Cleansers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
Vanilly 9/10/2012 4:24:00 AM

I have sensitive, acne-prone, dry & oily skin. Most cleansers I use tend to completely dry my skin; my skin starts flaking , glows red, and feels very tight. So far, this cleanser has the most satisfactory results I've been looking for (I have yet to find my HG cleanser). It's a gentle cleanser that is strong enough to clean your face (I wear light to medium foundation) but not so harsh that it'll strip your skin from natural oils. With that said, it leaves my skin just a tiny dry. I'm not really surprised though, since my face gets dry and flaky solely with water as well. That's how crazy my skin is. The cleanser also gives you that squeaky clean feeling. There is a faint scent: smells very simple and clean. Does not smell like perfume. Has a consistency of a thick opaque gel that's easy to work with. A little goes a long way! Oh, also, I don't break out from this. If possible, get a sample at your nearest Kiehl's store (not sure if other stores sell this brand).

Lip Treatments -First Aid Beauty - Ultra Repair Lip Therapy
rated 3 of 5
Vanilly 9/10/2012 12:50:00 AM

I'm allergic to most lip products, and this was no exception. I wished this worked for me as it felt really good on my lips, but when I went home at night after applying some from the store (Sephora), my lips were slowly getting irritated. They got swollen, red, and tiny bumps appeared (typical allergic reaction on lips for me). I'm guessing it's the mint/menthol stuff in the product. For those who have super sensitive lips like me, beware! Try using a little on the edge of your lips (test patch). I made a mistake and applied liberally on my lips, thinking it'd be safe. D'oh! *Note: if you're allergic to most lip products like me, try Vaseline. They sell tiny jars (0.25 oz) at most drugstores & Walmart.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Million Lashes - waterproof
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 8/30/2012 6:29:00 AM

My very first WP mascara was Maybelline's Lashblast. It was great & all, but it was so tough to remove! L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes, on the other hand, was easy to remove with MUFE's Sens'Eyes remover. That's a big thumbs up for me, since it rains a lot where I live and I needed a WP mascara that was easily removable. This mascara certainly defines & lengthen your lashes. If you're looking for volume, there are other mascaras that can do better. Though, you can build up the coats and eventually you will achieve that thickness. The formula is dry (holds your curl) and was easy to apply. No clumps, no flakes. Just as L'Oreal promised. The only CON that I have with this mascara is its brush. Yes, it's good at separating lashes, but I have a very hard time trying to reach my lower lashes since the brush is so thick. I might need to use the business card trick for this. > Overall, you should try out this mascara if you're looking for a product that defines, lengthens, and some mediocre volume to your lashes.

Eye Makeup Remover -Make Up For Ever - Sens Eyes
rated 4 of 5
Vanilly 8/30/2012 5:58:00 AM

Got this in a sample size (10$ at Sephora). Works really great for me! It does not leave an oily residue. The consistency is not too thick yet not too watery... it's perfect and easy to work around with. Removed my waterproof eyeliner and waterproof mascara with ease. Will not guarantee that this product will work for every waterproof formula though. Another great thing is that the product is scentless. However !!! The product stung my eyes, and this product was for the "sensitive eyes". Wow, this thing really hurt my eyes real bad. I never had a reaction like this before. I suppose I just happened to be among the minority who has a reaction against this product. Out of curiosity, I kept using the product just to see how things go from there. To my surprise, the more I kept using the product, the less it stung. I suppose my eyeballs got used to it? Not sure what's going on there. Just make sure that you're not applying too much on your eyes at first in case it might sting. So far, this is the only eye makeup remover that removed waterproof eye makeup effortless in my experience as an ex-drugstore shopper (I'm slowly upscaling). This was my first higher end waterproof eye makeup remover. I'll be using this until I find something better. Worth a try for 10$ (you can always return the product!).

Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella- Eau de Parfum
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 5/17/2011 4:33:00 PM

I love this scent. It's very sexy, but also girly at the same time. Usually wearing cute floral sweet scents, I only wear this one when I want to feel more womanly or if I need a perfume that's a bit more mature. I bought the roller-ball version (I don't always wear perfume) and I might buy the bigger bottle whenever I run out. This is one classic perfume for me and I never get tired of it. > Last lasting and sexy.

Fragrances -Coty - Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani - Love
rated 3 of 5
Vanilly 5/17/2011 4:24:00 PM

The bottle, shaped like a little doll, feels a little cheap as the paint rubs off really slowly. Nonetheless, I really like the sweet and floral scent. However, It does wear off after a while. Will purchase again in the future, but it's not a priority. If you want something from a higher end, recommend Daisy from Marc Jacobs and Poppy from Coach.

Treatments -Boots - Expert Sensitve Hydrating Serum
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 5/17/2011 3:55:00 PM

I'm really glad there's a Target store around my neighborhood, or else I wouldn't have bought Boots expert products on a whim! I bought a bottle and was a little skeptical about it since the packaging looked really plain. > It comes in an inexpensive solid plastic pump bottle (love!) and the product has no fragrance (rather, it smelled a little sour naturally) and the consistency is like your typical serum, gooey but not thick. My dry, oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin approves of this product after 2 months of use. It stays on all day (you don't need to apply too much), keeps my skin smooth & moisturized (less visible skin cracks and flakes), it's very lightweight and does not clog my pores. It's very gentle and does not sting. Heck, it even softened my dry scalp around my hairline due to Seborrhoeic Dermatitis. Hello, my new HG moisturizer! Will try out more of their products in the future. The only thing I don't like is that I won't be able to tell if I've used up all of the serum because the bottle is not clear.

Lotions/ Creams -Cerave - Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 3/24/2009 7:27:00 PM

My HG so far!!! I've been using this for a week and this has been recommended by my derm. Was debating whether to buy lotion or cream, but my skin was so thirsty so I chose cream. --------------------------------- I currently have very dry winter skin with oily combo. I have acne (perioral dermatitis) and I use topical acne cream, so my face is very dry now. This product saved my skin from peeling! The cream sinks in to your skin and keeps it soft and supple. No need to re-apply the cream as it keeps skin moisturized. People, don't expect this to cure your acne or reduce redness completely. This cream did help reduce redness because it kept my irritated dry skin moisturized, but my pink/flushed cheeks are still present. As for the acne, it is safe to put it on I mean it's non-comedogenic. If you break out cause of this I think it's because of other factors (makeup, cleansers?) that irritated/clogged your skin or something else. ----------------------------- Anyways, it it didn't work for you that's too bad because it worked wonderfully for me! Two thumbs up. Will purchase again (its so expensive *sob* but it comes in a huge tub).

Moisturizers -Olay - Night of Olay Firming Cream
rated 4 of 5
Vanilly 2/25/2009 8:40:00 PM

Upon loving the classic day version of this cream, I decided to buy the night cream. I was satisfied with this product, but it wasn't moisturizing enough as a night cream. I'd have to blame the weather though, it's been really dry lately and my skin is like reptile-like now. Anyhow, this would make a lovely night cream in the hotter months! I removed one lippie because the packaging for the bigger sizes looked like some cheap plastic bottle, unlike the jar packaging.

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 2/14/2009 7:32:00 AM

I had two problems that I needed Vaseline for: 1) I had an allergic reaction on my lips due to some lip balm and it did some pretty bad damage. My lip was cracked and swollen. Of course with some medication it healed, but Vaseline kept my lip moisturized and healed the cracks too. Vaseline is one of the best lip moisturizers out there, and cheap too! 2) I have lots of dry patches on my skin to due topical acne creams... Regretted using them too much and it ruined my skin. I had put Vaseline (dabbed just a little on the spot and used paper tissue to remove excess oil) and it healed it! My Chin is now smoother than before, now I have to heal my forehead and cheeks. Bonus: You can use this as an eye makeup remover~ yay! OVERALL: this thing is a miracle =D Definately buy again.

Eye Shadow -Rimmel - Colour Rush Eyeshadow Quad, Smoky Noir
rated 3 of 5
Vanilly 2/13/2009 8:15:00 PM

I find it hard to find black/grey/silver colors in one small compact to have the ultimate smoky look and Rimmel offered what I needed. It takes little strength to get the colors on your brush but the color fades off very easily. Smudges if you don't put a Primer! I use this quad for eye lining more than creating the smoky eyes. I also use this to darken my eyebrows. Would buy again if I can't find anything better.

Eyeliner -Revlon - Matte luxurious color kohl eyeliner - 05 VERY VIOLET
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 2/13/2009 8:08:00 PM

Bought this on sale for 7$ at Walgreens. I'm impressed~! This eye pencil glides on so SMOOTH and soft and its easy to smudge to create the smoky look. This pencil comes with a smudger. I have to say that color is not the typical purple liner color since it's like a "royal purple" (kinda blue-ish). Anyhow, I'm satisfied with the color. Makes my eyes pop! So beautiful, if you wear this during spring/summer it would be perfect. Can't wait haha. OVERALL: great matte eyeliner with easy application, but expensive for a drugstore brand liner. Great payoff though. Would BUY again only if it's on sale!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Matte eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
Vanilly 2/13/2009 7:38:00 PM

Bought these on sale for 2$ (3$ off reg price at Walgreens) The colors are absolutely amazing~ Absolutely Matte! I bought Rich Sable, Aubergine, Tempting Teal, and Luscious Lime. (Uploaded some pictures here) The color is great and easy to get product on brush. The darker colors are great for smoky eyes! The lighter colors are great for the inner corners or highlight (wouldn't recommend the Lime color for highlighting because the color is vibrant). Can't tell about the staying power because I haven't worn it long enough yet. Would buy again when if I ever run out!
