Eyeliner -NYX - Grow Lash Serum Liner in Jet Black
rated 5 of 5
WendyW 9/27/2012 8:56:00 PM

I emailed NYX since I can't find anywhere anymore. Thank goodness I stocked up. They took off the market to reformulate. Should be back the early part of next year, 2013. I'm impressed that they emailed me so quickly with the status. thank you NYX for caring for your customers. I love the liner, I don't really care about the lash growth serum. This is a liner that stays put and applies smoothly. I have issues with liner transferring to my upper lids, but not with this.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Schick Intuition PLUS Razor
rated 4 of 5
WendyW 5/25/2012 10:10:00 AM

I use Venus ProSkin and this razor. I like them both, but they are very different. Both have the "don't need to use shaving cream" feature since it's built in; however, the Intuition Plus Razor seems to give you more built-in shaving cream. You don't think you're getting a close shave since the head moves in and out so much as you're shaving. Not sure why the razor is so much bigger than others, other than allowing water to get in to the handle and help with the lathering process. Great for travel since it has its own travel cap. Although be careful, when putting cap on a wet razor since it will take some of the lather strip with it. I like to shave my legs during a bath, but this razor is great when you only have a shower available. No need to worry about the shower water washing off the shaving cream or soap on your legs since it's built right into the razor. I use both the Venus ProSkin for my underarms and pubic area--more control and less bulky razor.

Conditioner -John Frieda - Root Awakening Strength Restoring Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
WendyW 3/4/2012 10:20:00 AM

I love Root Awakening Strength Restoring Conditioner. I did an experiment where I put Root Awakening on one side and Frizz Ease Smooth Start Conditioner on the other. Both did a great job detangling, but after styling, the Root Awakening was smoother and softer. Root Awakening side looked more healthy. The SmoothStart had more volume, but a bit more frizz. The ingredients are different. I used the Root Awakening shampoo on the whole head, btw.

Lip Gloss -Philosophy - Bubbly
rated 3 of 5

Tastes like soap or shampoo to me. I like the consistency, but couldn't get over the smell/taste. Got this as part of a Sephora VIP gift. Wouldn't buy Bubbly, but would possibly try another color or flavor.

Polishes -Creative Nail Design - Shellac UV Polish System - 14-Day Wear
rated 5 of 5
WendyW 11/25/2011 9:38:00 AM

This truly lives up to the claim of lasting for 14 days or more. The shine lasts just as long too. No dulling nail polish. I keyboard type and handle binders, paper, etc. a lot with my job. Typically a normal manicure lasts only a few days. The Shellac UV Polish is amazing. I only needed a new manicure because you could see so much nail growth near the cuticle. Cost me $40 in the Maryland area. I've heard you should use a sunscreen on your hands to avoid UV damage, but I'm not sure about that claim. I did it the last time, but you take the chance of getting oily residue on your nail bed which could affect the shellac adhering. When I state no chipping, I mean absolutely no chipping for 14 days. I really don't think I'll go back to regular nail polish again.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara
rated 2 of 5
WendyW 10/22/2011 2:05:00 PM

Why do I even try another mascara other than my CG Lash Blast?? I bought Maybelline's Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara and was disappointed. Seems like it's Great Lash formula in a different package and brush. Smudges on the upper portion of my eyelids. Doesn't clumb, but it doesn't add fullness either. If you curl your lashes expect this extra wet formula to take the curl right out. Will not buy again.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Matte Eyeshadow in Revolver
rated 5 of 5
WendyW 7/20/2011 6:00:00 PM

Love this eyeshadow and the shade Revolver and ABC Gum. Urban Decay discontinued Revolver so I'm stocking up as much as I can. Bought two on Ebay. The reason I love Revolver is that it's a matte gray shadow that isn't too dark or too light. Doesn't emphasize the wrikles in these 40-something's eyelids. Staying power is magnificent. One of the few eye shadows that I use entirely up! I have gray blue green eyes and browns make me look tired and sick. Grays are the best neutral for me without making me look washed out. Great for daytime wear without looking too smokey. Use all over or just in the crease. Please Urban Decay bring it back. Nothing compares. I've tried Makup Forever #33 shadow which is close but doesn't have the statying power and is too dark. Revolver is just right!!

Treatments -Sally Hansen - 14 day Nail Shield
rated 4 of 5
WendyW 6/27/2011 8:26:00 AM

Does it take a bit of patience and practice to put these on? Yes. But ladies, give them a chance. I was applying the Salon Effects, but the designs were a little much for me, so I gave these a try. I bought Sheer Shell, although I think it's the most pink of the choices and not beige as the box states. The trick to applying these is make sure your fingertails are warm, dry, and free of any oil or dirt whatsoever. File your clean polish-free nails with the darker pink side of the enclosed file. Buff your nails with the white side. Then use rubbing alcohol on each nail to make sure they are clean of any oil or residue. Then blowdry your nails on hot. Yes, before you apply. Make sure your hands (nails) are warm. Make sure you peel off the upper clean plastic strip and then peel the nail strip. You may want to size up your nails before you get started so you're not fumbling around during this process. Remember, you have either end of the strip to choose from depending on the size of your nail and your curticle shape. Line-up at the cuticle area first, press and hold, and then work up the nail. Pull slightly over your tip until the sheet breaks. Curve it around nail tip as your pull. Press all around the nail and then blowdry your nails on hot again. Use the side of the curticle stick to rub out any bubbles or ridges. Then use the pale pink side of the file to remove excess. The friction cause heat too so the strips fuse even more around the nail edges. If you really need to, use the darker pink file to get off stubborn pieces. Voila! You have perfectly protected and shiny nails. No chemicals, no peeling nail polish that takes the first layer of actual nail off with it. A nice protective layer that lasts a lot longer than any nail polish I've ever tried.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
rated 1 of 5
WendyW 5/16/2011 5:47:00 PM

Do not think of getting this anywhere near your eye area. If the smallest amount gets into your eye, it will sting and hurt like mad. No amount of watering or tearing of your eye will help, you'll have to completely rinse your eye out with water and reapply your eye makeup. I now only use this on my arms and chest just so it doesn't go to waster. Afterward, I thoroughly wash my hands just to assure that no amount gets on my face. It's that irritating to the eyes! I'm not the only one either; take a look at the other negative posts. You think it won't get in your eyes, but throughout the day you don't realize that you sweat and a small amount could get in your eye.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
rated 1 of 5
WendyW 1/29/2011 11:30:00 AM

I've never had a mascara sting my eyes like this does. I had to wash it off a couple of hours after applying. My eyes burned, watered, stung, etc. Very strange since I've never experienced this before. Liked the brush and the application; too bad it irritated my eyes so much.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - HD Hi-Definition Nail Color
rated 2 of 5
WendyW 1/17/2011 7:51:00 AM

Fine for your toenails, but chips too eaily on the tips of your fingernails. Brush is flexible and the polish is thin, but it still applied fine without too many streaks. Definitely need to apply two or more coats. If you type at all (and who doesn't nowadays) you'll get one day out of this polish without tip chipping. Applied on toes and it's holding up pretty well (and it's winter). The colors are vibrant and beautiful, just a shame they don't last longer. They shimmer and glow--not frosty which I like. OPI is still my favorite for wearability.

Polishes -OPI - Sweet Heart
rated 1 of 5
WendyW 1/8/2011 11:18:00 AM

As the other reviewers have written, a streaky mess! I had to use Kiss on The Chic to even it out and save re-painting everything. Sweet Heart is not a great color either. A little too blah, and neither white nor pink.

Polishes -Essie - Fiji
rated 1 of 5
WendyW 1/8/2011 11:02:00 AM

Would love the color if the polish did not streak terribly. I typically buy OPI and thought I'd try Essie. Bad move. The brush is whimpy and thin. The application went on streaky and dull. Way to expensive for this to happen.

Polishes -OPI - Dulce de Leche
rated 2 of 5
WendyW 12/31/2010 5:55:00 PM

This color did not look good on me at all. I typically can wear pinks, whites, reds, purples, etc. But Dulce de leche looked sickly on my fingers. I hate to say it, but my nails looked corpse-like--like embalmed hands. Not a good look. I added a sheer red/rose to the top and it helped it a lot so I'm thinking it's just too fleshy. It reminded me of clay or putty. I think on the toenails, it would look just as bad. The application and wear is just like the high quality of OPI, so that's why I didn't give it a 1 lippie.
