Powder -Clinique - City Base Powder Foundation SPF 15 [DISCONTINUED]

I loved this foundation. I actually used it as a powder! It was the only powder light enough for my PPP skin. But now it's discontinued I'm on the hunt again for a new powder.

Concealers -Clinique - All About Eyes Concealer
rated 2 of 5
VintageSinger 8/31/2006 1:06:00 AM

I bought this concealer after returning another (Quick Corrector, which DOES NOT cover). The Clinique salesperson recommended it to me. I told her my main goal was to cover zits and she gave me an eye concealer! I asked her about that, and she said it'd be fine for all over use. I took it home and tried it. It is so orange! It looked horrible with my rosey undertones. It also does not go on smooth and because it's thin you have to use a TON to get any coverage. Really it just made my undereye circles more pronounced than ever. And as for it covering zits, forget about it. I ended up taking this concealer back, avoiding that salesperson (who has given me numerous bad recommendations) and getting the Line Smoothing concealer (though I really don't have wrinkles). Clinique just doesn't make good concealers. I've tried atleast five different formulas and only Line Smoothing was half-way decent.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
rated 1 of 5
VintageSinger 12/8/2005 9:37:00 PM

This is not "dry" at all! Leave my face way too greasy. A few minutes after application, I used a blotter sheet and the whole thing was covered in oil from this sunscreen. I have combo skin slightly on the oily side. This product pushed the oil into high gear. No breakouts though from what I could tell. I would not recommend it to anyone unless their face is as dry as the Sahara.

Bronzers -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
VintageSinger 6/29/2005 5:33:00 PM

Good bronzer for PPPs and probably everyone on up from there. I have a pink undertone to my skin, so I was pleased to find that this bronzer didn't turn me orange. My mom commented that I looked more tan, and it looked natural. The brush sucks so invest in a nice blush/bronzer brush for appliaction. The only reason it did not get 5 lippies was because you have to be careful about applying this bronzer lightly or you will look dirty. And be wary of using a blush in addition to this product. You should probably pick one or the other.

Makeup Brushes -Revlon - Blush Brush

Decent brush. Good tapering on the brush. Blends color fairly well. Picks up too much blush though. Also sheds. Won't repurchase.

Makeup Brushes -Revlon - Powder Brush
rated 2 of 5

It's an okay brush. The brush if full and fairly soft. Sheds way too much, though, and needs washing ALL the time otherwise the powder builds up and starts to feel greasy. Will not repurchase.

Lip Treatments -Bath and Body Works - Ripe Red Currant Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
VintageSinger 6/19/2005 11:54:00 PM

I love the scent of this! It's your average lipbalm, but because of the scent and slight, natural sheen to it, I would repurchase.

Lip Treatments -SoftLips - Cherry Lip Protectant/Sunscreen SPF20
rated 4 of 5
VintageSinger 6/19/2005 11:50:00 PM

Nice scent. Smooth application. Feels nice on the lips and does make them soft. Slight sheen to it. I'm ALWAYS applying it if it's in my pocket. It becomes quite the habit. :-) Plus the SPF doesn't hurt.

Eyeliner -Clinique - Quickliner for Eyes in Roast Coffee
rated 5 of 5
VintageSinger 6/19/2005 11:18:00 PM

My HG eyeliner. A beautiful, rich bown eyeliner perfect for that thicker smugded look (as compared to the neat pencil eyeliner). Goes on smoothly, no tugging. Leaves a rich color with just one swipe. Lasts all day. Absolutley beautiful. Will work with most skin tones (I'm a PPP) and eye colors. I highly recommend,

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Healthy Hands Hand Repair Kit
rated 4 of 5
VintageSinger 6/10/2005 9:32:00 PM

This kit contains: Burt's Bees Beeswax & Banana Hand Creme, Shea Butter Hand Repair Creme, Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme, white gloves w/ bees printed on them, and a little booklet in a clear bag.

Beeswax & Banana Hand Creme - This hand creme is thick and luxurious. It smells just like ripe bananas. Slighty greasy, best used with the gloves for an overnight treatment. You'll wake up with silky smooth, mosturized hands. Comes in a 2 oz. pot.

Shea Butter Hand Repair Creme - Really don't like the scent on this one. It's too bitter. But it is a nice quality lotion. Best for those areas that really need it (like the back of the hand and knuckles). It's less greasy than the Banana Creme. Comes in a .56 oz tube.

Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme - Has a fresh lemony scent. Best used overnight with gloves. They mosturixe the cuticles and keep them from peeling in the future. Comes in a .60 oz. pot.

White Gloves - These are the cutest little gloves I've ever seen. I love the little bees printed on them. Great for overnight treatment.

Booklet - Informative booklet. Shows all of Burt's Bees hand products, and provides info and tips for hand and nail care.

Bag - Clear plastic bag with white drawstring on top. "Burt's Bees" printed across it in black. Good for storing kit.

Over all 4 lippies. An excellent buy for soft hands!

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Skintimate Shaving Gel
rated 1 of 5

This gwel gave me a horrible allergic reaction. I had hives ALL over my body! Not just my legs but all the way from my neck to my feet for two days. I was miserable. Gave me the shock of my life too, because I wasn't sure what had happened. Even if you aren't allergic, this stuff isn't that great. If you use a sharp ravor, you'll get the same results. I would NOT recommend!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Mango Mandarin Body Splash
rated 5 of 5
VintageSinger 6/10/2005 8:44:00 PM

This a wonderful body mist. I pair it with Clinique Simply for a great daytime scent. The fragrance is delicious, not too overly citrus. The mango pars it down just enough, leaving you with a fresh summer scent.

Fragrances -Clinique - Simply [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
VintageSinger 6/10/2005 8:41:00 PM

This is my favorite scent. It smells warm for winter, yet fresh for summer. I get plenty of compliments on it. I don't know how to describe the scent, I'm not good at putting names to the notes, but to me this scent is absolutly lovely and refreshing. People should atleast give this one a shot before they say no. You may be suprised.

Highlighters -Clinique - Clinique Glow Crazy Powder in Crushed Candy
rated 5 of 5
VintageSinger 6/9/2005 4:55:00 PM

I got this gwp. Very pretty and shimmery pink. A little goes a long way and it lasts. Best of all its not too dramatic to wear as a blush, even in daytime. It gives you a nice glow. I would recommend. It's a great color for anyone.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Duo in Lilac Truffle
rated 3 of 5
VintageSinger 6/7/2005 11:46:00 PM

Like all Clinique shadows this shadow is very good quality but I HATE the shades! The lady at the counter talked me into this one when I said I wanted a purple shadow. The purple in this duo had no where near as much color to it as I was wanting and the brown looks awful on me! Plus the packaging on this compact is very very difficult to open. The high impact shadows are much easier to open. I would not recommend these shades to anyone except an African-American. It would probably look very pretty on their dark skin, but for fair and olive toned people, this just does not compliment. Update -- 06/29/05: The shades are growing on me. They still don't have the intensity I want so I have to apply a lot. :-(
