It is glowier than the original, but not as dewy as the serum. Therefore, this may be an excellent option for those with drier to normal skin, who don't want the massive dewiness of the serum version, but for whom the original was too drying. I have combination skin, so I powder it and it holds up fine. - Like the serum, this comes in a glass bottle, which looks nicer than the plastic one, but is also heavier. Also, I quite liked the pump system of the original version, because you could easily see how much was left and it seemed to be less wasteful. I don't usually carry my foundation with me though, so I don't care too much about that. VERDICT: This may be my favourite foundation yet. Now that my skin has gotten a lot better, I can actually get away with light coverage, and if I have a bad skin day, I just double this up or use a concealer on top. The texture is simply to die for, it feels great and is ever so easy to apply. The finish is very natural and glowy. I think I'm in love :-)

Cleansers -Caudalie - Cleansing Water
Yrie 2/17/2013 10:11:00 AM
I repurchased this cleansing water once, but I will not repuchase it again. Here's why: PROS: - The smell is fantastic! I'm not sensitive to fragrances, but this may be an issue for people with sensitive skin. After trying the not-so-nice-smelling Bioderma, this was a nice change. - I like using this in the morning, for a quick, refreshing wake-me-up cleanse. CONS: - This is not very effective for removing makeup. It struggles to remove mascara and other long lasting makeup. I needed to use many cotton pads soaked in this before they came away clear. Hence, I went through my first bottle really fast. - Because I needed so much of this and went through it so fast, the price was too high for me. If it was cheaper and had performed better, I'd repurchased it, but at this rate, I just couldn't afford it. So, all in all a nice smelling cleanser for a quick rinse in the morning, but not effective enough to remove makeup at night. Sometimes, I use this after my proper cleanse, as a toner, because it smells nice.

Lotions/ Creams -Nuxe - Reve de Miel Hand & Nail Cream
Yrie 12/5/2012 2:23:00 PM
I really like this hand cream for everyday use. PRO: - The smell is amazing - I love honey. - The texture is smooth, easy to distribute and it sinks in and dries very quickly, so you don't get sticky hands. - Makes my hands soo soft! - Moisturises nicely. CON: - The packaging is not the pretties, but it is very practical and small enough to carry in your purse. - It is pricier than other hand creams, but the smell and effect is worth it for me. VERDICT: Would definitely repurchase this. I just love the smell and the way it makes my hands so very soft.

Lip Treatments -Nuxe - Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm with Honey and Precious Oils
Yrie 12/5/2012 2:10:00 PM
This is my favourite lip balm ever. PRO: - LOVE the scent so much. - It's matte, which makes this an excellent lipstick base. - This is the most nourishing lip balm I have found so far. - A little goes a long way. - The texture is very smooth and feels very comfortable on the lips. CON: - The little pot is made of glass and feels luxurious. It is not very user-friendly or sanitary. I just make sure I use clean fingers. - The price is quite high (about €13), but you get a massive amount (15g) which is much better value for money when compared to the stick version (€7 for a mere 4g). VERDICT: I used to use the Nivea Honey and Milk lip balm, but this is way more nourishing and the smell is even more like real honey. I'll definitely repurchase, and maybe I'll get the stick version to carry in my purse.

Concealers -Collection 2000 - Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
Yrie 10/14/2012 10:42:00 AM
I seem to be one of the few who this concealer did not work for. PROS: - very good coverage - creamy consistency, easy to blend - simple, compact packaging - really cheap CONS: - the consistency work fine for blemishes, but is a little too thick for using under the eyes - this oxidises on me very quickly and quite badly. It turns from a nice fair, yellow-toned colour that matches my skin to a much darker and kind of pinky shade within a minute. VERDICT: The oxidation is my main problem here. It just makes my blemishes stand out much more. It really is a pity because otherwise the concealer is really good. But it's unusable for me, therefore the low rating.

Blush -Pixi - Cheek Gel Blush
Yrie 6/29/2012 7:12:00 AM
This blush is amazing! The colour is exactly what it says: natural. A lovely rose colour. It looks much darker in the tube than it does on the skin, but it's nicely pigmented and not too sheer at all. I like to apply this with my fingers - you just need a tiny bit and blend it onto your cheeks. It blends quite easily. You have to work it quick though, because it will set. Sometimes I'm too slow, then I just blend in the edges with a buffing brush. Once this is set, it doesn't budge. Ever. It lasts all day! That's what I love most about this product, you just put it on and don't have to worry about it all day. It is quite pricey, but it will last a long time. I'd definitely repurchase :-)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow
Yrie 6/22/2012 4:30:00 PM
This is my favourite MAC eyeshadow ever! The duochrome is so pretty and the shadow is very versatile as well. If I want the green to show up, I pat the shadow on. The more you blends over it, the more the reddish brown comes out. I love how I can only use one eyeshadow, pat it on the lid, blend out the edges, and make it look like I've used two or more colours. This is the perfect eyeshadow for a night out (hence the name), but I also use this for daytime looks on a regular basis. I put a cream colour all over my lid (or any other light neutral colour) and just place Club on the outer corner, blend it out and into the crease a bit. It makes every look so much more interesting! I will definitely repurchase this over and over again :-)

Crème -Unlisted Brand - Mehron Celebre HD Pro Cream Makeup
Yrie 6/22/2012 4:17:00 PM
This is the first cream foundation that I like. PROS: - I found a perfect colour match, which is amazing. I wear the shade Light 3 (LT3) and my skintone is roughly NC 10-15. - The converage is very good, I would say it's full coverage, but it can easily be sheered out by applying it with a damp sponge or by applying it sparingly and then buffing it all over the face. - It is easy to blend, but no too emolient. I love using this with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush or my Sonia Kashuk Multitask Brush. - The finish is very natural, not completely matte, not really dewy either. - It didn't sit in my fine lines or accentuated my pores. - It is so amazingly cheap and you get a lot of product (roughly €8 for 25gr/0.9oz). CONS: - My only problem with this foundation is that my t-zone doesn't stay matte for very long. I use a setting powder with this anyway, but my t-zone definitely gets oily earlier than with my liquid foundations. VERDICT: This is a lovely cream foundation with a great range of shades. the application is easy and the finish is very natural. I would not recommend this for people with oily skin, and people with combination skin should make sure the set it with a powder. I want to try some more cream foundations, but for now, if I ever run out, I would repurchase this.

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Brush Collection - Eyes Starter Set
Yrie 6/22/2012 4:05:00 PM
I like this brush set a lot. I don't really use the Accent Brush. I could use it to apply my inner corner highlight, but I don't usually use a separate brush for that, just the one that happens to be already in my hand, like the Base Shadow Brush for example. I don't use the Eyeliner Brush, because I'm not into liquid eyeliner, so I can't comment on that. The Base Shadow Brush is really nice. It picks up pigment effortlessly and the application is very nice. You can also use it to blend the edges. I could do a whole eye look with just this one brush. The Deluxe Crease Brush is really good once you stop trying to use it in your crease :-) I love applying my concealer with this, be it cream or liquid. It blends the concealer so easily, and I find that I use less product than when I apply it with my fingers. It's particularly helpful for application under the eyes, because it blends so easily and doesn't get cakey. I also use this brush to apply cream bases, like MAC Paint Pots, for example. I like the Brow Brush. I use this to fill in my brows with powder and I also use it for eyeliner. You can very easily and eyeshadow as a liner with this brush, or apply eyeshadow to the lower lashline. It's multifunctional. All in all, I really like this brush set, even though I don't find a use for every brush in it. For the price though, I'm not going to complain. The brushes are really nice quality, so soft and I love the design. The case they come in is very hand for travelling. Would definitely recommend them!

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Blush Brush
Yrie 6/22/2012 3:55:00 PM
PROS: - The bristles are super soft and the brush blends everything nicely. It could also be used as an all-over powder brush. - It stands up on its end, which is practical, and I like the pink handle and the general design. CONS: - This brush is just too big for my face. I can make it work, but I have to be really careful where I pick up product, where I place the brush and how I move it around. It's definitely not made for a quick and easy application. This is a particular problem for me, because I use very highly pigmented blushes which I don't want to end up all over my face. VERDICT: The size really is a pity, because it is a very nice brush that does what it's supposed to. But the size just ruins it for me. Therefore, I would not repurchase, unless they came out with a small version of it.

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Brush Collection Core Collection
Yrie 6/22/2012 3:50:00 PM
This is a good brush set. I don't really use the Detailer Brush or the Pointed Foundation Brush, but the other two brushes are totally worth getting the whole set for. The Contour Brush is really good for contouring (surprise, surprise), but I use it mostly to apply cream blush, cream and powder highlighter. It's small enough for a really precise application. It belnds powders and creams very nicely. But my real love in this set is the Buffing Brush - it is simply amazing and can be used for so many things. I use it mostly to apply liquid, powder and cream foundations. It blends everything beautifully and makes the application easy and effortless. It can also be used to apply blusher or bronzer, or even setting powder. All of the brushes are made of super soft sythetic bristles. The bigger one stand up and they all come in black case which is great for travelling. I would definitely repurchase this set - the Buffing Brush alone is totally worth it. I do so wish it was sold separately though.

Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Pastel Lumiere pearl eyeshadow Beige Rose 08
Yrie 6/22/2012 3:39:00 PM
This must be my favourite single eyeshadow ever! PROS: - The colour is a beautiful creamy beige, almost the colour of my skin (NC10-15), minus the shimmer of course. The shimmer is lovely and not glittery at all. Perfect base colour for an everyday look and it looks amazing as an inner corner highlight. - It goes on nicely and it's easy to blend. I have no problem picking this up with a brush at all. - I LOVE using this wet. You can easily use it dry after, because it's a baked eyeshadow. The colour comes out much more intense, it so so pretty! - I also use this as a face highlighter. It looks lovely on my cheeks and cupids bow. CONS: -The packaging is cute, but it's bit bulky. I wish I could depot these and put them in a palette. VERDICT: Love this eyeshadow, I use it almost every day. The colour is beautiful and so versatile. Would definitely repurchase it!

Lip Treatments -Labello - Pomegranate
Yrie 6/22/2012 3:26:00 PM
I quite like this lip balm, but it's not my favourite. PROS: - The tint is really lovely, quite obvious but not completely unnatural. It's a really nice red. - The texture goes on smoothly and the finish is very glossy, which I like. - It has some shimmer in it, but it barely shows up on my lips. - The packaging is practical though not particularly pretty. CONS: - I'm not a fan of the scent. I do like Pomegranate scents in general, but this one is very artificial and I can smell it all the time while I'm wearing it, it doesn't really fade. - It is not as moisturising and soothing as the original (or any of the others I've tried so far), so when I have really dry and chapped lips this doesn't bring much relief. VERDICT: So, I like this as a lip tint, but not as a lip balm. When my lips are moisturised already, this is great, but when they are dry I prefer to use my usual Labello Milk&Honey.

Eye Shadow -TheBalm - Just This Once Jamie
Yrie 6/22/2012 3:10:00 PM
This is an absolutely lovely eyeshadow, worth the higher price. The texture is so buttery and it blends like a dream. It is nicely pigmented and there is no fall-out. Very easy to work with. I love using this on top of different bases, it brings out the different nuances of the colour nicely. I found this to be quite a close dupe for MAC Shale, an intesrting taupey purple. The packaging is cute and compact. It has a metallic closure, which is very secure, on the one side, but on the other it can make it hard to open sometimes. I highly recommend the TheBalm eyeshadows and this one in particular, would definitely repurchase.

Eye Shadow -TheBalm - All About Alex

This is an absolutely lovely eyeshadow, worth the high price. The texture is so buttery and it blends like a dream. It is nicely pigmented and there is no fall-out. Very easy to work with. I love using this on top of MAC Moss Scape Paint Pot, it brings out the lovely mossy green colour even more. The packaging is cute and compact. It has a metallic closure, which is very secure, on the one side, but on the other it can make it hard to open sometimes. I highly recommend the TheBalm eyeshadows and this one in particular, would definitely repurchase.
