Polishes -Revlon - Nail Enamel
rated 5 of 5

I'd recommend this to anyone on a low budget looking for large selections of colours. PRICE - I got this for 25HKD from Sasa. I used to use OPI but this definitely tops it. COLOURS - All of them have great pigmentation and come out in brilliant vibrant colours. I have this in Mysterious (a rich vibrant midnight blue which really pops and looks great on toes), Sassy (a bright vibrant lime green which I haven't had the chance to try out yet), Pretty Penny ( a metallic rose gold which works well on fingers. I generally only use pale natural polishes on my fingernails, but these give a subtle yet sophisticated touch to them) and Clear (a transparent varnish). STAYING POWER/APPLICATION - all of them go on smooth and solid. One coat is often good enough when not intended for long term wear, but two coats is preferable. These also dry incredibly fast (LOVE!!!) which works well for me as I have zero patience for these things and often end up ruining my nails if made to wait.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Lancome Juicy Tubes
rated 3 of 5

I hate lip gloss. Except this one. I can see why people dislike it, and I actually agree with some of them. However this remains a part of my makeup kit for a reason: PRICE/PRODUCT - I got this as a gift so I wouldn't know the price. However neither have I had the chance to find out, as there is a lot of product in the tube and I haven't had the need to replace it yet. COLOUR - I have Erise 15 but I don't really think colour matters on lipgloss very much, especially if you're wearing it on top of lipstick. I generally just use it on its own. There is a taste to these however, and it's sooo absolutely yummy and fruity that I just want to eat it. I can see why some people wouldn't like this, but hey this has to taste better than your average lipstick right? STAYING POWER/MOISTURISING - this is very very very thick and is extremely long lasting. In fact I only ever use this in winter because my lips get really dry to the point where no amount of chapstick works. It is extremely moisturising, albeit sticky and can become a nuisance. All in all, the moisturising power of this = LOVE to the extent where I can put up with the mega shine and I can deal with the stickiness. I would've rated this a 4/5 overall based on personal experience, but taking into consideration those who don't have as dry lips, this could be much too heavy and totals up to a fair rating of 3.

Lipstick -NYX - summer love
rated 3 of 5

I've also written a review on NYX's Pumpkin Pie, which is my daily lipstick. However, I am forced to say that I would not buy it in this shade again. PRICE - compared to drugstore makeup PACKAGING - comes in a small, convenient black plastic form COLOUR - DUNDUNDUN this is a no for me based on colour alone. That having been said, I am Asian and this nude shade just does not work with my skin tone. Unless I go for a well co-ordinated colour scheme makeup matching pale lips, this makes me look like I'm sick. MOISTURISING - this on a scale of 1 to 5 would be 0. If you have have dry lips with cracks forget about this. All Nyx Round Lipsticks have great colour but they tend to sink in around cracks (unless you apply on top of lipbalm). Also, although I find this to be creamy enough upon application, it does not moisturise in any way at all. STAYING POWER - okay this really cuts points for me. It's expected that lipstick doesn't stay after meals, but this really doesn't stay for that long even without drinking or eating. I'd recommend using this on top of lipbalm and maybe clear gloss to seal it, which ends up working a whole lot better. All in all, NYX's Round Lipsticks are great, but I'd go for Pumpkin Pie over this.

Lipstick -NYX - Round Lipstick in Pumpkin Pie #630
rated 4 of 5

I bought this initially on a whim off the internet when I was looking for a cheap lipstick. That having been said, this is one of my favourites now that I use on a daily basis. PRICE - I got this off the internet for 28HKD, which is cheap even when compared to drugstore makeup PACKAGING - comes in a small, convenient black plastic form COLOUR - PERFECT. Don't you hate it when your lips get too red? I do, and so this is a great natural pink on me. I've seen that a lot of people define it as a nude colour, but on me it's quite warm, and not orangey at all unlike what the name suggests. However I would still buy this again just for the price and colour.

Eyeliner -Kanebo - KATE Super Sharp Liner High Black - new for fall 2007
rated 4 of 5
Vynro 7/27/2012 6:43:00 AM

PRICE - I got this for 75HKD which is completely worth it for anyone wanting to try out liquid liners. COLOUR - this comes in ink black, black and brown. I personally use the ink black one and out of all the liquid liners I've tried this has the purest black, not some wishy-washy grey such that one coat does the job. APPLICABILITY - this goes on easily and stays on. It is extremely smooth upon applying and gives a very sharp finish, perfect for more defined styles. STAYING POWER - this doesn't budge once settled and so far I haven't had the need to reapply since the colour doesn't fade, and I'm talking in 24 hour terms here. Simply put, a great liquid liner with a dirt cheap price, easy application and brilliant staying power.

Powder -GOSH - Mattifying Finish Pressed Powder
rated 4 of 5
Vynro 7/27/2012 6:21:00 AM

So summary: PRICE - so worth it, especially when it's on a buy one get one free sale PACKAGING - stylish and convenient with a mirror and puff. However based on experience this can be extremely fragile; I once dropped it on the ground and the hinge part of the compact just snapped off. I guess you just can't drop it at all. COLOUR - translucent and just the way I like it STAYING POWER - I normally end up getting oily around my T-zone, but applying this over my powder base works perfectly and stays matte for a good 6 hours.

Eyeliner -GOSH - Velvet Touch Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
Vynro 7/27/2012 6:15:00 AM

Absolutely LOVE. This is definitely the best pencil I've ever used. The most redeeming qualities of this would be: the PRICE - pretty much dirt cheap compared to any other decent liner out there, and for some weird reason they are always on a buy-one-get-one-free sale. I get this for 88HKD each when it's not on sale. WATERPROOF & STAYING POWER - When I go tanning/for a splash at the beach or pool, this stays on. I actually wear this to swimming training (as in doing laps) as well and after an hour although a lot of it has worn off, it doesn't smudge at all. Perfect for the rainy weather I've been getting recently. As for durability in general, it lasts for a good 8 hours. Without reapplying after those 8 you do get some residue at the corner of your eyes, which I don't actually mind very much. COLOURS - this comes in the most brilliant array of colours, which isn't common for many brands. I've personally tried Pretty Petrol (a vivid medium blue, perfect for partying), Hypnotic Grey (a very dark grey which looks black on my skin) and Truly Brown (a dark brown for everyday use). For some reason I found the brown to stay on better than the grey does. On a last note, I've seen that many people have commented on it being too soft and having to sharpen too often. A little tip would be to apply this tilted to one side so that it remains sharp enough for when you're going for a more defined shape. I personally never shave mine unless absolutely necessary, because a lot of this stuff goes to waste when sharpened.

BB Cream -Kanebo - KATE Mineral Cover BB Gel Cream SPF30 PA++
rated 4 of 5
Vynro 7/27/2012 5:53:00 AM

I can't compare with other brands of BB cream as this is my first go at it. However having used it for a couple of days I felt that it was worth the price. For reference, my skin is a little on the dry side when the weather changes and although I generally don't get acne I do have little flaws here and there. I used to cover these up with stick concealer, but then I came across this and it claimed to be cream, sunscreen and foundation all in one bottle. So, based on my experience: PRICE/PACKAGING - I got this for 110HKD without a discount, and the whole 30g comes in a smallish black squirty bottle thing. COLOUR/TEXTURE- this comes in 3 colours alone and although I bought the middly shade they call 'natural', I found it lighter than expected. They call it BB Gel Cream but I don't really see where the gel part comes in, as it comes out quite thick and creamy. Although it might feel quite heavy on the skin at first, after it settles in it becomes quite light and I don't get my pores clogged up. However despite the fact that it claims to function as cream as well, I recommend using good moisturiser beforehand anyways, especially for those with drier skin. COVERAGE - this offers brilliant coverage and was exactly what I was looking for. It combines foundation and concealer and shortens my morning routine. For just daily use however, I just use this as highlights over a light powder base. APPLICATION/STAYING POWER - this goes on quite smooth and blends easily. I recommend using a brush or sponge for easier application and ensuring that you don't waste the product by having your hands absorbing the cream. After it settles in, it sticks very very close to skin giving a natural look and manages to cover all your flaws whilst matching your skin tone, providing you picked the right shade.
