Skincare - Face -Korres - Quercetin & Oak Antiageing Antiwrinkle Night Cream (Age-Reversing Night Cream)
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 4/12/2010 8:42:00 AM

My current favorite night cream! I'm such a sucker for retro-looking, simple packaging, but with this moisturizer, it's the content that is more impressive. The cream is thick at the first feel, but melts easily on the skin and doesn't feel greasy like many of the anti-aging moisturizers. The scent is actually a bit sweet, like marshmellows, but quite pleasant. This cream has done wonders for my pores, they are practically invisible in the morning, and my whole face just glows like it has had the best work-out. I got the day-time lotion from the same range, but I prefer the night cream much more. Although a cream instead of a lotion, my skin absorbs the cream much better and doesn't leaves any residue. This cream retails for 33 euros in the EU-zone outside of Greece, which probably be one of the most expensive products in the Korres range. Definitely worth the money and full of natural goodness. Will re-purchase.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Carrot Cream
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 4/12/2010 8:03:00 AM

The old claassic is back! Although the SA in my local Body Shop didn't want to say whether this "classic Body Shop Revival"is going to last or just another temporary thing. The carrot cream is of a lovely sunny, orange colour. A lot of people say it has a distinctive scent, but as a frequent user of natural skincare products, I don't mind the scent at all. Just a bit herbal, nothing really disturbing, and definitely not lingering afer you put it on. The consistence is quite thick, so little goes a long way. The skin is still matt after I rub it on, but feels very soft and velvety, no greasy residue. The moisturizing power is pretty amazing, and this cream might just be too heavy for oliy skin types to use. It does a great job as a base for make up. Very nice as a basic moisturizer at a really unbelieveble price. This is definitely better than most drugstore moisturizers I've tried. Simple but effective.

Blush -Bourjois - illuminating touch
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 3/10/2010 11:12:00 AM

This is an excellent highlighter / blush which is definitely up to competing with similar products from more expensive brands. The colour is a very lovely peachy sheer. It goes on easily and is very suitable for daytime use without being too "shiny". All Bourjous blushes have a nice scent, an easy-to-carry and girly round box, but also that terrible little brush which stings your face. I definitely will get rid of the brush that comes with the blush and use a quality one to put the highlighter on. The stay of this highlighter is also pretty good. I don't need to re-apply during my lunch break.

Liquid -Maybelline - Dream Liquid Mousse
rated 4 of 5
Vegalyn 2/22/2010 10:29:00 AM

This is an overall very good foundation, especially among the non-luxury brands. The little glass bottle gives a more "upmarket" feel to the otherwise very democratically priced product. The pump packaging is also appreciated. The consistency is a thick, airy liquid that spreads easily over the skin and then gives a glowy finish. Those who prefer a matte finish, should probably not buy this variant. The coverage is medium, the pores look indeed minimized and the overall effect is very natural, no cakey mask at all. I usually use 2 pumps for a whole face makeup. You can apply it with your fingers or with a little sponge. When applied in the morning, the make-up still looks fine by noon, light touch ups with some powder will do to keep you looking fresh till the end of the day. With its dewy-glowy finish, this is a foundation for those with a normal to dry skin, oilier skins should probably use more powder to keep the t-zone from getting shiny. I love using this with a peachy coloured blush, for it gives a very healthy total look. Will definitely re-purchase.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Embryolisse
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 2/16/2010 9:14:00 AM

This is such a beauty classic from the French pharmacies. Ever since I discovered it by chance, it has been a constant in my bathroom. I use it as a day-time moisturizer and my boyfriend use it after shaving, all year round. It has a creamy consistency, not too runny. It spreads easily over your face and neck, and you don't need that much by each use. The scent is kind of flowery, but still discrete, definitely not too feminin for guys to use it. It contains mineral oil, so for those who are sensitive to products containing it, be careful. Personally I never had any breakouts or allergic reaction from this moisturizer. It hydrates my skin even in the harsh winter months and serves as a great make-up primer. Your make-up stays fresher on a better moisturized skin. Embryolisse certainly helps a great deal in that department. Also my skin feels soft and hydrated all day, even in a fully air-conditioned office. With 2 people using this daily, a tube of 75ml lasts us about 3 months. Unlike some of the reviewers here, I kinda like the classic metal tube packaging. Most of my favourite beauty products come in metal tubes. It gives me the impression that it's more about the content, and not that much about the packaging. Also the metal tube keeps the UV-rays out of the product. I have combo-skin that tents to be dry in the winter, this is such a great base moisturizer, I think I'll stick with it for long time to come. You can easily find it online all over the world, but don't forget to stock up when in France. It cost around 10-11 euros in any pharmacy or paraphamacy shop in France. When buying outside France, you'll pay easily around 20euros for the 75ml tube.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Dr. Ci Labo Aqua Collagen gel
rated 4 of 5
Vegalyn 2/16/2010 3:59:00 AM

Great product for the spring-summer months, especially if you live in places with a humid climate. Hydrating power of this gel is amazing, but that also the only thing it does. No anti-aging effects, no SPF, no firming or correcting. I recommend it as a basic moisturizer for the mixed skins, and for dryer skins, you should add another moisturizer on top of it.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
rated 4 of 5
Vegalyn 12/9/2009 5:57:00 AM

My favourite foundation at the moment! Ultra natural finish, nice consistency (kind of jelly like, but once spread very easy to go on the skin), nice cool feeling once on the skin and the exact right finish. It doesn't cake, doesn't give you the mask feeling and doesn't dry out during colder months of the year. 4 lippies because of the shiny T-zone for mixed skin types. But this can be solved by a thin layer of loose powder. This is not exactly a budget buy in the city where I live, but the content of one bottle really lasts for ever, so the price is not that an issue here. The liquid has a light, "medical" scent which goes away once you put it on. I prefer to use this foundation with a sponge or with fingers instead of a foundation brush.

Liquid -Clinique - Even Better Makeup SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
Vegalyn 11/24/2009 5:39:00 AM

Generally speaking a really good everyday foundation. I was however a bit surprised by the price, this retails 28euros and it's one of the more expensive foundations Clinique has in its range, I think. Also a pity the lightest shade available here on the continent is 03, I think a 02 will be a even better fit for my skintone. Medium coverage, light, works well when applied with my favourite foundation brush and it stays put during a working day. I haven't seen the effect of improving skin tones, but definitely one of the better foundation formilars from Clinique. Last but not least, I love the packaging: compact, hyginic, easy to dose and very convenient for traveling.

Treatments -Ren - Rose Synergy O12 Restoring Facial Serum
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 10/21/2009 8:44:00 AM

This is a truly great product. Unlike other oil-based serums, this sinks in very easily. I use it together with the Frankinsence night cream of Ren. This combination really improved the look of my skin and pores in the morning. No oily T-zones anymore in the morning and even on a business trip with airconditioned hotel rooms, this holds my skin together. I also like the fact that it doesn't have a strong scent like other facial oils. The scent practically dissappears when you massage it into your skin. A little goes a long way, mostly 1 pump is more than enough for one use and I use it throughout the year. Will definitely re-purchase!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal
rated 1 of 5
Vegalyn 8/20/2009 5:26:00 AM

Not impressed at all. It doesn't give you the promised volume and I believe it's basically the same product as the usual Voume Mascara from Maybelline, simply in another packaging. Just a very mediocre mascara, for the same price, Max Factor mascaras are a much better choice.

Powder -Guerlain - Parure SPF 20 Powder Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 8/14/2009 8:11:00 AM

I'm surprised about the low overall rating about this product here! This is absolutely a winner! The only compact foundation I've re-purchased more than once, I'm on my third now. This commpact has everything: coverage, glow, silky feel on your skin after you put it on and it lasts till the end of the day without gettting flakey. It's ideal for the spring summer months when my skin tends to get a bit oily on the T-zone. After 3-4 hours on the skin, the effect is the best, it just looks like having flawless skin without the noticeable trace of using foundation. The only downside of this is actually the perfume. If it was for me, the product could've been totally non-scented.

Liquid -MAC - Hyper Real SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 10/31/2008 10:23:00 AM

This says exactly what it does, hyper real effects, without being too "made up". It gives my skin a healthy glow, no greasy shiny t-zone after a few hours. I like the consistence of this foundation, mends with the skin well, and is moisturizing enough for using throught the long, dry West-European winters. The SPF15 is a nice extra. You don't need a lot, the bottle lasts for a very, very long time.

Shampoo -LUSH - Rehab Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 10/28/2008 6:57:00 AM

My favourite shampoo at the moment. In combination with American Cream conditioner. Rehab just does everything a decent shampoo should do: cleanse, makes your hair soft and shiny, doesn't leave it greasy after 24 hours and is mild so it doesn't irritates the skin. Also the scent is not overwhelming, which is good for someone like me who is quite neutral on scented body products. During my last backpacking trip, I've used this every day for a month, and my hair has never looked better.

Crème -La Mer - The Treatment Creme Foundation SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 6/24/2008 10:43:00 AM

I don't know whether the HG-foundation really exsists, but this comes close. I have the "Ivory" tint and this blends so well into my skin with medium coverage. It doesn't feel heavy at all although it's a cream foundation, and my skin doesn't get greasy during the day. So I can use this foundation throughout the summer without feeling suffocated under a layer of coverage. After an hour or 2, the foundation sets in really well with the loose powder I use on top and the "velvety" look appears. This is what I love about it the most, the healthy velvet skin it gives me. You really need a tiny, tiny amont of this, so don't over do. I apply this foundation just with my fingers. I use the La Mer Gel Cream during the day and it's in perfect combination with the cream foundation. Compared to other products from the La Mer collection, the foundation is still quite "moderatedly" priced.

Moisturizers -La Mer - The Moisturizing Gel Cream
rated 5 of 5
Vegalyn 6/24/2008 10:25:00 AM

Love, love, love the La Mer Gel Cream. The moisturizing power of this cream is top. I have combination skin and this is the first gel cream that can keep me shine- free on the T-zone for a whole day. My make-up even doesn't need re-touching anymore during the lunch break. The scent is somehow strong in the beginning, but when the cream sinks in (and this happens fast), the scent dissapears. My skin is kept in top condition during the day, in a fully air-conditioned office. The price tag is indeed high, and we even pay more than the $220 outside the US. The 60ml pot will last me at least a year with only day-time use, I switch to the classic cream version of La Mer during the night.
