Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - DUO eyelash adhesive
Yoshi3329 11/12/2012 9:46:00 PM
I've purchased both colors (black and white) and I love them both with exceptions. I use false lashes almost daily and for the top eyelashes I use black because it gives the appearance of liquid eyeliner. I use the white on the bottom because it dries clear. They both work great for that but I do take issue with the design. The design can make the glue spill over the band and onto the lashed themselves and since I pay a lot for my lashes I'm usually in agony whenever that happens. And this isn't even a newbie experience. I've been applying glue to lashes for almost a year so these things don't happen to me so often anymore. However, once in a while it'll happen and in some cases the lashes are ruined or never the same and lose the looks it's supposed give. It also isn't water proof which sucks, however it does come off easily, doesn't hurt, and it doesn't irritate my skin, and is fairly accessible which is a plus for me.
Bobbi Brown Crystal Lip-gloss, described as a "clear, high-shine lip gloss." It is clear, but more high shine with other clear lip-glosses is achievable. The common theme Bobbi Brown Cosmetics would be a natural look. Bobbi Brown delivers without the tackiness. The same goes for Becca Cosmetics. Bobbi Brown Lip-gloss in crystal is perfect for a natural glossy lip. I would suggest this for black women dipping their toes in clear glosses. I know a few black women that will avoid clear glosses because it makes it seem they have finished devouring bacon. This does not give a greasy lip appurtenance if you apply the product thinly on the lips. This would also be nice for older women. The formula is a sticky, moisturizes, and wears for two hours or so. The lip-gloss is a step or two behind the consistency of honey or syrup. The sticky formula makes it a bit difficult to glides onto the lips easily, but it feels comfortable. This is scented, taste-free, and comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator.
Mascara -NARS - Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
Yoshi3329 12/11/2011 12:14:00 AM
This is my first department brand mascara and I've used it daily for a FULL YEAR. and it's designed as a volumizing mascara that will give the illusion of a fuller fringe of lashes. When I first received that product, it flaked and wiggled it's self under my contacts causing irritation. After a couple days, it stopped flaking and I've never experienced it since. This is a very build-able mascara and it never clumped except for the first few days I applied it. It gives black and soft lashes. I can wear this for twelve hours, It did everything it said it would do, however, there are still cons. One con is it smudges like whoa! I have contacts and sometimes I would have the instinct to itch. When I did, even for a second, I would literally look like a raccoon! It isn't very good for my just-about-non-existent-lower-lashes. The wand is way too large, would smear, and cause raccoon eyes. I would actually like to itch my eyes with this mascara, but it's just not possible. A good note is that it starts to loose it's effect after a full year of use. I would say this mascara is on the medium side of natural lashes. Other than that, it does as advertised and I would purchase it again if I couldn't find any other mascara. It could be a bit more voluminous (in two coats) and seems like an overall good mascara. However, I want to try a few more mascaras before I comeback and call this my holy grail.
This is actually a very wearable shade for women of color. I can actually wear this shade without a lip liner because darker skin has a natural affinity for this bold shade. This is a perfect color for spring. While Extreme Coral brightens the face, this pink with red undertone lipstick is more for a classic look. This is the best lipstick formula I've ever encountered. Incredibly creamy, moisturizing, stays in place, long-lasting, beautiful bold colors, and the packaging is so luxurious. The packaging for the collection is so cute. On each tube the logo is the same shade as the lip product. I do feel you pay a chunk of change for the packaging, which while decadent, does hold fingerprints. I can not wait to purchase more!
Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte #15 Extreme Coral
Yoshi3329 12/10/2011 10:02:00 PM
This is the perfect orange lipstick for black women. It's a vivid dark orange that brightens my entire face and makes me feel happy when I wear it. #15 is my second Rouge Volupte (I also have #11 Rose Culte), and it's the best lipstick formula I've ever encountered. Incredibly creamy, moisturizing, stays in place, long-lasting, beautiful bold colors, and the packaging is so luxurious. My mother was telling me this is the way that lipsticks used to be made in her day. She also love the two shades mentioned so much she has to have them herself. And I'd like to give a thanks to YSL for offering shades for women of color. Many high-end lines stick to pinks and beiges, but YSL always offers shades of blackberry, plum, orange, hot pink, deep red, etc., the type of bold, saturated colors that black skin has a natural affinity for. To make it look more natural (I have two tone lips) use a lip liner on the darkest parts of my lips and I put the lipstick shade on my medium shade area of my lips. Use both together, but be sure the liner blends completely and there are no harsh lines with a lip brush. I do feel you pay a chunk of change for the packaging, which while decadent, does hold fingerprints. I am NC45 (cheeks and jaw area) and NW50 (forehead) for reference.
Primer/ Corrector -Laura Geller - Spackle primer/corrector in Bronze
Yoshi3329 10/19/2011 1:01:00 AM
I received the mini $10 version of this in my October birchbox. I'm NC45 and this is a tad (and I do mean a tad) darker than my skin tone but it's so slight that I barely noticed it. This isn't a bronzer for me but this is definitely evens out my skin tone, gives my face a more natural look, gives a great glow, gives a smooth finish, and enhances the golden tones. I either use this under my foundation, by it's self, or with my foundation in the center of my face and this around the other parts to enhance my golden tones. This is actually a tiny bit better than the Laura Mercier's Foundation primer (And way better than the oil free primer by Laura Mercier which does nothing for oil control) but I only wear cream foundation and I still have to blot by noon (3-4 hrs) if I wore no powder. But even then I noticed itwas as musch as compared to the two above primers mentioned. With powder (Laura Mercier) I didn't start to shine until about 6 hours of wear. You won't see anything if you're in the house, I saw a bit of the glitter in an open window, but you really have to go outside in the daylight to see the glitter (so skip if you want a matte finish). I don't have sensitive skin and I didn't have any reaction to the product and the consistently isn't creamy but thin and easily glides on. It's easy to take off, can give more coverage to foundation, long lasting, and lightweight. I'm wearing ti right now and I don't feel a thing on my face and I've been wearing it for several hours.
This is the first blush I've ever tried. I wanted to start off small and cheaply so I could get used to applying blush and find what I like and don't like for future purchases. I've been using this for about 8 months and the pyramid design it first had since I've purchased has been leveled. Nyx cinnamon is a matte bright orange with yellow undertones. Whether layered or blended, it has a similar look- a bright orange. It you apply it sheer for a flush of color or you can build it up to full intensity (just like it is in the pan). I built my color and it usually last about 5 hours before it fades evenly into a flush. I personally didn't find the texture to be chalky or applied in streaks. I found the texture to be soft, finely milled and a bit powdery However, the soft texture allows it to apply beautifully and it blends out well so it can look natural. The packaging is a simple black flip top and you get 0.2 OZ(6.4g). I'm NC45 with yellow and orange undertones for reference.
Lip Treatments -Jouer - Lip Enhancer - Conditioning Lip Treatment
Yoshi3329 9/21/2011 12:09:00 AM
I was very excited when I received this product in my Birchbox initially. Then I read it for lip enhancement as well. Being of African descent I don't need help in that department. I was amused by it anyway and still decided to try it if only for the conditioning properties. Yes, it worked for conditioning. My lips felt a more smooth and silky. However, I was under the impression that lip enhancements would tingle in some shape or form. It didn't do any of that. It never did. It's consistency is thick and it doesn't have a scent or taste in my opinion. Yes, it delivered on it conditioning treatment promises but when it comes to lip enhancement, even I know it missed the mark. I can get just as moisturized and conditioned lips for much less.
This really is a mixed bag for me. It does as it says for it is waterproof, sweatproof, and won’t irritate my sensitive eyes. I was crying just the other day with this mascara and it stay put! However, Unlike other high end brand mascara I can't blink as soon as I apply it because it's still wet and will get on face. I've learned that it takes a few seconds to dry before I can blink. Also you can only do about 2 coats because by then the formula (which is thin and runny) will have already formed little tubes around your lashes. The cons are that it doesn't volumize or lengthen, just defines. I can't say much about it holding a curl as I already have naturally curled lashes. It did seem to push the down a tiny bit, which is weird. A mascara has never done that before for me. This mascara also gives you that crunchy, stiff lashes. It annoys me to no end. They look fine, but as soon as you touch them, they are stiff. This was always the case as I always use two coats. Lastly, this is hard to come off. I've never gotten them off with just water. I've always had to use makeup remover.
I did not like this stick concealer. I wear Dermablend concealer in Bronze. It matched my perfectly and this concealer is great for winter weather (I live in Chicago) but as soon as spring started to roll around it creased easily. No matter how much Laura Mercier Seting powder that I used. It was not longwearing at all in humid weather. Lastly, it did not offer much coverage. Even after two swipes, I could still see dark circles and my beauty mark. After doing some more research, I found out that stick concealers in general crease easily, are not long wearing, and do not offer much coverage. Luckily, I was able to get my money back from Macy's.
Grapefruit is a frosted pink and if you look really closely (really closely) you'll actually see shimmer. It isn't sheer but it isn't opaque either. I can actually see it on my lips. It's a very pretty pink that looks natural on my medium toned lips and dark NC45 with yellow and orange undertones. I would consider this a nice baby step to those with dark skin trying to venture into more saturated lip colors. I'd also recommend to WOC lining your lips with a lip pencil two shades darker and blending the two colors until they become seamless. A very lovely color.
This is a pink beige that I think would work well with someone with pale lips and pale skin. If you have medium, dark, two tone lips, or dark skin, I wouldn't recommend this. The only thing I like about this lip glaze is the golden shimmer. It's long lasting but not for WOC.
This is why I really don't like sheer lipglosses. I've tried other Stila lipglazes (kitten) however, this isn't pigmented enough. This is so sheer that can barely see it. This is great for people who are fair skinned but this brand and many other high end brands sadly only stick to pinks and beige colors. This color simply isn't bold enough color or saturated with enough pigment that my black skin and lips has a natural affinity for.
This is the first time I've bought Stila cosmetics. They were having a sale and I purchase the Lip Glaze color set for about 20% of the original price. The real reason I purchase it was so that could get their signature "Kitten." This is a sheer gloss with a peachy base with a peach-gold shimmer. So this gloss can work with those who has a peach or a golden undertone. The reason this happens to be a cult favorite is because it is very wearable and a perfect neutral. The application is a pen form and all you do is twist the bottom to the right and the product come right out. This works quite well with Black skin tones, I'm NC45 with yellow and orange undertones. This product was introduced to me by someone who is NW50 with peach undertones. Lastly, this lip glaze and be heavy but it last several hours.
Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Mr. Pumice - Pumi Bar

I'm not a dancer, a flip-flop wearer, a laborer, and I don't like going around barefoot and my feet are tore-up! My problem is my tore up feet are genetic, really. I got my feet from my father and his look a mess! My sister has his feet too and she does nothing but game all day and her feet are ravished! I don't know how considered she just sits all day. Everyone else in my family just (mother, half sisters) feet are just the daintiest little things in the world. My feet were always peeling, dry, thick, and calloused. This stone however has cured me of all that! I use this stone wet (in the shower) or dry. This is the reason why I don't have to get pedicures.
